Chapter 5
December 24 night Royal Hospital Berun.
Elya was tending over Tanya in the hospital; she was expecting early, maybe because of the shock of the accident.
"Where is Erich? What is happening? why are they mobilizing?"
you do not worry about what is going around; focus in here, with me,
it hurts; where are we?
Back in Berun, do not mind hypothetical if you and your husband make plans for all possible cases; they only need to pick one of many file folders and act accordingly. Or do you not trust yourself?
The doctors believed that the young wife was out of such a car crash unscathed by a miracle, but the stress of the situation unfolding and the anxiousness for the absent husband was making the delivery a challenge.
The twins were coming a little early, nothing grave, just for a few days off, but if the worst came, they would be in the best hospital in Europe.
Now, their focus was going to tend to the delivery of a noble's wife, now a widow, and then make space for whatever was coming from their neighboring country; time would tell if another war broke up. Everyone was ready, and the entire country was back and running. Their only hope was that this time, all conflict would end soon.
The conflict was known as the first communist potash-russi War. It ended too soon and was named (the War of the Seven Days) in a magnificent display of cunning; the Germania combined arms doctrine got into action defending their Polash allies, acquiring air superiority so hard they obliterated their foe by elite forces in such quantities the Russies. However, think they were against an army composed of only salamanders, to the point that by the end of the conflict, it was rare for any mage or pilot not to have achieved the category of ACE or at least have an uncanny number of scores, the west allies recognized the importance of having Germania as an ally against the new threat looming on the horizon, the Russi menace and communist.
The War had ended by the time every Ildoa warship mobilized, just before the allies arrived at the zone to disembark. Some contingents were not even boarding ships or at least on the countries menaced when the West's proclamations, plus their defeats, alienated the Russis to such a degree that they were obliged to back off.
The nail of the coffin was a case so egregious that the League of Nations put a blockage to all imports and exports to the communist countries; that particular case was so outrageous that no one noticed the identity of the survivor woman.
It was a case of the Rerugen couple, and the photos of the scene, even if ignored when the audio record unedited was brought before the world nations, displayed the conversation.
-I like the names you chose for the twins; they remind me of that alchemist I admired reading about when I was tiny.
-sounds of a crash-
/heck, I was supposed to take General Rommel / in Russ
"Who you are you after is me, General Erich von Rerugen, nor my wife or twins."
/Then we have a deal: give her your last goodbye/
If I ever see you in my next life… I will make sure to give you the life you deserve… I don't mind if it is in a thousand years, if we are on another planet, or if a strange god takes after our church; you are the only one I put my faith in.
/Oktyabrskaya Revolutsiya/
shoot -BAM- end of the transmission,
-they were still outside Germania territory. Km 111
- the mage orb on the misses has burned out.
-General Rommel, do we mobilize?
-all hands
-all hands, sir?
-All hands! I don't care if the Polash does not plead for our help yet or if we do not leave any soldier in our country; we are now completely at war; I want every man on the ground, air, or sea; I don't care if they are on machine or horse, I want every damn gun there.
The commotion brought upon for not only undercover unsanctioned assault on foreign soil and the blatant disregard for conventions made communist Russi not only the pariah of the international community, but in the following years, over time less and fewer countries united under their ideology, and when bit by bit some of them come from the eventual change, this one was one of the arguments against it.
