The Favorite Fives: Big Trouble in a Big City Part 2

Crank was exiting out of the firehouse. He felt relaxed after spending some of the day there. He was walking to the center of the city, where Steven and the others agreed to meet once their get all their signatures filled.

This is awesome! My pages are full of signatures! I can't wait to show the others how many I have got. Goodbye, new city! Hello again, Quiet Country! Crank kept smiling to himself.

As he was walking, he felt a breeze. He saw that the firefighter truck was speeding on the road. A local house ended up being on fire, so the firefighters had to take action to stop it.

"Whoa. That was fast. Those guys are really spot on the job." Crank said to himself.

Unknown to him, there were some cars behind him that were also speeding. It was too late for Crank to notice, as he ended up being squashed by those cars, one by one. Crank pulled himself together after being ran over. "What are those cars doing, speeding like that? Don't they know that there was a kid in the middle of the road?"

"Get out of the way, you no good troublemaker!" the driver shouted from behind.

"The same to you, wacko!" Crank shouted. He hurried over to the sidewalk. While he was trying to run to the area, he ended up running into a fire hydrant. He slowed down in the running due to him being in pain. Suddenly, he saw the same business cars speeding by him. Crank knew he had to hurry over to the area where he would meet his friends before it is too late.

Darn it! The day is about to end! I must meet up with my friends to check our progress so we can stop our neighborhood from being destroyed! But these cars aren't making it easy for me to find them! How can I get through them? Crank thought to himself and looked around for anything that can help him. He spotted some buckets of paint and a tent. He smiled to himself, giving him an idea. He rushed to the tent after grabbing the paint buckets. Crank will put his idea in action.

Around the same time, Linka was panting heavily on another section of the city. She ended up giving assistance to those who needed help. It was exhausting for her since she had to run at multiple areas around the city. The girl came up to a park bench, out of breath.

"That was one busy day. I never knew trying to make good deeds around here would be so much work! The amount of pushing blocks, helping people with chores, cleaning the cars, and walking their pets, it is all hard work! But I will say this. It was all worth it to get a lot of signatures in my end!" Linka viewed her clipboard and checked the number of signatures. She had reached her end of the list. Linka smiled as she looked up the sky. Quiet Country, you are going to be saved by the Favorite Fives! As she was about to relax, she felt a slight nudge. She looked up to see a police officer carrying his nightstick, and one word to describe his mood: displeased.

"Young lady, we have a rule out here in the city. Do not loiter around!" the police officer pointed at a sign of rules above Linka with his nightstick.

"Ouch. Sorry about that, sir. I will avoid doing that," Linka replied as she got off the bench. But as she did, the cop noticed that her sweat suddenly damaged some of the paint from the bench. Linka noticed this as well. "Oops!"

The cop made an angry face and started to march towards Linka. "Young lady, you are coming with me. You damaged city property!"

This made Linka nervously walk backwards. "I'm so sorry about that, officer. I didn't mean to cause that happen. It was an accident!" Unaware to her, she was walking backwards toward a sidewalk. The stop sign turned green, and cars drove. They avoided crashing on Linka, but they ended crashing on some parts of the stores, causing car accidents. This made the police officer go inside his car and start it. Linka ran for dear life while the police car chased her.

"This is bad! Very bad!" Linka shouted.

"Give up now, and your punishment won't be as harsh as it will be later!" the cop shouted from his megaphone.

Linka gulped. If she gave herself up, she won't be able to meet up with her friends on the area where they would meet to group the signatures that they have for saving their neighborhood. The only thing she can do is to get the police officer off her trail by giving him random directions that would make him confused and forget about chasing her. Linka sprinted off to another section of the city, making sure the police officer followed her.

Jennifer and her father were outside the bakery. It was closing time, and the customers left satisfied. The tomboy was even more satisfied herself since she reached the number of signatures needed on her clipboard. And she also had helped raise the family's business by raising the amount of money they need to keep their bakery business open.

"That was a whole lot of funds we have raised!" Jennifer claimed.

"Exactly, honey. If it weren't for your help, we wouldn't be a major success!" her dad agreed.

"What's even better, I managed to complete my end of the signatures in order to save Quiet Country's neighborhood!"

"That's my girl," her dad replied, ruffling her hair. "I will see you later. I have to get back home to prepare dinner." He got inside his truck and drove off.

