First of all, I would like to say that I am Brazilian, but since most of the stories on this site are in English, I will try to do my best to write in that language as well. If you notice any grammatical errors, please forgive me, I'm doing the best I can. Hope you like it.
The beginning of the next day was strange, to say the least.
Kim Da-Eun didn't even complain about Kwon, Tory and the others arrived late from the bar. It seemed like she and Sensei Kreese were worried about something else. Actually, it didn't seem like it. They really were. Tory found out why when she entered the main mat of Sekai Takai and saw who was next to the Iron Dragons team.
Terry Silver.
"What the hell is he doing here?" - Tory asked almost immediately, turning to look at her Sensei. - "Shouldn't he be arrested?" - She raised her eyebrows, feeling confused.
"When you have a lot of money, there's no justice." - That's what Sensei Kreese replied, letting out a sigh.
"And we're not going to do anything?" - The girl questioned, unable to believe that after everything this idiot still had the courage to show up in a suit and tie at the world championship.
"I already did it." - Sensei Kreese assured, looking. - ''I punched him in the face.'' - He revealed and Tory smirked at that.
Of course her Sensei would do that.
Still, it wasn't like Silver's presence didn't bother her. He bribed the judge so she could win the All Valley. The bastard couldn't change the result of another tournament again. Or could she?
''I just don't want what happened at the All Valley to happen again.'' - Tory vented and Sensei Kreese touched her shoulder.
''Don't worry about it, Nichols.'' - He asked and Tory looked at him. - ''Terry was always just my problem.'' - Sensei Kreese assured, looking at him. - ''I'll take care of him.'' - He stated and the teenager nodded.
Tory trusted Sensei Kreese about this. If he said he would take care of it, then he really would take care of it.
Soon, almost all the teams were here, except for Miyagi Do. Where were they? Not that she was worried. Okay, maybe she was a little worried. Sure, they were on opposite sides of the time right now, but that didn't mean her to wish them ill. She still cared about some of the Miyagi Do members like Robby, Devon, and even Sam. Damn, she couldn't keep thinking about that now.
Luckily, Miyagi Do ended up showing up just a few minutes later, but without Sensei Larusso. Strange. Well... Whatever. That really wasn't her problem. She already had a lot to deal with.
"Are you guys ready for the second day of competitions?" - Gunther, the main organizer of Sekai Takai asked and the excited voices of the audience in the background were heard. - "Today we're going to have three types of matches." - He began, looking at the fighters. - ''The first one will be team versus team inside a hexagon.'' - Gunther continued and the fighters listened attentively. - ''All team members must fight.'' - He warned and the Miyagi Do members exchanged glances with each other. - ''The team that gets the most points within the time limit wins.'' - Gunther completed and Tory smiled.
Fighting for a time limit without having to end the fight in just three points? Interesting.
After that, the panel on the side lit up showing the names of the 16 teams that were to compete in Sekai Takai and the automatic draw began in the same way as it had happened on the first day. When the draw ended, the fights were defined, but Tory Nichols only bothered to pay attention to three of these fights:
Iron Dragons x Los Escorpiones Voladores
Not that the girl was underestimating the Mexican dojo, but come on? They didn't stand a chance. Those motherfucking Iron Dragons were the biggest threat in this tournament.
Cobra Kai x Tiger Strike
Tory didn't know what to think about this opponent. Her team was going to face the Russian dojo. They didn't seem that threatening, but it was Russia. They always had an ace up their sleeve. It was good to be smart and there was no way to underestimate them.
Miyagi Do x Furia de Pantera
Honestly, debuting against the Spanish dojo was not good for Miyagi Do. The Furia de Pantera team was fighting at home and Tory could bet that after the Iron Dragons, they were probably one of the biggest threats in the tournament. The Spanish captains, Diego and Maria, seemed like formidable opponents.
