Chapter 72: The Duel in the Flats
Dylan Riley and the girls were staring at the woman, who Dylan thought was Téa Gardner.
"Dylan, who is Téa?" Nami asked Dylan.
"That's Téa," Dylan said as he points to who he thought was Téa.
Dylan then taps the right temple of his glasses as it starts to scan the girl. Five seconds later, the scan was complete as it was in fact Téa Gardner.
"That is Téa," Dylan said.
"Who's Téa?" Ristarte asked Dylan.
"Téa Gardner, she's a duelist," Dylan said.
"Aww look likes we got a smart ass here," Téa said.
"Shut up," Nami said in anger to Téa.
"What do you mean a duelist?" Karui asked Dylan.
"When I was young, me and a whole bunch of kids were into this trading card game that Téa occasionally plays," Dylan said.
"How does the game work?" Meredy asked Dylan.
"To put it simply, every players have four thousand life points, the first person to knock their opponent's life points to zero wins," Dylan said.
"How do you take away these points?" Botan asked Dylan.
"By using monsters, spell cards, trap cards, it can get very confusing and complicated," Dylan said.
"Have you ever played a match?" Nami asked Dylan.
"Nope I just mainly got the cards to look at them, and then once I got older I got rid of them to a family friend," Dylan said.
Then, they see a red "59" glowing on the upper part of Téa's left arm and then it disappears four seconds later.
"Well the card is inside her," Meredy said.
"It should be easy to defeat her," Dylan said.
"What do you mean?" Nami asked Dylan.
"Téa doesn't have any powers, just go over to her, knock her out, and we'll get the card out of her no problem," Dylan said to Nami.
"Oh I'm going to enjoy it," Nami said as she cracks her knuckles.
"If you are going to defeat me, you'll have to do it in a duel," Téa said to Dylan and his girls.
"You can't be serious," Nami said in an annoyed tone.
"Oh I am, the only way to beat me is in a duel," Téa said with a cocky smile on her face.
"This is some Grade A level bullshit, I'm not going to degrade myself like that," Nami said in an angry tone as Dylan taps her left shoulder.
"Just go along with it Nami, those cards are nothing, it's not like a monster will come out of them," Dylan said to Nami quietly.
"Yeah Nami, it should be fun," Meredy said to Nami.
"And you could beat up Téa to a pulp if you want," Karui said to Nami.
"I'm at a disadvantage, I don't have my Clima-Tact with me," Nami said.
"You still have your hands and feet, you don't need your weapon to defeat her," Dylan said to Nami.
"You're right, I'm just not used to fighting without my prized weapon," Nami said to Dylan.
"But you'll do great no matter what," Dylan said to Nami.
"Oh Dylan, you're so sweet," Nami said to Dylan as she gives him a kiss on his right cheek.
"Ack, that was disgusting," Téa said as she was disgusted by this public display of affection.
"Okay Téa, we'll duel you," Dylan said to Téa.
"But I don't got a deck," Dylan said.
"You don't need a deck for this duel, beside your five ladies will act as his monsters," Téa said to Dylan and the girls as the girls were pissed.
"Did you call us monsters?" Nami asked Téa in anger.
"Oh you are so dead," Karui said to Téa as she pulls out her katana from her sheath.
"Hold on ladies, don't get too ahead of yourselves," Dylan said to Nami and Karui.
"I'm not offended, I'm a shinigami after all," Botan said.
"And I'm a goddess, not a monster," Ristarte said.
"I don't really care, I have been through enough hell that someone calling me a monster isn't that bad," Meredy said.
"Well I'm ready for this duel," Dylan said.
"Oh you are going to be in for a wild ride," Téa said to Dylan.
Ten minutes later, Dylan and Téa were getting ready as they were standing twelve feet apart.
Over on Dylan's side, Karui was in the center, Botan was to Karui's left and Meredy was to Karui's right, and finally Nami was to Botan's left and Ristarte was to Meredy's right. Meanwhile, Téa's side of the field was empty.
