Here it is, the 106th full chapter of Miraculous Quirks released on the right day as promised. There are still a few more things left to wrap up the calendar year and this is the first of those two things, a final update on something going on that will come to fruition in a little while during the 16 chapter filler arc that will cover the MHA time skip as well as set up the last of the transition chapters that is coming next week before the Endeavor Agency arc begins. That is all the administrative stuff I have for now and while there are no review questions to answer there are some clarifications and responses from reviews to make which I will do now. Do keep the reviews coming as I enjoy hearing from y'all. That is all I have for this pre chapter note so that means that it is time to sit back, relax, and enjoy the 106th full chapter of Miraculous Quirks.

Disclaimer: I do not own either of these great works of fiction.

Chapter 106: End of Year Update

"Thank you for coming." Mage said as Marinette, Adrien and Momo filed into his office on campus. "This shouldn't take too long; I know that you're busy, but this is of some importance."

It was a few days after the Christmas party and Adrien and Marinette's private moment afterwards and things had returned to normal. Two days ago, on the 27th the girls had had a party in Momo's room for Ochaco's birthday which had been fun but muted as they were back in the swing of things, mainly training as it was break, so it had more just been a nice moment for them to enjoy together.

Now they were ramping up for the new year when work studies would start or resume for them and the final semester of their first year began. For the most part it was just a lot of training, but Mr. Aizawa had given the class a specific assignment for the New Year that Adrien and Marinette were thinking hard about.

Before then though Mage had asked for the three of them to come to his office today for an update about something and to let them know about how New Year's Eve and New Year's Day would work as the work studies began on New Year's Day. As soon as the trio saw Nezu sitting on the stool he used at the head of the coffee table in the room with Mage and Fei in the seats on one side Marinette at least knew what this was about as she took her seat in the center of the sofa with Adrien and Momo on either side of her.

"I take it that this is about the bakery." Marinette said as she looked around and cups of tea or coffee, by this point Mage seemed to know all of their preferences and favorites, appeared before them. "If it was about the work study Momo wouldn't be needed as she's not joining us this year."

"I'm still not really needed for the bakery." Momo pointed out. "I just know about it because it was decided back when I found out the truth about Marinette and Adrien."

"I requested your presence Miss Yaoyorozu." Nezu said as he set his cup down to be refiled with the latest hybrid blend Mage had created for his enjoyment and looked at her. "You are fully in the know about these two's past and who the Guardians are so you should be updated given how the staff under Fei's command are all clandestine Sub-Guardians and that they will serve as an off the books protection unit for the school. It will be useful to have those in the know about the additional purpose of the bakery know the finite details. That and with what is coming I figured you might be of assistance for the New Year's plans for our students, but I will get into that when the time is right."

"Oh ok." Momo said unsure how to answer that but trusting that her principal knew what he was doing as he was very good at forethought thanks to his High Spec Quirk.

"About the staff." Marinette said looking to Fei. "I am trusting your judgement in them, but I would like to get the info on them as soon as possible and then meet them when they have come to Japan before the bakery opens."

"Of course, all are Sub-Guardians who have been with the clandestine unit for a little under a century and served in various parts of the globe mainly to further the transfer program for when you two arrived though they are unaware that that was the motive behind the need for the program." Fei said as she produced 3 files from a bag at her side and handed them to Marinette. "Here is the relevant information on them. I have selected them not just because of their French heritage but because they have familial ties to yours and Adrien's, admittedly several generations down the line so they don't know of the incident, nor will they be briefed about your past. All they know is that you are aware of the Guardians' true nature and that's it."

"Come again." Marinette said as she opened the first file and blinked at the two images in it showing a tanned boy with shaggy, curly hair and a near identical girl with close cropped hair under a hat at side angle who was wearing several string and metal necklaces. "Oh, they're…"

"Each has at least one if not two biological ancestors who knew you back in the day and the one without two is still tied to a second from your class." Fei said as Adrien's eyes went wide at the first two images as he looked at them. "The first folder contains my lieutenants who I've worked with in the past, each serving as a partner to me on my 4th and 5th transfers, respectively. They are the twins DJ and Melody are the names they use nowadays as they have to change names each generation and as you can tell they are the great-great-grandkids of Alya and Nino via that couples eldest son who they named Adrien by the way."

