The inescapable march of time. We are forever burdened by its-
(Craft) Enough existential shit! Lets watch 2 badass time soldiers fight to the death! Like Link, The Multi-Incarnate Champion of Hyrule!
(Zach) and Crono, The Time Jumping Hero of Guardia. I'm Zach, their Ender and Craft
(Ender) And its our job to analyze their weapons, armor and skills to find out who would win A Death Battle
Centuries ago, the world was ravaged by demons and their leader: Demise. However his reign was cut short by a hero clad in green and a descendent of the goddess Hylia. With his final breath, he cursed the goddess' bloodline and the spirit of the hero to forever be haunted by the personification of his anger. A curse that persits to this day.
(Craft) Every 100 years or so this curse would take out its revenge on the world. And every time its cut short by the reincarnated hero who stopped Demise originally! Kinda screwed yourself over with THAT one eh?
(Zach) No matter how many times darkness and evil rises, the Hero will rise and strike it down. And this hero's name: is Link
*cue Zelda Main Theme
(Craft) That's an awful lotta pressure to put on a pointy eared kid in tights. But no matter which Link it is, he's aways up to the challenge!
(Ender) Over the many centuries, and many game appearances, there have been at least 12 different variations of the Hyrulian Champion, each with their own unique abilities. For this fight, we will be sticking mainly to the gear he uses the most often across games, with a few exceptions. But because every Link is connected their feats and abilities should be comparable.
(Zach) That being said, Link comes into combat with a wide array of different tools and weapons.
(Craft) Bombs, giant hammers, boomerangs, grappling hooks. He's got some deep pockets in that skirt! *shouts behind himself* DO SKIRTS EVEN HAVE POCKETS!?
(Zach) As well he wields the Hero's Bow, along with several different arrow types
(Ender) Fire arrows burn foes on contact, Ice arrows freeze them solid, Shock arrows paralyze and disarm them, Bomb arrows explode. But his 2 strongest arrow types are the instant kill Light and Ancient Arrows
(Craft) One shot from either of these bad boys and there is no comin back! And that's not all the magic he's got packing!
(Zach) Link carries on hand various potions to restore his health, stamina and magic. His Iron Boots supports his stance, making him nearly impossible to knock over, and his Power Bracelet grants him incredible physical power. His Magic Rod can be imbued with elemental abilities, granting him control of flames, ice, electricity, even sand.
(Ender) Link has also been known to make use of several magically imbued instruments. But none are as iconic or as powerful as the Ocarina of Time. By playing various songs, Link can summon storms, cure curses, and speed up, slow down or even reverse the flow of time.
(Craft) He's also got a handy piece of tech known as the Shiekah Slate! Think of it like a Zelda-era IPad. Only instead of Angry Birds and Fruit Ninja, Link gets Remote Bombs, A powerful magnet, the ability to create blocks of ice, and A Jojo Reference!
(Ender) Stasis allows link to Freeze any foe or object in place, allow him to build up damage while they cannot defend themselves. However the effect is weaker the stronger his foe is
(Zach) His magic isn't only limited to his items however. Link knows a variety of helpful spells himself. He can heal his own wounds, summon bolts of lightning, transform himself into a fairy, summon flames, reflect projectiles and increase his defenses. With Mipha's Grace he can even revive himself from certain death once.
(Craft) But even with ALL of that, there is still one weapon ALL links are more then familiar with: The Master Sword!
(Ender) This duel edged blade may not appear very threatening, but there's a reason its earned the title of Evil's Bane. The Master Sword repels dark magic and curses. It can reflect and absorb magic, shoot beams of energy whenever Link is at full health, and even absorb lightning from the sky to fire off waves of energy beams known as the Skyward Strike. It can also be powered by 3 magic medallions, allowing it to create massive earthquakes, explosions and lightning bolts
(Zach) But Link does not rely purely on offense. He wears the Red Ring, reducing damage by 75%. He can also dawn several different armor types to make him immune to elemental based attacks, but his greatest mail is his Magic Armor, which, as long as he has magic power or rupees on hand, makes him completly invulnerable.
