Chapter 24 Mindbender
Its been a couple weeks since everyone returned from Sean's trip back home and brought back some of the others with him.
Nothing major had happened other than Juri getting into some fights with the brotherhood for her own amusement much to Wanda's gratitude seeing her brother in such a mess.
Right now It was late as everyone was getting ready for bed.
Sean kissed Rogue and Jean goodnight.
"So we still up for shopping tomorrow?" Jean asked making him smirk.
"You know I usually hate shopping in general." Sean said making them giggle.
"True but these are for the babies and less for us." Rogue said.
"Oy. Yes I'm still going." Sean said making them grin before going to their rooms.
Sighing Sean entered his own room.
"Been waiting."
"Wha...WHOA!" Sean yelled as he was thrown on the bed before looking at a naked Juri who grins at him. "If you wanted my special attention you could have just asked." Sean said making her smirk.
"Wheres the fun in that?" Juri asked before she pulled off his clothes till he was as bare as she was before she jumped on him and kissed him before yelping as she was on her back making her giggle. "Are you gonna take charged handsome?" Juri questioned making him grin.
"How bout we do this tomorrow since I got some things to do and knowing how much energy you got I'll be up all night. Tomorrow for sure." Sean said making her grin.
"Promises, promises. And you always keep them." Juri said kissing him before Sean pulled the covers over them as she rested in his chest with a content smile.
Hours later
Sean still asleep with Juri in his bed was suddenly awakened by some carnival music making him turn seeing a prize Jean won at the carnival last week.
"The hell she put it in here for?" Sean asked grabbing it before a head popped out startling him before his eyes suddenly went blank.
Next morning
Juri yawned as she slowly woke up.
"Morning babe." Juri said reaching for him. "Babe?" Juri asked not seeing him making her frown. "Weird. He never leaves without waking me." Juri said getting dressed before rushing to find him.
After telling the others she couldn't find him the rest of the Students and instructors began looking for him.
Musubi was coming out of the garage just as Korra rushed out.
"All the cars are still here and so is his motorcycle." Musubi said making her frown.
Charles and Juri were in his room inspecting the place.
"What about this?" Charles asked looking at the Jack in the box.
"That? Jean won it at the carnival last week. She must have left it here." Juri said as Alex walked in.
"We've combed the whole place. All the cars are still here and so is his bike." Alex said.
"Then sometime during the night Sean simply vanished." Charles said.
"Why?" Juri asked.
"That is what we are gonna find out." Charles said.
Later
Hank was using the computer to look for any leads on where Sean might be.
Thats when Charles rolled in.
"Anything?" Charles asked as Juri and Motoko walked in.
"I've scanned everything I can on where Sean might have gone. Nothing has come up." Hank said.
"He wouldn't up and leave without telling one of us where he was going. Thats not how he works." Motoko said.
"Indeed." Charles said.
"What about the asshat Eric? He would do anything to get him to his side." Juri said.
"No. I don't think Magneto is behind this. Last time something like this happened it turned out to be Theron. No. If Magnus was involved he would come for him directly." Charles said.
"Unless he found someone to control his mind." Motoko said.
"That list is limited." Hank said pulling up those who could do it. "Everyone who has that kind of power currently known was too far away to be here last night according to joint intelligence." Hank said.
"What about Unknown?" Juri asked.
"If someone new has taken control of his mind it would have to be someone who knew he was here." Hank said.
"If thats the case we may need to increase security around here." Motoko said.
Meanwhile
Logan was showing a photo of Sean to some bus manager.
"Yeah I saw him."
"When?" Logan asked.
"About this morning. Took a bus ticket to Boston."
Logan narrowed his eyes at that.
Meanwhile
Sean in robes phased through a gate before turning invisible as he floated to some home before flying to a window and phased through it and made his way to some display showing a unique ring before it vanished and appeared within his hand before he vanished as well.
Later
"Jet is prepped and ready." Rias said.
"No point. After Sean took that ring he just vanished again." Hank said.
"Why would he steal a simple ring? Thats not his style. He never uses his power to steal." Reznov said.
"That I don't know." Hank said.