"Dylan you sure this is a good idea?" Nami asked Dylan.
"This is the best idea, I put the strongest in the middle, the second strongest next to her, and you and Rista to the outside due to your low power, sorry," Dylan said to Nami.
"Oh I hope this idea of yours works," Nami said to Dylan in a slightly angry tone.
"I'll try," Dylan said.
"You ready?" Téa asked Dylan.
"Oh I am," Dylan said.
"Let's duel," Dylan and Téa said as the duel was underway.
Dylan notices there was no screen to show life points or Téa didn't have a special device for her duelling.
"What's going on, where are my life points?" Dylan asked Téa.
"Oh this isn't a regular duel, there is no life points in this one," Téa said to Dylan.
"How does that even work?" Dylan asked Téa in confusion.
"Oh you won't have to worry, you'll not last long," Téa said as she pulls out her deck of cards.
"I don't care what, I won't be backing down," Dylan said.
Téa then looks at the cards in her hands, doing it in a way as she was playing poker or go fish. She then sees two cards that were perfect to use here.
"Oh perfect," Téa said as she pulls out two cards.
"I call out Happy Lover and Petit Angel to the field," Téa said as the two normal monsters known as Happy Lover and Petit Angel appear on the field.
"Now, go and take out the orange haired girl and that goddess," Téa said to her monsters.
The two monsters rush over to Nami and they get her with a tackle. Soon, Dylan feels the hit as he holds his stomach in pain.
"The hell?" Dylan asked in shock.
Then, the two monsters rush over to Ristarte and nail her with a tackle, which Dylan feels in his stomach as he falls to one knee.
"Fuck, that hurt," Dylan said in pain as the monsters back up a bit.
"That's not part of the game," Dylan said in anger as he gets on his feet and moves his hands off his stomach.
"What's with the double attacks?" Dylan asked Téa.
"In this duel, there are no rules, I can attack whoever I please," Téa said.
"Well that would make it simpler, a bit," Dylan said quietly.
"Also, if your girls get hit or if my monsters get destroyed, we will each receive damage depending on power," Téa said to Dylan as the girls in Dylan's group gulped in fear.
"Oh shit," Ristarte said in fear.
"We have to be careful," Meredy said to the girls.
"Yeah, I don't want Dylan to get severely injured by those beasts," Nami said.
"Not if I have anything to do with it," Dylan said.
"Nami, Rista, take out those two monsters," Dylan said to Nami and Ristarte.
"Got it," Nami said.
"Understood," Ristarte said as she and Nami race to the monsters.
Nami nails an axe kick to Petit Angel, taking it down and destroying it. While, Ristarte nails an elbow to Happy Lover, followed by a slam, destroying it as well.
Téa then feels the attack as two scratches appear on her left upper arm, and one scratch on her right knee.
"Alright we did damage," Ristarte said in a happy tone.
"Yeah but not a lot of damage," Nami said as she and Ristarte step back a bit.
"You may have inflict some minor damage to me, but that won't keep me down," Téa said to Dylan as she pulls out a few more cards.
"I summon Shining Friendship and Magician of Faith to the field," Téa said as she summons the two monsters, Shining Friendship and Magician of Faith to the battlefield.
"But that's not the end of it," Téa said as she pulls out another card from her hand.
"I equip the magic card, Silver Bow and Arrow, for Shining Friendship," Téa said as Shining Friendship was now holding a very fancy bow and arrow.
"With this, Shining Friendship's power and defence increases by three hundred points," Téa said.
"An increase like that, big deal," Ristarte said as she felt like she could beat the monsters easily.
"But that's not all," Téa said as she pulls out another card from her hand.
"I equip Magician of Faith with the magic card, Elf's Light, this increases Magician of Faith's power by four hundred points and her defence by two hundred points," Téa said as Magician of Faith had a glow to her.