"See you later, dad," Jennifer waved goodbye. "Now, time to meet the others to see where we stand!" she ran to the area where she and her friends agreed to meet. As she got there, she looked around, waiting for the other kids to show up. Few minutes passed, but her friends didn't show up. "Where is everyone?"

A car sped by her. It is the same car that she and her friends saw earlier this morning. She decided to give chase to it. As she was about to reach it, she ended up crashing into a man.

"Hey, watch where you are walking!" the man said.

"Sorry about tha-" Jennifer replied, but got interrupted as the man grabbed her hair.

"I know what this is all about! You were going to do that routine of bumping into someone, and while they recover, their wallet gets stolen! Well, not today!"

As Jennifer pulled back her hair, the man pulled some pepper spray from his pocket and sprayed it at the tomboy. Jennifer screamed in pain as a result.

"Ow! It's very hot!"

"Well, that's what deadbeats like you deserve," the man responded, before walking away.

It took a few seconds for Jennifer to recover from her injury. She looked down at a water puddle, looking at her reflection. Her hair was a mess, and her eyes are bloodshot due to her being pepper sprayed. "Man, I am a mess. I have to hurry up and find the other-"

The tomboy suddenly heard a shout from a yard away. "Get out the way! I can't see! There are cars there, you idiot!"

"What is all that about?" Jennifer asked. She went on over to the side of the road and discovered a bizarre sight. A big orange cone was on the side of the road, walking across it. It hit other traffic cones on the progress, making the tomboy have a confused look. "This city is crazy if I had to guess. We better leave this city before we end up going bonkers." Jennifer made her way to find out what is all the ruckus about.

Meanwhile at the laboratory, Luke had passed all his tests. He stepped out of the room, with all the scientists clapping for his achievement.

"Bravo!" all the scientists cheered.

"Thank you, thank you all!" Luke bowed down.

"I never knew one boy would be able to handle all those experiments and not give up in the middle of it!" one scientist applauded.

"Personally, I thought he would have stopped during the flamethrower and boulder test!" another scientist claimed.

Luke grabbed his clipboard and checked the signatures. Checkmate. He thought to himself. His quota has been fulfilled. The Favorite Fives's mission will be complete! As he was about to head out to the exit, the chief scientist blocked his way.

"Wait there, young man! Before you go, I want to congratulate you for helping us with out lab tests,"

"No problem, sir. It is the least I can do for you since I needed the required names on the papers to save my neighborhood. I got to get on going. I'm meeting my friends in a few minutes!" Luke replied.

"Before you do so, I want you to have this!" the chief scientist gave him a beaker with a blue liquid. "It's the prototype blueberry juice we have been working on. We want to know your opinion on this to see if it's a success."

"Eh, worth the drink after all I've gone through," Luke shrugged as he drank the beaker. He ended up feeling his mouth was on fire at first, then admired its taste. "Ouch! It's spicy! With a hint of—" Suddenly, his eyes start bulging. He dropped the beaker, shattering the glass on the floor. Luke felt a sharp pain behind him. He looked to see that he had a tail. "What's happening to me?!" The boy looked at his hands, and out came sharp claws. His teeth turned sharp, and his hair grew. Luke roared when his transformation was complete.

"Dear, he turned into a scorpion!" one scientist yelled.

The chief scientist inspected the liquid with a small spoon. He found out he gave Luke the wrong liquid. "Oops."

"ROOOAAARRR!" Luke roared as he swung his tail, injuring the scientists. The scorpion-boy crashed through the wall, escaping from the lab.

"Well, that boy went out with a huff," one scientist confirmed, as the others agreed.

Luke dashed through the roads at an incredible speed. He picked up some cars and threw them at some stores, causing destruction. A few businessmen saw this happening and dialed their phones for help. Some tanks came in to stop Luke.

"Stop this destruction immediately!" one soldier shouted from a megaphone.

Luke responded by throwing his claws at the tanks. One by one, the tanks were destroyed, along with some buildings that were nearby. Although he is a giant scorpion now, he still remembers that he needs to meet up with Steven, Linka, Jennifer, and Crank on an area to compare progress. He crawled over the road to find his destination.