(Craft) But his absolute ace in the hole defense is his Hylian Shield. It was created by some old thunder dragon eons ago, and is borderline indestructible!
(Ender) Having been through multiple adventures through 12 generations, Link has faced monsters and threats large and small, and has pulled through every single time
(Zach) He can dodge lasers and reflect lasers-which would require reaction speeds upwards of 1/10th the speed of light, survive getting thrown into solid stone walls, and the Adult Hero of Time once lifted and threw an entire pillar of solid granite, which would weigh upwards of 1000 tons.
(Craft) He can take on powerhouse villains without issue, including Majora! Whose power was strong enough to corrupt reality itself! But with all that power, he isnt exactly a perfect warrior
(Ender) While his arsenal is wide, the majority of it is actually used Moreso for puzzle solving or exploration, not physical combat. In a fight he typically relies only on his wits and his sword. And he HAS been defeated before.
(Zach) But as often as he falls, he gets right back up again. And all evil doers in the land of Hyrule, heed my advise: Run

*cue Guardia Millennial Fair
The year is 1000 AD. The Kingdom of Guardia was celebrating the turn of the millennia with a grand festival for all to enjoy.
(Craft) With such attractions as Foot Races, Strongman Hammer challenges, and fighting a giant autonomous singing robot! We've all been there
(Zach) Attending the festival was 17 Year old Crono, an average young boy living with his mother, and his inventor friend Lucca, who was excited to show off her new invention
(Craft) 2 Seconds to guess what happened. Times up! The machine malfunctioned and accidently send a young girl named Marle backwards in time! Why do these mad scientist types never test these things BEFORE potentially murdering someone. So they did the only logical thing: Go in after her!
*cue Main Theme (Chrono Trigger)
(Zach) Though successful in their mission, Crono and friends soon discovered a horrifying secret. In the year 1999, the world and humanity as they knew it would be attacked and destroyed by a monster known as Lavos. A fate Crono saught to avoid
(Ender) They would go back to the past and destroy Lavos before it ever had a chance to come to earth.
(Craft) But how could a couple normal kids do that you may ask? Come on this is the world of JRPGs! Normal kids are never normal! In Crono's case, after meeting this weird pink...emoji thing named Spekkio, he unlocked his latent magic powers! And started kicking ass across time!
(Ender) Crono wields the Rainbow Blade, a powerful katana created from an ancient fossil and a powerful Sun Stone. Not only is this blade incredibly powerful, but Crono is able to wield it even more effectively then most trained soldiers
(Zach) He channels his skill into various Techs. Cleve rockets him over a foe's head to catch them by surprise, and with Frenzy he moves quickly around his foe with a flurry of slashes
(Craft) Don't forget my favorite, Cyclone! Which turns him into a red haired Beyblade of pain. But its not all fancy sword tricks. Crono has access to some seriously strong magic attacks
(Ender) He can summon bolts of lighting, revive allies from death, fire condensed wind projectiles from his sword. But his ultimate move is Luminaire, an all-encompassing explosion of light magic that no foe will escape unscathed. But any good fighter knows, Offense is only half the equation
(Zach) Crono wears the Regal Plate, increasing his stamina and magical defense. As well he would likely wear the Master's Crown, increasing his damage output and making him immune to status effects, and the Prism Spectacles, even further increasing that power
(Craft) Crono's got some pretty deep pockets, and always comes with a variety of items on hand for emergencies. Like potions to restore his HP, Elixers to restore his Magic, and a MegaElixer that can do both! And some Barrier and Shield Spheres to increase his physical and magical defense. Quite the kit this guy has, and good thing too! Cause he goes through it!
(Ender) He's destroyed a tank with nothing but his sword, moved faster then the eye can track, and can take massive flaming explosions head on and keep standing.
