Responses to questions or statements:

-SRPA Sentinel: Yeah, I think it would be cool. And if they do do it, you heard it first here, gentlemen.

-snipervtk4: Thanks for very much for the ideas. I'll be sure to think further on them.

-Reader117: As it should be. Glory to the God-Emperor of Mankind!

-Guest0508: Thank you very much. I really hope to see a group of still speaking and intelligent humans in Kingdom. Just imagine the faces on the monkeys at seeing what they saw as primitive animals being WAY more advanced than them and actively fighting back.

- Thank you for your thoughts on my Titanfall x Avatar crossover idea. Even when I was younger, I was rooting for the humans since they always looked cooler and the fact that they were my own species. The RDA would definitely won if it wasn't for Jake Sully- the alien simp. Funny how the smurfs needed a human to lead them before they could actually start effectively start fighting back. Seems to be rather a rather common trope in these kinds of movies.

-RontheGuest: Thank you! Six and Dot will definitely help organize the human survivors, though I'm not going to spoil what I have planned.

-I'll definitely consider it. Humanity first!

-dilangp1999: Yeah, always makes me sad seeing our species being portrayed like that. I just can't help it. Whenever I watch media that portrays humans as bad like in District 9 (still enjoyed that movie. And admittedly, that film did a better job at making me feel for the aliens more than Avatar did.) I'm still rooting for mankind whenever I watch it or any other media like it like Avatar. I mean, I'm an introvert and I don't really like conversing with people all that much (you can thank working in retail and in customer service for that). But when it's us against other species, I'm the most loyal guy ever. By the way, don't ever work in customer service if you can help it. It sucks and is soul destroying.

-Definitely. If Six and Dot arrived before the simian flu overtook the world, it would've been the biggest thing of the decade, maybe even the century. But seeing as how millions of people were dying per year, it's understandable why it wasn't really focused on. Given that Six and Dot helped to develop a cure for the virus, the survivors are grateful to them and welcome any help the two are offering.

-I actually have them discuss it in this chapter.

-That's pretty much what I was trying to set up in the first chapter, having mentioned that Lex's family was slaughtered by Brutes- the closest species akin to apes. I'm not going to spoil what I have planned, but I am having that moment be the key factor that serves as the foundation that's going to be defining his view of the apes.

-That's a pretty good idea. I'll be sure to think it through.

Now that that's out of the way, onto the chapter!

Chapter 3

"They're animals!" = Normal speech

'There may be more inside.' = Thoughts

"The Spartan's here!" = Hand signals

"/ Target's down. I say again, target is down. /" = Radio

(Location: San Francisco, California)

As Six stepped off the Prowler with the airlock and deployable steps closing off behind him, he made his way underneath the ship as the sound of hydraulics hissing and machinery whirring filled the air as the cargo bay doors for the WINTER-class Prowler opened up via a command from Dot. The twin steel doors opening to reveal a lift with the cargo variant of a Warthog, which began lowering to the ground before settling on the damaged street.

Crates, bags and gear were loaded and filled the trunk of the vehicle to the brim. Containing necessary supplies such as food, medical gear, repair tools, electrical equipment, etc. All the things one could need in building a colony after the fall of civilization. Being especially more valuable as much of these tools were from his own dimension, though some were salvaged from this world like the food rations and more modern day weapons that he had salvaged over the years like the M249 SAW Paratrooper, FN FAL with a short-barrel, and his HK416.

When he had first arrived in this alternate dimension, the Prowler wasn't exactly armed to the teeth with 26th century UNSC military hardware, which resulted in Six having to familiarize himself with current day weapons. Though, Lex didn't really mind all that much as he always possessed a strong affinity for firearms and weaponry, no matter the time period. With him keeping the few weapons he had managed to bring with him kept on board the Prowler's armory.

He did keep some of his more advance equipment stored in the back of the warthog like his medical scanner, biofoam cannisters, etc. As if he lost anything, it would be difficult to reacquire, especially the tech he and Dot brought with them from the twenty-sixth century. Therefore, he kept them under heavy watch whenever he took it out and put whatever he wasn't using back when he was done with it.

