Chapter 2 10 years later
It has been 10 years since the Mutant Children had escaped from Luthor's labs and killed General Hardcastle before retreating to the Forest to begin a new life.
However Humanity had not been so lucky in these 10 years.
The Virus that Luthor had unintentionally created spread across the world like wildfire. After the first week hundreds of thousands were killed then millions.
The world had come together to try and contain this disease that was traced back to Luthor who was placed in prison for the rest of his days much to his anger.
Even then it wasn't enough. The virus was easily transferred to person to person. Nothing worked period. Only 1 in 500 were immune from the disease and then came the other problems. With the Death toll so high certain people that kept the world going were dead and unable to provide the essentials people needed to live such as power and light. Riots took place all over the world and the Death toll went even higher.
Nuclear power Plants collapsed. Energy projects that kept the power going were gone. The Human race was facing the end of a technological era. The Era of science and order had collapsed into nothing.
And the Human Race? On the verge of extinction from a single virus that could not be cured or contained.
And the Mutants?
They thrived.
Outside Metropolis
Sean Ashburn Kruger. Leader of the Mutants and the Unstoppable Juggernaut had grown into a powerful man in the last 10 years.
With the help of his fellow Mutants they had created a home using their powers. In time they managed to create and provide all the essential needs they could ever need to survive.
Currently Sean was with a group looking at a large rock before it was suddenly turned to a glowing crystal.
"Ok that should do." Sean said before picking it up.
"Need a hand big brother?"
Sean chuckled looking at his adoptive younger brother Turok who was the younger brother of the only Mutant who was killed 10 years ago. Turok had Tan skin Brown hair and blue eyes dressed in blue jeans Black boots and a trench coat.
"Please. I'm the Juggernaut. I don't need help." Sean said as they walked back to the compound.
"So what is this thing again?" Turok asked.
"Julia turns large rocks into these crystals that provide energy to power up the compound. We need a new one every 3 years or so depending on the size. This should last for five years or so." Sean said as they made it back seeing the other Mutants who were doing their own thing and with new Mutant Children with various abilities.
"Hard to imagine this was made in less then a year." Turok said.
"Hmm. Humanity was a lot of things but they sure were inventive. And we took that concept and made it work here even better." Sean said beofre walking to the center where Hank or as he called himself Beast was waiting.
"Ah good. This one should last us even longer." Beast said as Sean sat it down.
"How's the expansion going?" Sean asked.
"So far so good. Another few days and we'll have enough to expand the crop fields." Beast said before Sean walked away before spotting his lover Anna Marie or as she called herself, Rogue.
"Hey Honey." Rogue said kissing him making him smile.
Rogue had the ability to absorb anyones powers and memories for a short time depending on how long she touched them. Beast however created a device that suppressed her Mutant Power when active.
"Hey Rogue." Sean said as they went inside.
Sitting on the balcony Sean looked at the forest before Turok walked in.
"I know that look." Turok said sitting down.
"Hmm." Sean said.
"Thinking about the Humans?" Turok asked.
"I think about them every now and then. I keep asking myself how their society went down hill so damn fast." Sean said not knowing about the Virus.
"I don't. My guess is they just collapsed. Not surprising when people like Luthor are in charge." Turok said before leaving just as Beast walked in.
"He's not wrong on that you know." Beast said.
"Ah. It can't be that simple. Doesn't matter anyway. Their all gone. Last year Quicksilver and the others searched what was left of Metropolis and didn't find anyone. Gotham, Central city, Star City, Metro City, Washington. Their all gone." Sean said.
"Or so we think." Beast said.
Turok was heading out when Sabertooth placed his arm around him.
"Come on kid we got some hunting to do." Sabertooth said.
"Yeah, yeah." Turok said before turning into a wolf before rushing off with him right behind.
Arriving at their usual hunting spot Turok turned human again.
"Thats weird." Turok said seeing nothing. "They're usually right here." Turok said as Sabertooth landed behind him.
"Ah. Stupid bears must have come and scared them off." Sabertooth said.
