Chapter 21: What Could He Being Doing Without Me?

/

Long wait, never fear!! Here we go, continued!!

/

Raven and Cy were busy mentoring new heroes every second of the day. They'd come to the conclusion that the steady leap in meta – kids was about to double, knowing that the League couldn't just police the world to prevent this calamitous prediction from coming to be. Raven sat cross legged by the sofa, her only time to do so as Kori bounded in the door with her tummy as round a preppy as her spirits were during a mommy - mood swing.

"I have come baring the gifts of a friendly visitation, dear Titans! I humbly ask that I am allow –

"Star!" Bb bounded up with a more adult appearance, Blue Beetle and a youthful fae - like child known as Djinn (On the team with Dami in comics) joined him as Djinn floated, telepathically giving good vibes while Kori just became even more alive with the promise of a new hope to her city's protection.

"You must all be the proud of this team that you are now a big part of." She beamed, eyes swinging over to Cyborg at the computers by the window and Kid Flash driving by and through the door with a wild pant.

"Ann…. I ...made it…. was…was her kid born yet? –

The room lost its joy at his timing, Starfire bursting into tears as her mood swing hit an all-time high.

"You…. you do not ask how I am doing, y…. yet…yet…. you are so rude, kid!!" Cy rushed over as Starfire fell into his arms, her eyes worn and her body quaking as the room's inhabitants all glared at the speedster. "I… I'm sorry! Dick and I never talk, so I thought –

~ Quiet, please. ~ Djinn spoke through the team's link. ~ You, have done and said enough. ~

/

Starfire had dreamed of her planet Tamaran, burnt to the ground with so many of her people murdered before her eyes. She saw Richard as a Titan again, and she was there –

It was only until she'd awoken from that dream that she cried, and cried while wishing to know the reason behind it. " Rekmas…they have won…as I had feared…" She sat up this time in a room with a magical spirit – girl. Djinn did not smile or try to socialize, she just fluttered about and gathered anything that she had read Kori might need as an expecting mother to be.

"I do not blame Kid Flash…. I too am not sure, yet there is a superstition on my planet that if one does not celebrate their happiness, the REKMAS will devour their last bit of truth and their friendship shall…"

Djinn put a smaller hand onto Kori's long fingers, shaking her curls about. ~ The friendship you speak of cannot be over, the child is a bridge between worlds if it comes into this world as you desire. I may not know what future they will have, yet I can promise that you will not be alone to face it. Family is where you live, and the Titans thank you as a dear friend in helping them. My team leader and I do not hate… ~ She turned her head, Kori trying to ask the girl to finish her sentence. "Who? Is it not Blue Beetle? Or –

~ Damian, Robin is…right now guilty. He is here. ~ Djinn told the heroine who looked a bit lost, confused as to why he was not in Gotham. "Dami…. that boy was not a "fan" of me…I do not believe it best –

~ You will stay, he will not be able to tell you. Cyborg directs us at the moment, he is…currently on a small probationary period, I am told. ~ Djinn explained, that making sense by his short fuse. "He…. he did not hurt anyone…" Starfire asked. "He was, he did not threaten his team?"

~He was, a bit irrational; he tried to make himself a small king of a nameless army, yet we could not follow. He may need you more now, now that you are here. He is not allowed to go back to his mentor until he learns the value of "friends." ~

"Friend…. I, couldn't imagine that he will be dishonest, and I shall not forget to forgive." Starfire raised her eyes. "I would like you to take me to his room, where he is…if you please…. Djinn?"

/

Raven looked at Cyborg, while KF looked at Bb who shrugged, ears drooped at not Blue Beetle. Jaime Reyes groaned and tossed his unmasked head back. " Gah! If no one of you'll tell her, then I will!"

" Not now." Raven hesitated to say, her hood lowered as Cy saw the rings around Raven's violet orbs. "None of us will do it without talking to the SAME man who broke those two up." Cy brought a hand to the table in front of him. They were all briefing in a secluded place away from Kori, Dami and Djinn would be told later. She was still not great with keeping others' secrets. "WAYNE is seriously had…" Gar growled as no shock to the fact he'd wanted the two fighters to tie that long distance knot.

