Chapter 24 The Brave and the bold
Its been a month since General Wells new machines to fight side by side with the Titans was revealed.
Since then a various amount of these machines were built to fight beside the Titans when the Kaiju showed up.
The only ones against it were General Eiling and Simons since both hated the Titans so much despite the good they've been doing.
Right now however though.
"OW!" Leone yelled in pain as she was injected with something. "I hate needles." Leone pouted.
"HAHAHAHAHA! Oh suck it up ya big baby." Sean said.
"It's just a procedure to see what your immune to." Emma said looking at her Biofeedback.
"I thought all of us were immune to to everything." Rias said.
"Almost anything. Man made things could still harm you. Though your bodies would eventually begin to resist whatever those are and pass them down to your bloodline." Emma said.
"Speaking of which." Leone said looking at Sean with a grin making him sigh.
"Oh are they still pressing you on that?" Emma asked since they all knew.
"What do you think? A new generation of Titan Proxies the old fashioned way? How can they not press for that. Their beginning to request it happen with at least one of us by the end of the year." Sean said.
"Well, I can't blame them for that part. Still I would prefer they let you choose when to have kids." Emma said.
"Speaking of Kids hows Madison since...You know." Sean said making her sigh.
"She's managing. I personally blame Eiling for letting the MUTOs go since if that didn't happen, Andrew would still be alive." Emma said thinking of her now dead son.
"And Mark?" Sean asked.
"Drinking his problems away. Not that I blame him considering." Emma said as they left.
"You knew her son pretty good didn't you?" Rias asked.
"Andrew and Madison. I was like an Older sibling to them. It hurts losing those you care about at such a young age." Sean said.
"Yeah." Leone said.
Later
"So remind me again why are we in Ukraine?" Sean asked as they landed.
"After Putin's little stunt he got thrown out of office when the Titans pushed his forces back when the New Apex level Titan woke up. This one is known as Uria. Lord of Searing flames." Emma said on the comms.
"If I recall correctly before Putin could even drop his little bombs he woke up and blasted them back. After that the united Nations forced him to resign and sentenced him to prison." Sean said.
"Thats right. And we have reason to believe a Proxy was just chosen as well. Which is why your there." Emma said.
"All right. Lets get going." Sean said as he, Korra, Diana and Leone walked off into the City.
"So why did he invade the place anyway?" Korra asked.
"For dumb idiotic reasons. Hence the reason he's in jail now because of that stunt. Add to the fact the Titans interfered also made it clear his selfish ambitions would be out of his reach with them around knowing he couldn't do anything to them without the whole world turning on him." Sean said.
"I'm amazed people like him get into office." Diana said.
"You'd be surprised how it happens." Sean said before they saw a large amount of blue flames in the air before it turned into a serpent.
"I think we just found our new Proxy." Leone said as they walked to the source.
Arriving at some crowd they saw a woman around Korra's age with blue flames coming out of her palms performing in front of people. She had white skin black hair and amber gold eyes in more casual clothing.
"I'd say we just found her." Sean said as they walked to her before she noticed them and grins.
"Well, I had a feeling someone was gonna show up for me."
"Expecting us?" Sean asked.
"Hard not to since I've heard this before. New Proxy appears you guys come to find him or her and sometimes those Robots show up to try and kill the new Proxy curtesy of that asshole Simons."
"Right on the mark." Korra said impressed.
"Name's Azula." Azula said.
"You don't look like your from around here." Sean said.
"I'm not. I was just visiting when that idiot attacked or rather tried. Then I woke up one day with these powers." Azula said showing the blue flames.
"And clearly got the hang of it real quick." Leone said.
"I'm always a quick study." Azula said.
"Sean we got a problem." Emma said on the comms.
"Yeah go ahead." Sean said.
"Wally just got arrested for stealing some Isotopes that he and Lantern saved earlier today." Emma said.
"Why would he do that?" Sean asked.
"Thats what you need to find out. Send our new Proxy here. I'll have Randa set up training for her." Emma said.
Later
Sean and Wally walked out of the police station after bailing him out.