"Before the first match starts, I would like to inform you that we have some news for this year's tournament!" - Gunther's voice interrupted the girl's thoughts and the fighters fell silent to hear what the main organizer of Sekai Takai had to say. - "Thanks to our new sponsor, this year's tournament will be broadcast on TV in its entirety, not just the finals with the captains!'' - He revealed, making everyone gasp.
Wow. Basically, this means that this year's Sekai Takai will have a lot more attention. If you do well in the rounds leading up to the finals, maybe the sponsors will look at you much sooner. That's good, damn it.
"Do you know what that means, Nichols?" - Sensei Kreese smiled at her and Tory's eyes shone like fire.
"The faster I stand out in this tournament, the faster a sponsor will look at me." - She replied excitedly.
"And faster..." - John Kreese insisted, wanting her to finish the sentence.
"I'll have money to fight for custody of my little brother." - She said more to herself than to her Sensei.
Yes, she had told him about Brandon and Sensei Kreese supported her, as always. And not only that. He promised that he would make Tory the world champion.
"The whole world will know the Queen Cobra and the true legacy of Cobra Kai." - That's what Sensei Kreese told her the day he made the promise.
But now, they still had a long way to go.
With the TV cameras rolling, all the competitors got even more excited. The first matches were exciting and it was clear that everyone wanted to give their best. The Iron Dragons simply humiliated the Mexican dojo. Only Axel Kovacevic and Zara Malik scored more than 40 points during the time limit. This time limit lasted exactly thirty minutes according to the timer that indicated on the screen.
If Tory already hated Zara before, now she hated her even more. The bitch thought she was on a damn reality show. She was blowing kisses to the cameras as if she were a celebrity. Show-off bitch.
And with this beating applied to Los Escorpianos Voladores, Iron Dragons went straight to the Top 1 of the table.
Then it was Cobra Kai's turn to fight. The Russian dojo was strong. Almost as strong as Cobra Kai, but Tory, Kwon and Yoon managed to score enough points and with that, Cobra Kai ended up beating Tiger Strike by a difference of five points. They ended up going to second place with 32 points in total, still far behind Iron Dragons. The sons of bitches were way ahead.
"When we face those idiots again, we're going to kill them." - Kwon promised, touching her hand.
Tory said nothing in response, choosing to believe his words. She had to believe.
When it was Miyagi Do's turn to fight, Tory really stopped to pay attention. Even though she was in Cobra Kai now, she didn't want Miyagi Do to be completely humiliated. A part of her was even rooting for them. Despite that, she did everything she could to keep her expression blank. She knew Kim Da-Eun was looking at her now. She couldn't even think about giving herself the luxury of looking at Robby. Not even a glance. Not now.
But all Robby saw was Tory touching Kwon's hand and not even looking at him. They had kissed yesterday, damn it. Didn't he deserve even a glance? This hurt Robby's heart more than he could imagine, causing him to enter the fight a little shaken. It didn't help that the captains were the first to enter. The captain of Spain, Diego, ended up kicking Robby's ass in less than a minute. Tory's heart sank when she saw her ex-boyfriend fighting like that. He wasn't focused. It seemed like his mind was somewhere else and deep down she knew that part of it was her fault. Unfortunately, she couldn't do anything now. It was too dangerous to even look at him with Kim Da-Eun standing right next to her.
The next to fight were Sam and the captain of Spain, Maria, who was also very good. She was probably one of the best fighters in this Sekai Takai. If Tory could rank the four best fighters in this tournament, she would say: Zara, Maria, Sam, and herself. That's why she wasn't surprised when Maria kicked Sam in the stomach and ended up scoring on her as well.
Miyagi Do was losing the fight and by the looks of things, they were going to lose by even more points.
Johnny Lawrence was shouting words of encouragement to them, but the truth is that the fact that Daniel Larusso wasn't there and Tory had returned to Cobra Kai shook their team indescribably. It seemed like none of the Miyagi Do fighters were in their right minds. So when Devon Lee stepped onto the mat, the Cobra Kai captain really worried. Devon was just a kid and Tory didn't want her to get hurt. She was his pupil and Tory cared about her.
