Chapter 14 CSI Vegas

Sean smirked as he flew to Vegas with Rogue and Thrud on Spyro while the other Dragon riders flew with them.

"So this is Vegas?" Hiccup asked seeing the bright lights and various other things.

"Isn't that the Eiffel Tower?" Astrid asked seeing it.

"Technically thats the Vegas version of it." Sean said.

"Look at it all." Fishlegs said seeing the whole place.

"So remind me again why we're here?" Snotlout asked.

"I'm recruiting people from the crime scene investigation unit. Or the CSI for short. And One of the best I know is in Vegas." Sean said.

"Oh so this is another recruitment mission." Astrid said.

"Basically. I know a lot of CSI people from Vegas, New York and Miami." Sean said.

"Mentors of yours?" Thrud asked.

"Pretty much." Sean said before they landed down on top of a Large building.

"What is this place?" Hiccup asked.

"CSI headquarters of the Vegas faction. We'll go to the others at later dates but right now I wanna check in on this team since I knew them first." Sean said as they got off.

"Shouldn't one of us stay and look out for the dragons?" Fishlegs asked before mini drones flew out.

"They'll do just that." Sean said as they went inside.

"Whoa." Hiccup said seeing all the people working on cases.

"So what do they do here?" Astrid asked.

"Look into the evidence of crime scenes to determine who's guilty and innocent." Sean said.

"Why. Someone says someone is guilty then thats it. End of story." Snotlout said as if he was right.

"Wrong." Sean said making him blink. "Looking into the evidence can prove when someone is lying and when someone is telling the truth." Sean said.

"And provide other details that we're not aware of." A man in his early 40's said.

"Hey Grissom." Sean said making him grin.

"Nice to see you again Sean. But I take it this isn't a social visit." Grissom said.

"No. Actually I came to recruit you guys for the Legion's CSI team." Sean said making him scoff.

"What are you trying to do? Put every other CSI out of work?" Grissom asked.

"HA HA HA. Real funny. More like you won't have to have the stupid road blocks you guys get when it comes to Feds and idiots who constantly block you." Sean said.

"Fair enough. But right now I just got called in on a case. Might as well come along." Grissom said.

"This should be fun." Hiccup said.

Later

"Ah damnit old man." Sean said seeing an old man in a body bag.

"You knew this guy?" Astrid asked

"He was an old friend. Doyle Pfeiffer. He was the greatest poker player in the world from his universe. Taught me everything about the game." Sean said.

"How'd he die?" Hiccup asked.

"That is what we are gonna find out." Grissom asked.

"Whats with the little circles on the table?" Snotlout asked.

"Poker chips. Instead of holding money on the table they do this." Warrick said.

"Really?" Snotlout said about to take them.

"Don't touch anything or you'll contaminant the Evidence." Sean said sternly making him jump back making Astrid giggle.

"So what exactly happened?" Thrud asked.

"Not sure. Witnesses say he was just convulsing." Jim said.

"Sounds like a heart attack." Sean said.

"Yeah but in this kind of game we have to cover every fact." Grissom said.

"What you think he was poisoned?" Astrid asked.

"Well, Not all poisons have taste added to them. And mixed with certain drinks or foods it's difficult to detect them." Fishlegs said.

"Smart kid." Warrick said impressed.

"Well, Fishlegs studies a lot." Sean said.

"Nerd." Snotlout said before Thrud punched him down.

Later

"Ok so lets see what we got." Sean said as he, Thrud, Hiccup and Astrid entered autopsy.

"Sean. Been a while." Dr Robins said.

"Yeah. So got anything?" Sean said.

"Well, I don't think this was a heart attack since he does appear to be in good health to be honest. But not ruling out a stroke either." Robins said.

"Whats a stroke?" Astrid asked.

"It's when blood is blocked from the brain or a blood vessel ruptures. Some are minor and others are more damaging." Sean said.

"He's right. Some people can recover fully from certain strokes and others can't. But modern science with Immortal tech is fixing the ones that originally couldn't fully recover." Robins said.

"So he could have died from a stroke then?" Hiccup asked.

"I'm not certain just yet but there is a possibility." Robins said.

"But you have another?" Sean asked.

"Theres signs here and there of lead poisoning." Robins said showing the nails, Mouth and gums that had all the signs.

"He has a bullet in him so I know he could have gotten it from there." Sean said.

"Wait what?" Astrid asked.

"He's right." Robins said showing an X-Ray of said bullet in him.

"Why didn't he get it removed?" Hiccup asked.

"Pride, Stubbornness...Or to brag about it that he survived a gunshot wound." Sean said amused.