"No." Turok said sniffing the air. "Bears haven't been in the area for weeks. But something definitely came through here." Turok said before turning into a wolf again before running off before Sabertooth went up to the trees.
Turok sniffed the ground before he heard footsteps making him come out before came face to face with something he wasn't expecting. A human named Bullock who frowned at him.
"Oh great another dumb animal." Bullock said before Turok morphed into his true form making him widen his eyes. "Oh god. Your one of them. A mutant." Bullock said before pulling out his gun.
"Whoa, whoa. The hell?" Turok asked.
"It's time for payback for what you freaks did to us." Bullock said before Sabertooth jumped down and Bullock accidentally fired his gun.
Sean widened his eyes at this sound before growling as he put on his helmet before rushing outside.
Bullock cowered as Sabertooth took his gun before crushing it.
"You ok Kid?" Sabertooth asked.
"Yeah. The hell is his problem?" Turok asked before More Humans rushed out. One of Which was Bruce Wayne.
"Bullock." Bruce said.
"Don't just stand there! Their Mutants! Kill them!" Bullock yelled.
"Oh great a racist." Turok said before the ground began to shake.
"Uh oh." Sabertooth said before Sean ran to them making Bullock gulp at his size before he was in front of the two.
"Humans." Sean said glaring at them before eying the gun Bullock tried use on his brother.
"We don't want any trouble. Bullock has a tendency to do stupid things." Dick Grayson said.
"STUPID! Their Mutants! They ruined everything!" Bullock yelled making Sean growl at him before looking at the group. He noticed one who looked to be at least 8 years old. That was Damian Wayne Bruce and Talia's son. (Bullock would do something like this in Batman animated series)
"Easy now." Barbra Gordon said trying to calm him down before Sean stepped on what was left of the gun crushing it loudly.
"GO!" Sean roared making them back up before Damian slipped and dropped his bag.
"Lets go." Bruce said grabbing him before they rushed off.
Sean growled before grabbing the bag.
"Creed." Sean said.
"What?" Sabertooth asked.
"Follow them." Sean said getting him to do so.
"The hell was that all about?" Turok asked.
"I don't know. But I get the feeling Metropolis isn't as abandoned as we thought." Sean said.
Sabertooth followed Bruce and the others back to the City before they came to a checkpoint and at that Checkpoint was James Gordon.
"Did you find it?" Gordan asked.
"Uh...We need to talk." Bruce said.
"What is it?" Gordon asked.
"The dam is completely intact save for some trees blocking it. But thats not the problem. Get in." Bruce said getting him inside before driving back to the city where Sabertooth followed them.
"Whats going on?" Gordon asked.
"Um dad? The Mutants are there." Barbara said.
"Wait what? I thought they left Metropolis." Gordon said.
"No they just went into the forest. And Bullock tried to shot one. A teenager most likely one of the originals." Bruce said.
"Why are you defending those freaks! They caused the virus to infect the whole world!" Bullock said.
"They had nothing to do with it. One of Luthor's scientists got exposed to all the drugs in one go instead of separately in certain order. That caused the Virus." Barbara said.
"She's right. Besides they didn't exactly have a say on the matter in being test subjects or living weapons when Luthor tried to sell them to Hardcastle." Bruce said.
"How many were there?" Gordon asked.
"At least three. We saw two at first then a big one showed up most likely the leader." Dick said.
"I think that was the Juggernaut." Bruce said.
"The Unstoppable Juggernaut? Last time anyone saw him was when Hardcastle was killed." Gordon said. After learning what the Former General did the whole case to track down the Mutants was thrown out seeing who was the real villain in the whole thing.
"Maybe you're not paying attention! Those freaks carry the virus!" Bullock said.
"No, they don't. And besides it doesn't matter anyway we're all genetically Immune or we would have died a long time ago." Dick said.
"Not a word of this back at Metropolis. I don't want to create a panic. Especially you Bullock." Gordon said making him growl before they arrived at the center of the City were thousands of humans that remained were at.
"I need to talk to Clark and the others." Bruce said leaving to inform the others in the Justice League. After the Virus started taking large numbers the heroes of the world showed their identities seeing there wasn't a point anymore in hiding who they really were. Even former Villains changed their ways to insure the Human race would survive minus those like Joker. Hell even Harley left him seeing just how bad things got.