Some might say it was luck, others might not. It depends on how you look at it. The thing is, the random fighter from Furia de Pantera took less than five seconds to land a blow on Devon and score on her. Tory considers that lucky. Being defeated by an opponent you are clearly not a match for is better than taking a beating and getting seriously hurt. But she knew Devon wouldn't think so. The younger girl was too stubborn and too proud to admit it.
"Looks like we won't have to worry too much about Miyagi Do." - Sensei Kreese scoffed with an ironic smile.
"How pathetic!" - Kim Da-Eun snorted and crossed her arms under her chest, even looking a little disappointed with the girl's performance.
She actually thought Devon Lee had potential.
"Look at that!" - Kwon pointed his finger, showing that Devon was running off the mat. - "I think she went to find a corner so she could cry in peace." - He commented, laughing and almost the entire Cobra Kai team joined in his laughter.
The only one who didn't laugh was Tory.
Instead, she chose to go after the girl. She knew that Kim Da-Eun and the others wouldn't even notice, especially since Robby was still on the mat. Tory just wanted to check if Devon was okay. It wouldn't take that long.
"Hey, Devon." - Tory called her, catching up with her at the entrance to the bathroom.
"What do you want?" - Devon turned around and Tory noticed that she had some tears in her eyes. - "Did you come to laugh at me too?" - She asked and the Cobra Kai captain immediately shook her head.
"Of course not, Dev." - Tory assured, looking at her - "I know I'm in Cobra Kai now, but I still consider you a friend." - She added, hoping Devon would believe her words.
It was hard for the girl to show what she felt and Devon had gotten close enough to Tory to know that.
"I consider you my friend too, Tory." - Devon admitted, letting out a sigh. - ''If you were in my place, maybe everything would be easier.'' - She looked away and Tory put both hands on her shoulder.
''Don't say things like that.'' - She stated with a firm look on her face. - ''What kind of defeated spirit is that?'' - Tory continued, shaking the girl's shoulders lightly. - ''That's not the Devon Lee I know!'' - She finished, waiting for Devon's excitement to return. - ''Dev, what's wrong?'' - Tory asked, when she noticed the guilty expression on her pupil's face.
''I shouldn't be here.'' - Devon relesead and Tory raised her eyebrows at her.
''What are you saying?'' - Tory questioned, not understanding. - ''I saw when you got the flag back, of course you...'' - She was going to say that Devon deserves to be here, but the girl interrupted her before the captain of Cobra Kai finished speaking.
''I cheated.'' - Devon confessed, lowering her head.
Silence.
Tory didn't know what to say.
Everyone knew about her problem with cheating. Despite that, she wasn't going to judge Devon because of it. She was just a kid and she was still learning.
''How did this happen?'' - It was the first thing Tory could say.
''I put laxatives in Kenny's bottle.'' - Devon revealed and the Cobra Kai captain opened her mouth in surprise.
Laxatives? Seriously? Where did the girl get these things from? This definitely seemed like just a child's prank and Tory even wanted to laugh at it, but she knew she couldn't. She wasn't going to give the false impression that cheating was okay. So, she forced her face to be serious and looked Devon straight in the eyes.
''If that's the case, I think you should tell the truth and apologize.'' - Tory advised and Devon nodded.
''I know.'' - She sighed and Tory looked at her. - ''But I'm afraid that Sensei Lawrence will be disappointed in me or that Kenny will hate me.'' - Devon added, biting her lower lip.
Tory Nichols had never been much of a hugger, but she knew perfectly well that was all Devon Lee needed right now. So she just pulled the girl into her arms and let her rest her head on her shoulder.
''You know...'' - Tory began, doing her best to comfort the younger girl. - ''Sometimes we have to do what's right, because enjoying something we don't deserve is something that consumes you day after day.'' - She admitted, remembering the feeling of failure she felt every time people called her a champion right after finding out that Silver had bought the referee.