"The hell is wrong with you?" Sean asked.
"I didn't do anything. The last thing I remember is chasing some Gorilla before he talked and..." Wally tried to say.
"Wait...It talked?" Sean asked.
"Yeah. Big white Gorilla drove a car and crashed because of me. Then thats it. Nothing else." Wally said making him raise an eyebrow.
"Do you remember where you first found him?" Sean asked.
"Sure." Wally said.
Arriving at the park they noticed the cops around.
"Guess he's still at large." Kid Flash said before Lantern flew down.
"I heard something about a Gorilla on the loose." Lantern said.
"Not your average." Sean said as they walked to a tunnel. "I'm gonna count to five and you don't come out I'm blasting your white furred ass with Atomic breath. One." Sean counted.
"All right. Relax."
Walking outside was the Gorilla surprising KF and Lantern.
"It's been a long time Kruger."
"A couple years or so." Sean said.
"I'm sorry but do you two know each other?" Lantern asked confused.
"His name is Solovar. He's the Chief of Security in Gorilla City. And before you say anything need I remind you Atlantis exists." Sean said.
"Fair point." Lantern said.
"Monarch has known about Gorilla City for a few years now. While normally we don't allow humans anywhere near the City Much less inside we do let them in when it comes to the Titans." Solovar said.
"So you have one too?" Lantern asked.
"Of course." Solovar said.
"So why are you here?" Sean asked.
"One of our own has betrayed Gorilla City. He attempted to control it all with highly advanced mind control. Fortunatly we were able to stop him in time before he could finish his plans but he escaped. It wasn't till later we also discovered he stole our security plans and the layout of it all." Solovar said.
"Why didn't you contact us?" Sean asked.
"From what I understand you've had your hands full these last couple years. I figured you'd be too busy and thought I could handle it on my own." Solovar said.
"Clearly that wasn't the case." Lantern said.
"I underestimated the lengths Grodd went to in order to keep his location a secret. Fortunately I got lucky and hit a good lead." Solovar said going to a bush which was a hologram before a hovercraft appeared before he pulled out some documents. "I've tracked down a contact of his. Some Scientist named Dr. Sarah Corwin." Solovar said showing her photo.
"Why am I not surprised. Woman looks like the type to work for someone like this." Sean said.
"That might explain the thefts of the Isotopes." Lantern said.
"He needs them to power his devices." Solovar said.
"We better call in the others." Sean said.
"I can handle this myself." KF said dashing off.
"Fucking moron." Sean said rubbing his face.
"Kid's fast." Solovar said.
"Is there anything else?" Sean asked before he pulled out some headband.
"For those unlike you they need to wear these headbands to protect them from his mind control device." Solovar said.
"Radiation protection?" Sean asked.
"Something like that." Solovar said putting one on as did Lantern before they rushed off.
Arriving at the lab they busted the walls down before seeing KF down.
"Fucking moron." Sean said.
"Well, it's been a long time Kruger." Grodd said.
"Grodd. I always knew there was something wrong about you." Sean said.
"You did always have good instincts. Lets see how they work on someone fast." Grodd said using his mind control device on Wally before he dashed at them knocking Solovar out.
"Fuck." Sean said before he and Lantern fought him while Grodd and Corwin left.
Sean grew increasingly annoyed since he couldn't hit Wally before closing his eyes and waited before his eyes glowed and blasted him with Atomic breath knocking him out.
"That worked." Lantern said before Solovar came to.
"Lets find Grodd and get out of here." Sean said.
Grodd and Corwin were in some part of the lab where a large machine was powering up.
"Lets depart my dear." Grodd said.
"I don't think so." Sean said.
"You have bigger things to worry about. And I have a City to destroy." Grodd said activating his device.
"OH SHIT!" Sean yelled as an energy shield engulfed them along with the entire city.
Minutes later
Sean woke up with a groan before looking around and woke up the others.
"What happened?" Lantern asked.
"I don't know. I don't think that device was intended to kill us though." Sean said before Wally groaned making him glare before putting the device on his head and smacked him.
