Lyndy and Wyatt - Passing On The Borden Legacy

A Heartland Fanfic

Chapter One

Prologue

As I said with my first story, I am a big fan of Fanfiction as well as Heartland through season 13. My first story, "The Borden Family Legacy" has been a joy to write and it provides a view of what this family became with Amy and Ty as the foundation. And since I received a lot of interest I will continue to write. I still feel strongly that a story focused on the potential "future" Borden Legacy is needed specifically covering of course Amy and Ty as well as Lyndy, Wyatt and the rest of the Borden kids. This sequel sees the family 5ish years in the future. A lot has changed for the better but a lot has stayed the same. The Borden Family will continue to be the center of my storyline along with many of the other key characters. Please join me in seeing how this family has grown and developed. I hope to lay the foundation for the future of not only the entire family but each of its individuals characters and the part of the legacy they are a part of. In fact, after some encouragement from my readers, I am already contemplating a third story to make it a true trilogy. So, here are the characters:

I do not own the Heartland story and its characters both from the books and

television series. This story I present is my interpretation of the future of the Amy and Ty

Borden family. My story is fiction developed form the passion for this outstanding drama series.

There is some mature content throughout the story.

Amy and Ty Borden – Amy has continued to focus on her family and the flourishing business. Over the past five years she has watched her kids grow into amazing and mature young adults. But most of all her love for Ty has grown as well. They were so fulfilled watching each of their children enjoy the success and challenges each have experienced. But for her, the ability to continue to heal horses was her driving force. It was the memory of her mom, grandma and great grandpa that she used every day to help them and their owners. Over the last five plus years her notoriety along with the Marion Fleming Equine Center has continued to grow, now even expanding to Europe. With Ty they established several connections and had made a few trips to meet and work with come influential clients and discussions were underway to possibly create a satellite location in Europe. Along with Amy, Ty continued to focus on the medical well-being of horses and other animals. Over the last 5 years, along with the team, he had developed several innovative surgical and treatment techniques that were shared with other teams around the world. The partnership with the University of Calgary helped both Amy and Ty share their accomplishments with the world of horse care and veterinary medicine. It seemed that along with their backstory, of being a simple Albertan horsey girl and a juvenile delinquent made the accomplishments even more sought after. The couple was featured in multiple magazine articles, interviews and public speaking events. The University had coaxed them to continue involvement through guest lectures and events. As a reward they were both awarded adjunct professor positions, which for Amy was quite unique since she had no formal education in college outside of a few classes. The business continued to grow steadily, not as drastic as early on. But even with the personal, professional and business growth, their main focus and proudest achievement was the continuing growth and maturity of their children. Their kids meant everything to them and the rest became irrelevant when they came into play. Wyatt and Lyndy were in their last year of college and continued to grow as a loving couple. Annie and Addie were in college as well already starting to focus on the areas of learning they were driven to. Crazy Maddie was now a sophomore in high school and her dynamic personality was making her mark on both her school and personal accomplishments. And of course JT was in fifth grade, still developing as an amazing young man. The influence of his sisters and especially Wyatt was continuing to help him deal with any challenges that he was experiencing. Ever since the day Ty arrived at Heartland, so many years ago, the loved they shared was undeniable. They cherished each other and never missed an opportunity to share the love they had for the other. With the kids older, they made sure they had several weekends away throughout the year, including business trips and date nights. For those on the outside, the connection they had was one that everyone strived to achieve. A love that had resulted in an amazing family legacy and business. Ty and Amy loved each other completely and were living a life filled with love and their kids, who were living their dreams as well. Horses – Amy, Blaze and Ty, Triumph (Harley had passed a couple of years ago peacefully,)