"I…" Marinette said her eyes shocked as she processed everything.

"It's just what they'd do." Adrien said taking her hand to comfort her. "Though I am surprised that you recruited descendants."

"Only a few." Mage said. "And only after they wouldn't know who you were or even believe that the tales of their forebears days from the pre-Quirk era were nothing but legends and not truth. In the twins' case their parents died during one of the Quirk Wars, executed in fact, but Fei rescued them and brought them to Demos as recruits. When I realized the connection they had to your best friends and what their Quirks were I instantly approved their recruitment and used them in the transfer system as soon as I could."

"Yeah that's the most surprising thing." Adrien said as he read the information on the two in the file. "It says here that this DJ's Quirk is called Protection Shell while Melody's is Musical Misdirection. They seem to be similar to Shell-ter and Mirage, the powers of Carapace and Rena Rouge. Marinette explained that they were the holders after the whole incident, so I know that they were Nino and Alya, respectively."

"You would be correct there." Mage said. "It would seem that over time, when Quirks manifested, those who had either wielded Miraculouses or at least had contact with a long-time wielder would over time produce descendants with Quirks related to the Miraculouses that came from the box in France. For those who did wield one it was related to that Miraculous's power, for the others it was one of the zodiac Miraculouses and random. I hadn't realized how prevalent it was until the news of Kagami's grandchildren's Quirks being tied to each of the aspects of the Dragon Miraculous's power."

"Why do you think it's like that?" Adrien asked. "It is pretty coincidental that their Quirks are similar to Miraculous powers."

"I don't subscribe to coincidence, there is something more to this." Mage said. "I have theorized that the residual magic in their bodies from using or at least being near Miraculouses combined with the mutation that created the Quirk genes caused it but that is just my current working theory."

"It kinda makes sense." Marinette admitted as she read the descriptions of the twins' Quirks. "And their subtly different to the Miraculous powers it seems. Protection Shell allows for a near impenetrable shield of energy to be created around the user or a target of the user's choosing though Shell-ter was limited to the user if I recall while Musical Misdirection addles a targets brain into seeing things that aren't there or at what the user wants you to see so long as the user plays a few notes of music where as Mirage was a full-scale illusion."

"Correct and they aren't the only ones." Mage said as Marinette put the first file on the table, she'd fully review it later, and opened the next to reveal a slender girl with long blonde hair that had dark purple tips and black streaks in it. "That is Cornaline, I've assigned her to tasks in the past and she's been a transfer student a few times but she's usually the last attacker or line of defense given her Quirk."

"Single Strike." Marinette read as she looked at it. "It allows her to infuse all her power into a single part of her body, usually fists or feet but she's apparently used her elbows, knees and forehead before, and deliver a blow that will knock out a foe no matter what however it can only be used a few times a day and the stamina required to recharge varies from foe to foe."

"Correct." Fei said with a nod. "I've partnered with her before, 6th transfer for me in fact and I've partnered with all of them hence why I chose them, but Cornaline is the finisher for the team. It's not as a strong a Quirk as it looks though, she had to land her strike on a person's body for it to work and while it will take them down the feedback drain from it can actually kill her if she was to hit say All Might who has a high stamina, back when he was at his peak that is. It's varied and a little unpredictable hence why she's trained with a weapon, her case a bolas which is a whip-like weapon with three weights on the end. DJ and Melody also use weapon, throwing disks for the former and special recorder for the latter."

"Interesting." Marinette said as she looked over the notes on Cornaline and saw that it listed her proficiency in Quirkless combat with a weapon. "So which Miraculous is this one derived from? I don't recognize the power or weapon off the bat though I'm sure I've learned it before."

"The closest power to it is the Tiger Miraculous's Clout power though Clout is different." Mage said. "It can be used to accomplish a goal in a similar fashion to Lucky Charm not just knocking a foe out. As for her ancestor that knows you, biologically she's the great-great granddaughter of Juleka Couffaine. She's the one who only has one biological ancestor."