''Are you talking about the All Valley trophy?'' - Devon asked, pulling away to look at her friend's face. - ''Tory, you didn't know about the cheating.'' - She reminded, looking at her. - ''That wasn't your fault and for me you were deceived as much as Sam.'' - Devon stated and the Cobra Kai captain almost smiled at her pupil's words.
''Thank you for saying that, Dev.'' - She thanked her, nudging the girl's shoulder. - ''But the point is that telling the truth is the right thing to do, even if we have to face the consequences later.'' - Tory insisted and Devon shook her head, before smiling.
''Okay, you're right.'' - Devon agreed, raising her hands up in surrender and Tory felt satisfied knowing that the younger girl was going to do the right thing. - ''Tory...'' - She continued and by the look on her face, the older girl already imagined what was coming. - ''About your mom, I...'' - Devon was going to say she was sorry, but the Cobra Kai captain interrupted her.
''I don't want to talk about it.'' - Tory cut her off and Devon knew the older girl well enough to know she shouldn't insist on it.
''But then...'' - Devon paused, trying to change the subject. - ''How was it in Korea?'' - She asked and Tory smiled, grateful for the girl's attempt.
Maybe it wouldn't be a bad idea to catch up.
Meanwhile, the match between Miyagi Do and Furia de Pantera was still going on. The Spanish dojo was winning by a large margin of points. If they scored one more point, they would overtake Cobra Kai in the standings and take second place, and that's what ended up happening. Diego, the Spanish captain, landed a blow on Hawk and then the timer went to zero. Furia de Pantera had scored 33 points.
Kwon noticed Robby moving away from his Miyagi Do teammates and went after him. The Korean knew that he was Tory's ex-boyfriend. It would be good to get inside his head. Both to get him away from the girl he was interested in and to destabilize a possible opponent in the tournament. Besides, Miyagi Do was the enemy. That was what Sensei Kreese said before Sekai Takai started.
"Good fight, loser." - He said ironically, talking behind Robby's back.
''I don't care about your opinion, idiot.'' - Robby replied, turning to face him.
''Idiot?'' - Kwon looked at him, laughing. - ''Tory didn't think I was an idiot yesterday.'' - He teased and the green-eyed boy swallowed hard.
What was this idiot saying? Had Tory lied to him about Kwon? She had said that they had nothing and that he was just a teammate. Was that a lie?
''You're lying.'' - That was all he could say, not really wanting to believe it.
''I'm not.'' - Kwon assured, looking at Robby. - ''Why do you think Tory didn't even look at you today?'' - He blurted out, making the Miyagi Do captain clench his jaw in anger. - ''Just think about it and you'll see that I'm not lying.'' - Kwon finished, before leaving Robby alone with his own thoughts.
The boy didn't want to believe this idiot Korean, but unfortunately the things he had said actually made some sense. Not to mention that Tory was in Cobra Kai now and had probably spent some time in Korea before coming here. It wasn't unreasonable that she had spent some time with Kwon during that time. Maybe he really wasn't lying after all.
A few more matches took place, until finally all 16 teams had fought.
"Now we're going to the second type of match of the day." - Gunther announced with the microphone to the crowd. - "This match is called King of the Mountain, it will take place on top of the stage and the main objective is to not fall from up there." - He began, while watching everyone position themselves in rows to be right in front of the stage. - "You can go up one or two fighters from your team at a time." - Gunther warned, looking at the competitors. - ''If everyone on your team falls from up there, that means your team has lost the match.'' - He explained and some fighters exchanged glances with each other. - ''The team left standing will be the King of the Mountain and therefore the winner of the match!'' - He concluded and Tory smiled as she saw Devon Lee pulling Johnny Lawrence away from the crowd.
Your pupil was really going to do the right thing.