"This may be hard," Ristarte said.
"You're wrong, they are not powerful monsters, they could be taken out easy," Dylan said to Ristarte.
"Now Nami, take out Shining Friendship," Dylan said to Nami.
"You got it," Nami said as she runs over to Shining Friendship.
"I hope this works, it might be crazy, but it might work," Dylan thought.
"Don't even try, Shining Friendship, attack her," Téa said to her monster.
Shining Friendship then fires off four bows, one in each of Nami's shoulder blades and two in Nami's stomach.
Nami groans in pain as she falls to one knee. Dylan then hisses in pain as he felt something hit his shoulder blades as he didn't know that there was two small gashes on them.
"Oh god it hurts," Dylan said in pain over his wounds.
"Now, Magician of Faith, inflict more damage to her," Téa said to Magician of Faith.
Magician of Faith runs over to Nami and then nails a few punches to her. She then follows it up with a kick as this sends Nami back to Dylan's side.
Dylan then feels the pain in his stomach as he holds it in pain. He then lifts up his shirt to see two bruises on his stomach.
"Oh god that hurt," Dylan said as he lowers his shirt.
"Dylan, that was so fucking stupid," Nami said to Dylan in anger as she pulls the bows out of her body.
"Hey, this is my first duel so cut me some slack," Dylan said to Nami as Nami stands on her feet.
"Okay, let me try something else," Dylan said as he was thinking of something.
After fifteen seconds, Dylan had got an idea.
"Okay, change of plans," Dylan said.
"Botan, take out Magician of Faith, and Meredy go take out Shining Friendship," Dylan said to Botan and Meredy.
"Got it Dylan," Botan said to Dylan.
"Anything for you," Meredy said to Dylan as she and Botan race over to the monsters.
Botan then pulls out an oar and then she swings away at Magician of Faith.
After five strikes, Magician of Faith is destroyed and Téa is left with three scratches on her right cheek.
"Oh damn," Téa said in pain.
"My turn," Meredy said as she summons a few dozen yellow blades.
"Maguilty Sodom," Meredy said as the yellow blades fly towards Shining Friendship.
The blades hit Shining Friendship, destroying it as Téa is left with a three inch long gash on her stomach.
"AH," Téa screamed in pain as her blood was seeping onto her shirt.
"Awesome, nice job Botan and Meredy," Dylan said to Botan and Meredy as Botan returns to Dylan's battle area.
"Damn that hurt, but not for long," Téa said as she pulls out two cards from her hand.
"I call to the field, Stone Dragon and Sand Stone," Téa said as she summons the two powerful monsters to the field.
"Oh god they are big," Ristarte said in shock over the size the monsters.
"And that dragon, it feels so powerful," Nami said.
"That Sand Stone won't stand a chance against Karui," Dylan said.
"Now Karui, go and take out Sand Stone," Dylan said to Karui.
"Right," Karui said as she readies her katana.
"Take this you dangerous earth creature," Karui said to Sand Stone as she rushes over to it.
Karui then swings her katana at Sand Stone, but Sand Stone dodges the attacks.
After four swings, Sand Stone nail a slash to Karui's stomach, leaving three claw like gashes on her. Dylan then hisses in pain as a three inch long gash appears on his left forearm.
"God that hurt," Dylan said as he holds his left arm in pain.
Then, Sand Stone nails one of it's tentacles at Karui, slamming her into the ground. That move cause Dylan to groan in pain as a large bruise formed on his belly.
"Karui, take it out," Dylan said to Karui.
"I'm trying," Karui said to Dylan.
Soon, Karui escapes the creature's grasp and stands on her feet with katana in hand.
Karui then swings her katana and slices Sand Stone repeatedly with it.
After five slices, Sand Stone is destroyed and Téa could feel something break in her body.
"GAH," Téa screamed in pain as she holds her stomach in pain.
"I think she broke a rib," Nami said.
