Santana manages to avoid Brittany for most of the day, but to be honest, she lurks around the woman all the time, and watches her from where she knows she won't be seen. She also watches her godson, Leo, or whatever. The boy is good, like really good, and even if they don't seem to be blood related (the boy is as black as they come), he has clearly the same charisma than Brittany has. And she is...something else. Not only is she drop dead gorgeous, but her movements are fluid like a ballerina's, her mannerisms are childish but cute, her energy bursts out of her every pore... Santana is quite confused about how drawn she is to this woman all of a sudden when she is just getting divorced and letting her own body feel all these feelings she has had for women all her life.

Actually, thinking about it, that could be a plausible reason, the fact that she is letting herself feel for once, and not a stupid girl-crush she has on her doctor. What are you? Fifteen?

Also she would have never guessed Brittany was a doctor, let alone a gynecologist, if she didn't know beforehand seeing her today. She could have guessed her being a dancer, a soccer coach, maybe a track and field athlete? A kinder garden teacher suits her, too. But never a doctor. Santana just hopes she is as good as Sugar said.

The day is finally coming to an end. Children and their families are getting the animals back in their right places for the night. The day, as usual, has been a success. Almost all of the kids in the tryouts have gotten some kind of interesting opportunity that will for sure enlighten their future if they continue pursuing sports, and there has been a total of 56 adoptions, which is really great for one evening, and gives Santana a little bit of free space for more unfortunate abandonment victims. It's sad that there is still 279 lovely souls waiting for a forever family.

Almost everyone is gone now. Santana's friends are walking out the few last people and she is finishing putting the chairs and tables in the storage room.

"Ms. Lopez?" Santana hears a soft child-like voice behind her. When she turns around she finds Brittany with her godson. She has him held by his hand and the boy is holding, with his other hand, a leash that finishes in the oldest dog she has at the shelter. It's a very quiet 12 years old light brown pit bull called Andrea. Santana can't help but smile.

"Yes, young man?" She asks, trying to focus her attention on him and not on Brittany, but she can't seem to control how her eyes move every few seconds to find ocean blue orbs and stay locked there for a moment too long.

Leo lets go of Brittany's hand and walks closer to Santana. When he is about to speak again, he frowns, though, and he turns back towards Brittany.

"You tell her. Why do I have to?" He says huffing and Santana manages to miraculously keep a straight face as she looks at Brittany with an eyebrow raised.

Brittany looks like a deer caught in headlights.

"I...want to adopt Andrea..." She says, and for some reason, Santana thinks she just made that up on the fly. Judging by Leo's snort, she might be right.

Either way, Brittany goes with it with dignity, walking towards Leo and taking the leash from him. Truth to be told, Andrea seems to be utterly in love with Brittany.

"I want to take Andrea home with me." She repeats, with way more conviction this time. Santana smiles and bites her lower lip flirtatiously.

"Okay, let's go to my office then." Santana almost whispers as she bats her eyelashes bashfully. The way Brittany is slightly leaning towards her and doesn't seem to be able to look anywhere else but at Santana's lips doesn't go unnoticed by the brunette. Nor Leo, who is now making gagging noises. This time Santana can't hold back a chuckle.

Santana behaves herself for once during the few minutes that the process of the adoption lasts. Just a couple of papers filled and signed, a little bit of food and Andrea's favorite toy packed, and Brittany is free to go with her new partner. It really looks like they belong together, like they have been together for a whole lifetime.

Outside of the office, Leo is waiting impatiently. When both women come out, he runs to Brittany and takes Andrea's leash again, then starts running towards the exit. When he is a few feet away, he stops and turns around looking at Santana with a smirk. For a split second Santana can't help thinking the boy is going to be a total heartthrob when he grows up.

"What my godmother wanted me to tell you, is that you are really beautiful!" He almost yells with a snicker, and from her side eye Santana can see Brittany blushing profusely. "She is right, though, you really are!" He adds before turning around again and leaving for good this time.

"I'm sorry, he is unbelievable." Santana hears Brittany say, and before she can react in any way, or reply how she would have, Brittany is already walking off quickly behind her godson.

Finally everyone is gone for good, every animal back in their own cage, everyone fed and everything clean. Quinn, Sugar, Puck and Tina are already waiting for Santana at her office.

"Finally, we are starving." Sugar says when she meets them there.

Santana is trying to act normal, but she is starting to lose her cool. She really is nervous about the conversation she needs to have with her gang.

"Let's go, then. I made a reservation at Molly's." She mumbles.

As they are all leaving, Quinn gets close to her and wraps an arm around her own.

"Are you okay?" She asks. Santana knows Quinn is worried just by the way her eyebrows are ever so slightly furrowed.

"Later." Santana says and frees herself from Quinn's grip, walking faster and joining the others as they walk towards their favorite diner.
