Chapter 26.

"So, you're telling me," Zangya asked Gohan as they flew over an icy tundra, "That the dragon can grant any wish?"

"Well, pretty much." Gohan replied without looking away from the radar. "Like I said, there are some restrictions and his powers are directly proportional to the one who created him, which would be Dende. Any wish that would be beyond Dende's power is beyond the eternal dragon's"

"Wait, then why can't we just ask Dende for the wish?"

Gohan shrugged. "It doesn't work like that. I don't know why, it just doesn't. Oh, we're here." The two of them stopped abruptly in front of a large ice burg. According to the radar, the dragonball they were currently tracking was in the hunk of ice. Gohan handed the Radar over to his companion and got into his fighting stance. He struck a quick and powerful blow against the mass of ice that shattered the block like glass. As all the glittering shards were flying around, Gohan saw an orange glint sparkle in the sunlight. He sped towards it and caught the 5 star dragonball with ease.

"Alright, nice one Gohan!" Zangya praised. "That only leaves two more doesn't it?"

It had already been a month since the invasion and things were starting to get back to normal. True to her word, Bulma had donated all the necessary equipment to rebuild orange star city, or as it was now officially called, Satan city. Due to the dyno capsule technology, the damage that normally would have taken teams of men years to rebuild only took capsule corps a few weeks. Since all the damage caused by the battles had been fixed, that only left one thing to do. Gather the dragonballs and revive Hercule. While Gohan took this task upon himself, Zangya insisted on coming with him. Ever since he had first told her of the mystical orbs, she had wanted to see the dragon in person. Gohan didn't mind the company and was actually really glad she decided to tag along. Having someone to talk to really helped pass the time while flying between destinations.

"Yeah, I bet that we can finish up before lunchtime!" Replied Gohan excitedly. "So, um, how come your brother didn't come." He asked casually. Not that Gohan minded being alone with Zangya. It's just that he was surprised that Turk would allow the two of them to be alone, regardless of what the task was.

"What makes you think I told him about this?"

"Wait, so he doesn't know?" Gohan asked surprised.

"No." she stated simply. "Why should I tell him where I go. I'm free to do as I like, aren't I?"

"Well, yeah." Gohan agreed "But, how did you explain why you were going to be gone for the whole day? Won't he notice?"

"Oh, I doubt that." Zangya said with a grin. "See, I made sure he would be far too busy with a little challenge of my own."

The tone she used was ominous enough to make Gohan slightly concerned for the welfare of the blue man.

Back at mount paozu

"Come on Turk! You can do it!" Esmerelda cheered her crush on with everything she had. Sweat was pouring down the Hera warriors face as he mustered every last ounce of concentration to defeat the opponent in front of him. He had never faced anyone with such sheer grit and tenacity. With his mightiest war cry, he finally made his move.

"HAAAAAAAAAAHHHHH! TAAAAKKEE THIIIISS!"

The dust settled to reveal a chess board on the ground. "Knight to h-3!" Turk folded his arms and smirked. He had no idea how this game was supposed to be played, but he felt like this was a good move. "Beat that!"

Across from him, Son Goten was sitting on the ground, sucking on his binky and staring straight back into the bulky mans face. The total lack of fear present in the toddler's eyes only served to rile Turk up more.

"Oh, not impressed huh!? I see your brother is not the only one with the warrior spirit! Alright kid, quit stalling and make your move!"

Goten took out his binky and replaced it with the knight piece that Turk had moved. He then, quickly and systematically, began to pick up all of Turk's pieces from the board and place them in his lap, until there was nothing left. Turk fixed the little half saiyan with a calculating stare.

"Well played little warrior. I see that I have found a worthy opponent. ESME!"

"Yes Turk?"

"Are you sure we don't have a rule book or something?"

"Zangya said that you were supposed to learn this game without one." Esme replied.

"Ahah! Of course! And clearly she has set me against a master of the game so I can get the best results." He said in reference to Goten, who was still sucking on the chess piece innocently. "Let's have a rematch then. This time, I won't lose!"