As was customary, the panel on the side lit up showing the names of the 16 teams that were going to compete in the Sekai Takai and the automatic draw started again. The clashes between the Iron Dragons, Miyagi Do and Cobra Kai were as follows:
Iron Dragons x West End Warriors
Once again, the Iron Dragons were going to face the dojo from England. Wasn't the beating they took the day before enough? The result of this match was more than obvious. Zara Malik and Axel Kovacevic were going to finish them off again.
Miyagi Do x Dublin Thunder
This time, Miyagi Do was going to face the Irish team. Their kimono was orange, which was quite funny. But if they were in a world karate championship, then they must know how to fight.
Cobra Kai x Hirobukan
Cobra Kai, on the other hand, faced the Japanese dojo. The Japanese have always had a reputation for being good fighters, so this would certainly be an interesting match, to say the least.
The Iron Dragons fought first and as expected, only Zara and Axel ended up alone with the six fighters from the West End Warriors. Two at a time. At the end of the match, Axel got off the stage without looking at anyone and Zara blew kisses to the camera again.
God, the Iron Dragons captain was so annoying that Tory just wanted to punch her.
Surprisingly, the audience around the fight didn't seem to share Tory's thoughts, as some people even made gestures as if they were catching the kisses that Zara Malik was blowing into the air.
Ridiculous as hell.
Tory was still rolling her eyes when she heard Gunther announce the next match. It was Miyagi Do's turn to fight. Realizing that Kim Da-Eun was too busy talking to Sensei Kreese, she risked looking at Robby, but this time the boy she liked didn't even look at her. Maybe it was better that way. Then she shrugged and just focused her gaze back on the stage.
Hawk and Demetri were the first to go up. Apparently, the binary brothers weren't in sync, because in order to push the fighter from the Irish dojo out, Demetri ended up throwing Hawk out as well. Tory saw Hawk complain to Demetri from the outside and the other Dublin Thunder fighter took advantage of this gap to land a kick on Demetri, and throw him out as well.
The next Miyagi Do fighters to enter were Samantha and Robby. Her ex-boyfriend didn't seem focused at all, but with Sam's help, he managed to throw out the fighter who was left from the fight with Hawk and Demetri. Now there were four fighters left for each dojo. Daniel's absence also seemed to be affecting Sam, because in a moment of distraction, the Dublin Thunder captain managed to land a punch in her chest and throw Samantha off the mat. Robby would now have to fight the female captain and the male captain of the Irish team. He tried to move quickly so that neither of them could corner him, and at one point, Robby managed to confuse the Dublin Thunder captains enough to throw Ireland's women's captain out. Despite this, he still wasn't focused at all. Tory knew him well enough to know how distracted he was. This became clear when the Dublin Thunder captain kicked him in the ribs and threw him out as well.
With that, only Devon and Miguel from Miyagi Do were left, while the Irish team still had the captain and two more fighters to go up. Tory's surprise, Miguel went up alone. Apparently, Devon had given up on fighting in the tournament. In the Cobra Kai captain's opinion, it was better this way and she really didn't want Devon to get hurt. The girl was only 15 years old, she still had a lot of progress to make, and one day she would fight at Sekai Takai to win. Tory was sure of that.
Miguel, on the other hand, started the fight very well and in a few minutes managed to throw the captain of Dublin Thunder out. Everyone around could recognize that Miguel Diaz was putting on an excellent fight, but unfortunately he still had to take down two more opponents for Miyagi Do to win. He even managed to take down one, but when he did so, the other fighter from Ireland ended up attacking him from behind and throwing him out as well. The fight was over. Miyagi Do lost. Again.
"These losers just can't win one." - Kwon mocked and Sensei Kreese laughed.
Today really wasn't Miyagi Do's day.
Another match started and while the fighters from Redentores and Dojo Berlin were facing each other on stage, Tory saw Zara approaching Robby. What the fuck was that bitch up to?
