Change was in the air. Flowers danced on the breeze, as they were blown to and fro by the wind, and the ice melted down below in the city. Amp was walking home from her shift at the Pocket Monster Center. She had just arrived at the entrance to her house when she felt a buzzing sensation on her wrist. Her Xtransceiver was ringing; someone was trying to call her.
She answered the call, so then the screen revealed the face of the person calling her. It showed a face that Amp hadn't seen since the funeral seven years ago. "Amp, how are you doing?" "I could ask the same of you, Aurea, how are things going?" "Good, all things considered"
"How is Rosa doing?", Amp hesitated, then replied that she was doing well. Truth be told, Amp wasn't very sure of that herself. Rosa wasn't interested in the things most kids her age cared for. She was interested in the legends of the samurai and faithfully attended the swordsmanship classes she had begged to be enrolled in. Now she was asking her to allow her to go on a journey to challenge the Pocket Monster League.
Amp couldn't afford to let her go out into the world alone and risk her being in danger after losing her husband, Quincy, seven years ago. But she knew that Rosa would not give up on what she wanted, and would probably resort to going behind her back in order to get her way. "Well that's good, because I was wondering if she would be willing to help me with something? Are you aware of the Pocket Monster Index?" Amp didn't like where this was going, but nervously replied that she did; three years ago, Aurea had sent three skilled Trainers across the Unova region to obtain information on all the Pocket Monsters of the region. They had accomplished the task in the span of some months, as well as achieving other remarkable accomplishments.
"Well, all of the information that was collected is no longer useful. Due to the Plasma Incident, the biodiversity of the region has shifted rapidly in a matter of a few years. So I will need some people to collect new data for me. Bianca is busy with the work I have given her as my assistant, Cheren is dealing with being a new Gym Leader, and Hilbert is completely off the grid. I was wondering if Rosa would be interested?" Amp couldn't believe what she was hearing. Juniper thought it would be fine to send her daughter on a journey? What potential did she see in her child that she couldn't? Given Rosa's increasing demand to challenge the Pocket Monster League, her leaving to go on a journey was bound to happen. And she owed an awful lot to Aurea.
Being able to have Rosa go on her journey and also help out a friend would be like knocking out two Pidoves with a Rock Throw. "Why, sure! I think she'd love to help out!" "That's good, because I've already found two others to help me with the project. I was just waiting to talk to you to get things started. My assistant Bianca will be in the city tomorrow to give out the Pocket Monster Indexes. Talk to you soon!" The Xtransceiver returned to its default screen. Amp returned her attention to the front door, and just then realized that she had only tonight to help Rosa pack.