"Huh?" Marinette asked confused. "Juleka had children? I thought, well…"

"She never came out but we all suspected it." Adrien added. "It was kinda obvious who she liked in the class."

"I'm missing something." Momo said confused. "I know you've told me about your friends and if I recall Juleka was the goth-looking girl in the pictures you have but that's it. I think you said her best friend was that girly girl Rose."

"That is indeed Juleka, and she was one of my closest friends along with almost all the girls in my class." Marinette said and Momo understood what that meant given how close Marinette was to the girls of their current class. "And, well, while Juleka never actually came out we all suspected that she was gay especially given how she looked at and treated Rose. We would have accepted her no matter what, but Juleka never said anything about it, I think because she didn't want to make a big deal out of her sexuality or be treated any differently because of it. That and honestly I think she was scared of Rose rejecting her because Rose showed affections to a boy, so she was at best bisexual."

"That would actually be the case." Mage said surprising them. "When I was able to get back to France I learned of your classmates' histories and Rose and Juleka did end up together sometime after you vanished though by the time I was able to get an update they were married. Rose would become the primary breadwinner as a celebrated perfumiest while Juleka followed her mother's more atypical approach to life doing what she wanted. Because of that Juleka was the one who opted to become pregnant when they decided to have a family, for which they used a sperm donor. They would have a daughter and from her Cornaline is descended though she was orphaned during the war when her mother died in a terror attack."

"Oh." Marinette said as she processed the information. "Well good for them for finally coming to terms with their feelings for each other, I always knew they'd end up together. After my own crush on Adrien, Juleka's unadmitted one on Rose was the next obvious."

"Yeah even I picked up on it." Adrien admitted. "Though I thought it was more one sided on Juleka's part."

"It was certainly more obvious from Juleka's side, but I am glad that Rose accepted and returned those feelings." Marinette said with a smile as she flipped to the final folder to reveal a short but muscular man with pale skin, long black dreadlocks, and kind looking eyes. "This looks like some descendent of Ivan and Mylène."

"That's because he is." Fei said as Marinette looked over the profile. "Sourus as he goes by these days is their great-great-great grandson and the newest member. I was his partner on my stint in Francois Dupont before the one that sent me to China again so my 7th stint though he returned to Paris after graduation. He's a strong guy and skilled with a two-handed battle mallet but he's got a kind and tender heart at the same time and his Quirk is damned useful to have on your side in certain situations."

"Immunization?" Adrien asked reading it. "Huh, it allows him to temporarily inoculate himself to the effects of other Quirks. He has to have experienced a Quirk at least once to be immune to it during the activation period, which currently lasts for over an hour without being hit but diminished the more hits he takes, and afterwards it takes a long time to recharge before he can use it again. Intriguing. It could make him a wrecking crew if he wanted to be."

"Or a raging bull." Mage said with a grin. "The power is similar to Resistance, the power of the Ox Miraculous which grants immunity to other Miraculous abilities until the goal in the user's mind is accomplished. In fact, Sourus has been used in such a situation several times, especially with Cornaline behind him and ready to act, so he knows when to best use his Quirk."

"You really like goals." Momo said.

"What can I say, it makes things simple and ensures that there is a solid time frame for the power to be active during." Mage said with a shrug. "Anyway, those are the four candidates that Fei recommended to me and so I recruited them for this mission, after informing Demos that I was going to be using them for a mission so he can't use them in any of his schemes. Currently they are in Paris working on perfecting their baking and service for the bakery and café along with ensuring that their Japanese is up to scratch."

"Are they suitable?" Fei asked.

"I will refrain from telling them my connection to their ancestors, that is a secret that stays in this room for now and besides my new friends here have the first right to know when Adrien and I are ready to tell them of our true past." Marinette said, she'd need some time with Adrien to process this later, but she was ok for now in part thanks to their private night a few days ago reminding them that they are moving on for their friends and seeing how their friends lived happy lives and had children who had children further aided in that feeling. "But yes, they are suitable. I look forward to meeting them before bakery opens. On that front, what is the update on its progress?"

