Chapter 4 A new beginning
It's been about a month since the Dam came back online and powered Metropolis and since the Mutants and Humans began to peacefully Coexist.
Since then the Human race started to get back on their feet in rebuilding what they lost.
Of course there was the one problem for them.
"Jim you gotta let me outta here!" Bullock yelled.
"And what are you gonna do if I do let you out?" Gordon asked.
"Kill those Mutant freaks for starters. Why can't you see they're the ones who caused the virus?" Bullock asked.
"Because I can accept hard evidence. The Virus was out BEFORE they escaped. One of Luthor's scientists who experimented on those kids was exposed to it days before they escaped. They had nothing to do with what happened. It was just mere timing. Nothing more." Gordon said.
"You can't seriously believe that nonsense! It happened after they escaped! Nothing happens by chance! They did it! We gotta go in and take them out before they take us out!" Bullock yelled making him sigh before someone walked in. A woman with long Red hair green eyes and white skin.
"Ah Jean, I've been expecting you." Gordon said.
"Another Mutant Freak!" Bullock yelled before he started floating in the air. "WAH! PUT ME DOWN!" Bullock yelled.
"Ok." Jean said dropping him making him crash down hard making him glare. "Anyway the next batch of supplies are here." Jean said.
"Tell Kruger I said thanks for helping us get back on our feet." Gordon said.
"Your accepting their help! You're not fit to be in charge anymore!" Bullock yelled.
"You'll have to excuse Bullock. He's not very accepting as the others." Gordon said.
"No...Thats not it." Jean said placing a hand on her head.
"What are you...ARGH!" Bullock yelled holding his head in pain.
"What are you doing?" Gordon asked concerned.
"Looking into his memories. It's one of my gifts." Jean said looking before she stopped and glared at him. "Thats why you want to kill us. It's not only because you hate us. You're trying to cover your tracks." Jean said making him widen his eyes in fear.
"His tracks?" Gordon asked.
"He was working for Luthor back in the day. He helped kidnap some of us off the streets for money." Jean said making him frown.
"Bullock." Gordon said.
"Look it's not what you think. I didn't have a choice." Bullock said.
"Oh yes you did. You weren't in some debt or anything. You just wanted the money for more food." Jean said.
"DON'T LISTEN TO HER JIM!" Bullock yelled in fear.
"I'm afraid I'm gonna have to tell the League about this. They'll decide if you should stay here...Or if the Mutants should have you." Gordon said.
"JIM! JIM!" Bullock yelled as they left.
Later
"So Bullock helped kidnap these children for money?" Batman asked Gordon as the League was assembled.
"Thats what Jean says. I have no reason to doubt her. It makes sense now why he was so hostile towards them. He was afraid some would recognize him and call him out so he wanted to convince us they were a threat and kill them all." Gordon said.
"We don't have a choice then. We gotta hand him over to the Mutants. This will make our alliance even smother by handing one of the people responsible for what happened to them." Lantern said.
"They'll kill him though." Hawkgirl said.
"He's done absolutely nothing to help this colony but eat and drink. I say we let him go and let them deal with him." Ivy said.
"I agree as well." Bane said. (Last Chapter I made a mistake and put Bane as one of the remaining villains when I meant to put Joker in and I fixed that.)
"Then we're all in agreement. Flash, tell the Juggernaut to come here and pick him up. He'll want to be here personally." Superman said.
"Right away." Flash said dashing off.
"Honestly I hate giving Bullock to the wolves but he brought this on himself." Gordon said.
Later
"LET ME OUT! LET ME OUT!" Bullock yelled as he was something of a bird cage at the entrance of the colony.
Inside everyone watched waiting for Juggernaut to take him.
Of course some people started throwing things at him once his crimes were made public.
"MONSTER!" A woman yelled throwing a beer bottle at him.
"AHH! I HOPE ONE OF THOSE FREAKS WERE YOU'RE KIDS! CAUSE THEN I'M GONNA KILL THEM!" Bullock yelled before a shadow appeared over him making him look and gasped seeing Juggernaut who snarled at him before picking his cage up.