"Is there a Ring linked to it or something?" Rias asked.
"I'm looking into that now actually. If there is more than one it might explain why this is happening." Hank said.
Juri however looked away.
"Relax we'll find him." Moka said.
"It's not that. Something about all this bugs me. Sean doesn't steal. Not unless he has no choice for one of us if our lives was on the line. What if theres something we're unaware of." Juri said.
"If there is we'll find out soon enough" Moka said.
Later
Everyone was once more in the Mansion asleep hoping for some information on Sean to surface.
However at the gate a thumb was pressed against a finger scan as it glowed.
"Identity confirmed. Welcome Sean Ashburn Kruger. Security system, deactivated." The Computer said as the gate opened up before Sean walked inside.
Juri was in her room in nothing but her birthday suit frowning before the clock next to her turned to One AM making her sigh as she laid down before she saw Sean walk the halls.
"Sean?" Juri asked before rushing out not even bothering to get dressed before she was behind him as he faced her with a blank expression.
"Babe what is going...Ah." Juri moaned as she suddenly began to feel tired before Sean caught her in his arms before taking her back to her room placing her in bed before pulling the sheets over her kissing her forehead before he walked away.
Arriving in his room however he pulled open his desk drawer before a device in hand was seen before he vanished.
Juri waking up knew what happened before getting dressed and rushed to Charles room.
"Sean was here! I know it. He knocked me out and then left." Juri said.
Next morning
Juri and Motoko were looking through everything in Sean's room.
"He was in here for a reason. He took something." Motoko said.
"And I just found out what." Juri said. "His little safe cracker was what he came here for." Juri said.
"His what?" Rogue asked walking in.
"It's a device he made for a project at school he told me about. It can open any kind of safe." Juri said.
"Why would he need something like that when he can just phase through?" Jean asked.
"Because I think he's trying to be careful and not draw attention to himself. He's trying not to expose us." Charles said.
"I get it. Incase whatever he's about to steal next this way it doesn't look out of the Ordinary." Jean said.
"Yes. The Question remains as to what he's after now." Charles said.
Later
Sean arrived at New York in the Dead of night before his entire body turned invisible before walking into the bank known as the township bank.
As Sean walked in he used an EMP field to knock out surveillance incase they could see him before walking into a vault.
Placing his device on one of the safes however it quickly started working before it opened up before showing the contents and another ring before Sean took it and vanished.
Later
"Another Ring?" Jean asked.
"Yes. This one is also connected to the previous one. I'm trying to find out the full connection is. But If I had to guess theres probably a third one out there." Hank said.
"And we need to find it before he does. If we can we can intercept him and find out what this is about." Charles said.
"Hopefully soon." Juri said.
And once again everyone was in bed waiting for some news while Charles and Hank were going over the rings Sean stole.
"Anything new?" Charles asked.
"Yeah I found the connection. There are three of them. Han Dynasty, If I'm getting this right. When all three are together they form some strange key." Hank said.
"To what?" Charles asked.
"That I don't know just yet. But if Sean is doing on his own or under someone's influence we'll soon find out."
While this was going on Sean arrived back at the Mansion once again before arriving in his room again.
Charles however sensed this.
"Sean, he's here." Charles said trying to get into his mind but felt someone else was also in there making him grunt as he was blocked out.
"He's accessed the mainframe from his head. We're sealed in." Hank said trying to break the door down.
By the time he did Sean was already gone.
Later
Juri walked into Cerebro seeing Charles sketch up some man's face with markings on him.
"Is that the guy you saw in Sean's head?" Juri asked.
"Yes. Now I'm going to see if Cerebro can find us a match." Charles said.
"I can do you one quicker. I know that face." Juri said.
Both were back in Sean's room with Juri playing the Jack in the box before the Head came out.
"The Mindbending Mesmero. He was in that carnival last week with that Circus of Mystery. Jean always said she found it strange she won this prize since she couldn't remember how she won it." Juri said handing it to him.
"He gave her this with instructions to give it to Sean. But the question is how did he know about their relationship?" Charles asked.
"You think he's been spying on him?" Juri said.
