Thanks to all readviewers! Kestrel: if I have learned anything from my main discord server it is that boys and young men are a special brand of chaotic and sometimes it results in me yelling at them to not be dumb seriously Adam you broke your freaking tendon stop taking your splint off.
Prompt: Someone's first dancing lesson
"Daddy, daddy!"
"Oof," said King Frank, as his three-year-old daughter plowed into his knees and wrapped herself around them.
"Daddy, Franz is dancing!"
"Francis is dancing, Eleanor."
Eleanor frowned. "Is. Not is is."
"She's decided his name is now Franz," said Helen, coming up to them with Cole balanced on her hip. "I suppose it makes as good a nickname as any, since we've the one Frank already. Yes, Nora, Franz is dancing. The fauns started teaching him last year."
"I want to dance!"
"One day you will, when you're bigger. Today you are still too small. You would get hurt."
Nora screwed up her face to pout. The pout turned into a surprised shout of glee as Frank swooped down and tossed her into the air.
"Too small for the fauns, perhaps, but never for Papa." He tucked her close to him. "Give me your hand, fair maiden, and we shall dance together."
She giggled and put out her little hand. Frank solemnly engulfed it in his large one, and promptly began to polka around the fire. Nora's laughter came in hiccups as her father's feet tapped the ground. Later the music slowed and he took her round in a stately waltz instead.
If the smooth glide and sway made her lay her head on his shoulder and yawn, that was only to be expected. She was still a very small girl, and it was late. Frank could never begrudge her that. Indeed, as he slowly danced her off toward their tent, he kissed the little forehead and thanked Aslan for all the blessings of this world.
