Hey everyone, I'm back with part two of the mother day chapter series this chapter is going to be a little different because the formatting is different. It takes place during the Mother's Day episode. Only this time we're going to see the Mother's Day memories from Esteban point of you just to get clear perspective of the story. I hope you enjoy it.
Ash, Esteban and chatana were preparing for their journey to nueva vista, where they will their next allies. Though Esteban wasn't feeling too good about it.
"Once we release the shadows of the night Avalor will cower before our might." said Ash
"Ash I beg of you to reconsider, we are talking about the most powerful beings in all of ancient Maru." Esteban tried to negotiate.
"Which is why we need them, with the shadows on our side nothing will stand in our way not even Elena, or her irritating friends" Ash vowed.
Esteban tried to pick her conscience "Even Carla? All of this to take over Avalor? Are you willing to put your own daughter in harm's way?"
Ash thought of her last encounter with Carla, she was furious that she would choose her father and Elena over her own mother, she gave up trying to convince her to join her again. "Carla means nothing to me, she made her choice."
As Ash stormed off, Esteban wondered how his own family was doing, he knew it was Dia de las Madres and he knew his Abuela wouldn't look at him the same way anymore, especially since his final grand council meeting when he saw his own grandmother, the one who loved him, took care of him, and gave him everything he needed, disown him for betraying his family and costing the lives of King Raul and Queen Lucia, Elena's father and mother, his uncle and aunt.
Esteban remembered that he had a farsight power of his own so he used it to see what his family was doing on Dia de las Madres. To his surprise, they were looking at flashbacks of Luisa's favorite Dia las Madres with Elena's scepter, they were looking at memories of their wonderful family before Shuriki. When he saw him and Elena as kids, his family started mentioning him.
Elena: "Wait is that Esteban, Why was he there?"
Luisa: "Don't you remember? this was the year Esteban's parents were lost at sea."
Elena "That's right he just moved in with us"
Francisco "You two used to everything together "
Louisa: "You looked up to him like a big brother "
Elena: "Oh yeah."
Esteban's POV:
Esteban remembered when he first met Elena, when he was sad about losing his parents Elena was the first to console him, she did everything to make sure he was a part of the family, and they've been inseparable ever since. He was honored to be considered a brother figure to Elena.
...
Esteban then saw him and Elena playing peekaboo with baby Isabel
Francisco: "I forgot Isa was ever that little."
Esteban's POV:
Esteban thought about Isabel. He couldn't imagine how she was feel after his after revealing his betrayal, she must've felt sad about losing her parents at such a young age the hands of a evil sorceress, who he helped take over the kingdom. Not to mention that he was the one that she looked up to and he let her down. She unintentionally put his little cousin in danger, and she had to watch her on sister and cousin fight. She has no mother or father in her life. Now in the Lena had to be the one to raise her on her own, along with her grandparents. that's a lot of damage he's done to his little prima. He prayed that one day he would explain things to her and hoped that he would forgive her.
"I'm sorry, Isabel, you didn't deserve this."
...
As Elena popped up the next memory he saw his young, mischievous self, pulling a prank on Elena, but getting her to taste bad chocolate, which led to an all out chocolate fight, it went silly and chaotic until one of the chocolate projectiles hit Luisa, then quickly apologized to their Abulea, and to their surprise, she got back at them by splattering chocolate on their faces, baby Isabel joins in on the fun by creating a Chocolate catapult, with three spoons, and was able to get all three of them which marked the day Isabel made her first invention. Elena and her Abuelo's all laughed together as they enjoyed one of the happiest memories through Elena's scepter. Esteban chuckled as well, even though he was far away from them. He has never seen them, so happy in his life he wished that he could be there.
Elena: "I just don't understand when we found out that Esteban betrayed us. He said he didn't feel like part of the family. I just look at his memories"
Luisa :"We treated him like he was our own son."
Francisco: "I know, mi Amor."
Esteban's POV:
Esteban felt remorseful that he broke his abuela's heart after everything she's done for her. He remembered what he said at the final grand Council session that he didn't have a place in the palace, he felt like an outcast, and nobody ever listened to him. Now that he's seen the most happiest memories he had with his family. He's starting to wonder that he might be wrong.