"Thanks for the gift. We'll enjoy this greatly." Juggernaut said taking him away.
"JIM! JIIIIIIM! HELP ME!" Bullock yelled as they vanished.
"So long asshole." Barbara said.
Later
Bullock screamed in pain as he David used his power of metal to grab hold of him and started bending his arms and legs in painful positions.
"I am gonna enjoy this." David said.
"YOU MUTANTS BASTARD! WHEN I GET OUTTA HERE I'M GONNA KILL ALL OF YOU!" Bullock yelled.
"Like you tried to do to Chameleon?" Turok asked.
"I don't care if your women and children! I'll kill all of you!" Bullock yelled before screaming in pain as the metal went inside his body making him scream in agonizing pain.
"Enough." Sean said stopping him making Bullock breathe hard. "Killing him on the first day would be a release from his crimes. We intend to make him suffer for as long as possible. Just as we did." Sean said as they left before the cell closed up.
Sean walked to the edge of the compound seeing Metropolis that had become a small percentage of what it once was.
Relations between the Mutants and the Humans had smoothed out greatly since the Dam was restored.
However both parties continued to search for Mister Sinister and Azazel. (To my loyal guest I'm surprised you don't know who Azazel is. He's Kurt's father and he was in X men First class)
"Still no sign of them?" Sean asked Sabertooth.
"Nothing. Those two are either outside Metropolis or left the area completely." Sabertooth said.
"Ahh. It doesn't matter I suppose. Even those two could never take this compound with just them." Sean said.
Meanwhile
"Now the relations between us the Mutants has completely stabilized we can begin to rebuild Metropolis to what it once was." Batman said.
"Thats gonna take a while. Theres not that many people here that know construction." Cyborg said.
"Perhaps but if we can convince the Mutants to help us it will further strengthen our relationship." J'onn said.
"We've already asked a lot from them and they've given us food and supplies as a hand of friendship. Ask more from them and it could make things difficult. We don't want to look like we're taking advantage of them." Diana said.
"I agree. We'll just have to use who we can." Hawkgirl said.
"It'll take years before we can rebuild Metropolis to the way it was before the Virus. I still can't believe Luthor survived it." Lantern said.
"He always has a habit of surviving things like this." Superman said not pleased.
Currently Luthor was in the lower cells since no one trusted him to help rebuild since he caused all this in the first place trying to create living weapons. And even more so the Military was disgusted by both his actions and Hardcastle's that every dirty detail they had done was released to the public which not only made Luthor out to be Public enemy number 1 but also forever destroyed Hardcastle's legacy in the pages of history.
"Like it or not he's alive unlike his sister." Supergirl said.
"We're just gonna have to use who we got and hope it's enough." Batman said.
Meanwhile
Sean walked in the lower parts of the compound before an eye scanner activated before scanning his eye.
"Welcome Juggernaut." A computer said before opening a door before he walked inside.
Inside the room was a black jet that could fit a large number of people.
"I haven't seen you down here in years." Rogue said walking in before holding his hand before he began to shrink to a regular sized human. (You didn't think he would just stay the size of the Juggernaut for everything did you? Kinda makes it hard for sex)
"Hmm. I often still wonder what might have happened if we had intervened with the downfall of the Human civilization. Could we have found a cure now that we know it was caused by a virus? Could we have built a better society for them and ourselves?" Sean asked before she kissed him.
"We can't know now. But things are really good between us and them now. Maybe things were just meant to happen to where they are now." Rogue said making him nod.
"Perhaps. I still can't help but wonder if I had finished the X men project if we could have helped. But it doesn't matter now." Sean said as they left.
Meanwhile
Mister Sinister and Azazel were outside of Metropolis ready to strike.
"What are we waiting for?" Azazel asked.
