Chapter 1

As detective Fredo left the hospital he saw a group apparently waiting for news that Erica Kane would be okay. Her daughters Bianca and Kendall, her husband Jackson, Bianca's girlfriend and friend Marissa were here, along with Marissa's mother Krystal. A thought occured to Gary Fredo, the killer wanted him to have the sonogram. At the party Bianca asked Maggie to taste her drinks, make sure they were non alcoholic. Maybe Bianca was pregnant, if that was the case it was obviously from the rape. But the sonogram the killer left was over a year old, it couldn't be from a current pregnancy. Jackson had made clear that detective Fredo was not to talk to any member of his family if he wasn't present, so he just asked to speak to them both.

Fredo: Bianca Montgomery, may I please have a word with you?
Jackson: Not without me present.
Fredo: By all means, the three of us could have a little chat in the hospital cafeteria.
Jackson: Why not right here?
Fredo: In case anything comes up, something you might be bound to keep secret by attorney client privilege.
Bianca: It's fine, we can all go to the cafeteria.

The three of them went down to the hospital cafeteria and went to a private spot to talk and tried to keep their voices low.

Bianca: I didn't kill Greenlee. Kendall and Maggie were with me just after the fire alarm went off.
Fredo: I have no doubt that they will vouch for you. Something else, I believe the killer sent me a message. It involved a prenatal sonogram.
Bianca: You're wondering if I'm pregnant. The answer is yes.
Jackson: You are? I thought you ended your pregnancy.
Bianca: I almost did. But when it came right down to it, I just couldn't go through with it. My mother was pressuring me to have an abortion, but despite everything I do love this child. I never lied, I just didn't tell her everything.
Fredo: How many people know that you're still pregnant?
Bianca: David, because he's my doctor. Maggie and Kendall, and now you and uncle Jack.
Jackson: I can consider this attorney client privilege, what about you detective?
Fredo: I don't plan on calling the tabloids. But this does give Bianca more motive to kill these people.
Bianca: You think I killed three people to protect my baby. I might have, but I didn't.
Jackson: How exactly did the killer access Bianca's private medical records? Perhaps I'm biased, but maybe David is the killer.
Fredo: He might be, but the sonogram I received is over a year old, so it's not Bianca's. But the killer might know that Bianca is with child, and want me to know about it. Before this conversation there were four people who knew she was still pregnant, we can't rule out the possibility that any of them told someone else.
Jackson: You say the sonogram was over a year old?
Fredo: Yes, why?
Jackson: About a year ago, Kystal's daughter disappeared.
Fredo: Marissa disappeared?
Jackson: Not Marissa, Babe. Her name was Arabelle, but everyone called her Babe.
Fredo: Krystal has another daughter?
Jackson: They were twins, but Babe and Krystal had some sort of falling out. Krystal didn't like Babe dating Michael Cambias. Babe might have left town, but that was also around the time there was a fire at the Sunrise Club.
Fredo: You mean the Sunset Club?
Jackson: No, the Sunrise Club was Reggie's first club, and there was a fire. One person died, but before an autopsy could be performed the body was cremated. Deputy JR Chandler came in with documents, claiming the family wanted the body cremated. He later claimed it was a clerical error. Whatever happened it made certain the dead person could never be identified.
Fredo: So you think Michael Cambias got this girl pregnant, then had her murdered to avoid paying child support?
Jackson: I think so. I'm not completely certain that the deceased girl was Krystal's daughter, but maybe whoever killed three people is trying to avenge that girl.
Fredo: There was writing on the sonogram, a reference to fire, this is starting to make sense.

Detective Fredo went to speak with Krystal.

Fredo: Krystal, do you wish to speak with a lawyer?
Krystal: Why would I need a lawyer?
Fredo: Because I'm about to ask you a few questions, and I still consider you a suspect in these murders.
Krystal: I didn't kill anyone, so just ask your questions?
Fredo: Your daughter Babe, she dated Michael Cambias.
Krystal: We all make mistakes.
Fredo: Babe disappeared the same time as someone died in the fire at the Sunrise Club.
Krystal: Babe and I had a big argument and she left town three days before that fire.
Fredo: Is there any chance Babe was pregnant at the time?
Krystal: No. As mad as we were at each other, she would have told me if I were a grandmother. And if she lost the baby she would have asked me to comfort her. You think Michael killed my daughter and I'm avenging her death.
Fredo: The thought crossed my mind yes.
Krystal: Let me guess, Erica told you Babe was murdered.
Fredo: Any reason she would want me looking in your direction?
Krystal: So you won't look in her direction. There's a reason Erica has never really accepted Kendall as her daughter.
Fredo: My understanding is that Erica got pregnant at a young age after being raped, and put her daughter up for adoption.
Krystal: About a year and a half ago another woman, Sarah, came to Pine Valley, claiming to be the daughter Erica gave up for adoption. Sarah also made the mistake of dating Michael Cambias. I never did see Sarah after the fire at the Sunrise Club. If you think the victim was pregnant, Sarah could have been.
Fredo: You're saying that Michael murdered one of Erica's daughters, and raped the other daughter.
Krystal: Maybe. Kendall said that she and Sarah were both incarcerated at a juvenile detention facility, they were even cellmates. Kendall claimed that she told Sarah her plan to confront her birth mother, but Sarah got out first and tried to con Erica. I honestly don't know if Sarah or Kendall was the baby Erica gave birth to.
Fredo: Still, it is worth looking into.
