Chapter 74 Task Force X
Inside a prison a few guards were transporting one of Earth's most dangerous and lethal serial killers. Victor Zsasz who was now fully healed thanks to some doctors.
After his fight against Sage 3 years ago he hasn't been heard of much but last month someone had paid for him to have his body fixed before it led to this.
With them was a priest.
"Theres still time, Mr. Zsasz. Are you sure you don't want me to pray for you?" The priest asked.
"I'm sure. But if it comforts you by all means be my guest." Zsasz said.
Opening the door to the chair they saw a well built man in the chair.
"Oh look at that. Someone has already taken my spot. Guess I'll just wait my turn." Zsasz said trying to walk away but the guard stopped him.
"Who are you? What is this?" The Warden asked before the man pulled out an envelope and handed it to him before the warden read it. "Release the prisoner." The Warden said.
"What! You can be serious!" The guard yelled.
"Release him!" The Warden said making him growl before doing so before the Warden and Guards left with the Priest.
"What if I don't want to go with you?" Zsasz asked before he got in his face.
"Then you can take your seat in the chair smart guy."
Zsasz frowned at this before they left.
Soon they were on the road.
"So what do I call you?" Zsasz asked.
"Colonel Flagg." Flagg said.
"Colonel Flagg? You're joking, right?" Zsasz asked before looking at the care door handle about to grab it.
"Before you do something stupid. Tell me how was your last meal?" Flagg asked.
"Not bad. Been a long time since I had lobster." Zsasz said grinning.
"It was laced with Explosive nanites." Flagg said making his eyes widen. "Any escape attempt and, well, you're gonna look kinda funny trying to run away with no head." Flagg said grinning.
"Thats a lot of trouble to go through to just keep me around. What do you want?" Zsasz asked.
"You're gonna do something patriotic, convict." Flagg said.
"So you need me to kill is that right?" Zsasz asked.
"No. That won't be necessary if the plan works. But if it doesn't, I need someone who can adapt and overcome in a tight situation." Flagg said.
"An expert with nothing to lose. This must be some nasty business." Zsasz said.
"A little B and E, A little grand larceny, no big deal." Flagg said.
"Whatever. What's the target?" Zsasz asked before a file was handed to him of...
"Justice League headquarters. The Watch Tower." Flagg said.
"Always did want to die for my country." Zsasz said grinning. (Yeah right)
Later
Zsasz and Flagg soon arrived at an abandoned Lex Corp building by the docks.
"You know, this might not be the best place to talk. Our friends in the sky have very good ears and eyes." Zsasz said.
"Not a problem, convict. The previous tenant had to leave in a hurry but he was pretty good about security." Flagg said. "Zsasz, Meet task force X." Flagg said showing three other people. "George Harness, AKA Captain Boomerang. Temple Fugate, The Clock King. And Bette Sans-Souci, Current Alias Plastique." Flagg said.(All Unlimited version)
"I know. I've seen the pictures." Zsasz said eying her.
"And thats all your gonna see killer. Your not my type." Plastique said making him smirk.
"Enough of this now. Lets get stuck into the business at hand." Harness said.
"Agreed. Time is of the essence." Fugate said.
Soon everyone was going over the plan.
"It's a blooming fortress crawling with Superheroes and highly trained solders and war experienced vets from every known universe." Harness said.
"Listen to me, we've got one advantage. This tower is three times as large as the original. And theres so much staff on it no one's going to notice us. Unless one of you does something stupid." Flagg said. "Once' we're aboard, Plastique and Zsasz will make their way down to the watchtower reactor where plastique will create a diversion." Flagg said.
"Is it Nuclear or something else from the Titan universe?" Plastique asked.
"Nuclear. Harness and I will make our way to the package which is kept on a storage level midway up." Flagg said.
"And just how the hell are we supposed to get past all that security?" Harness asked.
"Simple really. Like any security they have a weak time zone. Your target time is their weakest." Fugate said showing the more concerning members they may encounter. "Just three major obstacles. Captain Atom. His abilities include flight, super strength, and absorption of Radioactivity. Next would be Captain Cold, former thief turned hero like many others. His main weapon is an absolute freeze gun. He's intelligent, Calculating and has an eye for anything out of the ordinary so best to avoid him. Next is M'gann M'orzz the niece of the Martian Manhunter. Same abilities." Fugate said.
"Those are the only obstacles? What about Kruger or the avatar?" Harness asked.
"Thats the unknown part of the plan. Their visits are random. But right now since Kruger is in the campaign for President the odds are slim he'll show up." Flagg said.
Everyone was going over the plan to make sure they had all the basics down.
"Okay, Plastique, you're setting the charge and Korra walks in the room." Flagg said making her widen her eyes.
"You said she wouldn't be there." Plastique said.
"No I said she and Kruger are the unknown part. She's got the drop on you. What do you do?" Flagg asked.
"Before or after I start flirting with her?" Plastique asked making the guys snort.
"Yes, very amusing. You have three-tenths of a second to respond. What do you do?" Fugate asked.
"I grab a hostage and threaten to blow him to bits if the lady doesn't back off. Hows that?" Plastique asked.
"No unnecessary killing." Flagg said.
"What?" Harness asked annoyed.
"You kill someone, they find the body, sound the alarm and we're trapped." Flagg said.
"Or you take the time to hide the body. Time we don't have to waste." Fugate said.
"Speaking of the time." Zsazs said tired.
"Plenty of time to sleep in the grave. Which is where we can all end up if one of us misses his mark." Flagg said. "And that reminds me." Flagg said giving Zsasz a special mask that gave him a new identity so he wouldn't be so easily recognized.
"Not bad." Zsasz said.
Later
A group of three people out in a cornfield were waiting for a fourth member. These were workers for the Watchtower ready to be teleported. Suddenly the Fourth member arrived.
"Took you long enough."
"Had to drop the kids at..." Only to get shot with a dart in the neck along with all the others. Flagg and his group then came out. All of them were dressed in the same uniform before they stole their name tags while Zsasz emptied a lunch box and put some supplies in it.
"Five seconds. Prepare for transport." Fugate said.
"Copy that. You heard the man. We're on the clock." Flagg said putting some glasses on before they vanished.
They appeared on the watchtower and Plastique looked in awe of the view.
"Yeah, yeah its awe inspiring but I got a schedule to keep." One of the workers said before they approached him to sign in. Flagg took off his glasses revealing them to be a jamming device before selection the scanner making it turn off. "Oh for crying out loud! Second time this week this piece of crap has gone out." The man said about to call it in.
"Look we gotta get moving. We're running late." Flagg said.
"Tough break pal. You know the rules."
"Sure just so long as you don't mind explaining it to General Eiling." Flagg said making him pale since he hated having his time wasted on small things.
Soon the group went forward without raising an alarm.
"I almost thought that guy was gonna piss himself when he mentioned Eiling." Zsasz said.
"That was nothing. I almost lost it when this bonehead set off the metal detector." Plastique said about Harness.
"75 cents is 75 cents. I'm supposed to throw away money?" Harness asked.
"Shut your mouths and get your mind on the job." Flagg said as they went into a utility room to gear up. Zsasz pulled out the lunch box from before and assembled a gun while Plastique ripped off fake skin on her stomach revealing explosive devices and Harness pulled out his weapons of choice.
"Wheres your weapon?" Zsasz asked Flagg.
"This one don't need no weapon." Harness said.
Soon the group split up. Zsasz and Plastique went to the elevator to go to the reactor. Walking in they tried to close the door when Snart stopped it.
"Going down?" Snart asked getting in.
"Sure." Zsasz said.
Both of them looked very nervous till Zsasz grinned.
"By the way. For six weeks now my wife has been begging me to get Golden Glider to sign an autograph. You wouldn't know where she is today?" Zsasz asked making Plastique look at him like he was insane even though he actually was with all the murders he did.
"Sorry but she's not in today better luck next time." Snart said as the doors opened and he walked out. Once he did Plastique growled at him.
"What?" Zsasz asked.
"Are you out of your mind! I know your not right in the head but damn!" Plastique said making him smirk.
"You're welcome." Zsasz said making her growl more.
Meanwhile
Flagg and Harness were hacking into the storage area when they felt heavy footsteps and hid when Atom Smasher walked by before he left.
"Atom Smasher? Whats he doing here? Fugate never said anything about him." Harness said annoyed.
"Must have switched duty with someone else." Flagg said before the doors opened up. "This is X-1. We've reached Checkpoint A." Flagg said.
"Your 34 seconds behind schedule." Fugate said.
"Now that we're inside, we'll try to pick up the pace." Flagg said as they went inside but came face to face with a second door. "Theres no second door on the blueprints." Flagg said.
"Most likely to fool anyone who's acquired the Blue Prints. The Titans are smarter than people say just because they look like monsters." Fugate said.
In the reactor room Plastique was setting the charges to blow the reactor.
"Move it sweetheart." Zsasz said.
"Thirty six seconds." Plastique said.
Zsasz grinned but didn't see one of the workers coming around the corner till it was to late.
"What are you doing!"
Zsasz Quickly pulled out a knife and cut his throat making him gag on his own blood before dying.
"I do so love this Job." Zsasz said satisfied.
"This is why I swing the other way." Plastique said.
"We need that back up plan, X-4." Flagg said.
"32 seconds until Plastique's detonation." Fugate said.
"Roger that. Synchronizing." Flagg said.
"X-3, you have 28 seconds. Do not be late." Fugate said.
"Got it." Plastique said as she and Zsasz rushed off.
"And...NOW!" Flagg yelled getting Harness to throw his explosive boomerang and blew up at the same time as the reactor.
"Good lets move." Flagg said as they rushed in to find their objective.
"Crikey!" Harness said surprised.
"Boomer, Meet the package. The Annihilator." Flagg said looking at the weapon Ares wanted to use to get even stronger before his demise at the hands of God Slayer Sean.
At the bridge M'gann was giving orders to everyone she could.
"Captain Atom." M'gann said on comms.
"I'm on my way now. I should be able to keep the leak from spreading." Captain Atom said.
"Snart?" M'gann said.
"Clones and I are getting people off the station." Snart said.
"Atom make sure you investigate the reactor. I know Titan Technology and it shouldn't have done this." Hunter said.
"Will do." Captain Atom said.
Back in the storage room
"Hephaestus mighty vessel, chosen weapon of Ares arise and destroy at my command." Flagg said reading a note but nothing happened.
"It's not working. Now we're in for it." Harness said facing him and widened his eyes when Flagg punched him back hard before he stood up and pulled out his weapon. "Whats your problem, then, Mate? Want to go a couple of rounds?" Harness asked ready for a fight when the face of the annihilator glowed and stepped forward. "Right triggered by rage. Right. I forgot. Now what?" Harness asked.
"We wait for the others." Flagg said making him grumble.
Zsasz and Plastique were rushing up the stairs when the door started closing on them.
"No!" Plastique said trying to keep it from closing. "NOOO!" Plastique yelled before a hand grabbed it and pulled it up revealing Captain Atom.
"It's okay, you two." Captain Atom said as they rushed past him. "Just heading up Quick as you can." Captain Atom said before flying down letting the door close.
"That was the idea." Zsasz said.
"You are two minutes past zero. You used up your pad. There is no longer any margin for error." Fugate said just as Plastique and Zsasz came in.
"Okay lets go." Flagg said.
Meanwhile
Sean and Korra arrived on the bridge.
"Whats going on?" Sean asked.
"We're not sure." M'gann said before the doors were busted down by Atom Smashed before Flagg and his team showed up.
"Rick?" Korra asked.
"Oh shit." Flagg said.
"What are you doing?" Sean asked before seeing the Armor.
"Oh hell no you are not taking that?" Korra said.
Harness threw an explosive boomerang at them but Sean dodged before pulling out his glaive and threw it at him piercing him to the wall dead.
Only for smoke bombs to go off making Korra airbend it all out seeing them near the teleporter.
"Sorry Kruger. Just following orders." Flagg said before groaning in pain as a blade went right trough his chest.
"How incredibly naive of you." Zsasz said shocking him before his entire body changed revealing himself to be Grendel.
"YOU!" Flagg yelled in shock.
"The real Zsasz died days ago in his cell thanks to me. I knew you were gonna come and steal this armor. Hoping Faust could make something useful for troops. Sadly that wouldn't have happened since he would just merge with it and then go straight for the Gates of Hades to exact his revenge on Hades since he feels he got screwed over. But none of that matters now." Grendel said as Flagg blew up scattering his body parts everywhere making Sean groan as he vanished leaving Plastique left making her gulp holding her hands up.
Later
"How does Grendel know everything before it even happens? It's like Savitar all over again." Flash said.
"I'm starting to think Grendel is from the Future now these days. He knows everything before it happens." Sean said leaning on a wall.
"Plastique gave us everything in exchange for not being charged." Batman said.
"Yeah. And now we find out Hayley had nothing to do with what happened at the school. That was all Milo's dumb actions trying to earn her favor. Having no idea it could do what it did." Sean said.
"The charges on that aren't dropping though." Lantern said.
"Nope." Sean said.
"So what do we do now?" Wonder Woman asked.
"We're gonna strike hard at Cadmus and bring Hayley down." Sean said.
Meanwhile
"WHAT!" Hayley yelled in shock.
"Flagg is dead. And we found Zsasz. He had been dead for days. Whoever took his place knew about the mission." Norris said.
"Grendel." Hayley said pissed off.
"How could he had possibly have known. The Plan was made two days ago. A day before he was killed. It doesn't add up." Norris said.
"Unless." Hayley said.
"Unless what?" Norris asked.
"We've been going about this all wrong regarding him. What if he knows these events before they happened...Is because they already did." Hayley said.
"I'm not following." Norris said.
"What if he's from a distant future and thats how he knows about these events." Hayley said.
"You really think so?" Norris asked.
"It makes sense." Hayley said.
"Either way he's getting in the way." Norris said.
Meanwhile
"Outstanding." Grodd said seeing the armor.
"Very impressive. If we had this during the war it would have meant victory in certain battles." Malgus said.
"How did you know that this Task Force X was gonna try and take it?" Damian Darhk asked.
"I know everything that happens. Though I will admit Task force X was originally made by Amanda Waller but since time is different now it makes little difference." Grendel said.
Author's note: I told you there was gonna be a twist. So Rick and Harkness are dead and now Plastique is...Captured. I was gonna do a lemon between her and Korra but I'm dead tired from the hospital.
