The Koopalings' Halftime Challenge
The Koopalings were buzzing with excitement as they settled into their seats at Mario Stadium. The Mario Fireballs were facing off against the Yoshi Islanders in an intense basketball game. The crowd roared with every basket, and the Koopalings were on the edge of their seats, cheering and jeering with every play.
As the first half of the game drew to a close, an announcement boomed over the stadium speakers. "Ladies and gentlemen, get ready for our halftime free throw shooting contest! One lucky contestant will have the chance to win up to 1,000,000 coins!"
The Koopalings' eyes widened in unison. "Did you hear that?" Larry exclaimed. "We could win a million coins!"
"But only one of us gets to shoot," Wendy pointed out, her eyes narrowing. "How do we decide who it is?"
Just then, a Lakitu referee floated down from the sky, holding a scoreboard with seven hidden names. "To make it fair, the contestant will be chosen randomly," Lakitu announced. "The names are hidden, and the scoreboard will reveal the lucky Koopaling at the start of halftime."
The Koopalings exchanged nervous glances. Each of them secretly hoped to be the chosen one, but they knew it was all up to chance now.
The buzzer sounded, signaling the end of the first half. The players left the court, and the crowd's attention turned to the scoreboard. The tension was palpable as the names began to shuffle on the screen.
"Here we go," Ludwig muttered, crossing his fingers.
The names spun faster and faster until they finally stopped, revealing the chosen Koopaling: Iggy!
"Yes!" Iggy shouted, jumping up from his seat. "This is my chance!"
The other Koopalings cheered him on, though some couldn't hide their disappointment. Iggy made his way to the court, where Lakitu handed him the basketball.
"Remember, Iggy," Lakitu said, "One good free throw earns you 100,000 coins, two good throws get you 200,000, and if you make all three, you win 1,000,000 coins for all seven of you!"
Iggy nodded, taking a deep breath. He stepped up to the free throw line, the crowd watching in anticipation. He dribbled the ball a few times, then took his first shot.
Swish! The ball sailed through the hoop, and the crowd erupted in cheers.
"One down, two to go," Iggy thought, feeling a surge of confidence. He lined up his second shot and released the ball.
Swish! Another perfect shot.
The stadium was electric with excitement. Iggy could hardly believe it. He had one more shot to make for the grand prize. He took a deep breath, focused on the hoop, and let the ball fly.
Swish! The ball went through the net, and the crowd went wild. Iggy had done it!
Lakitu floated over, beaming. "Congratulations, Iggy! You made all three! You've won 1,000,000 coins for you and your siblings!"
The Koopalings rushed onto the court, lifting Iggy onto their shoulders in celebration. They couldn't believe their luck. Thanks to Iggy's incredible shooting, they were all millionaires!
As the second half of the game began, the Koopalings returned to their seats, grinning from ear to ear. They knew this was a day they would never forget.