(Zach) He's even managed to pierce the shell of Lavos, which survived atmospheric reentry with 0 damage. This crash into earth caused a massive extinction level event just by it smashing into the planet. By comparing it to the meteor that killed the dinosaurs, this means Lavos' shell withstood a force of up to 72 Teratons of TNT
(Craft) And Crono managed to damage it!
(Ender) However, Crono is still young and was never properly trained. His magic also has limits and, at least when compared to his teammates, is very basic
(Zach) Speaking of teammates, Crono is also use to fighting on a team, not usually solo.
(Craft) But that didn't stop him from going out like a man, getting brought back to life, then kicking the shit out of Lavos anyway! The world may never know the fate it avoided, but we can all thank Crono for the world we still have
*victory fanfare*

(Craft) ITS TIME FOR A DEATH BAAAAAAATTTTLLLLE! Through Time!
The whir of a machine...the melodic sound of an instrument...somehow 2 heroes fates intertwined
Shatter!
Location: Realm Outside Of Time
In a white void, Crono and Link groan as they stand up, seeing nothing around them. Nothing they recognized at least...until their eyes fall on each other. In silence, they both slowly reach for their sword...
FIGHT!
*cue Battle with Magus
Link and Crono clash swords, pushing against each other with a glare. Crono pushes link backwards and fires wind slashes out towards the hylian, who counters with his own sword beams. The projectiles flash in the air and through the smoke, Crono jumps through and swings down at Link. The champion rolls out of the way and runs up, slashing Crono 3 times in the side. Crono stumbles before dodging another sword swing and slashing Link upwards into the air. He then jumps up and slashes down, bringing Link back down to the ground. Link, having blocked the downward slash with his hylian shield, knocks the time warrior backwards and charges up a Spin Attack. Crono lands as 'Cyclone' appears above his head. The two warriors then spin into each other, clashing hits like spinning tops, ending with both wielding back and clashing sword on sword again. Crono pushes forward, making Link skid back with his feet planted. Link gasps before ducking down and kicking Crono in his gut, knocking him into the air. Crono falls to the ground, standing and holding his gut before an arrow flies past his head. He look up at Link, who was now aiming his Hero's Bow. Crono holds his sword close as he runs to close the distance. The Hyrulian Champion fires more arrows at him, but Crono slices through them with ease. Link jumps backwards, narrowly avoiding Crono's slash, before shooting an Ice Arrow, freezing Guardia's Hero in place. But the freeze doesn't last long thanks to the Master's Helm as Crono breaks free effortlessly, closing the distance once more and slashing at Link 5 times in quick concession. Link blocks the next slash with his shield as Crono snaps his fingers. 'Lightning' appears above his head as Link gets electrocuted through his shield and then kicked away by the Guadinian.
Link huffs as Crono rushes him again. Link takes out his bow and fires a bomb arrow at the approaching hero, who jumps over it with 'Cleave' Link jumps out of the way of the falling swordsman, rolling around and slashing him in the back. Crono stumbles forward before turning and clashing blades with Link once more. The two rapidly swing at each other, metal meeting metal every time. Both wield back for a big hit. Link puts on his Iron Boots for extra footing as the two strikes ring against each other, seemingly cracking the void they were standing on. Crono shouts and pushes hard, knocking the master sword out of Link's hands. Link gasps before backflipping Crono's follow up. The Hyrulian takes out his Skull Hammer and swings down, barely missing Crono, who jumps backwards. Link swings the hammer around, barely missing the time fighter each time. Crono jumps up and slashes the handle of the hammer, breaking it. Link jumps backwards again, this time taking out his Magic Rod. He shoots a volley of fire balls at Crono, who slashes through and closes the gap, slashing Link across his chest. Link coughs up blood as he skids backwards on his back panting. Crono runs at him once more with a raised blade as Link aims his Sheikah Slate at him, freezing him with stasis. While frozen, Link drinks a quick Health potion before taking out a Bomb and tossing it in Crono's path, readying his shield. The Stasis wears off as Crono flies right into the bomb, exploding and sending both fighters flying backwards. Link springs off his hands and grabs his Master Sword once more as Crono slides down a wall of the void. He sheathes his sword and holds his arms to the sky 'Lightning II' appears as massive bolts of lightning surround Link. The champion holds his sword up as the lightning gets absorbed into it, allowing the Hyrulian to launch the Skyward Strike. Crono jumps over it, but Link had predicted that as he had already fired his Hookshot, snagging Crono's foot and dragging him to his location. Once close, Link jumps and uses a Spin Attack, striking Crono multiple times in the air before knocking him away with a kick. Link then holds his sword down below him, attempting to finish the job but Crono jumps out of the way, countering with another Cyclone attack, hitting the Hylian multiple times. Link blocks another sword strike with his Hylian shield and swings the Master Sword down at Crono, who ducks out of the way and backflips away. Crono then holds his arms up as 'Luminaire' appears above his head. Link holds the Master Sword up high as the Bombos Medallion glows. The two then point their attacks at the other, creating a massive explosion of Light Magic and Fire.