"Patience my friend. The two of us alone cannot hope to defeat both Juggernaut and the remains of the Human race. Hence...Why we have a new ally." Mister Sinister said before someone stood behind them. Kalibak. Darkseid's son.
"So you claim you can help my father take the earth for himself?" Kalibak asked.
"Indeed I can. There lies what is left of the human race. It would be easy to conquer them." Mister Sinister said.
"My father is not interested in conquering a planet that cannot fight back. To him it's pointless and a waste of resources." Kalibak said glaring at them.
"Then how bout a planet that could...Make his conquest far easier." Mister Sinister said gaining his attention.
"Go on." Kalibak said.
"As it happens Humans can transform into Metahumans with very unique abilities when exposed to certain elements like Dark Matter...And theres another kind of powered race on Earth. Mutants. People like myself and Azazel." Sinister said.
"So you claim your kind can tip the scales in my father's favor against anyone?" Kalibak asked.
"Indeed. All I want in return...Is for the Human side to suffer for the all the years we had suffered under their thumb because of Lex Luthor." Sinister said.
"Hmm. Very well...I suppose my father will support your cause." Kalibak said making him grin.
Meanwhile
Sean and the others were going over everything that had happened lately.
"Our alliance with the humans has greatly smoothed things out. And in good faith offered us Bullock who not only tried to start a war between us but is responsible for making us into Lab rats." Sean said.
"HMPH! I should have known there was something off about him. His fear of us figuring out what he did made him violent trying to cover his tracks." Wanda said.
"Too bad Sinister and Azazel went rogue because they can't let go of the past." Turok said.
"Not everyone is so willing to forget the harsh treatment we endured in the labs. You were too young to understand at the time." Beast said.
"But now because of those experiments we have the power to bring a new age of peace and unity. Granted some of us are still learning to control all of our powers and abilities but in time we will and..." Sean tried to say before they all felt the ground shake.
"Was that an Earthquake?" Toad asked.
"No...That didn't come from the ground. That was close by." Lance said getting everyone to rush out seeing Metropolis under attack by advanced weapons and ships.
"I didn't realize that Earth was targeted by other worlds." Beast said.
"If I recall correctly Superman once said during the crisis a monster known as Darkseid tried to claim the Earth for his own but never attacked after the first time they met." Sean said recalling various conversations the two had.
"So these forces are Darkseid's army." David said.
"What do we do? We can't just sit here." Turok said making Sean frown.
Meanwhile
Superman groaned as he was under Darkseid's foot as the colony was in ruins but thankfully there were no casualties.
"You should be thankful Kal-El. That I not slaughter what possibly remains of your adoptive homeworld. However...One of your own made a bargain." Darkseid said as Mister Sinister and Azazel appeared who grinned.
"You two? What have you done?" Superman asked.
"All we asked is to remove of what possibly remains of the Human race. This planet now belongs to Mutants." Sinister said.
"I get your angry because of Luthor did to you. But your taking this too far! None of these people did anything to you directly." Superman said trying to get Darkseid off him.
"Maybe not. But Humans have been the cause of all suffering on this planet. We Mutants will take control. First Darkseid will experiment on the people that remain...Very painfully I might add." Sinister said grinning. "Then the Mutants will take control and restore this world to restore it to its former glory long before mankind." Sinister said.
(Insert x Men 1992 Theme song)
Suddenly the black jet from the Mutant Compound flew over them before someone dropped down.
Juggernaut in his large form glared at Darkseid.
"What are you doing! This is our chance to claim the Earth for ourselves!" Sinister yelled.
"Your no better than Luthor." Juggernaut said making him widen his eyes before growling. "Your Darkseid right?" Juggernaut asked.
"I am." Darkseid said.
"Leave...Now." Juggernaut said making him smirk before Juggernaut dashed right at him and delivered a powerful uppercut that sent him flying into another building shocking his troops.
"Let me show what the X men are capable of." Juggernaut said as Multiple Mutants jumped down.
Sabertooth roared slashing through dozens of Darkseid's men with ease.
