Chapter 2
There were a lot of noises, demonic mutterings, and dead moaning. Demons of horrific aesthetic and many other types of infernal creatures, and bizarre monsters were moving from one place to another, building or carrying many things around, and while the scene could have made anyone quiver in fear, for a small girl with golden eyes and snowy white hair. The monsters were nothing to worry about. She, in fact, was not paying attention to them, not really.
"Ah, I think is good enough for now," the girl said.
"My lady, don't worry about it. The fortress is going to be the greatest this world has ever seen," Pandora's Actor said, making Galadriel sigh.
Galadriel hummed at her watch the many creatures of Pandora's Actor and she summons in order to create a fortress. Galadriel knew that she had to create a place where she could plan ahead for the future she wanted. A fortress where she could retreat in case of something happening, as well, to have somewhere where she could create an army of sorts. Galadriel skill tree doesn't have many creatures to summon from. She had quite a few, in fact. But what she lacks in abilities to invoke a monster. Galadriel had many cash items. Glory to pay to win items.
Galadriel wanted to create many types of units to help Pandora's Actor and expand their influence. Also, she wanted to have many secret agents to use as a spy, assassins, and more importantly. Shields to her family. Galadriel wasted no time to put [Shadow Demons] Across Winterfell and around her family. There was nothing that happened at Winterfell without her knowing, and soon. All the North would be under her watchful eye. Yet, she was slowly building it. Galadriel knew it would take time, but so far, everything was going fine.
"Well, I agree but, the size of this castle, it's quite too much, don't you think?" Galadriel asked as she stared at the blueprint of the immense castle. They were in the middle of Wolfswood. Deep in the dark forest, they have chosen a small mountain where they were going to build their fortress. They were going to build inside the mountain the underground of the castle. They need, after all. A place where they could lock and interrogate people. Well, kind of.
"Actually, I believe the castle is quite small."
Pandora's Actor said honesty and Galadriel only stared at him confused and baffled.
"You want to make it bigger than Winterfell. Hell! You want to make it bigger than Harrenhal!" Galadriel said, bemused.
"Bigger!" Pandora's Actor exclaimed happily, making Galadriel groan.
"Alright… Alright, I leave it to you then. You know what you are doing, I guess," Galadriel said, earning a small chuckle from Pandora's Actor.
"It would be better to have a big castle or fortress. We have been summoning quite a lot of things and using cash items to fill the place. It's just only natural."
"I know, I know."
Galadriel replied as she looked around and saw the many creatures. Especially undead. She was thankful that Pandora's actor was with her now. His ability to change classes was proving incredibly useful. Since they realized that the rules of summoning were different in the world, they were in. So, with that in mind, both Pandora's Actor and Galadriel realized that having undead, which cost not so much MP, practically could be invoked many times with minor problems, was a huge thing for them. Galadriel then decided to use the Undead as the basic workers in the castle. Then she added a few golems, fifty to be exact for now, to do the heavy lifting. A few highly intelligent Demons, in order to keep everything running smoothly, and a few other different types of creatures to hide the entire operation.
Galadriel has used quite a lot of Cash items, and she was only starting. Yet, at the same time, she doesn't want to start using all of her items. It could cause a problem. She doesn't know how some of those NPCs could react towards her. So, she has been quite cautious about it.
"It's going to be fine, my lady. This castle is going to be finished before you realize!" Pandora's Actor said as Galadriel smiled.
"Now, my lady. I've been thinking about something."
"Oh, what is it?"
"Have you tried to boost your sibling's powers?" Pandora's Actor said, and Galadriel only looked at the sky.
She knew why he was asking something like that. Galadriel, after having that strange dream, investigated the many myths and histories about the North, and her family. The Stark Family. The blood of the first man runs deep in them, or that was what they say about them. Yet, she was seeing that it may well be true. Because, just a few days ago. Lyanna had a nightmare. Galadriel's sister was horrified about such a dream. She told Galadriel that she was beyond the wall, and demons with blue eyes were trying to call to her, whispering horrible things. Galadriel was concerned about it. Then, Edward had the same dream, then Benjen, and finally Brandon. Each had the same dream.