The arena around them shatters, leaving only the floor and floating pieces of surfaces. Crono pants as he stands up. He takes out his MegaElixer and drinks it, restoring his strength. He looks around in silence before...
"It's my pleasure..."
He looks and sees Link rise from a pile of rubble, also back to health. The two stare the other down
*cue King Bulblin
The two rush each other once more, clashing blades. Link pushes Crono backwards, shooting a bomb arrow point blank. Crono flies backwards before correcting himself in mid air and landing on a floating piece of surface. He then jumps off of it, flying towards Link with an outstretched blade. Link blocks with his shield but Crono jumps behind him and slashes him twice in the back, dodging the hero's backwards slice by jumping and slashing him 3 more times in the chest before kicking him backwards. Link stands up as his gaze becomes sharp. Crono runs at him and begins running all around with 'Frenzy' Link focuses his mind and backflipos over Crono's slash, shocking the hero. Landing behind, Crono turns to attack only for the Master Sword to be thrusted into his chest. With shaking eyes Crono stumbles backwards as Link draws his sword back, turning away. Crono reaches for his sword once more but falls to his knees and soon lays on the ground, lifeless. Link takes out his Ocarina and begins to play a song, as if sending off the warrior for such a good battle
K.O!
Link continues to play his ocarina before being teleported away by a time portal. Meanwhile, Lucca looks around the fair. Confused as to where Crono went
(Craft) Now thats what I call a battle!
(Zach) Crono was a tough warrior and he was never going to go down easy. But ultimately, he didn't have enough to take down Link
(Ender) With 12 Generations at his back, Link has far more experience in combat then Crono, who grew up in a time of peace and only starting fighting at 17. Not to mention Link has fought several more wars solo then Crono
(Craft) Crono's magic was freaking nuts! But it had a limited run. Link also has limit on his magic, true, but with his Bow, Bombs and Sheikah Slate he could keep fighting Crono from a distance even after both their magic dried up! Plus, Link had a second chance to win thanks to Mipha's Grace
(Zach) Link's arsenal was certainty massive, but the vast majority of it could only get him so far. But most of Crono's spells were easily countered by the Master Sword. Crono fought a monster that could corrupt time, but Link fought a monster who could corrupt all of Reality
(Ender) Crono piercing Lavos' shell proved he was clearly the physically stronger of the two. Both also shared relatively similar speed feats. And Link was the more properly trained of the two. So in a swordsmanship department, it could have gone either way
(Craft) But Link had way more tricks up his sleeve. Like his Ancient or Light Arrows, which could have ended the fight in an instant, and his Magic Armor making him completly invincible! Crono had no answer for any of that! Shame too, that death was pretty graphic. We probably should have put in a...Trigger warning?
(Ender) ...The winner is Link
Link:
+Superior Arsenal
+More Experience
+Training
+More akin for Solo battles
+Master Sword countered Techs
=Speed
=Scale of Enemies
-Weaker
-Arsenal was mostly countered
Crono
+Stronger
+Immune to Link's status effects