Beast charged in before taking out as many as he could.
Darkseid came down and glared at Juggernaut and fired his Omega Beam at him but he grabbed one of Parademons and used it as a shield.
"You are very powerful. Perhaps more powerful than Superman." Darkseid said before they charged at each other.
Gambit used his staff to fight off the Parademons before pulling out a deck a cards.
"Pick a card my friends." Gambit said as they glowed before he threw them at them and they exploded knocking them back. "I do so love that move." Gambit said.
Flash and Quicksilver were circling a group of troops before they created a twister sending them into the air making them yell.
"So long." Flash said.
"And Goodbye." Quicksilver said.
Hawkgirl roared as she smashed her mace into dozens of Parademons but got surrounded before someone else with wings took them down.
"Didn't know there was a Mutant with Wings like mine." Hawkgirl said grinning.
"Call me Angel." Angel said flying away.
"Cute." Hawkgirl said before resuming her fight.
Laura roared as she slashed through dozens of Parademons with ease before Wonder Woman punched her way through.
Both Juggernaut and Darkseid was breathing hard from their fight.
"Your strength matches my own. Perhaps we could come to a compromise." Darkseid said before Azazel jumped on Juggernaut trying to stab him but it did nothing before Darkseid blasted him with his Omega beam making him scream in agonizing pain before being reduced to dust.
"A fitting end for someone no better than Luthor. I have no intention of making deals with you. Leave...And do not return." Juggernaut said before multiple Boom tubes opened before the forces of New Genesis arrived before Darkseid's son Orion showed up.
"Darkseid! High father has decreed this planet is under his protection! Any further aggression will breach the peace treaty and will be considered an act of war against New Genesis." Orion said before Sean delivered a devastating blow to Darkseid making him fall the ground hard.
Darkseid groaned in pain as his face was bleeding hard before glaring at Juggernaut.
"The Choice is yours, Darkseid." Orion said.
"You've made your point." Darkseid said as his forces pulled back. "Enjoy your victory while it Lasts...Juggernaut. It will not last." Darkseid said retreating.
(End song)
Later
"It's over. Everything we worked to rebuild is gone. It'll take even longer to rebuild what we lost." Gordon said with his head down.
"No it won't." Sean said gaining their attention. "Considering this attack. This proves Mutants and Humans need to coexist for survival. You've been trying hard to rebuild what you lost because of Luthor. But it's time to build something new. A new government and a new city. A new world." Sean said.
"It sounds promising. If we did tear down Metropolis...What would we name this new city?" Superman asked.
"I was thinking of...Genosha." Sean said.
"I like it." Turok said.
"The Compound can easily be moved here and we can tear down the city in days and work from the ground up. Build a better city. A stronger city." Sean said.
Meanwhile
Luthor was in his cell under what remains of the colony before the doors opened up.
"I assume you all finally came to your senses and decided for me to lead whats left?" Luthor asked arrogantly.
"Not even close." Sean said shocking and faced him.
"You? What are you doing here? You should be dead." Luthor said in fear.
"Hardly. My kind have survived for 10 years outside of Metropolis while the Virus you made destroyed most of humanity. Whats left will now be under my protection." Sean said.
"HA! They'll never accept a freak like you as a leader!" Lex yelled.
"And you think they would accept you after all the damage you've done and created the Virus?" Sean asked amused making him frown at that. "Everyone agreed. I'll be in charge of the new Government where Humans and Mutants live together. Oh...And by the way. Bullock also sold you out on some other crimes you committed to save his own skin." Sean said shocking him. "You'll be moved to a new cell soon enough. One thats far smaller." Sean said leaving making him roar in rage.
Meanwhile
Mister Sinister roared as he blasted rocks inside a cave.
"I can't Believe this! It was perfect! Darkseid takes Humanity away from this world and the Mutants could take control make Earth even better!" Sinister yelled in rage.
"I swear this to you Kruger I'll make you pay for interfering in my plans! You can count on it!" Sinister said.
