Chapter 24 The Dark Hand
Sean sighed as he was in San Fransisco.
After the whole incident with Simon Williams becoming a villain for jumping the gun about why Tony bought his company and suspending Hank from the Legion since he was constantly trying to make people see his way of things he decided to take a small break.
Entering Uncle's shop he found the old man.
"Kruger. Come give Uncle a hug." Uncle said.
"Yeah like I'm gonna fall for that old gag." Sean said making him chuckle.
"What brings you to San Francisco?" Uncle asked.
"I needed a break after I suspended Hank Pym. That guy is getting on everyone's nerves about everyone can be saved crap." Sean said making him scoff.
"Uncle knows for fact not everyone is so easy to change for better. Bargaining may help but it doesn't change their nature." Uncle said.
"Thats what everyone keeps trying to say. He just won't fucking listen." Sean said.
Thats when he spotted a girl a year younger than him.
"Oh hello. Who's this?" Sean asked.
"This is Jade. Jackie's niece." Uncle said.
"I didn't know he had a niece." Sean said.
"Did you know all your relatives?" Jade asked.
"Pretty much. So whats the deal? Get in trouble back home?" Sean asked.
"Jade is doing poorly in school. Her parents think she will do better in America and since he's a founding member of the Legion." Uncle said.
"So are you but you guys aren't really involved that much. You with Magic and him with Archeology." Sean said.
"True. Still they believe she will do better here." Uncle said.
"I see. Welp. I'll help her get settled in." Sean said grabbing her luggage easily which surprised her since it was heavy for her as they went upstairs.
"So whats really the problem?" Sean asked making her sigh.
"I'm not lady like is the problem." Jade said.
"HA! Tomboy? I kinda figured as much. Everyone is good as they are in my view." Sean said making her smile.
"Thanks." Jade said.
Thats when Jackie came in.
"Uncle?" Jackie asked before he finger whacked him.
"You did not make Coffer this morning. Coffee is the only thing keeping Uncle's ancient heart beating. You want Dead Uncle? No? Then you make Coffee." Uncle said making Sean chuckle while Jade giggled.
"Ok." Jackie said.
"One more thing. You receive phone call from University they want you to translate parchments." Uncle said.
"Ok." Jackie said.
"One more thing. I cannot read these inscriptions on this shield you brought back." Uncle said looking at it. "Very old writing. I must go in back. Look at my journals." Uncle said.
"Ok." Jackie said.
"One More thing." Uncle said.
"Uncle! Your doing it again." Sean said amused making Jade giggle as they came down.
"When you are my age in Immortal years you will understand. This is Jade your niece. She will live with you for a year." Uncle said.
"I have a niece?" Jackie asked.
"Apparently her folks want her to act more lady like. She's kinda like Korra. A tomboy." Sean said making her giggle.
"But nobody asked me." Jackie said making Sean chuckle.
"You seriously think Uncle would ask you." Sean asked amused making Jade giggle.
While Jackie went to unpack thats when three men walked in.
"Hello. Can I help you?" Sean asked.
"We're looking for Jackie Chan. The Archeologist."
"He just went upstairs. Can I help ya?" Sean asked.
"We're aware he recently brought back a shield from an old castle. Our wealthy employer is interested in purchasing that Shield."
Sean raised an eyebrow at that.
"Well, I can't speak for him since he's the one who found it but I can say I can give him your message. Do you have a card I can give him to call?" Sean asked.
"Sure." he said handing him one before they left.
"Did they buy anything?" Uncle asked.
"No. They wanted the Shield. Which makes me suspicious." Sean said as Jackie came down.
"Why would they want the Shield?" Jackie asked.
"Don't know but they left you a card." Sean said handing it to him.
"Watch the girl and hide the shield." Jackie said leaving to follow them while Sean went after him.
"Where am I going to hide a big shield? Where did I put it?" Uncle asked not noticing Jade left.
Sean was jumping from building to building watching Jackie follow them.
When he jumped on a drain pipe however though he fell onto them.
"Oh brother." Sean said amused seeing them now fighting.
Thats when they pulled out electric swords.
"Ok thats it." Sean said blasting said swords to dust shocking them as he landed in front of them making them cower and run off.
"Where did they get those?" Jackie asked.
"Hmm." Sean said before seeing Jade which surprised Jackie.
"Wow." Jade said.
"Jade?" Jackie asked before he and Sean were sprayed with knock out gas but only Jackie fell over as Sean looked seeing a bald headed man.
"Who the hell are you?" Sean asked as Jade got in front of him with her fists out.
Later
Jackie soon started coming too seeing he was in a room.
"He's waking up." Sean said as the same man walked in.
"Augustus Black?" Jackie asked seeing his old friend.