Climbing into the driver's seat, he ran through the vehicles activation sequence as the truck rumbled on with a mechanical purr as Dot retracted the platform back in to the ship and sealed the cargo bay doors shut. Putting the vehicle in drive, he made his way towards the colony as he maneuvered the truck through the narrow and cramped deserted streets. After about several minutes of driving, he arrived at the building where the remaining citizens of San Francisco resided.

The crowd started cheering when they saw him approach, with it only getting louder as he stopped the Warthog in front of the building. Parking right in front of the steps leading to the tower, he turned off the engine and jumped out. From he could see Dreyfus stepped down the stairs to meet them.

"Lex," the mayor of San Francisco greeted as he held out his right hand for a handshake, which Six accepted with a nod. Though he was gentle as he didn't want to accidentally break his hand. While the names of Spartans were classified under ONI Section One, he eventually gave them his first real name as he figured there was no real harm in doing so. Plus, there was no real protocol for dealing with the situation he found himself in and many people were starting to get curious as to what his actual name was.

"I take it Dot's in there too?"

In response to the inquiry, the aforementioned artificial intelligence shimmered into existence right beside her Spartan, using his armor to project herself so that she could be seen. The blue light flickering for a few seconds as the figure cleared up, showing her chosen avatar with a smirk as she spread her arms out wide.

"You know it," Dot greeted with a smile. "It's good to see you again, Dreyfus."

The elderly man greeted the A.I. with a small smile. "Nice to see you both again. Though, did really have to do that fly by, Dot?" He asked. "Gave a few people quite the scare."

Lex gave his companion a point look, making her fidget as she looked down bashfully. "S-Sorry, couldn't help myself."

"Dot..." Six scolded. Ever since Dot had acquired her sentience and became a Smart A.I, there were times when she acted in a juvenile and flamboyant behavior. Especially when it came to showing off the Prowler and any other kind of advance tech they managed to bring with them.

Dot had retorted that this served a purpose, Helping to take people's minds off of their depressing situation- if only for a bit- by displaying the pinnacle of what mankind could achieve.

Lex did come to accept Dot's reasoning. However, he did instruct her to inform him whenever she did any of the more extravagant stuff. Such as fly-bys with the Prowler.

"Apologies, boss." the blue A.I said. "I just thought-"

"It's no problem." Dreyfus interrupted. " Just... a little warning next time?"

"Don't worry. She will." Lex answered as he gave her another look before turning his gaze back to Dreyfus. "Also, ask me next time before you do something like that again. OK?"

"Alright," she nodded her head. With now resolved, he turned his focus back on the former chief of police.

"Anyway, I hope things have gotten better since we left?"

"We've... been managing." Gordon replied. "I admit, it's been rather rough. Wish you could've been here. Some of my people said I should've asked for your help, but the two of you were busy elsewhere."

"I would've came if you had called, Dreyfus." Six assured.

"I know. I know. But I knew you were off helping others in need. Like stopping nuclear reactors from melting down in France, or distributing the cure in whatever country you happen to be in. Besides we managed, didn't we?"

"Well, it must be pretty serious if you decided to call us now." Dot chimed in.

"It is." Dreyfus affirmed as he looked over his shoulders, seeing dozens of San Francisco survivors watching the two of them converse. "Anyway, we should continue this conversation in my office." Six nodded in agreement as his partner vanished from view as he followed the leader of the San Francisco colony.

"OK people, we still have work to do. He's here to help us, so let him and Dreyfus talk. Keep it moving." Finney said as he and a few others worked to disperse the crowd, with Finney following behind them as they ascended the staircase . The people looked at him in awe as they parted to allow them to pass through, with many faces he recognized when he first landed in San Francisco several years ago.

Lex had to admit, it felt weird being the subject of much adoration. While back in his home universe the Spartans were typically looked upon in awe, they're were nearly as many that felt fear and even resentment towards them. Most notably the ODSTs and a couple other special operations units, where him and the rest of the Spartans were seen as usurpers and freaks of nature. Though, not everyone held that same view, especially once they saw the Spartans in combat.

