Chapter 72 Wake of the Dead

It's been a month since the end of the Dark Heart incident and since it became clear that Norris was working for Hayley.

Since then the League has been preparing for anything.

But Last week a group of armed mercenaries had attacked Global Tech and had stolen some new technology that had recently been developed to contain metahumans.

Sean had suspected there was a turncoat in the company who was selling high level intel to her.

Right now though.

Shayera in Fate's home was holding her daughter who snored lightly in her sleep making her smile.

"At least I'm not the last of my kind anymore because of you sweetie." Shayera said as Inza walked out.

"You never said what her name was." Inza said making her smile.

"Sean and I always said if we had a baby girl we would name her Angel." Shayera said as Angel yawned in her sleep.

"You will eventually have to tell him about her." Inza said.

"I know. Ever since the Sith Invasion I've wanted to find some peace on Earth knowing I might be the very last of my kind. Then I found I was pregnant and had her. One last gift before I left." Shayera said as Angel woke up and giggled at her mother making her smile.

Meanwhile

Sean was in his company office going over the reports on the theft.

"Hey." Saya said walking in.

"What is it?" Sean asked.

"We found the leak. It wasn't any of our people intentionally." Saya said confusing him.

"You're gonna have to explain." Sean said.

"You remember that tech the Cyber Division of Task force 141 uses in their universe?" Saya said.

"What of it?" Sean asked.

"It turns out some of our employees have been unknowingly planted with similar tech in their eyes and ears. My guess is during trips to the doctors outside of work. Thats how Hayley knew about the tech because she was watching and listening." Saya said making him glare.

"Is it easy to remove?" Sean asked.

"Already has been." Saya said.

"Good. And the doctors?" Sean asked.

"We've put out an arrest warrant and they've been caught and admitted to it all. Said they were threatened along with their children. The Pay was just compensation." Saya said.

"Christ Hayley." Sean said rubbing his nose.

"What happened between her and Amanda?" Saya asked.

"Hayley for some reason thinks my mother was responsible for her daughter's death in the line of duty. But she had nothing to do with it." Sean said.

"Maybe Grendel is behind it." Saya said.

"No. This has nothing to do with him. All his attacks were directly at me. This is at all of us." Sean said.

"Well, someone needs to get through her head that she didn't do it. Otherwise she'll be doing all this for nothing." Saya said.

Later

Sean was in Louisiana at a fashion show where Vixen and Rias Gremory were at.

And speaking of the later she came out in a two piece golden Bikini that had an Egyptian design to it. (Basically the skimpy outfit she danced in during the first OVA. Wished we saw more of it. Maybe in the future)

"Oh perfect." Sean said as she blew him a kiss making the men and some women glare at him making him smirk.

Thats when his phone rang.

"Yeah?" Sean asked.

Walking back to the dressing room Sean found Vixen and Rias in the back before they walked up to him and kissed him.

"Your early." Vixen said.

"I'd say I timed things perfectly." Sean said.

"We meant for our dinner date." Rias said as the two changed behind curtains. "The fashion show isn't over for another hour." Rias said.

"It is for us. We got League business." Sean said.

"We figured as much." Vixen said stepping out in her outfit as did Rias with her's being a red piece with red demon scales and black wings behind her.

"Aren't you gonna get dressed?" Rias asked grinning before his gear appeared.

"It only takes me a second to get into my gear." Sean said. "Come on I'll fill you both in on the way." Sean said as they left.

Later

Beowulf, Vixen and Rias flew to where the situation was happening before a police car flew past them making Beowulf drop Vixen and grabbed it before putting it down before resuming their course.

"Fate called it in. Grundy is back." Beowulf said. (By the Way Sora yes Grundy died like he did in Cannon I just skipped over the episode which was supposed to be during the Alien Chapter along with the Justice Lords episode but I had severe writers block on that)

"The Zombie guy? I thought he was actually dead?" Rias said.

"Some idiot kids used a book of spells thinking it would give them powers but ended up reviving him before he sent them to the emergency room. Morons." Beowulf said.

"He's a heavy hitter though." Vixen said.

"We can manage." Beowulf said before they heard roaring and looked ahead seeing Grundy with a bus in hand. "Oh man, don't do it!" Beowulf said before he threw the bus. "Fuck!" Beowulf yelled going after it.

"We got him." Rias said before she blasted Grundy making him roar.

Vixen used her necklace to use elephent strength pushing him into a wall making him roar as he smashed his fists down on her.

"Uh Sam we might have a problem." Beowulf said.

"It's one guy. How much trouble could he give." Lane said.

"Sam, theres something wrong here. Grundy has never been this strong before. It's like he's getting stronger by the second." Beowulf said.

"You sure?" Lane asked.

"NOW!" Beowulf yelled blasting his plasma Caster at him.

"All right I'll see who I can get in." Lane said.

Rias continued to blast Grundy but he just seemed to shrug it off before punching her back with great force making her fly away before Vixen rushed in and caught her.

"Rias." Vixen said trying to wake her up when Grundy walked to them making her frown before Superman rushed in and punched him away.

"Last I checked he was nowhere near this strong." Vixen said.

"I noticed. Get her out of here. I'll hold him off." Superman said before she carried her away just as Grundy walked to him. "Come on, Grundy! We've been through this before. You don't have a chance against me. Let's talk this over." Superman said before Grundy slugged him into a building.