"But the bullet is lead though right?" Thrud asked.

"Well, Technically they all are." Robins said.

"95%." Sean said.

"But you don't think thats what killed him?" Hiccup asked.

"Not yet. I only just started. You guys want more information...Do it the old fashioned way. Find evidence." Robins said as they left.

"That was...Informative." Hiccup said.

"Now you see why we use CSI. They find evidence to prove what really happened rather than just go on the word of people since they can be lies or just theories. This on the other hand gets us closer to the truth." Sean said.

"And you're trying to build up your own team so they don't get blocked by people trying to prevent the truth from coming out." Astrid said.

"Yup. Thats what bad lawyers do." Sean said.

"OUCH!" Snotlout yelled in pain.

"Oh boy." Astrid said seeing him covered in some green stuff making Sean laugh.

"Now that is a Good Loki prank." Tuffnut said as Ruffnut giggled.

"Guys." Hiccup said annoyed.

"Is this poisonous? Am I gonna die?" Snotlout yelled in fear making Grissom chuckle.

"Relax. It's harmless unless you swallow. Just go to a decontamination shower." Grissom said making him rush to it.

"And you two don't go messing with anything here. You could compromise evidence that could solve a crime." Sean said.

"It was hard not to do it to him. You know what I mean?" Ruffnut asked laughing.

"Fair. But still don't do that." Sean said.

Later

"You gotta be kidding me." Sean said seeing a recording of the game before Dylon's death

"What am I not seeing?" Thrud asked seeing a woman with eye drops.

"She killed him? With Eye Drops?" Warrick asked.

"Huh?" Astrid asked.

"Well, it's not that far fetched. Tetrahydrozoline is the active ingredient in Eye drops. Obviously it's great for bloodshot eyes." Sara said.

"I can buy that. You ingest the Eye drops it constricts the blood vessels throughout your body. Maybe even spike your blood pressure. Perhaps even cause a stroke." Warrick said.

"In which case caused him to die. But...I don't see the motive." Sean said.

"So he could have died from a simple product thats used to help people." Hiccup said.

"Yeah. But we still don't know if thats actually the case. Let's go talk to her shall we?" Sean asked as they left.

Later

"Lita...Was a cheater." Sean said.

"Huh? How?" Warrick asked.

"The eye drops were to help a contact lens she had on. She was using it to spot out marked cards. Thats who she knew when to fold." Sean said.

"You can do that?" Fishlegs asked.

"These days people are always finding inventive ways to cheat in games. This is why money will be erased in a few years since everything is about the money these days." Sean said.

"What about Dylon's death?" Fishlegs asked.

"She didn't do it. I looked her right in the eye and could feel her pulse. She had nothing to do with it. And her eyes drops did not contain the chemical we were looking for. His drink was spiked but it had something else in it that her eye drops didn't have." Sean said.

"And what is that?" Thrud asked.

"Zinc Sulfate. Her eyes drops didn't have that. So it wasn't her." Sean said.

"Which means someone else did it." Hiccup said.

"Yeah...But now that I think about it. I don't think anyone intended to kill him. Something is bugging me. He has all the signs of lead poisoning...So why did it happen so damn quick like that?" Sean asked.

"You thinking it was just an accident?" Astrid asked.

"Or something else." Sean said leaving.

"Found out what happened." Grissom said.

"Shoot." Sean said.

"The Waitress spiked his drink because as she said he was a stiff." Grissom said making him scoff.

"He was old fashioned. So...She spikes his drink with eye drops and it somehow kills him." Sean said.

"But that wasn't her intention. She claims she just wanted to give him Diarrhea." Grissom said making him laugh.

"Seriously?" Sean asked.

"Well...Technically speaking it could cause it. It's not very common but yes." Grissom said.

"Well...I don't see her as a cold blooded killer so I don't think she's lying. But something about this whole thing is bugging me." Sean said.

"Like what?" Grissom asked.

"I don't know. I scanned the body and it did show signs of lead poisoning. But the Eye drops alone wouldn't be enough to cause it unless...Oh." Sean said.

"What?" Grissom asked.

"You still got the candy he had before he died?" Sean asked.

"Yes...Oh. I see where you're going with this." Grissom said.

Later

"Our waitress is not the killer. It was an accident. But she alone is not the sole cause." Sean said.

"Then what is?" Astrid asked.

"This." Sean said holding the candy Dylon was known to eat every game.