"Oh more than one with that scream," Dylan said as Karui returns to Dylan's side of the field.
"Okay, Stone Dragon, destroy that ninja bitch," Téa said to Stone Dragon in anger.
Stone Dragon rushes over to Karui, hoping to take her out for good.
"If this battle has no rules, I should exploit it," Dylan said.
"Karui, dodge the attacks," Dylan said to Karui.
"Got it," Karui said.
Stone Dragon tries to attack Karui, but Karui dodges the attack.
"If I can't get the ninja, I'll get everyone else," Téa said.
"Stone Dragon, take out the other girls in that fat asshole's group," Téa said to Stone Dragon.
"Okay girls, dodge the attacks," Dylan said to the girls in his group.
Then, Stone Dragon tries to attack the other girls, but they dodge it's attacks.
"This dragon is crazy powerful," Nami said.
"Me and Botan can try to take it out, I mean our combined power should destroy it," Meredy said.
"I bet this beast can't get me from the sky," Ristarte said as she summons her wings and flies up high into the air.
"Rista don't, it's a dragon," Dylan said to Ristarte as Stone Dragon flies up into the air as well.
"And she did it," Dylan said as he knew that would happen.
Stone Dragon tries to attack Ristarte, but Ristarte was dodging it's attacks.
Ten seconds later, Stone Dragon grabs Ristarte by one of it's claws.
"Oh shit," Ristarte said in a scared tone.
Stone Dragon then throws Ristarte out of it's claws and lands hard on the ground, leaving a four foot wide crater as blood was leaking down the right side of Ristarte's face and there was a five inch long gash across her right thigh.
"Oh my god, Rista," Dylan said in horror to Rista.
Then, Dylan could feel his right arm breaking.
"Gah, my arm," Dylan said in pain.
Then, a five inch long gash runs down Dylan's right thigh as he hisses in pain and blood seeps onto his jeans.
"Oh god, my leg," Dylan said in pain.
Then, Stone Dragon flies down and was heading towards Nami, which Dylan's notices.
"Nami, look out," Dylan said to Nami.
But the warning came too late as Stone Dragon grabs Nami and flies her fifteen feet up in the air.
"Let go of me," Nami said to Stone Dragon as she was trying to escape it's grasp.
Then, the Stone Dragon flies down and slams Nami hard onto the ground. The creature lets go as Nami was coughing up blood and four three inch long gashes appear on her back, the blood seeping onto the back of her shirt.
"Oh god," Botan said in horror.
"NAMI," Meredy shouted in horror to Nami.
Dylan then feels his right foot breaking as he falls onto his ass.
"Oh fuck, my foot," Dylan said in pain.
Then, two four inch long gashes appear on Dylan's right knee in a "X" shape as Dylan screams in pain and blood was appearing on his jeans.
"Oh god, the pain is horrible," Dylan said in pain as Téa had an arrogant smile on her face.
"What's the matter you fat fuck, do you give up?" Téa asked Dylan in a cocky tone.
"No, even sitting down we won't back down, and we will beat you," Dylan said to Téa.
"If one attack can't take down a dragon, maybe a combined attack would," Dylan said.
"Botan, Meredy, combine your attack power and take down Stone Dragon," Dylan said to Botan and Meredy.
"Got it," Botan said as she puts on her Concentration Ring.
Botan then puts all her energy into her body as she was ready to unleash one powerful attack.
"Okay, time to put down this dragon," Meredy said as she summons a few dozen teal blades.
After fifteen seconds, Botan and Meredy were ready to take down Stone Dragon.
"Ready Meredy?" Botan asked Meredy.
"I am," Meredy said as she and Botan point towards Stone Dragon.
"Maguilty Spirt Sodom Gun," Botan and Meredy said as Botan launches a big beam of ki energy, while Meredy launches the teal blades at Stone Dragon.
The attack lands on Stone Dragon as it knocks the creature back, landing right near Téa.