"The building is done, we've got full permission regarding work visas and what not to start the business with you as the own, well your family's estate as you are still a minor." Fei said as Marinette put the folders down on the table. "Nezu really helped smooth things over in that regard, so the next stage is getting the equipment in, marketing the grand opening, which is currently on track for Chinese New Year, and get the team in to situate them for what is to come. I want them in a fortnight before the opening to brief them on their duties and do some dry runs on their cover. As you know, one will be serving, one baking and cooking, and two as a maid and butler in the café part so they need to perfect all that."

"Yes that is fine with me." Marinette said with a nod. "I've sent you the menu items I'd like along with specific recipes for things that aren't family guarded secrets, but do you have a sample menu for me to look at."

"Yup, one for the bakery which will be standard take out menu of what is available at the time along with options for custom or bulk orders as is your family's policy and the other for the café." Fei said as she pulled out two laminated pieces of paper and handed them over to Marinette. "We are going with a mix of classic French staples along with traditional and popular Japanese and Chinese baked goods in the permanent menu for the bakery with seasonal items such as Yule Logs for Christmas, Valentines specials for valentines' day, and what not while also doing brief promotional items. The promotional items will be more esoteric goods and hybrid creations."

"That is a good place for them." Marinette muttered as she looked over the menu for the bakery which seemed in line with what she'd had back in Paris in her parents' bakery along with traditional Japanese ones she'd seen Sato make and some she didn't recognize that had to be Chinese or newer stables that had emerge during her and Adrien's 230 years or so in stasis outside the timeline. "And if the promotional items are liked?"

"Then they can become permanent menu items, I'm thinking of doing a quarterly vote for new permanent items in fact as a way to get more promotion from our customers, or made on personal request." Fei said. "We might also do special time periods for certain items if they are popular during specific times of the year or even times of the day."

"Works for me, I know that places do do that from time to time so it should work to keep things interesting and personalized custom items were always a stable of my parents' business." Marinette said with a nod as she put the bakery menu down and looked at the café one. "As for the maid café part, what are the plans there as I don't know it well?"

"We're going to make it more authentically French than what Japan usually does and as the servers will have French accents that are real given that it is their native tongue it will add to it all." Fei said. "We are advertising it as the most authentic French maid and butler, it will be promoted as both, café around and we're not going for the fetishization or sexualization of it. Rather, it will be focused on the quality of the service and food which will be mainly French dishes in line with what to expect at a maid café though we will have some more traditional ones for those who like them and some hybrid and personal options as well."

"Yeah Adrien and I went to a maid café once in that mall when Shigaraki showed up." Marinette said reminding them of that incident well. "It was nice but a bit much, I'd like it to be more in line with a typical French café though of course made to appease the Japanese tastes for these things."

"Which we will go for as this is primarily a bakery with an additional café above it for those who want it." Fei said. "The bakery will be the primary money maker after all with the café's profits adding to it if it can gain profits. Once the others are in I'll have them whip up samples of everything from both menus for your final approval."

"Thank you." Marinette said putting the café menu down. "I'd like to have a big party there for both hero classes, as well as inviting Mirio and Eri to it, along with Hado and Amajiki for that matter as they've also helped out the classes, to celebrate the grand opening. Ideally it would be the night before and we can do a buffet of the café items to sample them and mingle with plenty of the pastries. If that is possible Principal."

"With the abilities of the staff at the bakery, along with at least 4 teachers given the numbers that we're dealing with, it can be done." Nezu said with a nod. "I'll get a start on the paperwork for permission. The bakery, once opened, will be on the approved off campus locations list though as with everything off campus you'll still need to fill out a permission slip to go there, no exceptions even for the owner though of course no one but the people here will know that you are actually the owner Miss Dupain-Cheng."

"I don't expect any." Marinette said shaking her head before looking back to Fei. "Is that all for the bakery?"

"For now, yes." Fei said with a nod. "The update was to inform you that we are on schedule with the planned opening, show you the profiles of the team assigned to it and the menus for your approval. You will of course have final say and things will be subject to your changes but those can be dealt with as they come up."

"And the prices that are listed?" Marinette asked. "We always made sure to be affordable. Quality and cost are keys to our business. When you're the best in Paris at baked goods while also being reasonably priced it means a lot."