"OW! What was that for?" Wally asked before seeing Sean's glare. "Oh man what did I do now?" Wally asked.
"Rushed into Danger like an idiot and got mind controlled by Grodd and attacked us. How does Barry put up with you?" Sean asked making him groan.
"I can't contact the watch tower or Monarch HQ." Lantern said.
"Give you one guess why." Solovar said seeing some shield around the City.
"Tell me thats not what I think it is." Sean said.
"You guessed it. It's the same kind of shield used around Gorilla City. Nothing can get in or out." Solovar said.
"Great. So we can't contact either the League or Monarch for backup." Lantern said.
"So for now all we can do is do our best until we can get some help." Sean said.
Outside the City
Diana along with Hawkgirl, J'onn, Korra, Rias and Saya landed outside the shield.
"What is this thing?" Korra asked placing her hands on the shield.
"A highly powerful shield if I had to guess." Saya said.
"J'onn, can you phase through?" Diana asked.
"I doubt he can. This thing is more advanced than it looks. The odds are nothing can get in from the outside unless invited in." Saya said.
"I think she's right." Rias said as Hawkgirl was about to smash it before she stopped her. "And I don't think thats gonna work either." Rias said.
"You got any better ideas?" Hawkgirl asked.
"Working on it." Saya said pulling out a device to scan the thing. "Yeah it's covering the City in both the air, Ground and Underground. Not even phasing through it will work." Saya said before frowning.
"What is it?" Korra asked.
"This is weird. I'm getting a similar signal somewhere else." Saya said.
"Where?" Rias asked.
"Africa. Why would it be all the way in another continent?" Saya asked.
"We'll ask when we get there." Diana said as they got back on the Javalin and flew off.
Meanwhile
Sean and his group were still in the City looking around.
"Where the hell is everyone?" Sean asked.
"Grodd's little light show probably scarred them all away." Solovar said.
"This is usually the part where Flesh Eating zombies show up." Wally said.
"You watch too many movies." Sean said annoyed.
"Hey theres a Titan for almost anything. I guarantee you theres something like vampires out there." Wally said.
"One." Sean said shocking him before they heard some noise which they followed.
"Here we go." Solovar said rubbing his eyes seeing a crowd around Grodd under mind control.
"I knew this guy was a prick from the day I met him." Sean said as Grodd was making a pointless speech to everyone who cheered.
"Why is he even doing that?" Wally asked.
"Arrogance and pride. Now that he's got the whole city under his control he can do whatever he pleases with everyone and everything." Solovar said.
Just as Grodd was about to speak more he yelled in pain as he was hit with Atomic breath.
"Go talk to someone who actually gives a shit!" Sean yelled making him growl.
"KILL THEM!" Grodd yelled as he and Corwin took off.
"I'll stop Grodd!" Lantern yelled going after him.
"Wheres Ghidorah anyway?" Wally asked.
"Flying off somewhere. While his territory is here he does leave every now and then to spread his wings and try to find other Titans." Sean said.
Meanwhile
Diana and the others arrived at the other location before seeing Batman on the scene already as they got off.
"No doubt about it. The same energy signature like in Central City." Batman said.
Thats when Saya spotted what looked like a camera looking at them before she got an idea and pulled out her ID for Monarch before it began scanning it.
"Identity confirmed. Saya Takagi. Proxy of the Titan Togera. Welcome to Gorilla City." A computer voice said before the shield shut down.
"How'd you do that?" Rias asked.
"I figured Monarch might be aligned with this place." Saya said.
"And you'd be right." A gorilla said walking to them.
"Talking Gorillas?" Korra asked.
"You got giant Titans in various sizes and forms and this surprises you?"
"Fair point." Korra said.
"What are you all doing here? Did Kruger send you?"
"No. But recently Central City has vanished. Theres a shield like the one here around it preventing us from getting in." Diana said.
"Grodd. We recently had a security breach from one of our own who stole security plans. He must have made his own in Central City to take over the place."
"Can you deactivate it from here?" Batman asked.