Galadriel then decided to pay attention to that. So, she has been pondering if his siblings had any magic of old in them. If that was the case, then what she should do about it? That was the question.
"I have thought about it, yet I am still unsure of how to do it. I don't want to hurt them in any way. I don't know how potions, scrolls, or any item would react towards them. Their bodies could… well, you know."
Pandora's Actor nodded. "Yes, my lady. I know you care for them a great deal."
"They are my family," Galadriel said, almost whispering, but a soft smile appeared on her face and Pandora's Actor couldn't help but feel the same as his lady.
"I don't want to do something that would hurt them. So, first. I want to experiment with something small first. Like a small health potion."
"Mm, yeah, we could do that. Also, if you like, my lady. I could get some… specimen to experiment with. Mostly bandits or thieves."
"Experiment with?" Galadriel said while looking at Pandora's Actor with a funny face.
"It's going to be faster that way."
Galadriel thought for a moment and she couldn't see any bad side. It would allow her to feel better to know that her family would not face repercussions if she used something on them. Galadriel wanted to strengthen them. But she was afraid of, perhaps, injury them with Yggdrasil items. That's why she has used nothing of sorts for now. Perhaps I could level them up? Would that work here? Make them stronger physically, or make them unlock some of the so-called Stark magic? Well, I don't know if is truly magic. But maybe there is something inside us. Something unique. Galadriel thought.
"Alright, you win. Try to use items or potions, see how their mortal bodies react. It would be interesting to see."
"I'll do it immediately."
Galadriel smiled as she saw the sun rising again and sighed. "Another night went by so fast."
"Indeed, it does," Pandora's Actor replied.
"I need to leave now. Lyanna could wake up any time," she said.
"Understandable, my lady. I'll stay here just to give a few more orders and see what else can we improve."
Galadriel rolled her eyes. "The castle is fine, Pandora's Actor. You don't need to improve more!"
"It needs to be perfect!" Pandora's Actor exclaimed and Galadriel giggled.
"So be it, my trustful commander! Keep doing what you do!" Galadriel said, with a military voice and Pandora's Actor quickly salutes her, all dramatically. Galadriel chuckled as gave a little jump and kissed her creation's cheeks.
"Take care, don't forget to take a breakfast," Galadriel said like a mother would and Pandora's Actor nodded obediently.
Galadriel then used [Fly] and flew away, reaching Winterfell castle, and her room where her cute little sister was asleep. Galadriel slowly entered the room from the window and made sure to not make noise so Lyanna wouldn't wake up. Not like it was needed. Lyanna was someone who could sleep through an earthquake without a problem. So, slowly, Galadriel approached the bed and tuck herself in. Lyanna then, as if it was natural, hugged Galadriel's body, cuddling with her older sister, and started to snore again.
Galadriel giggled a bit, but she just allowed her sister to use her as a pillow. It was endearing, and something that made Galadriel incredibly happy. It was strange to feel loved, even after so many years. The feeling of someone wanting her to be there. Galadriel has grown used to it, slowly but surely, and she treasured it, to have a family, to have people who loved her unconditionally. That's why Galadriel has grown incredibly overprotective of them. Galadriel knows that while in the North as a whole. The noble houses respected and loved the Starks. Not all thought the same.
Especially a house called the Bolton. They were kings once, a long time ago, and they wished to be kings once more. Or well, the Warden of the North. They won't try anything yet. Still, Galadriel would make sure to eliminate any threat to her family.
"I'll protect all of you… against anyone," Galadriel whispered, as she strokes Lyanna's cheeks.
Lyanna seems to feel her sister's finger and slowly woke up, groaning at the sight of light coming through the window.
"Uhm…? What are you doing in my room?" Lyanna said, half-asleep.
"This is my room, my little sister," Galadriel said, amused.
"Ah… that's right," Lyanna said, remembering the reason why she was there. The nightmare came to her mind and shivered.
"You're thinking about that dream of yours, right?" Galadriel asked.
"Yeah… it felt so real," Lyanna muttered, hugging Galadriel tightly, while the snow white-haired girl only sighed, patting her sister back.
"It was just a dream," Galadriel replied.
"I know, but it feels as if I was there. It was so scary," Lyanna said.