"HAHAHAHAHAHAHA! Thats what killed him? Chocolate? You might as well step down and let me take over now if you think thats what killed him." Snotlout laughed as everyone frowned at him making him stop. "What? You can't seriously tell me thats actually what killed him...Is it poisoned?" Snotlout asked.

"Not intentionally." Sean said.

"Huh?" Hiccup asked.

"Fun fact. Chocolate is made from Cocoa plants. And 70% of the world's chocolate pre-merge...Comes from West Africa." Sean said.

"So?" Thrud asked.

"This is no longer true these days but it was true then. Most cars in West Africa use leaded Gas. So when the Exhaust fumes disperse into the atmosphere and it rains...It pours lead." Sean said as Grissom demonstrated by spraying a plant.

"Like acid Ran." Sara said.

"Whatever's in the Atmosphere gets into the soil gets into the cocoa plants." Warrick said.

"Capillary action." Sean said.

"Wait if thats actually true wouldn't health regulations stop production and dispose of them?" Hiccup asked.

"They didn't fully know about that till years later. Most of the products are already out. The Cocoa is harvested, Processed, refined, sold into bulk, and eventually." Grissom said.

"Made into candy." Fishlegs said.

"So Dylon had no idea he was eating the same poison that was already in him." Astrid said.

"By my count he's been eating this same stuff for 16 years after he won the poker championship in the 80's from his universe. It was his good luck charm. Now if he's been eating this stuff for years combined with the bullet in him and then combined with the eye drops." Sean said.

"All three killed him." Thrud said.

"Mmmhmm. The Waitress may have set off the charge but truthfully...It was death by chocolate." Sean said

"Uh..." Ruffnut said holding a chocolate bar.

"Relax...Everything is being examined throughly. And it took 16 years before it killed him." Sean said.

"Still thats a scary thought. A sweat killing you." Hiccup said.

"True. Still It's Ironic. His lucky charm ended up being his demise. I think even he would laugh a little." Sean said chuckling.

Later

"Now I see why you wanted to bring them in. All the evidence really does matter." Hiccup said.

"Yup. Hence why I'm making a Legion version with all the latest tech to help find all the evidence they need." Sean said before entering his office.

Only to come face to face with some penguin face.

"Piplup!"

"Whoa!" Both yelled in surprise.

"HA! Fooled ya!"

Sean looked seeing a girl who was 16 years old with dark blue eyes and hair and white skin. She also had large breasts and a bubble butt.

"Dawn?" Sean asked.

"Nice to see you again. Sean." Dawn said grinning

"Jeez. I didn't expect you to come down here." Sean said before seeing several others in the room.

"Piplup."

Sean looked down seeing a rather unique penguin.

"Uh did that thing just talk?" Hiccup asked

"All these kind do their name alone." Sean said before some yellow mouse with red circles on it's cheeks jumped to his shoulder.

"Pikachu."

"Hey buddy." Sean said.

"Hey Sean long time no see."

"Ash, Brock, May, Misty, Max. Good to see you all again." Sean said.

"More old friends of yours...And what are these things anyway?" Hiccup asked.

"Their Pokemon. You know about the Duel monsters game right?" Sean asked.

"Sure. I've seen a few people play it in the break room down below." Hiccup said.

"Well, These are something similar. Each Pokémon have different abilities through species and so on. Like him for example. Pikachu is an electric Pokémon." Sean said.

"Chu." Pikachu said.

"Oh I get it. Like how different dragons have different abilities." Hiccup said.

"Yeah. And they catch them and battle with them. To catch them they use these." Sean said holding up a red and white ball. "You battle and weaken them and then you can capture them. Although I don't do that since it feels like slavery to me." Sean said.

"So you have some of your own?" Hiccup asked.

"Sure. He's got some pretty tough ones that are real difficult to find." Brock said.

"Like I said animals no matter what universe seem to like my kind for some reason." Sean said.

"Maybe they just like you because your actually likable...And not a moron like someone I used to know." Misty said glaring at Ash who flinched making him chuckle in amusement.

"What did I do now?" Ash asked.

"Dude." Sean said rubbing his face.

Thats when the doors opened up again.

"Blimey. You need a bigger door."

Sean looked seeing a large man squeeze through.

"Whoa!" Max yelled.

"Hagrid?" Sean asked.

"Hello Sean." Hagrid said smiling.

"You being here only means one thing. He's ready?" Sean asked

"Who?" Hiccup asked.

"An 11 year old boy who's more famous than most wizards these days." Sean said as the two left with Hagrid struggling for a second making Sean sigh before pressing a button making it grow bigger so he could get through before inputing some programing. "Don't usually have people as big as you." Sean said.

"I figured as much." Hagrid said.