"More so. I think he's been planning this for a long time. I think theres more to him than we realize." Charles said as Alex rushed in.
"Sean already stole the last ring. We need to know where he's heading now or we'll never find who's behind this." Alex said.
"I think I know. Wheres the next act set?" Juri asked Charles making him nod.
Later
Sean arrived at where Mesmero's next act would be with a bag of the Rings in hand.
Thats when the Black Jet arrived making him look up before the others dropped down.
"You know we don't stand a chance since he's got all our powers right?" Reznov asked as they rushed off.
"We just gotta stall him. No one needs to get hurt." Wolverine said as Sean's metal claws came out of his right hand before his Left turned into a giant blade before his eyes started glowing.
"Yeah...tell that to him." Revy said as Sean started blasting them with Cyclops's power making them scatter before Sean smashed his foot on the ground making a tremor before the skies lit up with lightning.
"Ok this is gonna be a real pain in the ass." Rias said annoyed before blasting him making him grunt before growling at her as he used quick speeds to dash into her making her groan as she hit a tent.
Juri was quick to jump at him using great flexibility to kick him up making him groan before she dealt a deadly series of kicks to him before he grabbed her leg.
"Uh oh." Juri said before screaming as he threw her into Akeno who groaned.
"Ow." Akeno said before Sean tried to blast them had Shadowcat not grabbed them and phased them.
Thats when Sean yelled holding his head.
"GET OUT OF MY HEAD!" Sean roared.
"Mesmero's control is beginning to break." Charles said.
Thats when Juri and Mai jumped at him before delivering a few kicks and punches before Juri kicked him in the air before Sean threw the bag as someone caught it as he landed down hard with a groan as Juri rushed to him.
"Babe?" Juri asked as he groaned holding his head.
"Juri? Where am I?" Sean asked looking around before Mesmero started laughing gaining their attention.
"You have done well...Kruger." Mesmero said before Sean widened his eyes.
"That voice." Sean said snarling as he faced him. "YOU!" Sean said enraged.
"It has been a long time 4 years since we last met when I disposed of your family." Mesmero said shocking them all.
"I'LL KILL YOU!" Sean roared before screaming holding his head as Juri held him before snarling at Mesmero.
"You have served your purpose." Mesmero said.
"You may have taken control of his mind. But can you handle mine." Charles said probing his mind making him groan before glaring at him.
"You have no idea who your messing with Xavier." Mesmero said as he blasted him and everyone else back before entering the tent.
Sean groaned as he held his head before the pain stopped and used Jean's powers to rip the Tent apart but he was gone.
"You gotta be fucking kidding me!" Sean yelled pissed off.
"Don't worry...We'll get him next time." Juri said.
"What did you see? What is Mesmero planning?" Hank asked.
"Not Mesmero. No. He's just another Puppet. Someone else was pulling the strings." Charles said.
"The hell does he want with those rings he made Sean steal?" Motoko asked helping him stand up.
"I don't know. But we'll find out soon enough." Charles said.
Later
Mesmero was in the mountains before walking through a cave seeing it with some statues before coming to a door.
Pulling out some stick he inserted the rings in a certain order before shoving it into a lock and twisted it making it glow before opening up showing another door.
"I have done as commanded. The first door is open. I await your instruction on the location of the other Two Keys." Mesmero said before groaning loudly. "I understand...The Boy is not to be further harmed for your plans. I will find the other keys and the world will tremble in the face of...Apocalypse." Mesmero said before leaving.
Meanwhile
Sean sighed as Juri was next to him in the nude again kissing him.
"You ok?" Juri asked concerned making him smile as he held her close.
"I'll be fine. I have something he won't take away from me ever again." Sean said making her smile.
"You know we could add another if you want. I don't mind." Juri said seductively making him chuckle.
"Lets wait till after Jean and Rogue give birth so theres less risk." Sean said making her smile as she buried into his chest. "Though if it is any conciliation I know you'd be a good mother." Sean said making her smile more before sleep claimed them both.
Authors Note: That was intense. Mesmero was the one who killed Sean's parents and now one of the doors to the Lair of Apocalypse has been opened up. What plans does he have for Sean I wonder?