"Well, you're not alone, never."
Lyanna nodded, and for a few minutes, the youngest Stark daughter remain quiet, just hugging her sister and enjoying the warmth and familiar scent of flowers and vanilla. Lyanna sometimes wonder, how her sister could smell so good. It was as if everything she was worried, or afraid. Galadriel's scent changed into something that allow her to relax. It was odd.
The sister remained there, together until someone knock on the door, and without even batting an eye, Galadriel knew it was their mother.
"I knew you were here," Lyarra said with a sigh.
Lyanna groaned as she uses the covers to hide. Galadriel only giggled at the antics of her sister.
"She had a nightmare," Galadriel said, and her mother only sighed.
"I see," Lyarra said, as she approached the bed, where Lyanna was hiding underneath the bedsheets.
"Lyanna, are you alright?"
The muffling sounds came from underneath the sheets, and Lyarra slowly took them off, only to see a sobbing Lyanna laying there.
"Oh, my dear, it was just a nightmare," Lyarra whispered, as she took her time to clean her child's tears.
"It was so real, mother. Those blue eyes were glaring at me. They wanted to hurt me," Lyanna sobbed.
Lyarra stared at Galadriel, and the white-haired girl only took a deep breath.
"It was just a bad dream," Galadriel whispered once again, but her mind was already thinking about what could it all mean. She knew it has to do with the so-called Others. Beyond the wall, far deep in the Land of Always Winter. It was one of the reasons why she has started to build her own forces just in case. But she needed more information, more resources, to hold on to whatever was there. Yet, if those things might send dreams towards her siblings and her, then they could do magic of sorts. That's why Galadriel protected her mind with some abilities. [Strong Mind] and [Clarence] had worked so far on her. So, she would start using those abilities on her siblings to protect them from those things.
Still, these problems just prove one thing to her, and it was that Galadriel needs to make her siblings stronger, to prepare them for any type of danger.
"I know, I know, but the fuckers were scary!" Lyanna exclaimed, and Lyarra gasped at the language of her child, while Galadriel laughed out loud.
"Lyanna! Don't use that foul language!"
Lyanna apologized, but not really. Yet, it seems that Lyanna was feeling a bit better.
"So, everyone, let's go and eat breakfast before we travel to Cerwyn."
Lyanna and Galadriel nodded and got ready for what could be a long day ahead.
The visit of family Cerwyn for the names-day of the heir went with little problem. It was just one of many times where the Stark family visit their close allies and loyal friends. It was, of course, something that brings a bit of amusement to Galadriel. A drunken northern lord is fun to watch. Especially when they fight. Galadriel thought as she was inside the carriage with her mother, Lyanna, and little Benjen. Edward and Brandon were riding with their father ahead.
Galadriel looked at her mother, who was smiling as Benjen was sleeping and then saw Lyanna boringly looking at the window. The youngest Stark girl wanted to ride with her brothers and father, so when they denied her that. She made a sort of scene and sat down grumpily. It was quite fun to see if Galadriel was honest.
"Are you still mad about it, Lyanna?" Galadriel said, with a teasing tone.
"Stupid carriage, stupid gown," Lyanna only muttered.
"Don't say that about your gown, is beautiful!" Their mother said.
"I don't like it," Lyanna replied again, muttering.
"I think you look cute," Galadriel said, earning a glare from her little sister.
Galadriel giggled, but then the carriage halted, suddenly. Galadriel frowned and slowly looked at the window. There was nothing strange around them, and her skill was not picking anything wrong, or an enemy. Still, she slowly let her Shadow Demons inspect the surroundings. Her mind was already preparing for the worst-case scenario.
"Galadriel, dear, could you ask what is happening to your father?" Lyarra asked in a worried tone.
"Yes, mother," Galadriel said, as she stood out from the carriage, Lyanna followed her.
Both sisters went all the way ahead, where lord Stark, Brandon, and Edward were standing and were surprised to see what was blocking the road.
"Whoah… that's a Direwolf?" Lyanna whispered.
"Yeah, this is a Direwolf," Lord Stark said.
Galadriel glared at the dead wolf blocking the road. It was quite the creature, enormous even. Yet, beautiful. However, it was dead and one could only wonder who killed such a beast.