"Already calculated." Fei said. "It will turn a profit following the standard business model your parents established back in the day that is still used in all the Dupain bakeries worldwide. In addition, any unsold goods being donated to food banks at the end of the day as is your family's policy. They will be affordable but subject to the price of making them plus need for profit after taxes as that is just good business. The personalized orders which will naturally cost more, along with bulk orders and catering contracts once we are established, will help increase profits but we have to make sure that it is all in the black especially with the café part as that is the riskiest."

"I understand." Marinette said. "It's not essential to be super profitable, just enough to justify it being there and to not bring unwanted attention to it given what it's other purpose is."

"Of course not." Fei said with a grin. "All is factored in, I've had experience running these kind of undercover fronts in the past, though never a bakery, so I know what I'm doing in general at least."

"It's why I chose her." Mage said. "Along with how the Prodigious is connected to the Miraculouses and her experience with Hawk Moth so Fei can be brought into the loop about you two without much of an issue."

"I thank you all for this." Marinette said. "It's going to help a lot and being able to share it with the classes will be great."

"It's our pleasure." Mage said. "I owe you two a lot for my mistakes so I'll do what I can to make things smooth for you here as you transition fully into this new life that was forced upon you."

"Thank you." Adrien said. "It does mean a lot that you are making up for what happened, without you and U.A. Marinette and I would have been lost."

"We just jumped on the chance to have such students here and you two have proven that more than even I predicted." Nezu said as he finished his second cup of tea and set it down for another refill. "But if that is all for the bakery the next thing I have is the plans for New Year's Eve and why Miss Yaoyorozu is here."

"It's all I can think of for now but if I have any questions I'll message Fei." Marinette said. "So go on sir, what are the plans for New Year's Eve as things have been a little hectic lately."

"Yes well it is because of that that we've managed to allow for the students in the Hero Course to go home for a bit on New Year's Eve so long as they have a teacher escorting them even if this whole plan was quite last minute." Nezu said to Adrien and Marinette's surprise, but Momo knew this thanks to her mother's call that morning and suddenly it all hit her why she was here. "But, well, you two are foreigners here and while it is a good idea for you to go back to Tokyo as you can just start your work studies there right away as they begin on New Year's day, it does seem a bit lonely that the others can be with family when you can't be."

"We know why we can't be." Adrien said. "We aren't from this time period and we're not in France at the moment so it's not a big issue."

"Which is why the Principal asked me here." Momo said as she knew what she had to do. "I know the truth and I agree that you two deserve a proper break that you can't have but I can offer you one if you want it. My family always has a large New Year's party at our home and this year is no exception though they didn't expect me there at first. Regardless, they won't begrudge me two friends who I've told them about, well the cover at least as I had to explain why I can now speak French to them. In fact, I'm sure that they'll love having you two for it and my father would certainly be interested in working with the Agreste family. It will be a great place to network, have fun, and dress up."

"That does sound nice." Marinette said amazed at Momo's offer. "Are you sure that it is ok though?"

"It will be." Momo said with a smile. "I think my mother would really like to see more of my friends there, especially seeing as I did my first work study with you two. She loved having Jiro, Mina, Sero, Kaminari, and Ojiro over for our study group and she'll want to meet you two. You will need fancy clothes."

"Not a problem." Adrien said. "I am the son of a fashion mogul who's family is now one of the biggest in that sphere, so I have plenty of clothes and Marinette has her own style and line of formal wear. I just want to make sure that we're not imposing on you."

"You won't be." Momo said shaking her head. "It will be great, I know it."

"Yes well we still need permission from your parents Miss Yaoyorozu." Nezu said bringing them back to reality. "But it should be fine and as Mage is their guardian and a teacher here he can be the chaperone for all of you freeing up a teacher to escort another student."

"That would work well, my parents would love to meet my first work study mentor and show off that a Guardian is at their party, the agency is well renowned globally after all." Momo said excitedly looking to Mage. "But it might be best for Mage to bring a date as this is a big party and a single man would stand out there."

"Not me." Fei said shaking her head. "It's not right given our stations and besides, I am heading to Shanghai for the New Year's to spend it there as I have a little time off coming to me over the coming days. Well, that and I'm tracking a potential fugitive in southeast Asia and the office there is nearer so could help me pinpoint my prey."