"No. It can only be shut down from the inside. Unless A high level Titan attacks it."
"Lucky there is one there. One of the top three." Korra said.
Meanwhile
Grodd was at a military base about to launch missiles at Gorilla City.
"Goodbye Gorilla City." Grodd said inputting the final code but it was rejected. "WHAT?!" Grodd yelled trying again but the same thing happened making him growl.
"Hate to break it to ya Grodd but thats not how it works anymore." Sean said leaning on a wall.
"What have you done?" Grodd asked.
"Me? Nothing. All missiles from simple to Nuclear ones can now only be lunched if given approval at the new Central Hub Monarch had installed incase people like Simmons or Luthor tried anything to the Titans. So in other words your little plans are down the drains." Sean said.
"RAAAAGH!" Grodd yelled trying to smash him but he easily dodged.
"I'll make you brain dead when I get through with you Kruger!" Grodd yelled about to try and use his Device when he roared in pain as Sean Blasted it with Atomic breath making it spark out like crazy before it exploded as he fell forward.
"NO!" Corwin yelled in horror before Sean kicked her into a wall out cold.
"Fucking Internet Romances. This is why I like meeting girls in person like Diana." Sean said.
Later
"You never cease to surprise me Kruger. You made Grodd's plans impossible to destroy Gorilla City before he even tried." Solovar said.
"Eh I just make plans. Saya is the real brains of the group of Proxies to be honest." Sean said making her blush lightly at the praise.
"So what happened to Grodd anyway?" Korra asked.
"Come see for yourself." Solvar said leading them away.
Grodd was in a cage with a banana in one hand while pushing a swinging tire in another.
"Damn." Lantern said.
"The hell happened to him?" Korra asked.
"All that Radiation combined with the helmet has left him like this. I very much doubt he'll ever recover at all." Solovar said.
"I don't suppose you'd want him put down to be on the safe side." Rias said.
"I think this is punishment enough." Sean said.
"Indeed. Besides..." Solovar said showing video surveillance before something came out of the Mountains showing the Titan of Gorilla City who looked similar to Kong who roared loudly. "I doubt Congar will let anything happen." Solovar said. (Congar from War of the monsters)
"Looks a lot like Kong." Korra said.
"You could call him a distant relative if you'd like. Godzilla after all has a few out there. And there are Titans who also have their own relatives that have yet to awaken." Solovar said.
"True enough." Sean said as they left.
If they had stayed they would have seen Grodd's eyes narrow at them.
Later
After all that was over Sean was with Korra in Gotham taking her out on a date.
"I still can't believe there was a Gorilla City. Why didn't you say anything?" Korra asked.
"You haven't been with us long. You gotta earn knowledge in our little group. Not Just be told it." Sean said.
"I guess that makes sense. Still it's nice to know everything worked out." Korra said eating her food.
"It would be better if a few certain people were gone for good." Sean said making her chuckle.
"YOU!" Bullock yelled.
"Oh great. Here we go again." Sean said.
"You and your Titans ruined everything. I'm losing money buying new clothes every day and crime is down like crazy! Which means I'm not on the clock as much anymore! Which means less money in my paycheck!" Bullock yelled.
"Oh so you want more crime to get paid more. Typical. It's people like you who make civilians trust the police less and less." Sean said.
"What do I care? A bunch of nobodies dying means jack to me. As long as I get paid." Bullock said before Sean kicked him down as he towered over him with a snarl showing sharp teeth.
"Care to repeat that?" Sean asked making him gulp.
Thats when King Bat Showed up and snarled at Bullock.
"Oh man." Bullock said before he roared so loudly it shredded his clothes showing him in pink hearted boxers.
"And here we go." Korra said amused.
"AHHHHH!" Bullock yelled running home to get changed again.
"What a loser." Sean said making Korra smile.
Authors Note: And with that Grodd has been defeated. A new Titan Proxy has been found and New Titans have emerged. I'd say this was a good chapter. Now Next Chapter Is going to be special since it involves one of my favorite movie monsters from 1999.