Back in the arctic

"He'll be busy for a good long while. We should be back before he notices that we're even gone." Zangya said confidently. She herself, had never bested Goten in the game of chess. Although, she really wanted to know where she could find a rule book for the accursed game. Sometimes she was sure that Goten was cheating.

"If you say so." Gohan shrugged. "Anyway, on to the next one." He took the radar back from Zangya while handing her the ball. "Let's see, looks like we need to go south by south east." And with that, the pair took off for the next one.

As they flew, Zangya studied the ball. It really was incredible to her that so much power was in such a little trinket. One wish in exchange for gathering all seven of them. When Gohan first told her of his journey to Namek to find the dragon balls of that planet, she was fascinated by their power. What would she wish for if she summoned the dragon? Immortality? Power? Infinite cake? She asked him if these balls could be used to resurrect her planet and people. To her sorrow, he had told her that that was an impossibility. Her people had been extinct for far too long and such a wish was just beyond the dragon's power. This left her a feeling dejected. It may have been a long time ago, but to her, it felt like only yesterday.

While Zangya was pondering the power of the eternal dragon, Gohan was lost in thoughts of his own. He had defeated another threat to the earth, the damage was being repaired, they were going to use the dragon to wish back Hercule. School was even supposed to start back up soon. Things were starting to go back to normal, and yet, Gohan just couldn't help but feel on edge. He just had so many questions.

He was a demon, but what did that really mean? Did that make him evil? And what about his darker self? Did all demons have an inner self, or was it only because he was a hybrid? Or was it like demon Gohan theorized and it was due to the devil man's spell gone wrong? Was there any way to get rid of him? Did he really want to even if he could? Whatever it was, he was still a part of him and he had certainly been helpful in the past. But Gohan didn't like feeling on guard all the time. Like there was a monster inside him just waiting to break loose. He didn't feel any evil from him, but he still didn't trust dark Gohan. That was a problem because no matter how it was born, the creature was a manifestation of Gohan's subconscious. It was him, for all intents and purposes. How was he supposed to protect Earth if he couldn't even trust himself?

All these questions and yet, he had no way of getting the answers. When his inner demon told him that 'They' wanted to meet him, he had considered actually trying to meet whoever 'They' were. Perhaps they had the answers that he sought. Or it could all be a trap. What if he agreed and his demon side overtook him? Though, his dreams hadn't been hijacked since then and Gohan saw that as a good sign. He felt it was safer and wiser to just ignore the invitation. He would continue to follow the path he set for himself. He would become so strong that he didn't ever need his demon side again. with his resolve set, Gohan returned his attention to the search for the dragonballs.

"Almost there. Oh hey, wait a minute, there are two of them right next to each other. That's weird?" Gohan said while scratching his head.

"Maybe somebody else is collecting them?" Zangya said with a shrug.

"Maybe, but they only just became active today. I guess it's possible though…"

"Well, this isn't that far from that fortuneteller's palace. Maybe she's collecting them." Zangya pointed out.

"Oh hey! Great point." She was right of course. Gohan hadn't noticed it himself, but now that his friend pointed it out, he realized that this was the same desert that Baba lived. But the radar didn't take them to Baba's palace. Instead, it took them to what looked like an old ghost town. A single street was lined with a few broken-down buildings. Gohan and Zangya touched down in the middle of the road as a tumbleweed rolled by.

Gohan couldn't imagine anyone with the resources to collect two dragon balls so fast would be in a place like this, but he also thought it was highly unlikely that two balls just happened to land in the same deserted town. But whether they were being collected or if it was a freak accident, the radar had yet to be wrong. He turned to his companion to ask her what she thought. What he saw made him do a double take.

Zangya was, of course, still standing next to him, but in addition to her normal fighting garb, she was also wearing a poncho and sombrero.

"Um… Zangya?"

"Yeah?"

"Where did you get that?"

"I bought it at the mall just before the invasion happened."

"Ok… But, why are you wearing it now?"

"Are you makin' fun of my poncho?" She asked in a cowboy accent.

