Baby It's Cold Outside
Zatanna shivered as she laid on her side of the bed. She clutched the big fluffy comforter as closely as she could but that didn't help much. It was absolutely freezing outside. Mentally, she wondered why exactly people loved a 'White Christmas' so much. Suddenly, a pair of arms wrapped around her stomach. A leg rested on her hip. Warmth immediately cocooned her as her beloved boyfriend nuzzled into her neck.
"I told you to wear pants to bed last night," Dick teased quietly into her ear.
"Mmmm but the freedom of my knees in the breeze feels so good!" she whined, "Besides, would you have held me like this if I wore any pants?"
"You know I absolutely would've," he kissed her ear.
"Ok fine, yes you would. What time is it?"
"A little after ten."
"WHAT?" she exclaimed, "Dick, we've got to get up! There's so much to do today!"
Zatanna tried to jump out of bed, but Dick hugged her even closer as his legs began tangling with hers. She struggled and shimmied to her best, but somehow lazy Dick firmly kept her in bed.
"Dick, baby, we have a long day ahead of us. I've got to get ingredients for the lasagna I'm making for M'gann's Christmas party. Then I have to finish the last few Christmas cards. You have to help Alfred with the tree at the manor. Gah, I don't even have anything to wear to Bruce's gala tomorrow!"
"But baby, it's cold outside," he whined as he snuggled closer to her.
"Dick, on any given day, I'd love to just be lazy and lie with you in bed, but we really really have to go."
"Mmm but your hands feel like ice," his fingers threaded with hers.
"I really can't stay. You know my lasagna takes like at least two hours to make. Fresh pasta from scratch isn't easy!"
"Baby, it's bad out there. We can get up later."
Gently she tried to nudge him with her elbow. Her anxiety was getting the best of her as her mind went a million directions trying to think if she had time to go to the grocery store, make the lasagna, send out Christmas cards, and pick out something to wear for tomorrow night's gala. Meanwhile, Dick had snuck his hand under her tank top and rested it on her chest.
"Are you serious…" she rolled her eyes.
"Just trying to warm up all parts of your body, that's all," he chuckled giving her a gentle squeeze.
"Really, Dick, we need to get going."
"But baby, it's cold outside."
"Alfred will get worried."
"Eh he'll understand."
"My lasagna?"
"Magic."
"Dress shopping for the gala?"
"You'd look stunning in a potato sack. Now come here," he turned her to face him.
With a hand on her cheek, he pulled her into a sweet kiss. Finally relenting, she relaxed to his touch and let all her worries wash away. As they broke apart, she hugged him close to her and snuggled into his chest. He rested his face in her hair and took a deep breath breathing in her coconut shampoo.
"Maybe staying in bed wouldn't be soooo bad," she admitted rubbing his back.
"Of course it isn't. It's freezing out there!"
