Big Eugene's Furniture Store. Haines, Alaska. 2 weeks later.

It took persistence and some time, but eventually Jesse's co workers began to get past his walls. As a result, Jesse began to find that his fellow employees at Big Eugene's were actually decent dudes.

The assistant manger was a guy named Greg Jefferson. He'd been working at Big Eugene's for 40 years after moving from Anchorage and had been his right hand man for half of that time. He knew everything there was to know about the furniture business and he was Big Eugene's heir; since his daughter shows no interest in taking over the store. Greg was a nice enough guy, he was just really focused on his work. He never went out to the bars or the strip clubs unless it was his birthday or a holiday.

Then there was Rodrick Farrell. He'd been working as a carpenter for the past 10 years. Jesse learned that he was originally from Kalispell, Montana. He'd moved to Alaska because there were hardly any jobs in his home town and the few that did exist were taken. Rodrick said that the Alaskan lifestyle really agreed with him, but considering that he spent almost every night at the strip club, no one really knew that he meant by that.

As for Manny Hills, he was only a couple years younger than Jesse. Manny had only started 3 days before Jesse applied. Unlike the others, Manny was born and raised in Haines. He'd been a shit student in school and the day he turned 16, he dropped out of high school. According to Manny, his parents weren't thrilled and he ended up moving out. He couch surfed with friends for years, working various odd jobs around town that didn't require you to have a diploma. Eventually, Manny ran into Greg, who felt sorry for the kid and convinced Big Eugene to take him on.

Jesse had gotten to know these guys well, despite him trying to keep his distance and they were the closer things to friends he had; besides Mitch. The only problem was that they kept asking him out to drinking or strippers and it was getting harder for Jesse to come up with excuses without seeming like a douche. His luck eventually ran out 1 day as he was building a wooden bed frame with Manny and Rodrick.

"Ok boys, lunch break!" Greg said as he came into the factory section of the story. "Boss says you got an hour, so make it count."

"I was thinking of grabbing a bite at Icy Bear, you guys in!?" Rodrick asked.

"I'm down, what about you Eli?" Manny asked in return.

"I dunno, I might just work through lunch; yo." Jesse said as he tested to make sure the frame was tight.

"That's bullshit Driscoll, you gotta eat to keep your strength up." Rodrick shot back as Jesse looked at their faces and realized that they weren't going to take no for an answer.

"Fine, but if we're late getting back, I'm totally blaming you." Jesse relented a she followed his co-workers out the door.

The Icy Bear Cafe. Haines, Alaska. Later that day.

Jesse hates to admit it, but he was glad that he had accompanied Rodrick and Manny to The Icy Bear Cafe. The atmosphere was homey and the food was pretty damn good.

"Eli, didn't I tell you in the truck that this place was good?" Rodrick asked as he patted Jesse on the back.

"You did man and you didn't lie." Jesse said as he scarfed down the blueberry pancakes he had ordered. "Yeah bitch!" He exclaimed with pleasure. The trio kept eating and talking about work and perspective plans for the coming evening when Manny scrambled to get the guy's attention.

"Shit, Maya's coming!" Manny exclaimed as he and Rodrick turned their heads with excitement. Jesse also turned to look and he was greeted by the sight of a beautiful blonde with big tits. She had a head of perfect blonde hair and her blue eyes were full of life. She was plump, but not obese, and everyone at the table swore that her breasts were the sizes of a human head.

"Who is that?" Jesse asked.

"Her name's Maya Riley, she's been working here for the past year." Manny replied as Maya came up to the table.

"Did you all enjoy your meal?" She asked, receiving nods as she looked at Jesse. "Hello handsome, I know I haven't seen you before."

"This here's Eli Driscoll, Big Eugene just hired him about a fortnight ago." Rodrick explained.

"Well Eli, let me know if there's anything else I can get you." Maya said with a shy smile as she filled up his coffee before walking away.

"Eli, you gotta tap that." Manny pleaded.

"I barely know her." Jesse remarked with a head shake as he sipped his coffee.

"I barely know her, doesn't mean I wouldn't motorboat the shit out of her if she'd let me." Rodrick teased as he initiated a motorboat engine.

"Come on dude, she wants you. Her eyes were screaming, Under my skirts, now." Manny insisted.

"Fine, I'll talk to her." Jesse said as the check was split 3 ways. After the others guys had gone out to the truck, Jesse slowly went up to Maya.

"Hi." Jesse said as Maya looked surprised.

"Oh, hi Eli...anything else I can get for you, for the road?" She asked bashfully.

"Um...I was wondering what time you get off work." He asked as a blush appeared on her face.

"6:30...why?" She asked with a giggle.

"Thought maybe we could grab coffee or something." Jesse offered as Maya's cheeks turned pink.

"Sure, come back around 6:30." Maya said with a huge grin as Jesse walked out of the cafe, wondering if he had just done something smart or stupid.