Of course, Tory hadn't seen it yet, but the photo that the Iron Dragons captain posted with Robby yesterday had gotten a lot of likes and Zara realized that she could use the Miyagi Do captain not only to destabilize her main rival in the tournament, but also to get engagement on her Instagram profile. Her followers liked seeing her and Robby together. How could they not? The boy was handsome and hot. Only a blind person wouldn't realize that. So it wasn't a struggle for Zara Malik to combine business with pleasure.
"I'm sorry I left early yesterday." - Zara bit her lip, resting her hand on Robby's bicep. - "Sensei Wolf kept sending me messages asking me to come back, so I kind of had no choice." - She explained and Robby nodded.
"It's okay, Zara." - Robby replied, shrugging.
"I was thinking..." - She paused, smiling sideways. - ''What if we get to know the city a little better today?'' - Zara suggested and Robby raised his eyebrows at her, surprised by her invitation.
Deep down, Robby knew he shouldn't accept, but Kwon's words still haunted his mind. And not only that. He was also too confused and jealous to be able to think straight. Robby felt like crying just thinking about Tory being with Kwon yesterday. He failed Tory and now he was failing as a captain too. Miyagi Do needed him and he had to pull himself together. So, maybe it would be a good idea to try to get the girl he loved out of his mind. At least for a moment.
"I think it's a good idea." - Robby finally answered, giving a forced smile.
From afar, a Tory Nichols watched the scene. No way he was smiling at her too. The Cobra Kai captain didn't want to get angry, but her blood boiled at the same time. Tory was never known for being very patient and she couldn't deny that she was also jealous as hell. Zara Malik was trying to irritate her and she was really succeeding.
Luckily, the Cobra Kai and Hirobukan teams were called to the stage before Tory could do anything impulsive that could get her in trouble. The girl joined her dojo mates and while listening to Sensei Kreese and Sensei Kim's instructions, she kept her fists clenched. Tory just wanted to punch someone. Fuck that.
Sensei Kreese and Sensei Kim's strategy was to let the captains enter only at the end. Tory wasn't very happy about it, but in the end it turned out to be a very smart move. The other Cobra Kai fighters were up to the task and Yoon was actually a very good fighter. It was no wonder he was one of the best fighters in that dojo. When Yoon fell, there were only two girls left from Hirobukan. One was the female captain and the other was just a random fighter from the Japanese team. Kwon was getting ready to go in with her, but Tory put her hand on his chest and said:
''I'm going up alone.'' - She warned and Kwon looked at your Sensei, awaiting their order.
''Nichols...'' - Kim Da-Eun looked at her, calling the girl's name in a warning tone.
''Leave the girl.'' - Sensei Kreese stepped in, supporting his favorite student. - ''I trust her.'' - He stated and Tory nodded.
She went up on stage and didn't even look back. Tory knew it was a two against one here, but she was so angry to see Robby with Zara that she didn't care.
The Hirobukan fighters didn't expect such arrogance from the Cobra Kai captain and were even more surprised when Tory attacked them with everything. In every King of the Mountain match, whenever there was a two-on-one situation, the person who was alone would dodge and move away, but Tory did differently from everyone else and just went after the two of them. The girl was so irritated by everything that she managed to fight both of them at the same time, without any problem. Tory's strong blows soon hit the random fighter from the Japanese team, making her fall off the mat.
Now it was just her and the captain of Japan left. The look on Tory's face showed that she was not in the mood for games and it took her less than ten seconds to grab the Hirobukan captain's gi. She wasted no time and started punching the Japanese woman in the face with her free hand. Tory just needed to throw her opponent out, but she kept punching the Japanese woman's face until she got tired.
The truth is that at that moment, Tory didn't even know where she was anymore. All she could imagine was that she was punching Zara's face and not just any fighter's. Her jealousy and anger fueled her in a way that made her whole body burn. When she finally stopped, the Japanese woman's face was completely bloody and her opponent was barely able to stand.
"No mercy." - Tory still had time to say, before landing a kick right in her face to end the fight.