"Been a long time Jackie." Black said.
"I never figured you knew people in high places like this." Sean said.
"Huh?" Jackie asked as they went outside seeing it was a base.
"I thought you were with Interpol? This seems more advanced." Jackie said.
"It is. This is Section 13. An International crime solving unit." Black said.
"So why come to him?" Sean asked.
"We're aware he recently acquired a shield from a castle." Black said.
"How does everyone know this?" Jackie asked.
"You're the second person who asked about that. What is this about?" Sean asked.
"Recently we've noticed a high level criminal syndicate has been going after ancient artifacts. They're called the Dark Hand." Black said showing their lead. "Their leader is Valmont." Black said.
"Hmm." Sean said before seeing Jade looking at it all as he walked to her.
"Wow." Jade said.
"Exciting isn't it?" Sean asked.
"Very. So does this mean I can be an agent?" Jade asked.
"Not my call." Sean said before his phone rang. "Yeah?" Sean asked.
"Sean. Where are you?" Uncle asked.
"With an old friend of Jackie's apparently. Did you find out anything about that Shield?" Sean asked.
"Getting to that. I have translated the inscriptions. They are incantations." Uncle said.
"You mean like to a spell?" Sean asked.
"Yes. But the Shield is not important." Uncle said.
"Hmm? If the shield isn't important what is?" Sean asked.
"It's...Aahh!" Uncle cried out.
"Uncle?" Sean asked.
"The old man is fine."
"Who the hell is this?" Sean asked.
"That is not important. You will bring the shield or we'll send the old man back in pieces."
Sean growled as he listened closely to where he was supposed to go.
"Wanna have another adventure?" Sean asked Jade making her grin.
Later
"Damn." Sean said seeing the shop trashed.
"So what is this about?" Jade asked.
"They want the Shield but for some reason Uncle says it's not important. Which makes me believe the Shield might be holding something inside." Sean said.
"So where is it?" Jade asked.
Sean had his eyes scan the room before finding it under a pile of books.
"Hmm. Now then." Sean said as they left.
Later
After arriving at a tall building they found Uncle with a large man who was clearly Japanese.
"Who are you?" Sean asked.
"Tohru. The Shield." Tohru said.
"First what is this about? Theres nothing that valuable about this shield other than being made of gold." Sean said.
"That is not your concern." Tohru said.
"All right...CATCH!" Sean yelled throwing it making it fly over him before back to him. "Huh. So this is how Steve does it." Sean said amused.
"FOOL! Say Sayonara to your uncle!" Tohru yelled.
"First of all we're not related. Second of all what Uncle?" Sean asked making him look and gasped seeing he was gone before seeing him with Jade running away to the stairs making her stick her tongue out making him growl.
"See ya." Sean said about to run off.
Only for Ninjas to actually appear with red eyes.
"What the?" Sean asked before they attacked him making his armor appear before he started blasting them back.
While this was going on Tohru was using the Elevator to get to Jade and Uncle.
Sean continued to blast the ninjas but they just kept coming.
"Where have I seen these before?" Sean asked before seeing them down below.
"Catch!" Sean yelled throwing it to them as Jade caught it.
"Cool." Jade said before Tohru was right in front of them.
"The Shield." Tohru said making her give it to him.
Sean growled annoyed as he left while the Ninja also vanished.
Jumping down to them his armor vanished.
"The fuck do they want that shield for? And why is it not what they really want?" Sean asked.
"Shield is not important. It was what was in Shield that was." Uncle said.
"You mean this?" Jade asked holding out some talisman with a roster in it.
"Oh. So this is what they were after. Why does this look familiar?" Sean asked.
"This is a sign of the Chinese Zodiac. There are 11 more where that came from." Uncle said.
"Ok but whats the big deal? What does this thing do?" Sean asked.
"What it has magic?" Jade asked.
"You'd be surprised the kind of things your original universe had before the Merge. I've seen things most would never believe." Sean said as Jackie and Black arrived.
"What happened?" Jackie asked before getting finger whacked.
"You leave your niece to do the Job for you?" Uncle asked making Jade giggle.
Later
The four were soon in a Chinese restaurant.
"Chinese food? I just came from Hong Kong." Jade said.
"Try the American version." Sean said.
"So there are twelve of these talismans?" Jackie asked holding the one they had.
"Sure. But theres something very familiar about this one. I've never seen others like it but I'm sure I've heard of them." Sean said.
"In legends it says they were scattered to the four corners of the globe. One alone gives you specific power from that Talisman. Have all twelve however though and you could be invincible." Uncle said.
"Invincible huh?" Jade asked smiling.
"Don't even think about it." Sean said.
"So what are the other animals?" Jade asked.