However, he was able to understand the reason why thanks to Dot explaining it to them. The two of them had came when their world was being torn asunder and managed to deliver onto them a cure that helped save many of their lives. For many, it felt that their prayers had been answered for an answer to the virus in the form of them.

Still, there were those that harbor a bit of resentment to the two, for if they had arrived a few years earlier they might've been able to prevent the collapse of human society. While not exactly the most logical of even reasonable line of thinking, Lex supposed it made sense. Having your friends and loved ones slowly die off before a solution developed clouded a person's thoughts and emotions.

If there was anybody that felt bitterness over the fact that they had arrived after millions had already died, no one dared to show it. Probably because they realized that antagonizing a 6'9" augmented super-human clad in the finest power armor developed by an alternate and much more advanced humanity was not a smart move.

Plus, there were people like Dreyfus who defended them. Saying that if they hadn't shown up, many more would be dead. Though, that did little to alleviate the feeling of guilt Lex and Dot felt. If they had came just a little bit earlier, than they would've been able to save a lot more.

"So, how've things been going up north?" Dreyfus inquired, given that last they heard of the two.

Ever since the two of them helped to distribute the cure to what remained of the population, they started working with what remained of the worlds leadership. For the last few years, Lex and Dot were working with a coalition of all that remained of the United States Army located at the Joint Base Lewis-McChord military installation in Washington state. Assisting in maintaining the territory they still controlled and managing logistics, though the latter was more Dot's specialty than Lex's admittedly.

Furthermore, given that they had a space faring vessel. They occasionally conducted excursions into orbit to fix and maintain various satellites that still remained functional. With Dot creating a program that ensured the satellites don't fall out of the sky anytime soon and made sure that the ones that were responsible for comms remained functional.

Essentially, the two helped to make sure that global communications remained online. Given that they were the only ones who could at this point.

"It's going alright, all things considered." Dot answered for the two of them. "Command's focusing on rebuilding what we can, and what factories and production facilities we still have that are running are producing a steady flow of supplies.

Dreyfus nodded in acknowledgement. " That's good. Still, thanks for taking the time to come down to give us a hand."

"I gave my word, Dreyfus." Lex said. "I told you, if you needed help, I'll be there.""

They soon arrived at Dreyfus's office. Before entering, Dreyfus instructed Finney to make sure no one bothered them, with the ex firefighter nodding his head as the two went inside.

"So, mind giving us a brief rundown on the situation" Lex asked.

"I've been told we're two weeks away from running out of diesel. Maybe three, tops." Dreyfus obliged as Dot reprojected herself. "There's an old decommissioned dam up in the forest that I'm told will generate enough power for us. However, there is a chance that it may not work, as nobody had been up there in years. Other than the dam, we got no other options for alternative fuel sources."

"If that happens..." he trailed, but didn't need to further explain as Lex and Dot already knew the stakes. Seeing how desperate and wild people people were in the time when society fell, especially without basic services. If the colony had lost power. Well, the results were obvious.

"That's actually the reason why I asked for you two to come. If the dam turns out to be incapable of generating enough power for us, I was hoping that you would be able to come up with something." Dreyfus answered tentatively with a hopeful undertone in his voice that managed to hide the desperation he was feeling inside.

"So, what do you think? If we can't get the dam back online, you two think you could put something together?"

"The Prowler's still got a few fusions cells onboard. We could rig it up into the tower until we could come up with an alternative." Lex said thoughtfully, but he decided to ask Dot for her input. "What do you think, Dot? Could it work?"

The former dumb A.I. went quiet for roughly three seconds. Not exactly long for a human, but for her it could last for a quite a while if she wanted it too. The fact that she went quiet for that long told him that she was running his suggestion through.

"It...It's not the worst idea." The former dumb A.I. said hesitantly. "But I would not recommended it. For starters, I don't know whether or not your power grid can handle it when we plug it in. We'll need to retrofit the circuit breakers, so that every electrical device that's plug in doesn't overheat and set the whole place on fire. We're also going to need to find a way to actually connect the thing to the grid. Like I said, it can be done, just I don't know if it could in that time frame."

"I'm gonna need access to the building's electrical grid as well as the main breaker before I come up with a more definitive answer." Dot said, with Dreyfus saying he'll get someone to hand it over.