"Rae. We can find Kori's –

"No. That's far too dangerous, and it could be a way to get to Starfire like before…or us." She frowned, BB's ears dropping back again. "Then…we call up the Dark Knight and plead for him to lift the restraining order? Chica, can that go anymore wrong?? What's that man even up to?"

Cy shook his head. "That's classified. Even we aren't sure if Wing is even IN Bludhaven anymore."

"He is…not??"

The team turned, the face of Djinn flushed and ashamed as Kori panted, her eyes wide and looking around the room at her so-called former teammates. "Tell me that is not true…Dick, Dick would never give up on his dream –

"We don't know yet, Star…" Gar bit his lip, the rest reserving their words as Starfire only stomped up to Cy's face and scowled at him. "YOU are supposed to be there for one another! Dick would not try to leave his post…he cares for the just way in handling his city and we supported him…Batman…I shall go to him and –

"We can't!" Jaime exclaimed. "Not yet. He's still…M.I.A until further notice. Batman is doing all he can. But I can't tell you and neither can he. I'm sorry, we're doing all we can right now to keep you safe…and he's out there. I believe he's still a hero too."

"I am making a call." Kori turned and pulled out a unit from the Outsiders instead of the Titans. "The ones who shall not let me "the down" are no longer in this room." With a swish of her fiery mane, she left. For Dami, he saw her leave from his window and plucked up his cell. The line was clear.

"Starfire can't be trusted." So, he connected to Wayne's line and simply, waited.

Bruce Wayne muttered under his breath at the caller I.D. "Damian, it's after hours here in Gotham. I'm still in the office –

~ Father, you must warn Todd that he's going to be expecting an annoying visitor in mere hours. ~ Dami paced his room and spoke in a near whispered rasp. ~ Grayson has again failed to uphold order in his own city – have you not located his accomplice's last recorded location, yet? ~

"I haven't, yet I don't have to." Bruce turned up the volume on the television screen; a red lined suit and a girl with Deathstroke's colors. "Jason is handling it, and Starfire won't interfere. She's still carrying their daughter." The man said to his son. "I want you to keep this to yourself for now. Kori is a part of the Titans and it's either there or the temple in Tibet if you have any other complaints –

~ I…I don't want them to be together, because that child…. ~ Dami grumbled. ~ It deserved to grow up safely. I was not mad at her, I was mad…because Grayson was being wholly unrealistic. When you and mother…that was her cruel time with you. ~ The boy scratched his chin and sighed. ~ Father, did you not care for what they had decided as well? Why did you let her stay in Manhattan and Jump, not return her to Tamaran where…she'd be safe. ~

~Because Blackfire might seek her revenge on Kori and her child. ~ Bruce looked in to his files for months since and saw no connections or data that was at all useful in finding who had freed the second in line princess. How Kori was safer with the JLA and Titans seeing her as a part of their family, as a coordinator in the tower while Dami also took to the hype of a possibility to become the best he could be. Even better, even if that meant putting away his xenophobic belief that alien women and men could have lives to share together. That until Dick got over the thing that was putting his life into a spiral of consequences that even he'd have trouble fixing on his own, the rest would depend on him wanting to see little M'ari one day.

Dick had to grow up, and as close as he'd been it was more. Too much and Bruce needed him on the frontlines once more. He could put aside his woes tomorrow, yet why was Deathstroke goading the night- bird in broad daylight? Why was he even in Blud this long to begin with?

~Eventually, you'll need to realize that Kori is your instructor and you'll respect her and show her your best even if you want to run away. I know it feels off for you and all of these changes, Damian. ~ Bruce told the kid, the boy making a grumble sound as he held the cell in his grip, not wanting to hang up until he had his reason to let go. ~Don't tell her, I'll do it. That is what I want, to be truthful and not make any enemies here…yet, it is hard… ~

~That in time will be easier, son. ~ Smiled the billionaire a little. ~Go get some rest, stay and hold on to your friends as long as you can. You're more fortunate than you make things out to be, so don't take this life for granted. Ollie and Clark taught me that having a partner once in a while is a positive ideal; fighting super – villains like Darkseid have a lesson or two to impart, so don't give up and come home without at least being thankful for the same lesson…See you in the next few days. Meeting in five, have to prepare. ~