Lyndy Borden and Wyatt Miller – The young couple's relationship has continued to develop and mature. As expected there were a few rough patches but nothing that the two of them couldn't work through. Their deep and passionate love and respect for each other always prevailed, somewhat like their parents. They were each in their last year of college. Lyndy has been excelling in the Equine program and included some business management courses to learn more about how to run the family enterprise. Her involvement with her mom and dad's continuing lectures showed the staff that she was not only an exceptional student and teacher but possessed skills aligned with her world renowned mother. For many it was uncanny how similar their intuitive approach and treatment of their equine patients were so identical. Wyatt, in the true sense of the word the son of Amy and Ty Borden was going to graduate early. His practical experience working with the vet team provided some advanced credits that applied to his certification as a vet. With some clinical time he would be officially certified as Dr. Miller, six months after graduation. The staff at the University joked that he emulated another person that achieved an early doctorate, Ty Borden. Lyndy was now teaching a couple of classes on Saturday morning at the dance studio for the younger kids. She really enjoyed it and liked that it kept her involved in dance. Many of the kids were from the families of staff at the ranch and she even had a couple of her second cousins as well. Like her mom she also kept riding and was helping Katie and Annie teach some of the younger members of the extended family to show jump. It became a part of her work routine and set well with the instructors at college who would showcase the work done at the ranch by bringing the classes on field trips there. Many of Wyatt and Lyndy's classmates were in the clinical program at the Equine Center and Vet Clinics. They were a pretty popular couple especially since they had an inside line to getting accepted. They were in a good place with graduation approaching and each of them to receive top honors. Amy and Ty understood their long term commitment to each other and even though Jack and Tim scoffed a little, they took their two bedrooms and created a small studio suite, keeping Lyndy's bedroom, opening it up to Wyatts room to make a small lounge area, adding a bathroom. Wyatt and Lyndy respected what they had done and were reserved in their intimacy, although occasionally they took advantage of the privacy. Marriage had been discussed but they decided to wait until after graduation but Wyatt definitely had something in in the works. They loved their parents and siblings and respected their elders in the family completely, always there to help family and friends. Their relationship with Katie and Clay was stronger than ever, and they were both in the wedding party for Haley and Rusty's wedding a year ago. But one thing for sure, they loved each other deeply and always supported their partners' dreams. They learned from Amy and Ty and tried every day to emulate what they had and continue to grow their love. Lyndy's Horse – Sundance Wyatt's Horse - Star.

Annie and Addie Borden (The Twins) – Annie and Addie were still alike in looks but as they went through their high school years their individual personalities continued to develop and grow. They were still connected in that twin way, still able to feel the others thoughts and feelings. As always when stressed they communicated in their own special way as well. This was very evident during the turmoil of High School's ups and downs. As high school began, Annie was shocked when Jeremy had to move away due to his parent's divorce. She was devastated and Addie made it her mission to be there for her along with Lyndy. She dated other boys but none of them could match up. Luckily, he moved back the summer before their junior year and they reconnected and are as strong as ever. Addie is still with Desi as it seems the early bond they developed was a solid foundation that withstood the high school years. He was at a different school but still in town so their relationship continued to flourish. Annie was in the Equine program like her older sister and was doing very well. She continued to develop her horse skills gleaning from her mom, Katie and Georgie. But her true success was in the show jumping world. She had progressed to a high level and was competing all over western Canada. Georgie became her full time coach and the University of Calgary awarded her a scholarship to be a part of their renowned University team. The next stop was Olympic qualifiers and the feeling was that she would do well and have a chance to qualify for the Canadian team. Addie was excelling in school as well. Outside of the basic requirements she was taking some pre-mechanical engineering courses to see if it was something she wanted to pursue. Even though she was only 19, she had taken the lead on the regular maintenance of all of the company's equipment, from tractors to ATV's and Gators. She was also in charge of the maintenance of Ty and Lyndy's trucks along with the Norton and all three were running well. She was a frequent visitor to the shop class in Hudson where she was appreciating as well as regular visits to the shop class at Hudson High. Her natural skills and ability to learn new techniques and skills were uncanny. Even Jack let her help him at Heartland on the equipment there including his old truck. He told Ty and Amy that she was something else, even better that her dad was. Amy and Ty were hopeful that she would pursue a mechanical engineering degree but never forced her along with the rest of the kids. They were a joy for Amy and Ty along with many other members for the family. Their core group, that now included Camilla and Troy were a formidable force, spending a lot of time together. Bella and Maya found college to be more inclusive and had made several friends in the LBGTQ community. They weren't radicals but supported of those that needed help. All of them helped out at the ranch a lot and Camilla was also looking into was learning how to help horses by shadowing Annie and Katie. The twins were formidable together and as individuals. They loved their parents and siblings completely and had pledged to each other that they would always be there for them, especially each other. Horses, (Annie) Theo - Addie (Boone)