For the audience watching the match from the outside, the image of the Hirobukan captain falling was a bit scary, especially because one of the Japanese girl's teeth flew out of her mouth at the same time she cracked her back hard on one of the mats that were around for protection.
Totally unconscious.
Gunther ran to check on the Japanese captain and when he saw that her pulse was normal, he let out a sigh of relief and announced:
"She's just unconscious!" - The main organizer of Sekai Takai informed, looking at the crowd. - "The king of the mountain is the Cobra Kai." - He pointed to the Korean team and John Kreese looked at Kim Da-Eun with a cynical smile on his face. - "Call the ambulance!" - Gunther quickly added and Tory was still getting off the stage when she saw the paramedics passing by her.
That's when she realized what she had done. Tory Nichols had almost killed the Hirobukan captain. She was so angry that she didn't think about what she was doing. It seemed like she was in some kind of trance and that all she cared about was punching someone. But when she saw the state the Japanese girl was in, she knew that what she had done was not right. She didn't have to do that. But at that moment, she just couldn't stop.
"What was that?" - Kwon looked at her, laughing. - "Now all the girls in the tournament will be afraid to face you." - He joked, but Tory didn't find it funny at all.
She wasn't proud of what she had done.
"I guess you were right, Sensei Kreese." - Kim Da-Eun admitted, glancing at John Kreese out of the corner of her eye. - "Good job, Nichols." - She praised, turning to look at the girl.
The fact that she was being praised by the woman who literally made her break her hand almost made Tory vomit.
''Come on, let's clean this up.'' - Sensei Kreese pulled her away and only then did the Cobra Kai captain notice that her right hand was covered in blood.
The blood of the captain of Japan.
On the other side, Robby was shocked. The last time he saw Tory fight so violently was in the school fight. Of course, in the fight against Sam for the female captaincy of Miyagi Do, his ex-girlfriend had also adopted a very aggressive stance, but today was different. It seemed like she didn't even know where she was. Robby knew the feeling. He felt the same way when he kicked Miguel from the second floor.
And as someone who always struggled with anger, Robby not only knew, but understood what it was like.
Because of that, he would never blame Tory or look at her differently for what she had just done. His ex-girlfriend was going through a lot. Her mother died. That definitely unsettles anyone, especially someone like Tory who was so young and already had to deal with so much. He just wished he had been there for her sooner. If he had gone after her right away, maybe things would be different. Maybe she wouldn't be in Cobra Kai and maybe she wouldn't be with Kwon. Damn. Just thinking about the two of them together made his heart break in a thousand ways. He hated this. Fuck it. Robby needed to focus on Sekai Takai now. He was the captain and his team needed him.
A few more King of the Mountain matches took place and at the end of all of them, Miyagi Do was in eleventh place.
"What the hell is this?" - Johnny Lawrence complained and Miguel tried to explain to his Sensei why they were in this position.
Then, the voice of the main organizer of Sekai Takai was heard. This time to announce what would be the third and last type of match of the day:
"The day is being intense today, guys." - Gunther commented and the crowd laughed along with him. - "To end today, our last type of match will be the skills competition." - He announced and the Miyagi Do fighters smiled excitedly.
''Finally something we're good at!'' - Demetri raised his hands, thanking the heavens for it.
''I didn't reveal this before so that everyone could do their best and so that no team would feel pressured, but...'' - Gunther looked at the crowd and paused for a moment. - ''Whoever doesn't finish today in the Top 8 will already be eliminated from the competition and therefore will be left out of the qualifiers!'' - He blurted out at once and the smiles of the entire Miyagi Do team disappeared.
They were in eleventh place. Miyagi Do needed to climb three positions and still hope that the teams that were ahead of them would do badly. Shit. They were screwed!
''You must choose only three fighters to perform.'' - Gunther explained, looking at the competitors. - ''Let the last match of the day begin!'' - He shouted and immediately the panel on the side lit up to draw the order of the teams' performance.
When the draw was over, it was decided that Miyagi Do would be the last team to perform. They couldn't tell if that was a good thing or a bad thing.