"Father, where it came from?" Brandon asked.
"I don't know. There hasn't been Direwolfs this far south in a long time," Lord Stark said, as he inspected the dead animal.
"What kills her?" Edward asked.
They all looked baffled at the wounds on the beast. It looked as if someone or something had opened the beast up. But it was carefully done, almost mercifully. It was clear the Direwolf did not suffer. Yet, the question remained, and the answer was nowhere to be found. But Galadriel noticed some strange symbols on the ground.
"What is this?" Galadriel whispered, and everyone noticed that around the Direwolf some stones were laying there, on the ground.
"I don't know," Lord Stark whispered, and a shiver came through all of them. Galadriel, however, couldn't shake the feeling that it was something planned beforehand. Because from where she was standing. The entire scene looked as if it was a gift of sorts. Those rocks, and the symbols carved into them, with the strange flowers. It felt as if something was trying to give them something. Or that's what Galadriel felt in anycase.
"Look!" Lyanna yelled and everyone then saw how, from the inside of the dead Direwolf, a few pups came, crying and crawling.
"Direwolf's pups?" Brandon asked.
"They are five of them," Edward said.
Lord Stark had a troubled face since he didn't know what to make out of all of it. He was not a godly man. Not a true believer, yet what was happening was just something that made him worry.
"Can we keep them?" Lyanna asked, with an imploring tone.
"They are not dogs, Lyanna. They are beasts who could grow to rip a man's throat," Lord Stark said.
"We can't leave them here," Edward added, and even Brandon had a concerned face.
"We'll keep them safe, father," Brandon said.
"They are not toys," Lord Stark said one more time.
"We know! Please, father!" Lyanna implored again.
"Children…"
"Father," Galadriel finally spoke, and everyone stared at her. "There are five of them… each for one of us. The Direwolf is the symbol of our house. We were meant to have them."
Lord Stark stared at those golden eyes, and for a few minutes, he said nothing. Yet, at the end of it all. He only sighed.
"Each one of you will take care of them. You'll feed them, train them, and if they die. You'll bury them."
The Stark children nodded happily, and with a sigh, Lord Stark only went back to his horse.
Each of the Stark children went ahead and grab their own little pup, and it was strange to see them do that.
"Hey, look at this!" Brandon said.
"Whoa, that's defiantly yours, Gali!" Lyanna added.
"It even looks like you," Eddard said. "All weird and stuff."
Eddard teased and Galadriel only hit him softly in the shoulder. "Don't make fun of me!"
"Sorry, sorry," Eddard replied smiling.
"I don't believe you're sorry," Galadriel drawled.
"You doubt your own twin brother?!" Eddard said, faking hurt.
"Yes."
Galadriel's pup had the same snowy features as her. The small Direwolf had white fur and golden eyes. Galadriel had the same shade of golden, and it was mesmerizing for the children to look at both of them. The little pup only started to lick Galadriel's cheeks as a form of greetings. And Galadriel tilted her head.
"Ah, what a cute wolf," Galadriel whispered.
"How are you going to call him?" Lyanna asked while holding her own little Direwolf in her embrace. It was one of brownish shades of color and gray eyes.
"Ah… Mmhm… I think Honyopenyoko!"
Every single one of the Stark children only stared at her, stunned at such an awful name. The pups only whined in pain as they saw their own sibling being named like that.
"Galadriel, that's cruel," Edward whispered in shame.
"What would you do that? You're horrible," Lyanna said, in shock.
"That poor thing," Brandon added in pain.
"S-Shut up all of you! It's not that bad," Galadriel muttered, but by looking at her pup. It seems they were right.
"Yes, it is!" The children replied at the same time.
"Alright, alright… don't be rude," Galadriel whispered while thinking in a name that would fit. She thought for a while and came up with one name. A rather obvious one, yes, but one that means a lot to her. A simple but great name.
"Yeah… it will suit you… what do you say? Ainz?" Galadriel whispered, and the Direwolf pup licked her cheeks in approval. She giggled and nodded.