"I understand, the power dynamic alone as he is your boss ensures that it wouldn't be appropriate." Momo said. "But that does leave Sanguina if she's still around."

"She is and as she is still head of the agency until the 1st when I am officially removed from my medical leave as that is roughly when a normal human who survived being run through by a sword should be recovered by." Mage said. "She can be my plus one and mingle there as her last duty as the head of the Japanese agency before she returns to the States and resumes her normal work there."

"Yes, she'll be a good choice." Momo said now really excited. "I'll call mother right away and make it so."

"That is a wise idea." Nezu said. "You are dismissed Miss Yaoyorozu. Please let the rest of us know if the idea is accepted."

"I will." Momo said as she got up, bowed to Mage and Nezu, and hurried out of the room, her tea long finished, and pulling out her phone as she left to call her mother and sort it out because she really wanted her friends at the party as they'd make it more fun for her even if she would enjoy it regardless.

"Well, I guess that is everything we have for your two as well." Mage said. "Same with you Fei, you are dismissed until the New Year, have fun in Shanghai and hopefully we can prevent that threat from reaching Japan. Keep me posted on any major developments on that front though."

"I'll do my best sir." Fei said getting up and bowing to him and Nezu. "Marinette, Adrien, always a pleasure. I will see you when you come for your second work study at the Guardian Agency, I am still a sidekick there as well as everything else I am up to at the moment, so I'll be working with you when not on my primary work here."

With that Fei turned and headed to the door to leave them. That was also the cue for Marinette and Adrien to get up as they could tell that the meeting was over.

"Thank you Mage, Nezu, for this update and the coming plans." Marinette said as she gathered the papers that Fei had given her before she bowed to them. "We are looking forward to them."

"Yes, it will be a last bit of fun before the work study." Adrien said with a smile as he too bowed and took their leave to enjoy some personal time and process what just happened.

"This is a nice thing for them to enjoy." Nezu said as the door closed, and he began his third cup of tea, which he had to get the recipe for as it was one of Mage's best to date. "It will be a good distraction for what is to come."

"It will be." Mage said. "Speaking of that I have a full update from Fei to give you as I've reviewed her memories and could use your brain to help formulate a plan, one that you heroes can do with information I've provided."

"Of course, I do enjoy the loopholes to your vows you've found." Nezu said as he put down the tea and looked to the immortal being in the room with him. "So, what's the situation?"

Mage took a deep breath before he briefed Nezu on all he'd heard from Fei and reviewed in her memories. It was a lot but with the information that Fei had provided and Nezu's help the heroes would stand a better chance in the coming battle and make no mistakes a battle was coming as the year drew to a close a the new one, a year that would change the world, began to rise.

Well, there is the update on the bakery, which will have some more chapters during the time skip filler arc including the opening party and meeting the staff, as well as Adrien and Marinette's plans for New Year's Eve which is the next evening in this story. The New Year's eve chapter, which is the next one, is based off one of the Class 1-A family New Year's tales that were between chapters in the 5th School Briefs book, in this case Momo's though the book contains Ochaco's, Tsu's, and Jiro's as well. There will be another School Briefs book 5 inspired chapter after the Endeavor Agency arc to look forward to as well which should be good as Marinette and Adrien's presence does add a lot of fun changes to it that I am looking forward to getting to and it will also kick off the filler arc that is still open to suggestions for chapters during it as I've only planned about 7 of the 16 chapters for it so far. Lastly, the 4 staffers shown in this chapter in folders are all considered OCs in this story and subject to all OC rules in my stories and their names are in some way tied to either their ancestors in some way or the Miraculouses associated with them. That is all I have for y'all so I will end this chapter here. As always, if you like it or have any questions please let me know in reviews or PMs, I will try to answer them as best I could and post any questions asked between uploads at the start of the next chapter and do follow and favorite this, so you are alerted to future uploads. Do keep the reviews coming as I like hearing from y'all as you enjoy my work, it motivates me to keep producing the best work I can for y'all to enjoy. Until next time.