Meanwhile on another section of the city, Steven is sleeping on a bed. He wakes up to find a cat. Wait, what? How did I get here? The boy wondered while looking around the room. He found out he is in a bedroom of an apartment. The door opened to reveal a girl walking inside the room. She had blonde hair (which was wrapped in a ponytail), blue eyes, and small eyelashes. She wore a purple shirt, blue shorts, and yellow sneakers. Her skin color is dark brown. The girl appeared to be from Australia, since Steven looked around the bedroom that contained some Australian stuff. She is carrying a plate of breakfast for Steven and got on top of the bed.

"Are you alright there, mate?" the girl asked Steven in concern. She spoke in an Australian accent.

"Yeah, it was a crazy night. Where am I?" Steven asked before eating his Belgian pancakes, scrambled eggs, and bacon.

"You're in our apartment. We are staying here a bit since my father has been hired for a new job around here." The girl replied to his question.

"Makes sense. Nice room you have here. I'm Steven Cooper, by the way." Steven held out his hand after finishing up his food.

"Call me Daisy Seville," the girl shook his hand. She looked at the bump on his head. "Ouch! Here's an ice pack for your bump."

Steven looked at the mirror after applying the ice pack on his head. He grimaced in response. "I ended up getting ambushed last night,"

"Wait, that was you?" Daisy covered her mouth in shock.

"Yeah, how did you know?"

Daisy gulped in response. "Well, if ya must know, one night, I was trying to find my dog that same night. He ended up running out of the house ever since my dad accidently left the door open for him. I was trying to find him while defending myself against some things that would harm me, but I heard a cat yowl. I ran to an area where I last heard it, and I ended up running at ya. I thought yous were a crook that was trying to hurt the cat, so I knocked you out. It wasn't until I found out that ya were trying to protect the cat. Sorry about attacking ya."

Steven smiled in response after drinking orange juice. "It's alright. You were only wanting to save that cat. You know, come to think of it, the last thing I remember was chasing the dogs that were going to tear that cat apart. I have to go find out if the feline is alright."

"Crikey, mate. A big city like this is iffy for ya. I will be accompanying ya on this. Ya should also get out of the city while you still can. Heard there will be some heavy construction, and all people must be out of the way." Daisy replied.

Steven widened his eyes in shock. "Oh, no! The others! I have to meet up with the others!"

Daisy was confused. "What others?"

Steven explained the whole situation to Daisy. "You see, we live in this neighborhood at Quiet Country, Ohio. Me and the others found out it will become a city, forcing us to be separated from each other! Luckily, we have found a way to appeal this. Each of us have a clipboard that contains lists of signatures needed to be filled so we can stop the businessmen from taking over our neighborhood."

"Ya mean like this?" the Australian girl held up Steven's clipboard and gave it back to him. "Found it while you were knocked out that night."

The boy pointed at the clipboard. "Yeah! This is the one! Me and the others have those. We were supposed to meet at a central area to see each other's progress! I wonder where they are…"

Daisy rushed on over to grab a couple of boomerangs. She changed into her outfit from Australia. "While we go look for that cat and dog, we can run into your mates as well. I'll do everything I can to help you save your neighborhood in the meantime. But first, feel free to take a shower in the restroom. No offense, but you smell like one of those galahs that came home from those bottle-o's."

"Right," Steven said, as he rushed on over to the restroom. A few minutes later, Steven got finished with his shower, but after grabbing his towel, he realized he didn't bring any spare clothes. "Ugh! I forgot to bring other clothes!"

"Yous need no wucka's about it. I reckon it. I'll go get something to help you out, mate." Daisy said from the other side. She went to grab a few clothes that would fit Steven's size. He opened the door and looked at the mirror.

"Hmm, I actually don't look that bad! It's perfect!" Steven claimed.

"Crikey! That is one deadest statement! You would like to travel to Australia with me soon!"

"We can think about that. I'll ask the others to see if they are interested." Steven replied.

"Beauty! My dad's flat out with work, so I guess it is us that have the hard yakka today. Let's head on out to find your mates and my pet." Daisy announced.

Steven and his new friend Daisy headed to the window of the apartment. They see many things occurring in the city. Steven held onto his clipboard and looked at Daisy before viewing the window again. Linka, Crank, Luke, Jennifer, I don't know where you are now, but in case we don't meet at the area like we said we would, let's all go back to the neighborhood to appeal the construction of the new city. There's already enough trouble in this one. The two kids headed out the door to find Steven's friends and the pet Daisy lost.