"No, It's just…"

"Ya see, Gohan," Zangya took out a sucker, unwrapped it and stuck it in her mouth, "my poncho don't like people laughin'. Seems like it's getting' this crazy idea that you're laughin' at it. Now, if you apologize, like I know you're goin' to, I'm sure I can convince it that you didn't really mean it."

"Um… Sorry poncho?" Gohan said with no small amount of confusion. Zangya Just nodded in satisfaction.

To Zangya, it didn't matter that what she said really made no sense, she knew her line was fire. Besides, she bought the poncho, she wasn't going to waste a perfect opportunity to use it. Gohan on the other hand, questioned the wisdom in letting her watch that western movie the other night. She was incredibly impressionable after all.

"Right… Well, the radar says the last two balls are in that building marked saloon up ahead. Let's be on our guard."

As the two walked closer to the building, the town no longer seemed so dead, they heard music playing. The effect was a creepy one. Nevertheless, Gohan and Zangya were undeterred and they walked onto the porch of the Saloon. "The music seems to be coming from inside." Gohan stated as he was about to push open the swinging double doors to enter. Suddenly Zangya grabbed Gohan by the shoulder to stop him.

"What is it!? What's wrong!?" Gohan was suddenly on his guard, thinking that Zangya had sensed danger. But when he looked at her, there was a shy look on her face.

"Well, it's just… I was hoping I could do it."

Gohan relaxed when he realized that there was no threat and he processed what she said. "Do what? Open the door?" She nodded vigorously. "Um, sure, be my guest." Gohan stepped aside and allowed Zangya to go in front of him. She took a deep breath before walking forward. Then, dramatically pushing both doors open with a bang, letting the door frame her silhouette.

The saloon went quiet as all eyes were fixed on the new entry. Zangya scanned the room and took the lollipop out of her mouth. With her coolest voice she said quietly. "Howdy." Then she continued further into the bar, inwardly rejoicing about her perfect entrance. Clint would be proud.

While Zangya was so focused on her entrance, Gohan noticed something about the saloon that she didn't. At first it seemed like a typical saloon like any old west movie. There were men drinking at the bar, a few scattered tables had card games going. The saloon was in full swing, but the weird part wasn't that there was such a lively scene in such a dead town. The strangest part of it all was that none of the patrons were human.

A few skeleton banditos were playing cards at one of the tables. A wolf man bartender was serving suspiciously red drinks to what looked like a couple of vampires. Even the piano man wasn't a man at all. In fact, the only indication that someone was playing the instrument was that a bowler hat was sitting above where the musicians head should be. Now, Gohan had seen his fair share of supernatural occurrences and was not to be thrown off by something trivial like a saloon full of monsters. However, Due to Zangya's grand entrance, almost everyone in the bar was staring at them and that was a little off putting.

"Hey Zangya, I think we should grab find the dragonballs and get out of here as soon as possible, ok?" He whispered to his partner.

"Don't worry, I got this covered." She said with such confidence that Gohan couldn't help but feel worried.

"Actually, I think we should just follow the radar." But Zangya wasn't listening. She was instead, walking up to the bar and looked to be ordering a drink. Gohan thought about stopping her, but decided against it. She can take care of herself. Besides, I need to get those dragonballs. Gohan looked back at the device and saw that the last two balls were incredibly close. He followed where it was leading, which was into a dark corner of the saloon where voices could be heard conversing.

"…I'm telling you gentlemen, these balls are priceless." An arrogant sounding voice said.

"Then why are you willing to bet them on a card game?"

"The real question is, do you have the cards to take them from me?"

As Gohan Got closer, he was able to make out 4 figures around a table. His eyes took a moment to adjust to the dim light but when they did, he recognized one of them. It was a man in a blue spandex suit with horns and wings. "Hey! I know you!" Gohan blurted out, causing the men at the table to look at the kid who interrupted their game.

"YOU!?" Spike the devil man's eyes bulged out of his head. "W-what are you doing here!?"

"Oh good, it looks like you remember me, Spike right?" Gohan asked politely.

The devil remembered this kid alright. He was out of commission for a month recovering from the beating the little monster had given him. He'd never been so afraid in all his life. "P-p-please, don't hurt me!" Spike begged.

Gohan felt a little bad. He didn't actually remember much of the fight against this guy, but he guessed he messed him up pretty good if he was this scared of him. "Calm down, I don't want to hurt you. Actually, I'm just looking for..." It was then that Gohan noticed two orange orbs on the table amidst a pile of gold and other valuables. "THE DRAGONBALLS! You don't mind if I take those do you?" he asked the devil man, who shook his head vehemently, not wanting to risk the wrath of this boy. Gohan reached out to grab them but one of the men, an ogre judging by his red skin and horns, stood up and grabbed him by the front of his shirt.

"Hey brat! Are you trying to steal from us!?" Gohan looked taken aback.

"Oh, I'm sorry," He said politely. He wasn't intimidated by this show of force, but he didn't want to steal from anyone. "I only wanted the dragonballs, not your money. Spike said it was ok so if you don't mind, I'll just…" he reached out his hand again only for an axe to come down on the table and cut him short, courtesy of a second ogre. "The devil put those on the table so they aint his no more. If you want anything on that table, you'll have to win it fair and square." The ogres didn't believe what Spike told them about the dragonballs, but if this kid was after them, they might be valuable after all.

Gohan looked at the table. He had never played poker before. He wasn't even sure of the rules. He really didn't want to take the chance of not winning the dragonballs. He looked up at the ogre still holding his shirt. "Can't I just fight you for them or something?" he asked hopefully. Normally he wouldn't try to pick a fight, but a friendly match for a worthy cause wasn't exactly 'senseless violence' in his mind. This was just a much easier way to do things. He thought for sure the brutish creature would readily agree, but instead, he angrily pointed to a sign on the wall. "Can't you read kid!? No fighting allowed on the premises. Darn kids today. Always wanting to solve things with violence." Gohan thought this was rather hypocritical coming from the man who grabbed the front of his shirt, but rules were rules.

Maybe Zangya was good at card games. He looked over to find her no longer standing near the bar. Instead, she had made her way over to the skeleton banditos who were teaching her how to do a quickdraw. He breathed out a sigh of exasperation. Looks like he was on his own. "Alright, how do I play?"

The red ogre grinned. "First things first kid. You gotta buy in."

"But I don't have any money." Gohan said. He really needed to start bringing some cash with him on these adventures. Luckily, Spike spoke up, though he sounded a little panicked. "He can have my place!" He was rather anxious not to upset the kid. He stood up and bowed to the half saiyan, offering his chair while sweating profusely.

"Wow, thanks!" maybe I was all wrong about demons and devils. Gohan thought as he sat down in the proffered chair. The ogres just shrugged. They didn't much care if it was Spike or the kid who they beat. In fact, the kid seemed like an easy win. "Alright, Let's get started."

One poker game later.

"AHAHAHA!" the red ogre laughed. "Read 'em and weep boys, four aces right here!" Gohan was distraught. "Aw man! None of my cards match."

"Hehehe, don't feel too bad kid." The winning ogre said as he raked in his winnings. "Here, let me see what you got." He was feeling in a rather good mood as he had won quite a lot of gold, so he didn't mind teaching the kid a thing or two.

"All I got are a bunch of hearts, but they're all different." He tipped his hand and the ogres jaw dropped. Gohan had the ace, king, queen, jack and the 10 of hearts.

"Wha-but how?"

"I know, It's pretty bad huh."

"Kid," The fourth player, a birdman of some kind, said to Gohan. "what you got there's a royal flush."

"Really? Is that good?"

"I-it's the best hand in the game." The other ogre said, stunned by the sheer luck of this kid on his first time ever playing the game.

"Really!? So, that means I win right!?" He asked excitedly. The ogres just nodded dumbly and Gohan jumped up from his chair for joy. "Alright!" He grabbed the two dragonballs. "Thanks Mr. Spike!"

"Oh, yes, no trouble at all." Spike bowed profusely as the others at the table got up and left while grumbling about beginners' luck. "Anything else you just let me know, ehehe." He finished with an awkward laugh. He was glad that he had escaped an encounter with this boy unscathed. Too bad he lost the dragonballs though. Part of him wondered if Baba knew this would happen when she gifted them to him in the first place.

Gohan was about to walk away but hesitated. All the business with his dark side started when he last met this guy. Maybe he would have some answers. "Well, actually, I do have a something I wanted to ask you about." But where to start? Sure, he was friends with Baba, and he may even be a nice guy, but he still wasn't exactly sure he could trust this guy. "Are you a demon?"

Thrown off by this question, the nervous Spike nodded. "Er, well, technically yes. I'm a devil which is a race of demons." He didn't know where this line of questioning was going.

"Oh, ok." So there were different races even among demons. That was interesting to know. "But what does that mean? What even is a demon?"

Spike thought for a moment. Most people didn't really take the time to question him about his lineage. Most people just coward in fear. "Well, let's see." He said thoughtfully. "I suppose the best way to put explain it would be…"

*BANG!*

Both Gohan and Spike looked over to where the blast came from. In the center of the bar, Zangya was holding a smoking revolver with wide eyes full of surprise. Standing opposite her, one of the skeletons took off his hat to examine the bullet hole that was just created.

"Um… sorry…" Zangya said awkwardly. She had been having a good time with these guys. They had even offered to let her practice a quickdraw using one of their guns. She had actually done a good job. Until she decided to spin the revolver around on her finger, causing it to discharge. "I think I'll just be going now." She set the pistol on the table and backed away slowly, making her way towards Gohan. She sat down at the table and Spike and Gohan just stared at her. "What!?" She asked defensively. Then she noticed the other man sitting at the table. "Hey, aren't you that devil guy who works for that fortune teller?"

"Yes, I…"

"The one who got beat by Gohan so bad that you were somewhere between wetting your pants and calling for mommy?"

With a growl the devil man just nodded in the affirmative.

"Cool, how ya been? Good to see you can still walk."

Spike looked at the woman in front of him and tried to decide if she was trying to pick a fight. Her look was completely innocent and there was no way of telling whether she was making fun of him or not.

"Spike here was just about to tell me about the demons." Gohan interjected, bringing the devil back to the original topic and reminding him that he really shouldn't try to fight these people.

"Ahem, yes, anyway, about demons." Spike continued where he left off. "Quite simply, they are creatures born of the dark dimension.

"Dark dimension?"

Spike nodded and picked up a gold coin from the pile on the table. "Think of the universe like this coin. This," he showed them the side with a head on in, "is the side we're on. This side contains the Earth, as well as the rest of the mortal plain. But just like how this coin has 2 sides, so does the universe." He flipped the coin over. "On the reverse side of the universe there exists another dimension."

"So, you were born in other world?" Gohan asked.

"Not quite. The afterlife can still be considered as part of this realm. The dark dimension, or demon realm, is completely different. It was designed by those wretched Kais as a prison for my ancestors. It was completely cut off from your side of the universe and could never be accessed by something so simple as dying." His sour expression showed his disdain for the Kais. Zangya couldn't really blame him. She may have mended her ways but that didn't mean she didn't still resent the Kais for imprisoning her.

"How come the Kais wanted to imprison you guys." Gohan had always thought of the Kais as the good guys and if they sealed someone away, they probably had a good reason.

"Well, originally, the demons were created as a type of balance to the Kais. While they would handle creation, while we provided the necessary service of destruction."

"Necessary service!?" Gohan exclaimed angrily. "How can you call destruction necessary!?"

Spike shrugged. "Simple. Do you think that the Universe is infinite? Large as it might be, the universe is still quite finite. There can only be so much space to create. Destruction of old life is necessary for the rearing of the new."

"So you just kill innocent people in the name of 'balance'?"

"Think about it boy, What would happen if nobody ever died? What would happen to your planet? It would soon grow too small. Nobody could survive and soon the entire planet would be nothing but a lump of space rock. Well the universe is the same in a way. Only so much life can exist in one universe so of course destruction is necessary, just as death is a necessary part of life."

Gohan still didn't like the idea, but looking at it in that light, he couldn't really argue. "Of course, that doesn't mean that my ancestors didn't enjoy their job. It is in our very nature to love chaos and destruction, but we never destroyed more than our quota. Even so, the Kais are jealous and petty creatures. We possessed a power that they could never have, and they resented us for it. So, they locked us up in a dark and lifeless realm. Replacing my ancestors with mere mortals as, so called, 'gods of destruction'." Gohan looked a bit skeptical. He had no idea about the gods of destruction, but the if the universe needed balance, then why would the kais do away with the demons. "Oh, you don't believe me, do you? Tell me boy, what do you know about ki?" The devil asked while taking a swig of his drink and calling for another one.

"Well, ki is the latent energy that resides inside all living things. It's literally our life force and the greater it is, the stronger a person can become." Gohan said, not sure how this had to do with anything.

Spike nodded. "That is an adequate summary. But you should understand that not all energy is the same."

"It's not?" This was news to Gohan. Of course, he knew that every individuals energy was unique, but he always thought that it was all, essentially, the same basic thing.

"Allow me to educate you." Spike said with a smirk. "There are three types of energy. First, you have divine energy, or godly ki. As its name suggests, this is the type of energy that only the gods possess. It is what gives them their exceptional longevity and is the source of their powers. Only a deity, like an angel or a Kai can utilize this energy and the techniques that are exclusive to it. Then, of course, there is life energy. Life energy does indeed belong to all mortals, though some have it in greater measure than others. If a mortal learns to utilize this properly, they can achieve great power." Spike paused for another drink, then continued. "The third type of energy is called negative energy, or Kili. That is the kind that demons possess and why the kais fear us so much."

"What makes it so great?" Zangya asked. "I mean, you're a demon so you have this energy, right? But you don't really seem that strong at all."

Spike growled under his breath, but then he chuckled darkly before answering her. "You must have noticed it yourself, whenever you are angry, or when you fear for your life, you are able to bring out power beyond your limits. Hate, pain, rage, sorrow, fear, regret, powerful emotions that run rampant through the races of mortality. These negative emotions are like seeds within the soul that sprout and bloom into power beyond a mortals' normal potential. Of course, if a mortal has too much negative energy, then they will go mad, they may even be destroyed by the energy imbalance. Demons not only have this energy within themselves in great abundance, but they also can manipulate it in others, even consume the power and make it their own if they wish. Can you imagine and army of demons who are feeding on all the negativity that mortals create? They would be unstoppable. The Kais feared that we would one day overthrow them and that is why they locked us up."

"Is that what you tried to do to me during our fight?" Gohan asked. "To manipulate the kili inside me?"

"Yes, that is my specialty." Spike replied proudly. He was getting slightly tipsy now. "I am able to draw out the negative energy in a mortals' soul and cause it to explode. Quite literally in fact. You are only the second person my spell has failed to work on. The first was a runt named Goku. Ooh, how I hated that boy." He allowed him self a brief scowl as he remembered the encounter. "Though the reason that it didn't work on him was he simply had no negative energy at all. Not a single bad thought. Not one regret. Inexplicable!"

Gohan smiled at this. He knew his father was special. But the next thing that Spike said made his smile fade into a frown. "You on the other hand." Spike pointed a finger at Gohan while drinking from his fourth refilled drink. "You had plenty of Kili. The most I have ever seen, even among the demons. Yet somehow you were able to survive my spell. If anything, it made you stronger. If I didn't know any better, I'd say you were a demon."

Gohan shifted in his chair uncomfortably as Spike had hit the nail on the head. Spike looked like he was considering the possibility that Gohan was one of his people. It was a good thing all that alcohol was slowing his thought process down. Gohan decided it was best not to let him get too far in his thoughts, so he asked him another question. "Theoretically, if you used your spell on mass of kili, would it be possible for the energy to become sentient? You know, develop a sort of consciousness?"

Spike thought about that. "Well, it isn't unheard of, though I shudder to think of the consequences of such an occurrence."

"How come?"

"Because of Majin Buu." The devil said ominously. Zangya had to force herself not to laugh at the name. "Oh, you wouldn't be laughing if you knew. It all happened before I was born, but demons know the story well. The first time the demons tried to escape from the dark dimension, it nearly worked. They succeeded in creating cracks wide enough for some of the weaker demons to slip through. Not much, but they still considered it a victory. At least, until they realized the consequences of their actions. All the Kili that they used to force an exit had seeped into the mortal realm and congealed at a single place. In a way that nobody knows, it gained sentience of a sort. But negative energy is destructive by nature and so the only thing on this creatures' mind was to destroy. Demons may love chaos, but we know when to stop and we have our reasons for what we do. This creature was tireless, indestructible, it destroyed without rhyme or reason. It ravaged the universe and even found its way back into the demon realm to terrorize us." Spike shuddered. "We could do nothing against it and it was only by chance that the creature was sealed away by a mortal sorcerer. Believe me, if another being like that appeared, it would not be good for anyone. Nothing short of a demon god could stop something like that."

"Demon god?" Zangya asked Spike.

"It's an old legend." The devil said drunkenly. "Our ancestors, the first demons who were betrayed by the kais, where known as demon gods. They were sealed away in a layer of the dark dimension that even demons cannot go. Legend says that if a demon gathers and consumes enough kili, then they can rise to the status of a demon god. A being more powerful than even the mightiest of the Kais. Of course, the last demon who even came close was our king, the mighty Dabura." He finished the last of his drink and his head began to sink low onto the table. "Unfortunately, he disappeared 300 years ago, along with the last of our hopes to break free of the kais oppression. It's a real shame you're not a demon kid." He rested his head in his arms on top of the table. "I bet you would've really shaken things up." The devil began to snore, leaving a very disturbed Gohan to deal with all that he had learned.

Break.

Gohan and Zangyas' journey back to the lookout was quiet to say the least. Gohan flew through the air with a blank expression on his face. He was filled with uncertainty. He had hoped that getting the answers to his questions would give him peace of mind at the very least. He could cope with the fact that he was part demon. Even the fact that they could feed off negativity didn't bother him all that much. They didn't sound much worse than the saiyans at any rate. If his grandpa was part demon and was still such a nice guy, then it couldn't be that bad of a thing. On the other hand, He still wasn't completely certain what to do about the thing inside of him. It seemed pretty clear that something had happened to give his kili sentience, but while it might be a creature similar to Majin Buu in some aspects, such as its love of violence, it didn't try to destroy things without reason. It seemed more likely to Gohan that there had formed a kind of fracture within him that separated his two natures. The peace-loving side, and the darker battle loving side fueled by kili. The question now was what to do about it. Should he try and separate the two halves and become two beings like Piccolo and Kami had done? Was that even possible? Or should he attempt to reset the break and make the two halves within him one. Again, was that even possible and if it was, would he be the same Gohan as before? Which personality would be the dominant one?

Zangya, who had changed out of her western getup, was looking at her young friend with concern. She had gotten answers to a few questions of her own. Now she knew what Baba meant when she said Gohans' mysterious power was not from his saiyan side. It seemed possible, likely even, that her friend was part demon. Not that she cared, he was still Gohan to her after all. She didn't think he would care about such a thing either, but given his demeanor, maybe he did. She wanted to do something to make him feel better but she didn't know what to say. "Hey, Gohan?" She said softly to get his attention. He turned and looked at her. "Is everything ok?"

I might be a monster that can destroy the universe inside of me so, no, not really. "Oh, yeah, I'm fine Zangya, just a little tired, and hungry. Let's speed up and make our wish so we can get something to eat." He put on a burst of speed and shot off ahead, though she was quick to follow. Soon, they arrived at the lookout and Gohan set the balls down in front of them. Stepping back, he looked at Piccolo, who nodded and smiled. Gohan nodded back, then turned his head to the dragonballs and shouted. "Eternal Dragon! Come forth and grant our wish!"

The balls glowed brightly, mesmerizing Zangya. From the orbs shot out a golden spire that twisted and grew until it became a giant green dragon with glowing red eyes. In a deep and thunderous voice, it spoke. "I am the eternal dragon. Why have you summoned me?" The dragon asked impatiently.

"Please, Shenron, a friend of ours has died and we need you to bring him back. Please resurrect Hercule Satan!" Gohan made his first wish. The dragons eyes glowed bright and hen dimmed.

"The one called Hercule is now alive. State your second wish."

"Wait, where is he?"

Hercules' point of view.

The champ opened his eyes, but it was still dark. Where was he? Did he die again? He felt around and realized that he was surrounded by a velvety cushion and he seemed to be in a large box. Velvet cushion? In the dark? In a box?

"GYAAAAAHHH! SOMEBODY GET ME OUTTA HERE!" And the champ started banging on his coffin lid, punching through, and trying to frantically dig his way out. He made it through 6 feet of dirt and finally, much to the terror of several patrons of the cemetery, his head popped out.

"KYAAAA!" cried an older woman, then she took her hand-bag and started hitting Hercules' head. "DIE ZOMBIE! BACK TO THE GRAVE WITH YOU!"

"Ow! Hey I-Ow! Stop tha-OW!"

Back at the lookout.

"Now state your final wish!" Gohan thought for a moment. Originally, he was going to use the second wish to restore all the damage done to Satan city, but since Bulma was taking care of that, it wasn't really necessary. Then, he considered asking the dragon if he could do something about his inner demon, but he scrapped that idea immediately. He still didn't know what he was dealing with and he didn't want to risk setting it free if it really was a creature of pure destruction like Majin Buu. Perhaps it was only in control of itself because it was within Gohan. Either way, he decided against asking the dragon for help on this matter.

"Well, do any of you guys have a wish?" He turned and asked his friends.

Piccolo shook his head, as did Popo and Dende. Zangya on the other hand…

"Hey dragon? What's your policy on dessert related wishes?"

Break

Far away, on an unknown planet, a red man with horns and an M on his forehead was floating cross-legged, deep in meditation. Suddenly, his yellow eyes snapped open and an evil smile formed on his features. "I see…" His voice was deep and sinister. Demonic was the only way to describe this man. "How unexpected." He dropped to his feet and walked through a doorway that led to a large circular room. "Master Babidi." He addressed himself to a small, wrinkly creature in the center of the room. The one called Babidi was in the middle of performing a spell and looked rather annoyed at this interruption.

"What is it Dabura?" He asked in a high nasally voice. "I've told you not do disturb me while I work."

"Apologies master, but I believe I have found what we are seeking."

"What!?" the little green mans' anger vanished. "Are you saying what I think you're saying? Dabura, have you actually found Majin Buu!?"

"Yes master, he is on a small planet called earth. There is even a decent supply of kili for us to harvest for the resurrection."

"Oh my, that's marvelous!" The wizard was practically dancing with joy. "Oh, well done Dabura, well done! How did you manage to find him? Where is this information coming from?"

Dabura smirked. "Demons have a vast network of information. Believe me when I say that this comes from a very reliable source."

"Hmm, for your sake, this had better not be a false lead."

"Believe me master, planet Earth will be but the start of the glorious Majin empires' rebirth. It is there that you will receive your just desserts."

End chapter.

A/N: Ok, I had just finished watching a Clint Eastwood marathon when I wrote this and I for one think that Zangya would really like the characters that he plays. I hope that this chapter was decent enough. I kept rewriting the scene with Spike and Gohan. I thought it would be interesting to kind of do things from the demons' perspective. Spike, being a devil, is reciting the traditions of his people, just as Shin was reciting the version the Kais have passed down. Also, The way Goten plays chess is pretty much how every toddler I know plays the game.