"Right now, that dam's your best chance to getting power back to the colony."

"Alright, Malcolm's assembling a group to head up there and check it out." Gordon replied stoically. Not giving away how he was feeling.

"Then I'll go with them." Lex said.

"Just in case if they run into anything up there. Plus, Dot can run a scan on the dam and see whether or not it's operational."

Dreyfus thought about it for a few seconds before he nodded his head. "Alright, I'll let Malcolm know you'll be joining him."

"No need, I'll do it myself." Six replied. "Where is he, anyway?"

"He's down at the vehicle bay getting ready to head out."

"I'll meet with him first before I get started looking into the grid."

Right before Lex began leaving, his eyes fell on the tablet sitting right on the desk. Remembering how Dreyfus told him years ago about how the ipad held the last remaining photos of his family.

With their power situation being as dire as it was and Dreyfus being the kind of man he is, it didn't take him long to figure it out.

"It's out of juice. Isn't it?" The Lieutenant asked, causing the surprising the former chief of police as his eyes widened slightly. He didn't answer, but Lex knew as he looked from the tablet with a sad look in his eyes.

Against his better judgement, but with his empathy ultimately winning over, he reached into his backpack and took out a charger connected to a power cell he charged back on the Prowler. Setting it down in front of him to a even more surprise Dreyfus.

"Lex, it's alright. I don't need-"

"Take it." Lex insisted. Making it clear, he wouldn't take no for an answer. One power cell wouldn't make much difference for the whole colony anyway. At least this way, the man could look at the last mementos he had left of his loved ones.

As Dot vanished from view and made his way to the door of the office, he pushed it halfway open before he stopped.

"Lex,"

The Spartan-III turned his head back to Dreyfus.

"Thank you."

Six gave a small nod of acknowledgement, not responding verbally, before he left the office with a determined look underneath his helmet as he began thinking on mankind back home. How he saw the very same look of desperation on many faces as the Human-Covenant war raged on. How with the fall of each planet, mankind's extinction grew ever closer and may even be extinct now as far as he and Dot knew.

Humanity from his universe may be already gone, as the invasion of Earth was just around the corner. While the thought did left him feeling depressed and broken inside, he pushed it away and resolve to instead focus on what he could do and not on what he couldn't.

If he couldn't save his mankind, then he would make sure he would save this one.

Whatever it takes.

That's it for now. Hope you guys enjoyed this chapter. Not much to talk about in regards to this chapter, so I'm going to spend some time talking about and theorizing the next apes movie. If you ain't interested, thanks again for taking the time to read this chapter and check out this story. I'll see you guys next time.

So, what are your guy's thoughts on the new trailer for Kingdom of the planet of the apes? It looks pretty good ngl. Though, it does pain me seeing mankind's achievements being lost and falling to nature. As well as humans being hunted like deer by those damn, dirty apes. Once again proving that Colonel Mccullough from War was completely right and that he was the true hero of that movie. If what remained of the United States military hadn't went through with their civil war, they might have been able to stop this from happening. I ain't going to spoil what I have planned for this fic, but I can tell you I have ideas.

I am wondering a lot of things about the main human character ("Mae" I think is her name, feel free to correct me if I'm wrong). I'm curious as to whether or not she can still speak, though it does seem she isn't feral as the orangatan that I believe is named Raka put, "She is smarter than others." There's a lot of theories going around as to whether she's an astronaut, a tribe of still intelligent humans, or something else entirely. The scenes where she's wearing what look to be modern day human clothes-albeit heavily dirty and worn down, lends credit to these theories.

Personally, I'm leaning towards the idea she came from a hidden society of humans that managed to retained their intelligence, as she looks to young to be an astronaut for me. Add onto scenes of what looks to be an underground shelter, makes me believe it may be possible we'll see humans living in one like the vault dwellers from the Fallout series. Which hopefully lends credit to my idea and hope that we will see a POTA version of the Enclave. Of course, I could be entirely wrong but I'm still hoping.

That concludes my thoughts for the day. What do you guys think?

See you guys next time. Take care and remember... stay frosty, gents.