"Something ain't right about him. It's like he's not the same anymore." Beowulf said.

"So theres no use talking to him?" Superman asked.

"More than likely." Beowulf said as he roared charging at them before slugging Superman far out and hit one of the pillars of a bridge before crashing into the water.

The Bridge quickly became unstable and started coming apart. However out of the water appeared Aqua man on a giant octopus before it started to keep the bridge from collapsing. However a car above fell off with a woman and her daughter before the top was ripped off and someone carried them away to the pier. When this person landed the two ran away and who recused them tried to fly into the battle but.

"Shayera?" Sean asked.

"Hi." Shayera said simply.

"I was wondering when I'd see you again. Wheres my daughter?" Sean asked shocking her. "Come on I'm not stupid I knew it before you left and decided to give you some space." Sean said as Superman came out of the water. "You okay?" Sean asked before he spat out water.

"Do I look Okay?" Superman asked annoyed.

"I told you he was stronger than last time. And you paid the price" Sean said making him groan in annoyance while Sheyara giggled. "Let's get this over with Grundy is getting on my nerves." Beowulf said.

"Perhaps we could be of some assistance" DR. Fate said as he, AMAZO and Aqua Man arrived.

"Wait before we try to put him down I want to talk to him." Sheyera said flying off.

"Sheyara!" Beowulf yelled making Vixen frown.

Grundy was in the middle of pushing a building down when.

"Grundy!" Sheyera yelled making him stop and face her. "It's me." Sheyera said before he just slammed her into the building as Beowulf slashed him with his maul.

"I tried to warn you. He's not like he was last time. It's just his body. Not his mind or soul." Beowulf said.

"Then it is time I end this." AMAZO said.

"Wait." Beowulf said scanning him. "Thats not gonna work either. He'll just absorb your power. It's like the more we throw at him the stronger he gets. It's really old magic." Beowulf said before Amenadiel arrived.

"Oh hell." Amenadiel said.

"I hope you have an explanation for this." Rias said.

"Your old buddy was revived with ancient and lost magic that has been forbidden by Father for Centuries. Nothing you guys use will actually hurt him. Just piss him off." Amenadiel said.

"There has to be something." Rias said as Vixen yelled as she was grabbed before Sheyare rushed in and slammed her mace on him making him roar in pain which surprised him.

"Thats surprising." Sean said as she slammed her mace down again before he fell into the sewers.

"What the hell just happened? I thought you said nothing would hurt him?" Vixen asked.

"I'm just as surprised as you are." Amenadiel said.

"Why did it hurt him?" Sheyare asked looking at her mace.

"It's made from Nth metal. It has a unique effect on magic. Your peoples technology before the Sith was devoloped to fight magic beings. It disrupts the magical flow." Fate said.

"So what are you saying exactly?" Sean asked.

"Your favorite movie is Saving Private Ryan you know exactly what he's saying. So is this my destiny. To put down a friend?" Sheyara asked. (For those who don't know the movie the men had to put down one of their own with Morphine to stop him from suffering from bullet wounds since he was injured greatly)

"You know it's not that simple far from it. Thats not Grundy. Just his body. His mind and soul have long since passed on." Sean said.

"I hate to break this up but the more we talk the further he gets away." Vixen said.

"Mari." Sean said making her frown. "I'll go." Sean said taking her mace. "I'm not squeamish when it comes to this." Sean said as his wings grew out before flying down.

Arriving in the sewers he found a trail of destruction before following the sounds of his target and eventually found him laying against a wall.

"Oh buddy. A sad shame it had to come to this but the fact is you're not the same as you once were." Sean said making him growl but couldn't move. "Relax. This will be over in a minute." Sean said

Everyone waited outside the entrence as Sheyara started pacing.

"Relax. He'll be fine." Rias said as he flew out with Grundy's body.

"It's over." Sean said.

Soon the Press tried to interview them but Sean and the others just left.

"I assume you'll be coming back now?" Sean asked Sheyara who sighed.

"I don't know about fully. I know some people clearly think it was wrong for me to leave." Sheyara said.

"I didn't." Sean said making her smile at him as he kissed her. "You don't have to rejoin the League if you're not ready yet. But I would like to have you back home and see my daughter." Sean said making her scoff.

"How did you even know I had a daughter anyway?" Sheyara asked.

"Please. It's you. Of course you would have a daughter first." Sean said making her giggle.

"Ok thats fair." Shayera said as they left.

Later

Angel giggled as she played with her big brothers as Korra watched over them.

"AWW. They are just so cute together." Korra said holding Angel up as she giggled before Korra felt her back making her feel something and looked. "Oooh." Korra said seeing Red wings on her back. "I guess you can call the color a side effect of being half Celestial and Half of your species." Korra said making Sheyara smile.

"I think it's a good thing. What about them?" Shayera asked.

"No their too young. The old man said it wouldn't appear till they were a little older. The Celestial side of them is still developing inside them." Korra said.

Sean saw all this from the couch and smirked before looking down seeing Paula in his lap snoring making him grin.

"It's nice to have her back after a year. I was surprised she was pregnant when she left." Diana said with Sarah in her arms.

"I wasn't. I already knew but knew she needed to find herself and knew Angel was in good hands." Sean said making her smile.

"So...When are we gonna try?" Diana asked amused making him scoff.

"I'd say after we deal with Cadmus since I'd rather not have to have more of them put in danger or worse." Sean said.

"Fair point." Diana said.
