So, I want to start using the original spelling of the Soma family last name. While that may not make much of a difference, I just felt like I should start using it.
Also, another fic is in the works. I will still continue this (though I have no idea how many chapters this should be) and I trust I'll know when I should end it.
I hope you're liking these stories so far.
Summary: It shouldn't be surprising to hear him receive one… but why did it hurt?
Tohru froze upon seeing a scene she had never thought she will see in her life: a young man and a young woman standing at the back of the school gym, the girl's hands holding out what seemed to be a medium-sized box, a present, she surmised. The late afternoon sun shone directly on them so she a hard time identifying who it was at first, but as soon as her eyes adjusted she recognized the blond hair.
The young man is none other than Soma Momiji.
Her mouth fell open, a gasp making its way past her lips. She hurriedly hid behind the corner wall, dragging the training cones she was carrying with her when she was supposed to be on her way to the gym supply room. She couldn't resist the urge to peek back at the two, her eyes landing first on Momiji, who was facing her way, before turning to look at the girl whose back was turned to hers.
The girl had short brown hair, who she didn't recognize to be anyone in their year. She must have been a freshman, something about her aura gave her that impression.
She normally wasn't one to eavesdrop, especially to personal instances like this, but she couldn't help herself. This is Momiji, and he was getting a confession from a cute girl!
She was startled at the sharp pain which flashed in her chest at that realization.
"I… I like you so much, Soma-senpai." The girl was saying, her voice trembling. "I hope you'll give me a chance. I promise I will treat you well."
She should be happy for the rabbit. Momiji had always been someone who treated her well. Someone who tried to make her smile in spite of everything she had been going through – someone who had taken a punch to his face in an attempt to prevent Akito from getting to her. He deserved to be as happy as the next person should be.
But she couldn't believe what she was feeling right now. It felt like she wanted to disappear. It felt like she wanted to get away from there but stay at the same time just to hear his response. She felt an emotion that she had hardly felt at all – she felt jealous.
Of what? Of the girl?
She shouldn't have been surprised to hear a girl confessing her feelings to him. Momiji is a very attractive young man. He had always been a cute little boy, but the growth spurt served as a slap to reality to everyone that he was actually a young man as well who can give Kyo and Yuki a run for their money when it came to looks. People who knew him longer tended to forget the fact that he was a teenager who was just a year younger than them.
Hearing this now hurt so much, especially since she became an involuntary witness to what was supposed to be a heartwarming scene. There was only one reason why it would hurt and why she would feel jealous of the girl.
Tohru wished to the high heavens she wasn't hit by this realization now.