Maddie Borden – After basically owning middle school Maddie was now a sophomore at Hudson High. To say she was popular was an understatement. Caroline Walsh and her had become best friends along with Gwen. Sylvia had to move away with her parents but still kept in touch and visited from time to time. Ricky was still around and she still liked him a lot but they kept things on the down low. Each of them were so busy with class and other activities they decided to be close friends although her sisters had no doubt they were more than that. Amy called him a saint as Maddie was a lot to handle but he was always calm and supportive of her adventurous heart. Now in high school she really stepped up her involvement helping those that needed it. She organized fund raisers and food drives for families who lost a lot during the flood last summer. She continued to be an advocate for kids with special needs, who were being bullied or just needed someone in their corner. The annual Special Needs Rodeo, that started with her idea, continued and had gained national acclaim. She continued to lobby for sponsors and volunteers and it had grown significantly. This a little more in control 16-year-old was still a force to be reckoned with and had a reputation of always being there to help. She has always made it her personal mission in life to be there for her siblings, especially JT. Their bond had grown strong and she joined him in staying in touch with Grandma Lilly as she continued to fight her cancer. She was very interested and spent a lot of time with the therapy team at school, specifically the Occupational Therapy team. She liked all therapy but felt that area, was for her the most inviting. She had befriended the OT and something she said really reeled her in. She told her that all therapy is great but OT is different because they help someone learn how to do regular things even with a disability that held them back. She marveled at the interesting things the therapist would develop for the kids they worked with and decided it is what she wanted to do. It fit into her personality and drive to help others. Amy and Ty had met with her teaching team and counselor about her needs and had a plan to allow her more exposure to the field. Through some connections at the U of C they set up a weekly time where she could hang out with the Occupational Therapy class and observe. As expected she fit in nicely. She considered herself a very lucky girl and loved her parents, sisters and brothers completely. Horse - Mystic

Jackson Tyler (JT) Borden – Where to start. JT was born after the start of my last story and he is now 10 but in 5th grade. Amy and Ty along with the teaching team decided to keep him on the track they set when he first started school younger than all of his classmates. The age issue had gone away as JT had proven that he was mature enough to handle it and the other kids. He continued to mature into a young boy who was extremely smart and caring. He had an intuitive streak, always trying to learn new things and learn more about things he enjoyed. Trent had become his best friend and Shawna right there with him. The three of them made a pledge when Trent and Shawna's little sister Lexi was born to make sure she was always loved and protected. She was 4 years old and was a mini Mallory in looks and attitude. Although his life was filled with school, family and the ranch, the team put together to study his gift was still together and met with him regularly. JT continued to connect in his dreams with his grandma and great grandma, along with some other selected ancestors from time to time. But as he matured he gained a deeper understanding of the interactions and what they meant to him and his family. He never felt it was odd but more of an honor, one that he took very seriously. No one from the team ever treated him like he was different, along with his family and close friends. Lilly considered it a rare gift and always took the time to talk and listen to him about it when they chatted, which was often. Their relationship was still special and strong. They helped each other and made sure they never held anything back or kept secrets. Amy, Ty and Max, marveled at how close they were and during some tough times it seemed he always sensed it and made sure he spent extra time with her. But his strongest and most rewarding trait was how much he loved his mom and dad, his sisters and especially Wyatt. They continued to be close confiding in each other about their sisters and of course Lyndy and Shawna. JT realized that she was a big part of his life and Wyatt helped him navigate through their young relationship. Lyndy and Amy would often catch them whispering and loved both of them both even more because of it. It was apparent that he was and continued to be a special young man with a future that was full of opportunities. Horse – Blue Boy

