Chapter 10:

"My family has to leave."

Bella was stunned to hear that after worrying about the entire Cullens disappearance right after her birthday only for Edward to be waiting for her after school. However when he invited her into the woods, it made Bella realize that something was wrong. It made her mind race with multiple scenarios.

Was Victoria going crazy? Did she report the Cullens to the Volturi? Did Jasper accidentally hurt someone? Did Alice get a vision?

"Why?" Bella managed to ask.

Edward looked away as if he couldn't bring himself to say what he needed to say next. He turned back to her as he answered, "Carlisle looks younger than he should and the hospital is getting suspicious, so we need to leave."

'Really?' She thought. 'I haven't noticed anyone looking at them very oddly.'

"Okay," Bella said, brushing off her suspicious thoughts, "Let me think up an excuse to tell Charlie and to pack."

But from Edward's face that what he meant 'we' wasn't what she thought was 'we'.

"W-when you mean we?" Bella asked not wanting to believe what this moment is.

"I mean my family and I," Edward said, "you have to stay here."

'No,' Bella thought in shock, 'no way. What is he saying?'

"I'm coming." Bella said, getting riled up by all of this.

'Didn't he tell me he wanted to be with me?' Bella thought. 'Why is acting like this?'

"Bella," Edward said, "I don't want you to come."

"Y-you," Bella asked, "you don't want me?"

"No," Edward said.

Bella looked down at the forest floor as she said softly, "Well that changes things."

"Besides," Edward said, "I think it's better this way."

Bella looked up confused. Edward had an odd smile on his face.

"You see," Edward explained, "my kind can get easily distracted with simple things."

'W-what?' Bella thought as Edward laughed darkly as he continued on.

"Don't you get it Bella," he said, "I was bored of acting as a human and needed to distract myself with something entertaining. You."

Bella looked hurt as she backed away before whirling around.

"That's how you really felt," Bella said bitterly, "fine get out of here then."

"Wait Bella," Edward worriedly explained, "I didn't mean to upset you."

Bella whirled around as she spat out, "Didn't mean to upset me?! What is this then?"

Edward looked away as he replied, "I'm sorry, but I can't…"

'Can't what?!' She thought bitterly, wishing she could just show him her thoughts. 'Be with me? Turn me? Wait…'

"Oh if this is about my soul," Bella countered, remembering both conversations she had on her birthday, "then take it! I don't care."

"It's not about that," Edward said, more worried about her sudden outburst, "I'm not safe for you, but me leaving will keep you safe, then you can have a normal happy life. So promise me that you won't do anything dangerous once I'm gone."

'This idiot isn't seriously trying to make me promise to stay safe once he's gone,' Bella thought angrily as she glared at him. He smiled at her with his arms extending towards her, as if he wanted to say a proper goodbye.

"Never appear in front of me ever again or I'll find a way to kill you with my bare hands," Bella stated coldly as she marched her way back home. Leaving a startled Edward alone in the woods confused.

Over the next few months she grieved her first and only relationship then the rest her 'normal' life was gone after Victoria tried to attack Charlie but took Harry's life instead. Then Charlie was thrown into the world of the supernatural when Jacob started blaming Bella for all of this. Until it made Bella snap, telling everyone what she had to go through from when she first met the Cullens to her breakup. That since it was her fault she'll handle this by herself so they can just forget about her after she leaves to keep Victoria away from them.

However the pack and Charlie managed to calm her down while she was packing up her truck, saying that they were all in this together now. So Bella explained everything she learned about the Volturi, when Victoria did her first attack with her army they somehow managed to destroy almost all of them before Victoria retreated. They've been fighting Victoria, along with battling off the Volturi's advances on Bella and Charlie, for three years until the world nearly ended on them. How Bella vanished for five days.