Walking back into a building Bruce saw several members of what was known as the Justice League. Originally formed to help the world keep order after the Virus started taking so many lived. They tried to keep the people calm but nothing was working. Then last year they found everyone they could in the country and brought them to Metropolis to start over.
"So what happened? Is the Dam in bad shape?" Lantern asked. (Just so everyone doesn't get the wrong idea There are no Arrowverse characters other then Lena. There will be some Teen Titan and some Young Justice Characters sure but it's mostly pure JLU Characters and other DC characters)
"No, its fine thats not the problem though. The problem is there was an unexpected group up there." Bruce said.
"Meaning what?" Superman asked.
"The Mutants are up there." Batman said shocking them.
"Oh shit." Lantern said.
"You mean the kids Luthor kidnaped 10 years ago." Wonder Woman said.
"Yes. They must have a home close by the dam. Bullock tried to kill two of them before we showed up." Bruce said.
"Whats his deal? He didn't lose anything from the Virus. And they didn't even start it." Powergirl said.
"No, but he thinks they are responsible in his mind. After all the Virus didn't start spreading till AFTER they escaped." Bruce said.
"True. Still these kids had nothing to do with it." Superman said.
"We need that power to reach out to the rest of the world. We're running low on Fuel. We're at least 2 weeks away from running out and things may slip back to the way things were before coming here." Hawkgirl said.
"Three tops." Lantern said.
"So lets just go back and explain the problem. I mean the big guy can't be that mad at us." Flash said.
"Bullock tried to shoot a teenager. You really think he's in a good mood?" Bruce asked.
"Oh...Point taken." Flash said.
"Flash isn't wrong. Perhaps if we explained the situation this Juggernaut might listen." The Martian Manhunter said.
"I agree with Uncle J'onn. We should at least try." Miss Martian said.
"Easier said then done." Bruce said.
Sabertooth watched from a distance before snarling as he left.
Later
"Theres gotta be thousands there." Sabertooth said as the Strongest of Mutants were gathered to talk about this while Beast was looking through a sketch book Damian left behind.
"I searched Metropolis twice and they weren't there before." Quicksilver said.
"Maybe not till now." David said.
"Whats the big deal? It's not like they're a threat to us. Sabertooth said it himself the city was in ruins and barley any defenses." Turok said.
"Thats not the issue. The Issue is they came up here looking for something. Probably us." Scarlet Witch said.
"Easy Wanda." Sean said calming her down.
"I say we go in and take them out before they attack us. You saw how that Bullock guy acted towards us." Sabertooth said.
"But the others were calm and trying to smooth the situation out." Beast said.
"He almost shot your brother." Sabertooth said to David who nods.
"True. I don't trust most humans but not all are bad just some." David said.
Everyone was arguing loudly while Beast showed a picture of Damian's Mother Talia in his book probably meaning she was dead making Sean sigh.
"QUIET!" Sean yelled getting everyone to shut up. "Look...I get it. No one here has forgotten what happened at the labs. What they did to us. Made us into what we are today. We can never forget. But not every Human is like that. There are good Humans Like Lena Luthor who treated those in her lab with kindness and humility. Others were in other labs were not as fortunate." Sean said.
"So what do we do? We still don't know why they came up here." Cyclops said.
"No we don't. They could have just been looking for supplies in that old gas station." Sean said.
"I still say we should attack." Sabertooth said.
"We're not gonna attack them like that since no one was actually hurt. Only one tried to attack unprovoked for some reason. The others as Beast said tried to avoid fighting. Either he was a supporter of General Hardcastle or something else is up." Sean said.
"But we can't just do nothing." David said.
"No...We can't...And won't." Sean said. "We simply give them a warning and tell them not to comeback. Last thing they want is to start a war when their numbers are down so low." Sean said.
Authors Note: I'm gonna leave it at here just to tease everyone and add to the Suspense. To My Loyal guest regarding your review on Rider of the League your starting to get on my nerves.
