A Broken Reunion: Broken and Lonely 2 Ch. 02

Carmilla reenters her office and glances at the stuff all over the floor. "Clara!" she turns to the puffy-haired, planning on making her clean the mess but sees that her daughter is still upset. Taking a deep breath, the matriarch faces her other daughter. "Odette! Please take your sister home. There's obviously need for some readjustment."

"Yes, Mom," the spectacled Carmine takes her sister's hand and leads her out of the office.

The Arms Dealer watches on as her daughters leave and then returns her attention to the desk. "Tooth!" she addresses her assistant.

"Y-yes, Ms. Carmine?"

"What I walked in on…" Carmilla turns to the imp. "Was that the first time?"

"Uh…" he squirms in place. "Mrs… um. Your daughter often had private meetings with her wife."

The Overlord snaps at him. "She's not my daughter's wife! Understand!?"

"U-understood, Ms. Carmine."

"Call a board meeting! I need to see what damages Velvette had done to my company," Carmilla then walks past him. "While I'm at the meeting, gather anything important and then burn the desk and chair! Order new ones. They better be just like the old ones!"

.oOo.

Clara and Odette enter the penthouse.

The spectacled Carmine hums. "Not much has changed since we've been gone," she receives silence. That's all Odette had gotten on their way home. Her sister is usually more talkative and livelier. "Clara?"

The puffy-haired sister just walks on to her room. "I'm just going to bed."

Odette blinks at her depressed sister. With a sigh, she just continues to explore the home she hasn't seen in more than a year. There were a few things that changed up. New furniture is noticeable. Different pillows on the couch. And many of the pictures are in different frames than what she remembered.

All of their family pictures are still spread across the walls with many more added to them. The photos contained either just Velvette or the Vee and her sister. One particular frame stood out to the point that Odette removed it off its place. It contained the image of her sister and Velvette in wedding gowns.

.oOo.

Clara lays on her bed crying. Her sister and mother are back. She should be happy. But why wasn't she?

The Carmine then turns to her side and sees the empty space where there should be someone. And that's when she understands why she's not happy.

The woman hops out of the bed, grabs a couple suitcases and starts packing as much of her and her wife's stuff clothes.

The door then opens and Clara turns to see her sister standing in the doorway with something in her hands.

"Odette!? I can explain! I…" she watches as her just walks in and sets something down.

"Take these," Odette tells her. "Knowing Mom, she will burn them."

They're the pictures of the puffy-haired Carmine and her wife.

"But…" Clara turns to her. "Why?"

"It's as I've said," the spectacled Carmine just walks over to grab a couple more suitcases to help with packing. "What you do is your choice. Not Mom's. And…" she turns to her sister. "I'll always have your back, Clara. We're sisters," Odette then receives a quick hug.

"Thank you for understanding, Odette."

"Don't get me wrong," the puffy-haired Carmine is pushed away slightly. "I don't understand any of this. But from those pictures, I can see that you two truly love each other. Now let's hurry," Odette continues packing. "I already called a taxi. I suggest you hurry to the bank to withdraw as much money as you can before Mom gets the idea to cut you off completely."

"Right!"

As soon as they finished packing, the sisters rushed downstairs and loaded the luggage into the waiting car.

"Ah, sh(bleep)!" Clara smacks her forehead. "I forgot something important. Odette. I'll need your help!" without waiting for her sister's answer, the puffy-haired Carmine runs back into the building with Odette not far behind.

Odette asks, "What is so important to risk getting caught by Mom?"

"Trust me," Clara tells her as she goes further into the penthouse. "Aren't you worry about Mom finding out that you helped me!?"

At that, the spectacled Carmine shrugs while going into the direction of her sister. "I'll just tell her that you caught me off guard and knocked me out or something."

"We should make it convincing."

"What do you mean by tha—" Odette blacks out as something hits her head and shatters.

"Sorry, Odette," Clara sighs, looking down at her sister. "No sense in both of us getting into trouble," with that, the puffy-haired Carmine finally leaves the penthouse. "That vase was a wedding gift."