"I'm sorry Abuela"
...
In the next memory, he saw the royal family giving out chocolates to the children so they could give them to their moms. Elena shared that tradition with Esteban since she considered him part of the family back then. But as his younger self was witnessing the love that children were showing to their mothers, he relived the trauma he had of losing his family, and to his grandmother's concern she pulled him aside to show him something special.
Luisa: "He went through so much, at such a young age."
Elena: "I never knew it was tough for Esteban losing both of his parents, now I get it, I wish he would've told me how he felt."
Francisco: "He did not like to talk about it. He needed a friend and you were there for him."
Esteban's POV:
Esteban remembered how difficult it was losing his parents, and how Elena was always there for him when he needed it he always appreciated it but after everything that's happened, he felt like a hypocrite when he done the same thing to Elena causing death of her parents by joining Shuriki.
...
As Esteban was watching his family, he saw Elena show the next memory from her scepter, where is Abuela took him to the family Grove of cocoa trees, Luisa explained to him the family history behind these cocoa trees, that each seed planted on the ground grows a tree that marks a special occasion, including the birth of her children, Elena's mother, Lucia, and Esteban's mother. Then she asked him to help to help her plant a tree to mark a new special occasion of him coming to live with the royal family.
Luisa: "Together we're going to give this young seed so much love that it will grow into to be a strong magnificent, tree, just like you will grow into to be a strong magnificent man."
Esteban's POV:
Esteban smiled as he reminisced those words of his grandmother pretty well, it felt wonderful that his Abuela believed in him until now.
Elena: He was so lucky to have you,we all were.
Esteban's POV:
Esteban's heart felt heavy when he heard Elena speak that truth.
"This is true"
When he heard those words that his Abuela said a long time ago, he filled with so much remorse that he took those words for granted, he remembered the anger and disappointment in Luisa's eyes when she disowned him in front of the grand council. He let her down. And now the love that his grandmother had for him was gone forever.
...
When Elena used her scepter showed the memory of the family portrait, He saw what he had missed, everyone still in a chocolate mess, Elena suggested they pose like that for the Mother's Day portrait. Raul thought it was a good idea since it will be special day to remember how much fun they had on that day. Esteban wanted to be there because it was the most important day of his life but he chose to stay behind because he needed to do that was so important, even now he regrets his decision to miss the family portrait because it was the most happiest days of his life, now can never get that moment back because he would've been part of something wonderful, and he has no one to blame but himself for it.
Elena: "Wait, Esteban wasn't there."
Louisa: "That can't be right he was in the portrait with us, was he?"
Francisco: "Now that you mention it."
Elena: "I'm gonna go check"
Elena: "Nope no Esteban."
Luisa: "He must've felt awful that I forgot about him"
Elena: "..and felt even worse it after he passing this painting year after year."
Luisa: "Maybe it's that I was right about the way we treat him,I did not do my job, I was not a good enough mother to him.
That caught Esteban by surprise, he couldn't believe his own grandmother would say that about herself.
Elena: Abuela
Francisco: "That's not true."
Louisa: "But here's the proof."
Francisco: "One painting does not raise all the years you spend looking out for him"
Luisa: "Maybe it wasn't just the painting, maybe it was more than that."
Elena: "I'm sorry Abuela, I guess I should've looked in into the past."
Francisco: "Perhaps it's time we started thinking about the future, we had to give out chocolate to the children of Avalor."
Luisa: "But we haven't started to give her the chocolate yet!"
Francisco: "Exactly my point!"
Elena: "Right we better get to the shop."
Esteban put his staff down. He thinks he's seen enough. After everything he has witnessed with his farsight powers, he had come to a realization that he was to blame for his actions. He knew his family was right about him so he had to do anything to make up for his actions, whatever it takes, even from the dark side.
Well, that was part two of the Dia los Madres saga, part three will be coming soon. In the meantime, let me know what you think of this chapter. See you soon.