Georgie and Steven Weber – From a work standpoint both Steven and Georgie continued to grow and be a part of the entire organization. Georgie basically had become Amy's partner and continued to handle some of the more difficult horses while training several highly skilled show jumpers. Her services were always sought but her number one student was still Annie. Preparing her for qualifiers was on the top of her list for sure and the training part of her role continued to build the prestige and reputation of the company even more that had happened already. Steven's vet skills continued to excel, especially surgically. Ty and Scott made sure his skills were always tested and he passed with flying colors. With the increase in business his role had grown along with the rest of the vet team. He was happy because it kept him close to Georgie and the kids. Their little man MT (Matthew Tyler) was getting ready for kindergarten and now all four of them would be in school. Georgie and Steven were both excited and nervous. Along with Katie their limited relationship with Peter had dwindled to nothing. It was a struggle for them but with the support of their mom, Soctt and their husbands they were Ok. Some modifications to their "Loft" home helped things work better for them and they really enjoyed living there. But most of all their love was also growing for each other. They would be caught more than once catching a hug or kiss in passing which of course was always met with hoots and hollers if they were caught. Georgie's Horse – Sky (Phoenix was retired and Checkers had passed)

Katie and Clay Foster – Katie and Clay continued to grow as a couple and a family. Little Sienna was starting first grade next year and her little sister, Amelia Louise, was almost 2 years old. After some bartering with GG they modified their 2nd floor living space at the Heartland Ranch house to accommodate the four of them. Jack and Lisa had been looking for a small place close so eventually Lou and Scott would move to the second floor and the Fosters would take over the first floor. It was all in the works and plans were in place when the time was right. Katie had secured her place as having and using the gift. Still under the tutelage of Amy and Georgie, she continued to take on new challenges. She had gained a reputation of working with jumping horses and riders specifically and it had become her specialty. Her relationship with Lyndy was stronger than ever and they were always caught talking to each other, especially since the anticipated proposal was coming soon. Clay's role in the company also continued to flourish. Along with Caleb they oversaw the demanding supply side of the business as well as the increased number of ranch hands. He also had his hand in the youth program that he was being groomed to take it over completely. They were a young couple and deeply in love. They loved hanging out with Lyndy, Wyatt, Haley and Rusty but luckily had a lot of cousins to watch the kids so they could have some time alone and a grandma and grandpa that adored them. Right now 2 kids seemed to work for them but they left the door open for another baby in the future.

Jack Bartlett and Lisa Stillman – Jack is still the patriarch of the entire clan and Lisa has become the matriarch. Jack has kept his seat on the Board but has completely walked away from any type of ranch work. Now in his 80's he enjoys fishing, especially with JT and Trent and hanging with the grandkids and great grandkids. Lisa still keeps her seat as the Chairman and consults many of the next generation of family who lead the company. She has relinquished all of Fairfield operations to Ben and Jenn Stillman but still owns 51% of the operation, giving 49% to them. They have considered moving to a small cottage type house close to Heartland that would allow the next generation to take over the Heartland ranch and house.

Lou and Scott Cardinal – Lou still owns Maggie's and the Dude Ranch and Scott retains ownership of the two Vet Clinics in Hudson. Lou as CFO, also continues to oversee the financial side of the company but has been bringing Mallory into the mix since she has more active in the overall business and has taken some college courses to support it. Scott continues to run the Cattle facility that use to be the original vet clinic. Along with Cass and Ty they continue to work with the younger vets to make sure they are well rounded in all aspects of what the team handles. They youth camp that was in his grandfather's name has become a benchmark in the Canadian Native American world and continues to flourish, producing great results. Scott's part is now a member of the Board of Directors as it is being run by the Native Counsel. Together they are a well-respected couple and amazing grandparents to their now 6 grandchildren.

Lilly and Max Walters – Lilly and Max still spend time during the year with both of their families splitting the year between Colorado and Hudson. Lilly has continued to struggle with her cancer and has had a few setbacks. Along with Ty and Amy, she has realized that every time it happens she is a little weaker but still feels strong, especially as she interacts with JT. During challenging times, one of them would fly to Colorado with JT and Lisa to be there for support, which always brought a smile to her face. Max has basically retired, although he still is the main legal counsel for H.E.E. His family has taken over the practice in Colorado and although he still has an office there, the business is thiers.

