Hailey Upton is a detective in Robbery Homicide in New York, and she had been up against the most dangerous criminals in they're database, but Hailey wasn't one to get scared, after living with an alcoholic father, who beat her left and right when he was wasted, was nothing to her anymore, she wanted to deal with criminals instead of being that scared little girl she once was, so she got the job, and she was starting to learn what it was like to not have an alcoholic father stopping her from doing what she wanted to do. Be a cop.

It was a typical day in Robbery Homicide, and they were dealing with a case which meant butting heads with Voight's unit. The intelligence division.

Hailey made her way into the crime scene. Her black blazer brushing against her thigh and her badge securely on her hip.

She walked towards the middle of the room, and spoke in a no nonsense tone of voice. "Detective Upton. Robbery Homicide." She introduced herself.

Voight looked over and stuffed his hands in his pocket. "Sergeant Hank Voight. Intelligence."

Hailey smiled, looking down. "Well, I appreciate the help, Sergeant, but, as of now, this is my scene."

The unit all scoffed in their heads and Voight looked at Hailey. "Excuse me?"

Hailey crossed her arms, and stood her ground. "Let me make a bit clearer for you, shall I? I'm from Robbery Homicide. This case is a Robbery and a Homicide. Now, I'll appreciate it if you vacated my crime scene."

She walked towards the crime scene, leaving the intelligence unit shocked, and Jay was very impressed.

"Alright! Let's go back to the precinct, and work this case!" Voight ordered, not pleased with getting undermined by a hotshot detective.

The unit all divided into two and walked out with their partners, but Jay's head was still replaying that scene with Hailey.

Later, the unit were back at the precinct, working the case. "Yo! Sarge! I might have something?" Kevin called.

Voight walked over, arms crossed as usual, looking at Kevin's computer. "What you got?"

"So, I zoomed in on the footage from the crime scene and it looks like the perps were pros. They spray painted the cameras, and went to do the job, but one of the perps isn't such a pro, watch this guy." Kevin pointed to the screen.

The unit look closely, and noticed the guy standing skittish next to the door, gun not even in his hold.

"This guy's a snowflake, doesn't even have the gun in his hand," Jay scoffed.

Erin placed a hand on his arm, trying to keep him from losing his cool. "We know, Jay."

Jay took a breath, and spun around. "Have we got an ID on Snowflake?" Voight asked.

Kim pressed a few buttons on her keyboard, and nodded. "Yep! 114 Englewood."

Voight nodded, looking at his team. "Gear up! Let's pay snowflake a visit."

The unit all got geared up, their Kevlar vests secured to their chests, and guns in their holsters.

Voight got into his truck, with Alvin, and drove off, the unit following behind.

After a while, the unit arrived, and they got into a line behind the wall, and Jay was at the front of the line.

Voight got in position, and whispered. "Go!"

The unit all patted each other's shoulders, and Erin patted Jay's.

Jay got up, and slowly walked towards the door, the unit behind him.

"CHICAGO PD!" Jay yelled.

The door remained closed, and Voight nodded to him.

Jay kicked the door in, and marched into the living room. "CHICAGO PD!"

"CLEAR!"

"CLEAR!"

The unit met back into the middle, after searching every inch of the house. "No sign of Snowflake or anyone?" Erin explained.

Voight nodded, looking around the house. "Alright! Let's regroup, and work on what we got."

The unit nodded, and left the house, giving it one last look.

They arrived back at the precinct, and they had an unwelcome visitor.

Hailey.

"Where's your sergeant?" Hailey asked, the annoyance barely being concealed.

Voight walked out of his office, leaning against the woodwork. "If you want to know where I am, I'm always in my office, check there, before asking one of my detectives."

Hailey looked up, smiling with a hint of sarcasm. "That's real sweet."

"What do you want, Hailey?" Voight asked.

Hailey lost all her sarcasm and replaced it with anger. "You stole my case, Voight."

Voight leant forward, his arms still crossed. "What do you mean by that? Me and my unit solved a case. We had a job to do and we did it."

"You got balls, trying to back-." Hailey stopped, when she heard a splash of coffee.

The unit gasped, and noticed the splash of coffee fell on Sergeant Platt.

