Happy New Year folks! I think I am reaching the end of this collection. I am working on another Momiru fic after all, but we'll still see. Have a lovely weekend, beloved readers!
Summary: Things were just getting better and better.
He was making notes on a music sheet he was busy studying, busy scribbling here and there, his beloved violin placed carefully beside him on the couch he was sitting on. He was slated to perform in a mini-concert in two months' time, and as such, her beloved husband was studying the second of the pieces he will be performing in Suntory Hall – one of the most prestigious and finest concert halls in the world.
She felt nervous even when she knew she shouldn't be, as she stood observing him quietly from her place in the doorway to his very own practice room he had built in their house before they had gotten married. Such was his concentration and focus on the task before him that he hadn't felt her presence yet.
Her fingers felt cold and shaky as she held a cup of coffee that she brought with her in the guise of not wanting him to miss his precious coffee time, while holding an unassuming, short, plastic stick in her other hand, partially hidden from sight.
She wondered how he would react. She normally kept out of his way when he was practicing, even when he had made it clear that she could always come to him anytime when she needed to tell him something – but this time she thought she had the perfect reason to come see him during practice time. She couldn't help but imagine his reaction to what she would tell him.
She gave a soft knock, making the blond look up to her, his harried expression softening to a smile upon seeing her. An answering smile bloomed from her lips, and she took his arm he had lifted towards her as an invitation to join him.
She slid carefully beside him, offering the coffee and making him sigh in appreciation as the aroma wafted to his nostrils. He took a great whiff, taking it from her and dropping a kiss on the crown of her head as he straightened up from making notes on the music sheet, dropping the pencil anyhow on the stand it was placed on and slipping an arm around her waist. "Ah, thank you. It was about time you visited me here too."
"Is practice going well?" She asked, laying her head on his chest and rubbing her hand on it, looking up to him just in time to see him sigh.
"Kind of. That bridge is giving me hölle." He groaned in response, after sipping, though his expression turned determined not even a minute after admitting it. "I'll figure it out eventually."
"I'm sure you will." She assured him, smiling delicately at him.
Silence made its way between them as he continued to sip on his coffee, before he turned to her. "And how are you? This is the first time you visited me during one of my practices. Something you want to tell me?"
Tohru felt nervous but strangely giddy at the same time. "I do. Well…"
She lifted her head, placing her lips next to his ear, whispering, as if it was something she preferred a secret between the two of them in spite of the fact that it was just the two of them at their own home. She leaned back just as she finished, watching her husband's expression closely.
His head snapped to her, eyes wide, so wide that she could see two clear reflections of herself in his topaz irises. His expression was one of disbelief.
"… What? A-Are you sure?"
She pecked him on the lips sweetly before lifting the little plastic stick she held in her other hand, showing him the two pink lines on it.
He didn't respond for an entire minute, before it finally seemed to sink in to him – he dropped the now empty cup of coffee to the – thankfully – carpeted floor.
"Mein gott, Tohru, you – you're… oh my goodness, you're… you're pregnant! I can't believe… I can't – this is such a lovely gift, thank you!"
She gave a little, happy squeal as he stood up and lifted her so easily and twirled her, his laughter mixed with delighted tears resounding throughout the practice room. She was also crying happily, seeing her husband's reaction had been more than enough to confirm how he felt at this news.
He carefully lowered her down as he took her in a dance around the room, thoughts of practicing far off from his mind as he celebrated her, kissing her on the cheek and thanking her, telling her she was amazing for giving him this unexpected, wonderful gift.
Tohru knew they would be alright, and things from now on would just get better and better. Her gut feel never failed her after all and she knew her peace is with Momiji.
Only with him.
