Hatsukoi
She remembers his awkward but adorable eagerness when he all but jumped in front of her to introduce himself. He was like a crisp autumn breeze shaking the leaves from her tree. She didn't know what came over her when she sent him a sultry smirk telling him to be as Chalant as he'd like. She got what she wanted though, a genuine brilliant smile. She can feel once again how hard her heart pounded in her chest, begging her to make a move as she pulled him into that fiery New Year's kiss. She smiles as she reminisced about their many other firsts: first date, first dance, first sleepover, and so much more. Her cheeks redden and heat up as she replayed their first time making love. His words still sound clear as day to her: "Can I hold you like you are mine?"
After the bliss came the downfall. Work, duties, lies kept them apart. They drifted away like ships at sea. There were little things that brought them joy and little things that brought them pain. One day it couldn't be helped, and they were done.
Now, she stands in the rain watching him just across the street. He doesn't see her. Her heart beats so loudly she can't hear what he's saying. She can't tell if it's rain or tears streaming down her cheeks. He's right there within reach. She wants to chase him. So desperately she wants her legs to move. But they don't. They remain frozen. She watches him as he opens an umbrella and pushes a wheelchair. Sitting on it is a girl with fiery red hair. The redhead says something, and he laughs. They walk away down the street. She continues watching them, watching him. She realizes now that the maddening beating in her chest, the tears she can't hold back, this feeling of want and need, the undeniable urge to chase the breeze that left too soon, all that is her first love. Her Hatsukoi that she wishes she never let go...