Ben and Jenn Stillman – As mentioned they have now taken control of Fairfield completely as it continues to be a vital part of the organization, after partnering with Briar Ridge. Lisa is involved but continues to step back allowing them to assume control. Once she totally steps back, Ben and Jenn will own 51% of the Fairfield operation and the other 49% will be owned by H.E.E.'s employees. Jenn also has continued her role of overseeing the lodging part of the company that includes the Dude Ranch and Fairfield. Juggling room needs is quite a challenge, but now that the kids are all in school full time she finds more time to do it. And like so many other things, Mallory assists her as well. Their home, set on the property, still works perfectly for them. As a show of good faith, the Board gave them Adjunct Board positions where they had the ability to provide insight and opinions on decisions but were not able to vote.

Caleb and Cass O'Dell – The O'Dell's have definitely become a power couple. Caleb completely oversees the supply ordering and ever growing ranch hand crew, with Clay's help, for the entire ranch operations. His skills continue to improve and the organization still saves substantial amounts of money through some of the efficiencies they have established. Cass's has joined Ty and Scott as a full partner in the veterinary clinic side for the company and has developed innovative surgical skills along with a specialization in acupuncture along with Dr. Ellie. A while back it was decided to enhance the bonus structure for all of the vet staff, including the techs as they knew the talent that they had was special. Caleb and Cass had a loving relationship and when the crossed paths a hug or kiss was always there. The kids were doing well in school and everyone was amazed at how much Ben was like Caleb and Rosey like Cass. The belief was that each would follow in their parent's footsteps for sure.

Mallory and Doug Saunders – As was always the case with Mallory, she was all in with gusto. Outside of her Business Manager responsibilities she had her hand in many other pieces of the company on top of the Miracle Ranch and Amy and Ty's scheduling. She has been learning the financial side of the company, as well as overseeing the Equine Center, Rehoming facility and the Day Care Center. Doug is great partner, low key and for the most part a quiet guy. But everyone could tell how perfect they were for each other and how much in love they really were. Trent and Shawna were doing great, and their little sister Lexi was a joy. As with every new baby they always brought with them a resurgence in excitement with the entire team. After everything Mallory had gone through prior to her arrival she was over the moon with excitement about being back home with people she always considered her family.

Soraya and Dillon Walsh – Soraya and Dillon along with their girls were completely entrenched back home in Hudson. Dillon was doing well at the hospital and had been promoted to the lead physical therapist. Soraya's practice was doing well, and half of her clients came from her retainer business with the Heartland Equestrian Experience. Her services were added to the benefit portfolio, and she had a regular flow of staff members visiting her. Camilla and Caroline were completely engaged in school and their friends, especially the Borden girls. Along with Troy, Camilla was active with the twins, Jeremy, Desi, Abbey and Bella as the group spent a lot of time together socially and at the ranch. The group was often seen at the Rehoming center and helping with the Llamas. Caroline, Gwen and Maddie were pretty inseparable and as a team were always there for those that needed a boost. Amy, Ty and the kids were there family now, since both of Soraya's parents were gone. Like the Saunders's and O'Dell's, they were always a part of family get togethers. Jack always called both of them his other granddaughters.

Haley and Rusty – As these two continued together as a couple, after an exciting proposal, they were married in Hudson. The media was all over the wedding as the Trudeau clan was there in force. Amy and Lou helped Maryanne with wedding prep and per their wishes the wedding was held at the Miracle Ranch. Two months before the wedding the security team arrived and began preparation with a more secure gate and perimeter. It was the event of the summer for Canada. Even the Calgary Morning Show Team were involved and had exclusive rights to the event. Haley was excelling as a horse healer and as well with the business side of the Equine Center so she was put on the payroll. She spent a lot of time helping Mallory and was overwhelmed with the energy she had. Rusty was now the lead ranch hand and had been excelling on the local rodeo circuit. They were happy and found a nice apartment only ten minutes from the Miracle Ranch.

