Emeli Gets Some Advice From A Wholesome Couple
Emeli was many things. A powerful Daemon Princess, the Favoured of Slaanesh, Beloved of Ciaphas Cain.
And as nervous as a juvie on dance night.
Taking the demonic equivalent of a deep breath, Emeli ventured amongst the halls of Slaanesh's palace. Taking an appreciative glance at the activities that would make a mortal quiver and cry, the Daemon Princess made her way to the personal chamber of one of Slaanesh's most favored servants. Moving across the six dimensions, she eventually came across an ornate door made out of material best not described for mortal eyes or ears. Knocking six times at the door, Emili watched as its solid shape transformed into a translucent curtain, opening up to let her inside.
Walking inside, she quickly bowed low. For while Emili herself was also favoured, the entity before her was ancient beyond even the galaxy's lifetime. "With ecstatic joy do I bow before the Vengeful Alliance. I thank thee for allowing my request to meet." She kept her eyes to the floor and her tone reverent (though the latter wasn't hard).
Twin throats chuckled. "You may rise, young one." The deep voice of a warrior prince and the seductive voice of a herald melodically intertwined. "We are all favoured of the Dark Prince, are we not? If we wanted this pomp and circumstance, I would have made our meeting more public. Please, rise, my friend."
With elegant grace, Emeli rose to meet the entity before her and did her best not to blink in surprise. Before her stood Syll'Esske, the Vengeful Alliance, the demigod of mutual excess. Two beings, one a Demon Prince and the other a Herald, so intertwined and united they were the same being, were both wearing a brightly pink apron and chef's hat with "kiss the cooks" printed on the front.
"Am...am I interrupting something?" Emeli inquired.
"Oh, not at all." Syll said, the demon prince's chiseled body from centuries of gladiatorial combat looked comically oversized for the tight apron he was wearing. "We were just baking cookies" Esske chimed in, the Herald smiled as she walked to the kitchen to check the oven.
"Co-cookies?" Emeli repeated, a complete loss of words. Multiple emotions flooded through her. Shock at the mundanity of it all, curiosity at how such a baked good would taste, and jealously at the simple domestic bliss the two shared. She quickly stamped that last emotion down and threw it in a safe for later. "Are you sure I didn't come at an inappropriate time?"
"Of course not!" Syll'Esske exclaimed. "We're always willing to help such a delightful princess such as yourself!" The two of them pulled the tray out, leaving a mouthwatering aroma. "Now, while we wait for these to cool, why don't you let Syll'Esske know what's troubling you." Conjuring a dining room set, the two beings sat down on the same seat.
Emeli sat on the other side. With an awkward cough, the powerful daemon princess felt quaint, like a child with a parental figure. As an experience it was novel, though mostly annoying. With a shake, she forced the words out of her. "I wanted some advice about me and Ciaphas Cain."
Syll frowned. "Did something happen between the two of you?"
Esske tisked. "Now, now, that might not be the issue."
"True, though why else would she request our presence?"
"Maybe it could something that could be a problem in the future and we can help resolve it before it becomes a problem."
"A distinct possibility, Syll" Esske smiled. Emeli blinked. Despite following the conversation, Syll and Esske had changed positions and even mid-sentence the one speaking would move from Herald and Daemon Prince. Once again that jealousy flared again. "It could be the way Emeli looks at us with such naked envy." The two smiled at her and Emeli quickly looked down in embarrassment.
"I...I apologize." Emeli said uncharacteristically. Angering the Vengeful Alliance was the last thing Emeli needed. "I merely...worry about my relationship with Caiaphas. I wish for him to rise so we can be together as equals. But as his deeds grow I feel..." Emeli forced the words out of her mouth, the very syllables grating her ears. "...inadequate. His star burns so brightly I am afraid I might never match its brilliance."
Syll'Esske looked at the young daemon princess. "Are you jealous that he might be more powerful than you?" The two looked at Emeli with intense but not unkind eyes.
"No! Never!" Emeli looked right back, determined. "He has always been greater than me. He deserves the whole galaxy!"
"Then what truly gives you pause?"
"That...that I will be an inadequate love for him. That my deeds will make Caiphas seem lesser." Emeli was quiet, both contemplative and fearful for finally admitting such a thing in the palace of the Lord of Excess. She looked back at Syll'Esske and found them smiling warmly.
"I remember such a time." Syll said, her claw gently caressing Esske's cheek. "When I was afraid that my darling would surpass me and I would bring him down by our bond."
"But our bound is what makes us strong" Esske replied, gently holding Syll close. "Alone we are powerful, but together, we are unstoppable."
"So as for us, same as to you." Syll'Esske smiled.
The words touched the heart of the Princess. Emeli smiled back. "Thank you my lords for this advice. You have put an ease on my shoulders."
"Of course dear!" Syll'Esske beamed. "Now, these cookies are done! So why don't we have some while we discuss some other things that might...'enhance' the next meeting with your dear Cai." The three starting talking intensely after that.
Back in the materium, Caiaphas Cain suddenly shuddered. Not understanding why, Caiaphas had the uncomfortable feeling someone was discussing details about himself that was best talked about behind closed doors and out of reach from anyone in the juvie age group.
A/N: I'm surprised there's nothing involving the other wholesome couple that has models on the tabletop: Syll'Esske. Especially since it's a wholesome couple that exists in AoS and 40k and does kind of fit within this whole storyline. Probably made Emeli too nervous for a daemon princess of Slaanesh but...meh, I wanted to write Syll'Esske.