Stone Dragon tries to get back up, but the attack did some significant damage and it was hard for the creature to get back up.
"Alright Karui here is your chance, go and take out Stone Dragon," Dylan said to Karui.
"You got it Dylan," Karui said to Dylan and then she rushes over to Stone Dragon.
Karui then swings away on Stone Dragon with her katana, slicing the creature.
After seven slices, Stone Dragon gets destroyed as Karui steps back a bit.
"Oh no, Stone Dragon," Téa said.
Téa then screams in pain as four five inch long gashes appear straight down on Téa's back.
Téa then collapses to her knees as the blood leak onto the back of her shirt.
"Alright we are getting close," Botan said in an excited tone.
"If we beat one more creature, we should knock Téa out," Meredy said as Ristarte and Nami get back on their feet and rejoin the group.
"I got a better idea," Dylan said.
"What is it?" Karui asked Dylan.
"Hey Nami, Rista, how are you two feeling?" Dylan asked Nami and Ristarte.
"Good," Ristarte said.
"I can still fight," Nami said.
"Well the idea is for you two to attack Téa directly," Dylan said to Nami and Ristarte.
"And it will work?" Nami asked Dylan.
"Yeah, they do it in duels all the time," Dylan said.
"Alright, if you say so," Ristarte said to Dylan.
"Okay, Nami and Ristarte, attack Téa directly," Dylan said to Nami and Ristarte.
"On it," Ristarte said.
"Let's go Rista," Nami said to Ristarte as they rush over to Téa.
"I'm not going to go down without a fight," Téa said as she pulls out two cards from her hand.
"I summon to the field, Darklord Marie and The Forgiving Maiden," Téa said as she summons those two monsters to her field.
"And that's not all," Téa said as she pulls out another card from her hand.
"I use the spell card, Polymerization," Téa said as she use that spell card.
"And I fuse Darklord Marie and The Forgiving Maiden into St. Joan," Téa said as the two monsters combine into this woman knight known as St. Joan.
St. Joan then swings her sword at Nami and Ristarte, but the two girls jump out of the way.
"Hold back on the attacks St. Joan," Téa said to her monster as she pulls out two more cards from her hand.
"I summon to the field next, Giant Solider of Stone and Ancient Elf," Téa said as she summons those two monsters to the field.
Téa then pulls out another card from her hand as she was looking to stack the field.
"I use another Polymerization spell card to fuse Giant Solider of Stone and Ancient Elf into Mystical Sand," Téa said as the two monsters fuse into this beautiful witch.
"Oh shit we are so screwed," Ristarte said in a scared tone.
"It's just two monsters, we can take them out no problem," Karui said as Téa pulls out another card from her hand.
"I use the spell card, Monster Reborn, and I'm bringing back to the field, Stone Dragon," Téa said as Stone Dragon returns to Téa's side of the field.
"Oh fuck," Karui said in anger.
"This is not what we expected," Meredy said.
"With all that power, we don't stand a chance against her," Nami said.
"I got the most powerful monsters on my side and your side is no match against it," Téa said to Dylan.
"So, do you give up?" Téa asked Dylan in a cocky tone.
Dylan was in some intense pain, but he wasn't going to cave in to Téa.
"I won't give in, we are going to beat you Téa and we are going to get you back to normal," Dylan said to Téa as Téa snarls over that line.
"Oh god we need a miracle and fast," Dylan thought.
Meanwhile, Secre Swallowtail (who was still in her anti-bird form) was flying away with some sort of white and orange baton in her mouth.
"Hang on Dylan, hang on ladies, I'm coming, just hold out a little longer," Secre thought as she flies over towards the direction of the battle.

Oh this doesn't look good for Dylan and the girls as Téa just went all out with two fusion monsters and a powerful returning monster on the field, this could be bloody. About Téa's deck, it is a mixture used in the anime and in the video games. Also it seems Secre is bringing something to the battle and hopefully this will even the playing field.
