The sky had already gotten dark when Ed and Double D found Eddy by the levee, frustratingly throwing stones into the water.
Double D looked at Ed, then walked up to Eddy, asking. "Eddy, what are you doing?"
"Skipping stones. What does it look like?" Eddy asked back, throwing another stone.
Double D picked up his own, which he expertly threw into the water, explaining. "That's how you skip a stone."
Eddy looked at him, picked up another stone and tried to skip it, but that ended up sinking into the water.
He grumbled, but noticed Double D holding an extra, which he took and threw, only to see it go down.
"Any chance you'd like to talk about it?" Double D asked as he threw another stone.
"What's there to talk about?" Eddy asked back as he tried to throw his own. "Ever since day one, this whole school year's been a bust."
"It's only been three days." explained Double D, who threw yet another stone.
"And yet, Nathan used all his lucky charms to get what he wanted." said Eddy, who was still having no luck with his stone skipping.
"If lucky means making a move on every lovely woman he's been seeing, including Mrs. Kelleher, then you, Eddy, are sadly mistaken." said Double D.
"Oh, really?" Eddy said, raising an eyebrow as he threw another stone. "Well, how about the time he went gaga over Miss Hoelscher while Edelschein had the baby?"
Double D thought for a moment, recalling how beautiful Miss Hoelscher was, especially when she substituted for Mrs. Edelschein back in 6th Grade while she was out having her baby.
"You've made your point there, Eddy." he said while picking up another stone. "But regardless, even if Nathan does become infatuated with these women, he's only twelve years old, going on thirteen. And he would never take advantage of them."
"And how would you know?" asked Eddy.
"Because it's not in his nature." replied Double D. "You might think so, but I know otherwise."
Eddy started to speak, but held himself back, thinking about how he acted towards me since the new school year started.
He slumped on the ground, asking. "I've been a lousy friend, haven't I?"
"Well, you do have quite a complex friendship with him like you do with Ed and I," said Double D. "But, recently…I'd say yes."
Eddy looked away, feeling ashamed, but noticed Double D walking up to him, saying. "But we can resolve this by meeting with Nathan tomorrow, turn each misunderstanding around, put our heads together and formulate a plan to save the Princess."
He placed the stone on Eddy's palm, asking. "Does that sound ideal to you?"
Eddy looked at Double D as he stood up.
He, then, looked down at the stone, which he tossed away into the water, where the sound of skipping got his attention.
Eddy stared at what he had witnessed, then turned to Double D with a little smile.
As Double D smiled back, Ed called. "Yippie Skippie!"
Double D and Eddy turned to see him running towards the water, holding a huge boulder.
"No, Ed!" they shouted.
But Ed threw the boulder into the water anyway, splashing them instead of skipping through.
Double D and Eddy stared at him laughing, then at each other…and joined in too…when they heard a loud voice call. "Hey, what gives?!"
The Eds turned to see the Kankers walking up to them.
"Where's the row of rose petals?" asked May.
"Where are the tiki torches?" asked Lee.
"Where is the table for six?!" asked Marie.
Double D took a step back while asking. "What are you talking about?"
"We came all this way for a romantic dinner on the beach." explained May.
"And all we're seeing is nothing?!" added Lee.
"Explain! NOW!" Marie demanded, not knowing, like her sisters, that Plank was watching from outside the levee.
"Now, now, now, wait a minute." said Double D. "We never said anything about…"
"Zip it, Sockhead…" Eddy hissed as he covered his mouth. "…and follow my lead."
He turned to the Kankers, saying. "Uh, what he means to say is…we left all that beach stuff in the house. So, we'll just go back there and get 'em…RIGHT NOW!"
As the Kankers watched Eddy leading his fellow Eds out of the levee, Marie said. "Men are such cowards."
"And that's how I prefer my man to be." Lee said, cracking her knuckles.
The Eds crossed the street in a hurry to hide behind the St. Luke Catholic Church, where Ed asked. "Where do we go from here, Eddy?"
Eddy thought for a minute, but soon noticed a familiar white van on the other side of the street.
"Ooh! TAXI!" he called out. "TAXI, OVER HERE!"
Inside the van, Nick noticed Eddy waving like crazy.
"Oi, Nack, look." he said, pointing at Eddy calling. "TAXI!"
Nack turned the van around to where the Eds were, asking. "Where to, mates?"
"Someplace where we can lay low for a while." replied Eddy.
Nick and Nack smiled sneakily at each other, for they believe the Eds know something about Anneliese's disappearance.
"Watch your steps." Nick said as he pushed a button that opened the side door.
"Yay!" cheered Ed. "We're going on a bus! We're going on a bus! We're going on a..."
Eddy quickly shoved him inside the van, on which he got in as well. So did Double D, who asked. "Eddy, do you think this is wise?"
"They'll never find us where we're going!" replied Eddy, who heard a groan coming from the corner.
"Hello, Julian!" Ed greeted on seeing who was in the van with them.
"Julian?!" Double D and Eddy said with surprise.
"Hey, wait a minute!" Eddy started, but was cut short by the door that closed in front of him.
Nack drove the van away from the church just as Captain Melonhead and Splinter swung from one street light to another, but were too late to come to the Eds' rescue.
"Cue missed again, Plank!" Captain Melonhead said, palming himself. "We gotta keep working on that."