John Kreese and Kim Da-Eun decided to choose Kwon Jae-Sung, Yoon Do-Jin and Min-Seok to perform for Cobra Kai. Sensei Kreese decided to leave Tory out of the skills match, as he knew she was exhausted from the last fight. Not only physically, but also mentally. And despite what everyone said, he really cared about her, even if it was in the wrong way.
As expected, Cobra Kai's performance was very satisfactory. Kwon knew how to put on a show and the kicks he did were something almost no other fighter could do. Yoon and Min-Seok also lived up to expectations and in the end the Korean team finished the day with 80 points. They had returned to second place and would only leave the Top 8 if a miracle happened. It was practically impossible.
Iron Dragons' performance was also a show in itself. Zara Malik was able to handle a huge baton in an absolutely incredible way. The girl was really good. Axel Kovacevic, on the other hand, put on a show of strength that left all the referees impressed. The Chinese team finished the day with 111 points and at the top of the table. They were already guaranteed a spot in the next round. Iron Dragons was the dojo to beat.
Furia de Pantera also put on a great performance and ended up overtaking Cobra Kai, taking second place with 93 points.
Other teams showed up and soon it was the turn of the last dojo: Miyagi Do.
Johnny had decided to put Hawk, Demetri and Miguel, but Robby insisted on participating in the skills match. Miguel saw how much Robby needed it and ended up deciding to give his place to his stepbrother, after all he knew how good Hawk and Demetri were at it. Sam was also good, but like Robby, she also seemed a little distracted. The girl was quite worried about her father who unfortunately hadn't shown up yet. Later, Johnny would look for that idiot Larusso. Later. Now the focus was on doing well in this match and staying in the competition.
Unsurprisingly, Hawk and Demetri managed to crush it. Skills were really their thing. The last one from Miyagi Do to enter would be Robby. He looked at Tory to see if his ex-girlfriend was feeling better and saw Kwon talking to her. Again. This idiot couldn't leave her side for even a second? It didn't matter. He couldn't think about that right now. Robby needed to put on a good show for Miyagi Do to advance. That was all that mattered right now.
The Miyagi Do captain ended up doing almost the same demonstration he had done at the All Valley tournament. Obviously with the addition of new acrobatics he had learned over the last year. His performance was almost perfect, except for the fact that he couldn't stop completely on his feet when doing a somersault nail at the end.
He hoped it would be enough. It had to be.
"And so ends the second day of Sekai Takai competitions." - Gunther announced, as soon as the skills match was over. - ''You will have three days of rest, before returning for the third and final day of competitions.'' - He continued and the competitors looked at him, anxiously awaiting the result. - ''Now, here are the Top 8!'' - Gunther pointed to the panel that lit up and at the same time the names of the eight classified dojos appeared.
1. Iron Dragons - 111 pontos
2. Furia de Pantera - 93 pontos
3. Cobra Kai - 80 pontos
4. Tiger Strike - 71 pontos
5. Tempete de Viperes - 69 pontos
6. Hirobukan - 68 pontos
7. Redentores - 65 pontos
8. Miyagi Do - 62 pontos
Miyagi Do had managed to get into the Top 8 and qualify for the playoffs at the last second.
Robby Keene would still be here.
I didn't even want this chapter to be this long, but it kind of ended up being that way lol
There will probably be a lot of side stories happening in the tournament, but my focus of this story is just on Robby and Tory's feelings. The other things will just be mentioned.
I love the friendship between Tory and Devon. I hope the show is not forgetten the relationship between my girls in Part 2.
I also wanted to apologize for my lack of skill in writing about the fights. I admit that this really isn't my strong point, but I really tried my best.
I was kind of in doubt whether to include Tory's explosion against the girl from Japan or not, but in the end I decided to include it. I think it makes sense, considering the moment Tory is in.
If you can, tell me what you think. I love hearing your opinions! xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxX
