Chapter 81 The Earth Queen
Sean was up top watching as Kai was learning from Jinora and Ikki.
"This is a terrible idea." Anakin said.
"Why? Just because he lied to us?" Sean asked.
"Whats to say he won't misuse his abilities for his own gains? After all give even the simplest thief a great power and they'll misuse it for his own gains." Anakin said.
"I don't deny the logic. But I still do believe we should give him a chance. After all is not the Jedi way? Mister Vader?" Sean Teased making his eyes twitch while he laughed.
"I swear I hate those movies. The trilogy after the originals was even worse." Anakin said.
"Meh. They could have been worse." Sean said as his Jedi counterpart and Kenobi walked to them.
"Well?" Anakin asked.
"Well...Only one universe had Kai as the villain. And it was more complicated." Kenobi said.
"Which universe?" Sean asked.
"The Mutant Universe. That Kai our Counterpart there put him in prison after an incident. This resulted in him wanting to get payback and when Magneto and Doom freed him he told them about Korra's pregnancy. He thought he was just gonna knock her out with a dart that was laced with a special poison that only had effects on the womb. He had no intentions of murder but Magneto never told him that." Jedi Sean said.
"He still worked for the worst villain there." Anakin said.
"That may be true but he did try to make amends but no one trusted him and was locked up in SHIELD by Fury's orders. Since it was outside our jurisdiction no one can defend him or try to give him a second chance. He's still locked up to this day." Kenobi said.
"For good reason. Intentions are irrelevant when your working with someone he knows had dark intentions." Anakin said.
"Lets...See how things work here before we make assumptions and make something that may not happen here become reality." Sean said.
"Fine." Anakin said As they came up to Ba Sing Se.
"It's so exciting to be on a diplomatic mission to Ba Sing Se. What's the Earth Queen like?" Korra asked Tenzin.
"I've never met her, but I've heard she can be quite demanding." Tenzin said.
"Oh great her again." Anakin said rolling his eyes.
"What was the one in your universe like?" Sean asked.
"She flat out showed up in the Chairman's office demanding to be handed the position of Leader and I killed her when she tried to Kill Organa." Jedi Sean said.
"Damn." Korra said.
Thats when Bolin rushed to the rails.
"This is it, Mako! We made it!" Bolin yelled.
"Calm down." Sean said.
"I wonder how many Airbenders are down there." Korra said.
"Reports indicate at least a few dozen." Kenobi said. said.
Passing the first ring however they saw how bad it was seeing the poorly built houses.
"Ugh. The lower ring looks terrible." Korra said disgusted.
"Ugh. Reminds me of the garbage Watto served for certain guests." Anakin said holding his nose.
"Yuck." Ikki said.
"I can seen why more people leave Ba Sing Se than stay." Kenobi said disturbed.
Soon they made it to the middle ring.
"HELLO MIDDLE RING!" Bolin yelled.
"Now this is more like it." Korra said appreciating the clean streets and houses.
"Reminds me of the old district my Family lives by on their home planet." Jedi Sean said.
Thats when they made it to the upper Ring and found the palace made of gold.
"You gotta be kidding me." Anakin said raising an eyebrow.
"Someone is trying to compensate for something." Kenobi said.
"Yup." Korra said.
"Now this is more like it." Kai said before Sean bonked him on the head. "OW!" Kai yelled making most laugh.
"Don't go back to your old ways kid." Sean said as they landed. (Just wait)
Getting off they were greeted by a servant. "Avatar Korra, Master Kruger and Master Tenzin, It is a pleasure to welcome you and your party to the Upper Ring of Ba Sing Se. I am Grand Secretariat Gun." Gun said bowing.
"Thank you." Korra said bowing.
Thats when Bolin and the animals appeared before he sniffed the air.
"Ahh, it's got that upper ring Smell." Bolin said.
"Oh, no. The Queen hates animals. We've got to get them out of sight." Gun said.
"Well, I can stash Pabu in my shirt. These two are gonna be a little tougher." Bolin said as Komodo hissed at Gun making him yelp.
"Easy Buddy." Sean said making him stick his tongue out.
"Come with me, hurry. I'll take you to your quarters." Gun said leading them away. "Now, when you meet the queen, make sure you bow low enough. That's very important. And don't look her in the eye, she can't stand that. If any food is served. don't eat before she eats. Oh, actually, I have to taste her food first, Then she eats, then you can eat. Better yet, just don't eat." Gun said. (Oh my lord)
"Seems like an awful lot of rules." Korra said making Gun sigh.
As they were walking Kai noticed a noble with a lot of gold and smirked before sneaking off. (The thing that pisses me off the most is that Korra didn't scold him since she helped him from going to jail. It just wasn't right. And Jinora didn't say anything either.)
"Oh, you have no idea, and I'm the one who gets in trouble when people don't follow them, so Please, Please, for my sake, just try not to upset her majesty." Gun said leading them into a house. "Now. go in and make yourselves comfortable and keep those animals out of sight in the backyard. If you'd like to meet the Earth Queen you should follow me." Gun said.
"All right lets get going." Korra said as she and Sean left.
Soon the three approached the Earth Queen who was observing some construction along some man around their age.
"Your Majesty, May I present Avatar Korra and her Husband Master Kruger." Gun said.
"Your Ruining the Koi Pond! It's completely overshadowed by the topiaries! Guards, Take that Buffoon away and get me someone who knows what they're doing!" The Queen yelled making Sean and Korra look at each other.
"I guess every universe she's bad." Korra whispered.
"Mmm." Sean said in agreement.
"So I finally get a visit from the Avatar and the Son of God." The Queen Said.
"Great Grandson actually." Sean said.
"Oh. Let me guess you want something." The Queen said.
"Well, as it happens we were hoping you could..." Korra tried to say.
"Allow me to introduce myself Avatar. I am Prince Wu. I'm her nephew. And is such a pleasure to meet such a fine beauty." Wu said making her feel uncomfortable.
"As we were saying..." Sean tried to say.
"I hardly think you're in a position to ask me for favors after everything the last Avatar did to the Earth kingdom." The Queen said.
"What does that mean? I'm pretty sure he helped your father reclaim his position after the war." Sean said.
"True but I'm referring after the war. He and Fire Lord Zuko took advantage of my father's weakness, and stole our lands to make their own little empire. The united republic is Earth Kingdom territory." The Queen said.
"Thats like a small patch of land compared to what you do have." Sean said making her scoff.
"Well, I'm not sure what I can do about that." Korra said uncomfortable.
"Not that you care. But whats left of my kingdom is falling to ruin." The Queen said.
"Hmm?" Sean said.
"Roving bands of Barbarians are raiding villages in the countryside, and now, some of my subjects are refusing to pay their taxes." The Queen said.
"We're very sorry for your troubles, But actually..." Korra tried to say.
"That Topiary is supposed to be an Eel-Swan, not a turtle-Duck!" The Queen said.
"Ok I just wanna go home now and order a nuclear strike on this place." Sean said making her elbow him.
"Ok I know that last part was a joke but still." Korra said.
Meanwhile
"Has anyone Seen Kai?" Turok asked.
"Oh don't tell me." Anakin said annoyed.
"Little punk ass gave us the slip didn't he?" Reznov said.
"I told you helping him was a bad idea. He's out there right now no doubt using his new gift to steal from people." Anakin said.
"You may be right. But at the same time old habits are probably difficult to get rid of." Kenobi said.
"That is hardly an Excuse." Jedi Sean said.
"See?" Anakin asked.
"Look it doesn't matter. We need to find him. Mako and Bolin can do that." Jedi Sean said.
"Yeah sure." Mako said as they left.
"And when they find him?" Kenobi said.
"A very stern and strict warning." Jedi Sean said.
"What thats it?" Anakin asked in disbelief.
"And the warning of taking his bending away if he does it again." Jedi Sean said.
"Now that I can work with." Anakin said.
"Look he's just a kid. And kid's screw up." Julia said.
"I seem to recall a certain someone screwed up a lot when we were kids." Jedi Sean said looking at Anakin.
"What does that mean?" Anakin asked.
"Training room." Jedi Sean said amused.
"Ok that was a one time deal." Anakin said annoyed making him chuckle.
Meanwhile
"NO TO YOUR LEFT! YOUR OTHER LEFT! Do you have these problems with your servants?" The Queen asked.
"We don't have servants." Sean said getting annoyed more by the second.
"Listen, the reason for our visit is that we're trying to gather all of the new airbenders who are popping up in the Earth kingdom, and we'd like your help finding the ones in Ba Sing Se." Korra said.
"Airbenders in Ba Sing Se? Where did you hear that?" The Queen asked.
"Reasonable intel from the Legion since they monitor every sector of the alliance." Sean said.
"Hmm. Well, before I even consider helping you, I'll need you to do something for me." The Queen said.
"And that would be?" Korra asked.
"I have a vault full of Tax money sitting in a town south of here. Barbarians have stolen my past two shipments. Go collect my money and bring it back here." The queen said making them frown.
"All right." Korra said.
"Oh and Avatar. When your done with that false god. Feel free to come to bed with a real man." Wu said making her gag silently.
"Mother fuckers." Sean said annoyed.
"I hate them." Korra said.
"I know the feeling." Sean said as they made it back to the others.
"Where are Mako, Bolin and Kai?" Sean asked.
"Kai vanished and we think he's up to his old ways again." Tenzin said making him sigh.
"Why do I even bother. I should have just left him with the police." Sean said.
"Told ya." Anakin said.
"What about the Kai from your universe?" Korra asked.
"We never met him since the portals stayed closed so he never became an Airbender. But let me see if I can find something on him." Anakin said.
"Anyway, Asami, you mind flying us out somewhere to pick up some tax money. The Queen said she won't help unless she gets it.
"Sure." Asami said as they left.
"I swear I think I can see why my Mutant version hates the kid." Sean said.
Meanwhile
P'li was in prison under the ice to keep her from firebending or making explosions. (I keep feeling she's related to the Combustion Man from the original series like his grand daughter or something)
Ever since she and her friends were defeated by the Dark knight 17 years ago things had been beyond boring for her.
Thats when the White Lotus yelled as blood splattered on her making her gasp.
"Well this is...Sad." Grendel said seeing her.
"YOU! You put me in here! You're the reason me and my team lost! You sent that...Freak after us to stop us!" P'li yelled.
"Uh no. The Batman never should have been there. But that is irrelevant. I'm here to set you free. You still work for me. Or would you rather freeze to death down here?" Grendel asked making her grumble as he let her out.
"Fine. But I still hate you." P'li said.
"Granted I deserve that. Now...We have one last stop to make." Grendel said.
"We?" P'li asked before they vanished and appeared in front of the others. "Zaheer?" P'li asked making him smile.
"Why free us now?" Ming-Hua asked.
"I'm gathering as many allies to fight Beowulf. And I have one more stop." Grendel said vanishing.
Meanwhile
Sean, Korra and Asami got off the airship and headed for the bank.
"What the hell is wrong with this place?" Sean asked seeing it was in bad shape.
"I don't like this." Korra said before they made it to the bank before it was opened.
"You here for the Tax Shipment?" A guard asked.
"Aye." Sean said before they started loading it up and went to the airship.
Thats when a flare went up.
"What the?" Sean asked before the guards ran off as bikers showed up.
"Guards...Right." Korra said before they were surrounded.
"Wait I know you two. The avatar and Beowulf." The Leader said.
"Thats right. Who are you and why are you after this gold?" Sean asked.
"That gold belongs to the people. Always has. The Queen is extorting every piece from the kingdom just because she says she can." The Leader said.
"Ugh. It's like Unalaq all over again." Sean said annoyed.
"Keep it." Korra said.
"Thank you." The Leader said as they took it.
"Ugh. This is why I hate so called Royal linages like their's. More bad than good." Sean said.
"Let's go." Korra said.
Meanwhile
Grendel appeared in some military base seeing some guards around a cell.
"HALT! PUT YOUR HANDS UP!"
Only for blood to splatter on the walls.
"Fools." Grendel said as he unlocked the cell before finding who he was looking for.
"So...This is what duty gets ya. Betrayal of your so called friends. Isn't that right...Captain Atom." Grendel said looking at the restrained Captain Atom.
"What do you want?" Atom asked.
"To offer you a ticket to revenge. You join my group...And I will help get your revenge on those who wronged you. After all you were only following orders. Thats what a good soldier does. Would you believe me if I told you Hawkgirl would have been in a similar situation as you if the timeline had not changed?" Grendel said.
"I'm not making that mistake again. Forget it." Atom said.
"I figured as much. Which is why...I brought a backup plan." Grendel said as someone he knew walked in.
"Clifford Zmeck?" Atom asked in shock.
"Now then." Grendel said as Atom started screaming as his body and power melted before merging with Zmeck who roared before becoming like Captain Atom but with a more Red appearance as he stopped and chuckled.
"Major Force." Grendel said.
"I like it." Major Force said.
"I knew he wouldn't agree to come and help us but it didn't hurt trying. Now...I have everything I...hmm?" Grendel asked looking around.
"What?" Major Force asked.
"Nothing...I feel like something has changed...Something is about to happen that didn't in the original time line." Grendel said as they vanished leaving nothing but the dead bodies and the empty cell of where the once heroic Captain Atom remained.
Meanwhile
"Where is my gold?" The Queen asked impatient.
"Your not getting it since it doesn't belong to you." Sean said with his wrist blades out.
"How dare you! That gold is mine and mine alone. I rule the Earth kingdom! And soon I will rule over the world!" The Queen yelled before screaming as a spear nearly hit her by his spear gun.
"Your duty is to the people. Not the other way around. This is why your kingdom is falling apart. You're taking gold from everyone for yourself and yourself alone. Soon enough people won't have enough for basic needs and then it will crumble to nothing." Sean said.
"Not until I take over. OUT OF MY SIGHT!" The Queen yelled.
"No. Guards. Have him killed and kill his spawns and bring his women to me. I'll show them a good time." Wu said before yelping as the whole place began to crumble as he looked at his blood red eyes. "I'm sorry." Wu whimpered out.
"As for you. Any acts against any part of the world will be considered an act of war. I'm certain a majority of your army will abandon you if that comes." Sean said leaving making her seethe in rage.
Later
"So the Earth queen is taking everything away from her kingdom for her own gains just because she believes she can do so because she's queen. If this continues the Earth Kingdom will be in shambles within a matter of weeks." Kenobi said scratching his beard.
"We need to get the others involved and take her out before she tries anything. The Queen from our Universe was more deranged than this one and she wanted everything for herself. If we don't do something now we'll be in another war. And no one wants that." Anakin said.
"I agree but the fact of the matter is we still don't know where the Airbenders are. And we need to find them first." Sean said.
"We know where they are." Mako said as he and Bolin walked to them a little dirty.
"The hell happened to you guys?" Anakin asked.
"That punk Kai is what happened. Took our wallets and left us out in the outer ring." Mako said annoyed.
"But on a bright side we did meet our Dad's family." Bolin said.
"Oh really?" Anakin asked.
"Yeah...That was the only good thing that happened." Mako admitted reluctantly.
"So whats going on?" Korra asked.
"The Earth queen is gathering the new Airbenders and plans to use them for warfare. Theres been talks of her going to war with the rest of the world. Wanting to restart the Hundred year war for her own gains." Mako said.
"We need to get rid of her now." Anakin said.
"We still don't know..." Sean tried to say before Lin walked in along with other members of the Wolf Pack.
"Lin? What are you doing here?" Tenzin asked.
"We need to get Sean and Korra out of here. Their lives are in danger." Lin said.
"Huh? From what?" Sean asked.
"I just got word from Lord Zuko and Tonraq." Lin said.
"Why is Lord Zuko with my dad?" Korra asked holding her son close.
"Zaheer and the others have escaped." Lin said.
"How is that possible?" Tenzin asked.
"Because Zaheer is an airbender now." Lin said.
"No." Tenzin said in shock.
"Oh great this again." Anakin said.
"What again? Whats going on? Who the fuck is Zaheer?" Sean asked.
"You guys make it sound like someone more dangerous than Grendel is after us." Korra said.
"He might be." Kenobi said.
"Whats going on?" Sean asked making Tenzin sigh.
"When we first arrived in republic City when Bruce did. Zaheer and three others attempted to kidnap you. While they took us down they didn't take Batman down since he had more experience fighting people like them. However we were concerned that Unalaq was behind it so we all agreed to bring the two of you to Gotham out of his reach." Tenzin said.
"So thats why we left." Korra said.
"It was for your own protection." Tenzin said.
"But how do you guys know him?" Sean asked the Jedi.
"Every version of us have faced against him. He's caused nothing but trouble. And in two of those universes he nearly brought the end of everything." Jedi Sean said.
"Meaning?" Korra asked.
"In our universe he wanted to use an old relic left behind by the Mortis gods which allows anyone to tamper with time. He wanted to use this to cause pure untamed chaos. Fortunately he was stopped and the relic was destroyed." Kenobi said.
"And the other?" Sean asked.
"According to your God Slayer counterpart he wanted to unleash all the power he had inside him at the time but it didn't work the way he wanted. He couldn't just release it that way. If he did the Gods whose power it comes from would be set free and purged of the corruption inside them. But Zaheer wanted it all unleashed without them so it could cause chaos. And from what we were told he actually succeeded for a short time before the first god of that universe undid his work." Anakin said shocking them.
"Grendel may be the most dangerous person in your universe but theres no doubt that Zaheer in every universe is the biggest threat since he's caused nothing but harm and wide spread death." Kenobi said.
"Why didn't you just kill him and be done with it then?" Sean asked Tenzin.
"Even though Unalaq sent them in the other universe he didn't in theirs." Tenzin said.
"So?" Korra asked.
"So if Unalaq didn't send them then who did was a very serious question." Kenobi said.
"Hmm. Did he in this one?" Sean asked.
"Amanda confronted him before the first portal was opened but he insisted he left the group before they tried to kidnap both of you. And he was being recorded. According to the recording signs showed he was being honest." Kenobi said.
"So he didn't send them who did?" Anakin asked.
"Grendel." Sean said gaining their attention. "Theres no one else who could pull that off." Sean said.
"I think he might be right." Tenzin said.
"Which is why we need to leave and head back to Republic City." Lin said.
"No. Raiko would find some way to sell us out to get even since he lost his position and can't run for President back home because he blames us." Sean said.
"Yes. He's too unpredictable." Jedi Sean said.
"No matter what universe he always is." Anakin said.
"For now though we need to rescue the airbenders and get out of here." Sean said.
"Fine." Lin said.
Later
A guard outside an entrance stood watch.
Only for a Blue Lightsaber to go through him making him gasp as Anakin stood over him.
"Was that necessary?" Kenobi asked.
"I think so since clearly everyone who serves her is guilty in some way." Anakin said.
"Hmm. I honestly don't care. I think the whole kingdom needs a clean slate. Whats the old saying? Destroy something old to build something new." Sean said.
"Provided it doesn't involve the death of innocent civilians." Jedi Sean said as they went in.
While this was going on Korra was with Diana.
"You ok?" Korra asked seeing her look concerned.
"Yes. I just find it difficult to believe one man in every known universe could cause such problems." Diana said.
"For every universe there are similarities and differences. But even every universe has at least one thing in common in one way or another." Korra said.
"Yes." Diana said holding her pregnant stomach that looked ready to burst.
Coming out with the Airbenders they encountered the Dai Li.
"Oh great. We never encountered these guys before in our universe since they actually were disbanded." Jedi Sean said.
"Well, well, well. If it isn't the so called heroes of the Multiverse." The Queen said coming out.
"You really are smug you know that?" Sean asked.
"Hmph. I don't care. Once all of you die I'll conquer every universe there is. Your all talk. Thats all you ever have been. I on the other hand am not." The Queen said.
"Is she serious?" Anakin asked in disbelief.
"Delusions of Grandeur blinds you to the truth." Kenobi said.
"Kill them." The Queen said before they yelled as they blew up shocking her.
"Ok...I'm gonna enjoy this." Sean said charging at her before stabbing her in the chest making her gasp in shock as she looked at her blood making her scream in horror before he pulled his wrist blades out.
"This is something I reserve for the worst."
"NO! NO! NOOOOOOOO!" The Queen screamed in horror.
Later
The queen's body hung up on her palace skinned.
"Thanks for getting me out of there." Kai said.
"ahem." Anakin said making him pale.
"You are in serious trouble kid." Jedi Sean said.
"Look I'm sorry...I just couldn't help it." Kai said.
"Oh. Thats not gonna save you this time around. And you might wanna reconsider helping him since I just found out what happened to the Kai in our universe." Anakin said.
"Meaning?" Kenobi said.
"He was a Sith warrior during the Clone wars who did a lot of cruel things back home. A lot of which he did willingly without remorse. Died on Starkiller base like most of them." Anakin said.
Sean looked at Kai who looked nervous.
"Put him away." Sean said.
"BUT...I'm not like that! I don't wanna hurt anybody." Kai said.
"But you left us out in the lower ring after taking our wallets." Mako said.
"I'm sorry. Really. I just couldn't help it." Kai said.
"I don't fucking care." Sean said as Anakin grabbed him and took him to the holding cell.
"Wait." Korra said stopping him. "I got another idea." Korra said as she grabbed his head and her eyes glowed.
"What...What did you just do?" Kai asked.
"I took away you bending." Korra said making him gasp in shock. "For now." Korra said.
"For now?" Anakin asked.
"If he wants it back he's gotta earn it." Korra said.
"I can live with that." Sean said.
Later
Tenzin and the new Airbenders were heading to the Temple without Ikki and Jinora.
"So if Zaheer is so dangerous how was he stopped in each universe?" Sean asked his counterpart.
"Well...He wasn't entirely. In most cases he actually did succeed in his plots but in some of them he realized he made a huge mistake and amended for his actions. Like the avatars of old and Titan universes." Jedi Sean said.
"And the others?" Sean asked.
"Never got the Chance. Doesn't matter. I'm heading back to get ready for the worst case scenario. I'm not gonna have history repeat itself." Jedi Sean said opening a portal back to his universe.
"Let's just hope things don't get out of hand like in the other universes." Kenobi said.
"Did they in yours?" Sean asked.
"Honestly no since he handles it with some old friends outside the Legion just fine. Either way though it was still too close for comfort." Anakin said.
"Let's just hope things play out differently." Kenobi said.
Author's note: And with that The Earth Queen is officially dead in the worst way possible. Personally I think her dying by Zaheer's hand was getting off easy since she deserved a much more brutal death for the crap she pulled.