"Calm down! It's just a shirt, right? You can buy another one?" Hailey smirked.

Jay hid his smile behind his coffee cup, and swirled in his seat. "Got something to say, Halstead?" Platt asked.

Jay looked up, shaking his head. "No-Nope! Just, enjoying my warm coffee!"

Erin stifled her laughter, and grabbed some napkins, and went to wipe some coffee off Platt's shirt. "Erin. Leave it, I'll deal with it…" Platt nodded.

Erin nodded, and placed the used napkins in the trashcan stationed under her desk.

After Platt walked downstairs, Voight looked at Hailey. "You done here?"

Hailey smirked, nodding. "Ye-Yeah, I'm sorry, I'll umm, buy her a new shirt or something?"

She walked downstairs, and the unit commented. "That was some serious shit!" Ruzek exclaimed.

Kim sighed, relieved. "I'm just glad it wasn't me!"

The unit all agreed, but knew Platt was far from annoyed. She was angry.

After Awhile, Everyone was at home and Hailey walked back into the district.

Platt looked up, and moved her coffee. "Uh oh! You must be here for round two…"

Hailey laughed, shaking her head. "No. Voight wanted me…"

Platt nodded, looking back at her paperwork. "Are you Platt? Trudy Platt?" Hailey asked.

"Yeah? Why?" Platt asked.

Hailey closed off, and walked upstairs. "Hello? You gonna answer me?" Platt called back.

The gate buzzed open, and Hailey was gone.

Trudy was searching through all the thoughts she could into how Hailey could've known her.

Upstairs, Hailey walked into Voight's office, knocking lightly on the door. "You wanted to see me. Sergeant?"

Voight looked up, nodding. "Yeah, come in, shut the door."

Hailey walked inside, and shit the door. "So, what's going on?"

Voight leant back on his chair, placing the files he had been looking at down. "We need some fresh blood in my unit, and I think you'd be a good fit."

Hailey didn't know what to say. She was shocked.

Working in Voight's unit?

Hailey stuttered, trying to find the words. "I-I don't know what to say? Are you sure?"

Voight smiled, leaning forward. "Say yes, we'll make it work."

Hailey nodded, smiling. "Then. Yes. I'll take it!"

"Good! You start tomorrow." Voight ordered.

Hailey nodded, and walked towards the door. "Open or closed?"

Voight looked up, smiling softly. "Assume I want it closed?"

Hailey smirked, and closed the door on her way out.

As Hailey walked downstairs, Platt's voice stopped her.

"Upton!"

Hailey walked back towards the desk, and sighed. "Yes, Platt?"

Platt put one last file down, and sighed. "I can't find anything which could tie you to knowing me?"

"Hmm, it'll be better if I just explain it?" Hailey suggested.

Platt nodded, sighing. "Please?!"

Hailey sighed, and leant on the desk. "I was ten, walking to my dad's restaurant from school. I used to work there everyday after. I walked in, put my bag on the hooks, and that's when some guys walked into the restaurant, I was working the till, while my dad restocked the food. I was sitting doing my homework, and that's when one of the guys walked over to me asking for the night's receipts, I don't know why they wanted the receipts? I was clueless? I tried to explain that I can't do anything? But, that made the guys so angry, that when my dad walked out, they popped his eye socket."

It was all coming back to Trudy, she remembered everything now. "Yeah, I remember, I was still in uniform, it was the restaurant over on Greektown."

Hailey nodded, and continued. "Yeah, you and your police buddies came and you took me behind the counter, I was so scared, but you kept me safe, I was terrified, I didn't know if my dad was gonna make it, but you made me believe he was going to make it back to me, you said those exact words. After a while, my dad came back with his eye socket stitched up. The hospital had to give him 86 stitches, he went mental, knowing he couldn't work for ages, but you were there, I remember falling asleep in your arms, your police jacket covering me, that's the safest I've ever felt, and that was all down to you."

Platt's eyes filled with tears, and she rubbed them away. "I became a cop, because of you…" Hailey admitted.

She nodded, and walked out of the precinct, leaving Platt alone with her thoughts about the revelation she had just heard.