"Lets see. We have the Rooster. Then theres the Tiger, Sheep, Ox, Monkey, Dragon, Pig, Dog, Rat, Horse, Rabbit and Snake. Each one holds a power particular to that animal." Sean said.
Thats when the Three thugs walked in.
"Kruger. Wheres the Talisman?" Finn asked.
"Go fuck yourselves." Sean said as their food arrived.
Only for Ratso to grab him making him sigh.
"Jade cover your eyes this is gonna get ugly." Sean said as he started beating them making them yell before Finn accidentally hit a spoon where the Talisman was before it flew into Jade's food.
"Whoa." Jade said as they ran off in fear.
"Idiots." Sean said sitting back down as they started eating with Jade slurping her food down.
"Don't eat like a baboon. You should chew your food." Jackie said.
"Hello? Chew Soup." Jade said slurping it all down.
"Help me out here." Jackie said.
"Don't look at us." Sean said.
Soon enough they were leaving.
"Wait wheres the Talisman?" Sean asked.
"I thought you had it." Jackie said.
"Whoa!" Jade yelled as she started floating.
"Jade." Sean said annoyed.
"What? I don't have it." Jade said.
Sean frowned as he scanned her before scoffing.
"You do...Next time chew your food." Sean said.
"Huh?...Oh." Jade said in realization as he pulled her down as she groaned holding her stomach.
"How could you not notice you swallowed a gulf ball?" Jackie asked.
"Hold still." Sean said getting behind her.
"What are you doing?" Jade asked.
"What do you think? It's either this...Or comes out the other way." Sean said making her groan.
Later
"So have we learned a lesson?" Sean asked amused.
"Yeah...Chew my food." Jade groaned.
Sean looked at the freshly cleaned talisman before smirking.
"Now I remember these things. These Talismans belong to an old friend." Sean said.
"Who?" Jade asked.
"A demon Sorcerer. Shendu." Sean siad.
Meanwhile
"You still haven't gotten my Talisman?" Shendu asked in his stone statue prison annoyed.
"Hey it wasn't our fault. That Kruger kid..." Finn said.
"Kruger? Sean Joesph Ashburn Kruger?" Shendu asked.
"Yeah?" Chow asked.
"You know him?" Valmont asked.
"I do indeed. I taught him about the history of our universe before the Merge. I even told him about the Talismans. And now he's no doubt aware of what they are and he'll be looking for them." Shendu said.
"It could work to our advantage. Why settle for finding them ourselves when we could let them do all the work?" Valmont asked grinning.
"Do not underestimate the Immortals. Kruger may be young but he's still powerful enough to give most a challenge. And as time moves forward more abilities will surface as well." Shendu said.
Meanwhile
"AIYA! You know Demon Sorcerer!?" Uncle asked trying to finger whack him but he kept dodging before jumping on a bookshelf as Jade was laughing her ass off.
"Oh come on. I told you before I learned from a lot of people. Demons included. Best to get a good perspective from not just good people but bad as well." Sean said.
"Hmm. In that view Uncle understands." Uncle said as he jumped down.
"So this Shendu guy what does he want?" Jade asked.
"He wants to be set free from his stone statue prison that his subjects imprisoned him in 900 years ago." Sean said.
"Yikes." Jade said.
"Believe it or not but Demon sorcerers once used to rule your universe long ago. And Shendu is one of eight demon sorcerers. Each one from a different element. Shendu being one of fire. The others were of Water, Earth, Sky, Wind, Moon, Thunder and Mountain." Sean said.
"Hotcha. Uncle remembers this story. They were all defeated by the eight immortals. Legendery heroes of Ancient China. All eight were banished to the Demon Neither realm." Uncle said.
"So how did Shendu escape it?" Jade asked.
"It's complicated." Sean said.
"But once Shendu was imprisoned within himself his talismans were scattered." Uncle said.
"So why does the Darkhand want them?" Jackie asked.
"They don't. He does. He gets all 12 during the Chinese new Year...He'll be able to raise his old palace and raise an army of Dragons to destroy all of Asia as payback for what their ancestors did to him centuries ago." Sean said.
"Finding them before he does is most important." Uncle said.
"But you just said all 12 were scattered. How are we supposed to find them?" Jade asked.
"Research." Uncle said.
"I know some people who can help track them. Odds are most of them won't be in the places they were sent to after all these years. But some of them will be." Sean said.
"And when we get all 12...What do we do with them?" Jackie asked.
"Hmm. Well, some of them could be useful in the field." Sean said.

I am working on a Jackie Chan Adventures Legend of Korra crossover but it's on hold for now till I finish Avatar of Justice which hopefully is soon. Now Next Chapter involves another series I love.