"You like it, eh? Good, you're going to protect me, don't you?" Galadriel asked, and the little pup gave a very cute howl. Yet, regardless of everything, the entire event still perplexed Galadriel. She looked at the symbols and thought that, perhaps. Something out there was maybe, on her side. Possibly things were more complicated than she originally thought.
"I do wonder how much things are going to change in a few years?" Galadriel whispered while looking at the sky.
At King's Landing, the hand of the king, Tywin Lannister, sat down quickly on his chair. He was tired and exhausted. The Old Lion wasn't the same as before. Not one bit. One of the hardest years of his life was last year. The death of the love of his life, Joanna, lingers in his mind, with great suffering. The only person, who he allowed to be "normal" or as normal Tywin Lannister, could be. Yet, that wasn't enough, not at all. The gods wanted to teach him a lesson of sorts. Since, from the pain of losing his wife, came another one, and it was the shame of being the father of a dwarf.
Tywin clenched his fist at the thought of his monstrous son. He wanted to kill him with his own hands, but he couldn't do it.
Tywin sat down in his chair and took a sip of wine. He decided to not think of that now. So, he only did the only thing he could do now. Work, and there was a lot of it.
Especially since dealing with the North as a whole. Tywin wasn't a fool. He could see something cooking up there. The new channel of the Fever river was being built, and if things go according to plan. The North would hold, without a doubt, the most important border between the Sunset Sea, the Shivering Sea, and the Narrow Sea. All with just one channel. Tywin knew that merchandise coming from the Summer Sea was always at stake. The bandits and pirates prey upon the Westerlands and the Reach ships. Having the channel would certainly make things easier and safer for them.
Yet, it wasn't all. That would also make the North more powerful. Not only financially, but politically.
Tywin wondered how could he used this for himself and his family. The Stark was an old family. The oldest in Westeros. They control the biggest kingdom, with the biggest natural resources. The new mines of gold and many other minerals just prove it. The North was going to be important to control, and Tywin would not let such a thing slip between his fingers.
"But how?" Tywin muttered.
Truth be told, Tywin thought that a marriage proposal could do the trick. He had to admit. His mind was thinking of having his oldest son, Jaime, marry one of the Tully girls when they come of age. Having the Riverlands as an ally was good to protect his backyard. But now, he thinks that connecting the Westerlands and the North was even more important than before.
Besides, he was interested in the oldest daughter of the Stark family. The now famously called White Wolf of Winterfell. Such a bright mind was responsible for so much change. A young girl, barely any older than his own children. Tywin had to admit. The envy he was feeling for Lord Stark was quite high. His spy's report of how strong Lord Stark's children were. How skilled they were in combat, at a young age. There were some who say how Brandon Stark and Eddard Stark were geniuses, even more than Jaime Lannister. Tywin would have taken that as an insult, since he took pride in knowing that Jaime was a prodigy with the sword, even at such an age.
But a part of him also thought that it was just another reason why. He must make allies with them. A Lannister and Stark union would make them the strongest partners in Westeros. Tywin also believes that, if Jaime and Galadriel Stark marry and had children. Those children would inherit the best part of the Stark and Lannister. He could see it already. Then, Cersei would marry the prince, making a union of Lions and Dragons, and his children would be of Lannister blood, putting the Lannister name in the book of histories for all time.
Tywin smiled at the thoughts of the future.
"I have to move before other houses do.
Tywin whispered, however to his misfortune, things were not going to plan out as he thought. But his upcoming decisions would surely change things forever. Especially when it comes down to the oldest daughter of the Stark family.
Galadriel sighed deeply, as she watched her siblings practice harder than before. Brandon and Eddard have grown so much in just one year, and she wasn't sure if it was because of the potions and items they were using. Not that they knew what those things were. Galadriel just told them they were gifts from her. But, thankfully, her siblings trusted her with little thinking and now. Galadriel could see the results of it.
Pandora's Actor experiment was successful, in a way.
Some items won't work on humans, for a mysterious reason. But they believe it was because of level restraint, or simple class category. It would make sense if that were the case. Galadriel, however, now believes it could also change. Since now they could see that those items that gather experience faster worked really well. And so do potions. Maybe, the rules of the magic of the world differed incredibly from Yggdrasil and the items ended up working completely differently from the game. Yet from what she has seen, for the last year. Those rings Galadriel gave to her siblings worked differently from what she would have expected.
