Chapter 7:
"I always knew that you would come back to harass and destroy Charlie's and Bella's lives again."
Edward stopped running back to the house and whirled around as Sam tried to keep an angry Jacob back. Edward was being held back by Emmet as Jacob assaulted his brain with memories of the fateful day of 2009, but Edward noted one thing and decided to use it.
"As if you're one to talk," Edward said coldly, "because of your stubbornness and pride Charlie was almost killed. If you were just able to put it aside he would still have both of his arms, then another one of your father's friends wouldn't have been attacked by the same vampire."
"You think I don't regret it?!" Jacob exclaimed. "I wasn't quick enough to save Harry?! That I couldn't shove my own pride away to protect Charlie? I live with those regrets every single day."
Edward looked stunned as he studied Jacob up and down. Jacob let out a dry laugh as Sam steps back, now understanding the situation.
"But I think it's better to live with my regret," Jacob calmly spoke, "then pretend that I did nothing wrong and try to make someone wolf-out in order to try to get a happily married woman to come back to him."
Edward was about to counter, but nothing came out then he suddenly felt so tired…
Edward was immediately out, going slacked in Emmet's hold as the sound of someone came up to the group from behind Sam and Jacob. As the four, still awake, men turned they saw both Professor Arronax standing there with Captain Nemo and Dr. Cullen walked towards them. They looked annoyed at Edward.
"Well," Arronax sighed, turning to Carlisle, "now we really can't have this meeting in town. He'll expose everyone's secrets in the first five minutes."
"And there is no way in hell we're letting him back into our land," Sam huffed.
Jacob studied the doctor's face. He's never seen him this angry before, but then again things never got this hectic before.
"Then we'll do the meeting at our residence," Carlisle said, "I was going to suggest it in the first place. Figured it was secluded enough in case he'd try a stunt like this and it's big enough for everyone to sit."
"Plus Esme and I will have an excuse to use the kitchen now!" Emmet said excitedly, before looking down at Edward. But all he got was a snoring.
"Don't worry," Arronax said, "the boy will be out for a day. But he will definitely be hungry afterwards."
The vampires nodded at the Professor in amazement. All quietly wondering if the Professor could do that to them and the ladies.
"As much as I want to disagree with you Cullens," Jacob spoke up again, "it's definitely a good idea to have the meeting at your house."
"So who's coming to the meeting?" Carlisle asked, as he was genuinely curious about it seeing that there were more shifters than since they were last here.
"It will be," Sam replied, "me, Jacob, Billy, Paul, Quill, Embry, Seth, and Leah. Half of the newer pack members will be acting as guards outside the meeting, the other half will be patrolling for any wandering vampires and suddenly changing vampires."
Nemo answered, "And the entire league will be there. So twelve people."
The vampire doctor nodded to the men before turning to Jasper and Emmet then gesturing for them to head home. As the three, plus the sleeping, vampires vanished from sight the shifters nodded to the two men and walked away as well.
"Quick thinking Pierre," Nemo replied. As the Professor smiled at the Indian captain, he explained his reason.
"Even with Jacob or Sam not shifting to spite the boy that doesn't mean no one would try to punch him if he kept on talking."
Both men sighed, knowing that this upset some of their teammates.