Ellory Whitepath – After some time back home for six months, much to the delight of Amy, Ty and Lou, Ellory returned to continue running the Rehoming Center. The center was doing very well and providing some income for the company. There was a steady flow of horses that they were able to train and turn pretty quickly. The rehoming center had a few full time staff but most of the work was done by the endless list of volunteers that Haley had volunteered to manage. Ellory was committed to the operation and had dated a bit. Mallory, Haley and Georgie made it their mission to find her a man.

Mandy Ross (Colton) and Ellie Fisher (Nick) – Mandy and Ellie were excited about their jobs and the new bonus structure for the vets and techs. Ellie continued to oversee the clinic that was for all animals, less cattle and horses and Mandy, like Cass, floated as needed. She spent about half of her time with Scott and Ellie and the rest wherever she was needed. She volunteered to oversee the Llamas and along with several of the full time techs they kept an eye on them. Ellie's husband continued to supply as needed IT support and Mandy's husband Colton, who was a real estate agent, was seen volunteering at the clinic as well. Mandy and Ellie had completely taken over the clinical program with the University of Calgary and a steady stream of students came through the system gaining invaluable knowledge and experience. They loved their work and were completely committed to what they did and the company.

Tim and Casey Fleming – Tim and Casey had decided a few years ago to sell the land of the Big River Ranch and keep the house. Tim continued to fight his demons having to go through rehab a few times. Casey was amazing supporting him but the demon had broken him down a bit, which was th reason they sold the land. 300 acres were sold to the neighboring ranch and the other to the company. It was decided to move the Llama herd to that acreage since it was well fenced, pretty flat and full of plush fields of grass for them to eat. It also had several out buildings that worked out well so it was a perfect fit for the expanding heard. Tim would help as he could with the heard but outside of that was not that involved in the business or for that matter the family. He had become a recluse as the years of abuse had taken their toll. But Lou, Amy, Georgie, Katie and the Borden kids, along with other family member would make sure to come visit him from time to time. Casey stayed actively involved with the family, attending all of the events and babysitting where needed. She volunteered at the Day Care and was seen there often as well.

The Business – The Heartland Equestrian Experience and the family of businesses that were a part of it continued to grow and prosper. The Miracle Ranch which consisted of the Marion Fleming Equine Center, Lyndy Bartlett, Thomas Payne Equine Rehoming Center, the Day Care Center and Llama herd continued to be a major part of the whole organization, almost 70% of the Operating Report and even more of the profits. The Fairfield/Briar Ridge merger proved to be a great decision as it now occupied about 15% of the company's portfolio. The two vet clinics in Hudson also were doing well along with Maggie's and the Dude Rach comprise the remaining 15%. All in all, although separate, the parts acted as one and the seamless interaction only made them stronger. Although less involved, Lisa and Jack remained on the Board with Lisa a chairman. Max remained as legal counsel and Lou was the CFO. The remaining original Executive Board member remained intact as the key decision makers. But they decided to add Katie, Clay, Lyndy, Wyatt, Jenn, Ben, Mallory, Soraya, Casey, Mandy and Ellie as adjunct Board member roles since the younger ones were the future. They were invited to Board meetings and provided input but had no voting rights for now. Everything was settled and in place for the organization to continue to grow and prosper ensuring the future generations would benefit.

The Legacy - The Borden Family will continue to be my main focus as my sequel begins, specifically Amy and Ty and now Lyndy and Wyatt. Annie, Addie, Maddie and JT will also be featured prominently as this is the Borden Family Legacy. My hope is as it fits, to include all the other characters that are a part of this amazing and dynamic family. As though of you who know my writing style sometimes just takes me to unplanned outcomes and events and that I expect will continue. I have several storylines in mind but to be honest I currently have no idea where this will take me, so we shall see. As with the last story, "The Borden Family Legacy," my only hope is that you will let me know how I am doing, provide me your insights and ideas but most of all enjoy the ride. Bottom line, Amy and Ty's love story and what it has produced is the real drive behind my story. Next in line – "Lyndy and Wyatt - Passing On The Borden Legacy." Let the Legacy continue. Enjoy!