"Back in Yggdrasil, they would use those rings to just gather experience faster while killing a monster. They aren't the only items that worked like that. I remember I have some of those chain necklaces, too. But I can't let my siblings walk around with those things around their necks. Still, things are working not the way I suspected they would."
It seems as if the items only boost a certain aspect of what Galadriel's brother practices. The more they practice swordsmanship and strength, the better they get at it. No level, or something like that. They just get better at it, stronger even. How does she know that? Well, she saw Brandon carrying a great mace last time. A mace that an adult male had to use both hands to carry normally. Brandon just picked it up without much problem with one hand.
So, that means that instead of leveling as she would have expected from Yggdrasil. They just get better at one thing at a time. Interesting. So, as long as they kept on practicing the same routine. They'll become stronger at it. Galadriel now wonders if there was a limit.
"They look incredibly different… like really healthy and strong."
Galadriel muttered while sitting on the edge of a tree, eating her lunch and whatnot. She had quite the time watching Pandora's Actor beating the living crap out of her siblings. He was not hurting them, of course not. But Pandora's Actor was a strict teacher.
"Don't waste your time breathing hard, young Lord," Pandora's Actor told Brandon. "Every time you swing your sword, make sure it counts! Don't waste your energy or your enemy will kill you!"
Brandon nodded, and so did Eddard. Then both young boys proceed to start fighting the treasury guardian with all their might. Galadriel giggled, as she then looked at Lyanna, who was practicing archery on the other side. Galadriel helped Lyanna boost her own power and, to her surprise. Lyanna seems to "level up" or well, improve faster than her siblings. So, it makes Galadriel wonder that, perhaps. Those items worked differently depending on the person. It was strange, but that was her theory. There were a lot of things she wanted to research.
"I hope they forgive me one day for using them for my experiment without their knowledge."
Galadriel muttered, with a bit of guilt. Yet, she knew that it was for the better. No one could know about it. Not even them.
"Aren't you going to practice something, my dear?"
Galadriel looked at her mother, who arrived with little Benjen, who was holding her hand. She just smiled at them.
"No, I am fine… you know, I am not good at physical activities," Galadriel said, lying through her teeth. She had other plans.
"I thought you would, after how much you tried to convince me to let Lyanna practice," Lyarra said with a sigh.
"She is happy like that, mother. You know, Lyanna doesn't want to be a lady," Galadriel giggled.
"I know, I know, I am gathering that. Good thing you're not as crazy as the rest of your siblings."
Galadriel snorted at those words, yet remained quiet. She wanted to give this image of her, of someone vulnerable, naïve, even. It would serve her well, especially dealing with the south. Her spies were already telling her how many would try to control her, one way or another. Well, she would play along, but just going to trap them all in a hole and enjoy watching them slowly fade away. It would be fun.
"Well, I am a lady!" Galadriel said with a teasing smile, as Benjen giggled.
Lyarra then looked at the fighting pit, where her children were training and once again. She sighed.
"You've heard about your father wanting to send Eddard to the Vale, don't you?" Lyarra said softly.
"Yes, I have," Galadriel replied.
"What do you think about it?" Lyarra asked.
Galadriel only thought for a moment before speaking. "It's a good idea in the long run."
"I see…"
Galadriel looked at her mother and saw a face of sadness. She understood why she felt like that. Having Eddard leave them in the next years, was hard. Galadriel has grown very close to him. Incredibly so.
"I don't want him to go, but it's for the best… for the North as a whole and for our family."
Galadriel closed her eyes and looked at the sky.
"Don't worry mother, is still too early. Yes? Let's enjoy our family while we are all together."
"Aye, let's do that."
Galadriel then smiled as she saw Eddard smiling at her, waving his hand before Brandon hit him in the head. The two siblings then started to brawl in the mud, while Pandora's Actor only stared at her with an amused face.
"Those two are going to be the death of me! Brandon! Eddard! Stop this minute!"
Galadriel chuckled while she saw the antics of her family.
"Yes, let's enjoy this for a little longer."
