I'll never forget the day of Roxanne's college graduation for as long as I have my memory. Even though she was the one getting the college degrees that she worked very hard to get and earned them, it was one of the happiest days of my entire life and I would go as far to say I remember it more fondly than my own college graduation day and when I went to get my own college degrees. I'm not saying there was anything wrong with my own college graduation day at all (and it wasn't even anything to do with Mona when she was my girlfriend at the time), but I think the reason I remember Roxanne's college graduation day more is because I love her more than anything in the whole wide world and so when she achieves something, I can't but help feel very happy for her and so proud of her and her accomplishments, even more than my own. That's how much she means to me and how much she always meant to me since I first met her in high school and how much she always will mean to me until my dying day.
Roxanne was very happy and excited about that day as well, with the only sad feeling she had was that her dad wasn't alive to see it though she did remember what I told her before we went to cheerlead for the 2009 Super Bowl about how he would watch her from Heaven and he would be proud of her, no matter what, just like I was. And she was very happy that my dad, Sylvia and Hannah came to see her at her graduation ceremony and she was so delighted that all our friends – PJ, Lucy, Bobby, Stacey, Lauren, Lisa and all our godchildren – came to Spoonerville College to see her collect her well-earned college degrees as well. But what made her the very happiest on this very happy day was that I was here to watch her graduate. She said, in her own words, that if I couldn't or wouldn't come to see her graduate, then that very special day wouldn't mean much to her at all. She said that me coming to watch her graduate in person meant so much rewarding to her more than he receiving all the degrees she earned and she said that's how much I mean to her. And I just want to say how I remember how very beautiful she looked in the graduation gown and hat she rented.
Soon, the time came for Roxanne to go and sit with her college mates – she sat with her friends Vicky, Valeria and Kenny – while I had to go and sit with the other staff members of Spoonerville College and my family and our friends went to sit with the rest of the guests. Then the principal of the college gave her speech about what a great year it had been for our college and what we had all achieved during 2008 – 09, especially thanks to the amazing graduating students and their incredible achievements.
Then something happened that no one, not even me, was expecting at all. After the principal finished her speech, it was time for someone to speak and she chose me. I didn't know why she chose me to give a speech because I wasn't asked to do so before and I didn't prepare one.
"I am inviting Mr. Goof here because of his incredible success story, finishing high school as a C student to becoming a great student at this college and working very hard at this college, starting from cleaning up our gyms to becoming the very best Head of Sports Department this college had ever had. Ladies and gentlemen, Mr. Goof."
So I went to the stage, as everyone gave me the generous applause. I was nervous because I wasn't prepared at all, but I still went ahead and did my very best.
"Thank you all so much. I'll start at the beginning, shall I? At first, I never thought I was ever going to get into any college at all, not even this one when it was one of the cheapest colleges in the country before it got promoted to one of the ivy league ones. I doubted I would get into college because I was never the best student in my elementary, middle and high school and all my teachers thought I wasn't going to succeed at anything in my life.
"Luckily, Spoonerville College was generous enough to accept someone like me and give me a chance to become the very best college student I could become when they did. Because I never got my hopes too high, I never imagined I would achieve what I did achieve here, including winning four out of the seven College X Games, acting in three college drama productions and finishing college in three years and then working here at this college and then becoming the Head of the Sports Department. This college has helped me surpassed my expectations more than I ever could imagine and I will always be grateful for everything it taught me and encouraged me to always do my very best because it helped me become the best version of myself.
"Now, I have been the Head of this college's Sports Department for more than five years and I have seen nothing but a lot of very bright, talented and generous students who helped to make this college one of the very best in the whole of the USA. And you guys have all been nothing but very great examples of what college students should be and I know whatever you do in the future, you will be great at it and I wish you all nothing but the very best in life. Thank you."
Then I was greeted with lots of applause from everyone. I was glad everyone liked my improvised speech because I wasn't expected to give out a speech and I couldn't write one, but I was glad they loved it all the same.
Then it was time for the college students to go to the stage and collect their well-earned degrees with the principal.
After the students collected their degrees and the principal thanked them for a wonderful college year and wished them well in the future, it was time to celebrate. I immediately went to Roxanne and I hugged and kissed her. "Congratulations, Roxanne."
"Thanks, Max," Roxanne said. "And that speech of yours was very inspiring and awesome."
"Thanks."
Then I congratulated Vicky, Valeria and Kenny, when they came to congratulate Roxanne. Then my family and the rest of our friends arrived to congratulate Roxanne for her amazing successful college career. Then it was time to go to do the photos.
Once the photos were done, I, Roxanne, my family and our friends went back to my house and I threw a party to celebrate Roxanne's college graduation (as well as Vicky's, Valeria's and Kenny's). Without trying to blow my own trumpet too much, I think it was an amazing party. Everyone chatted with one and other and told amazing stories, everyone enjoyed the food I prepared and there was plenty of fun activities for everyone to do like playing soccer, playing in my swimming pool and playing video games.
Then after an hour of everyone having fun and eating the food, I called everyone for their attention so I could give them speech.
"First of all, thank you guys so much for coming to Spoonerville for Roxanne's very special day today. Thank you for coming to see her collect the degrees that she worked very hard and earned for the last four years and thank you for coming here to celebrate her graduation. And thank you for helping to make this very special day even extra special.
"I also want to say that ever Roxanne became a student at Spoonerville College, not only was she a great student and has become a great teacher for special needs children, being a great actress in many college drama productions and being an amazing cheerleader and the college's best cheerleading captain, but she also helped to improve my life. Ever since I learned that Mona cheated on me, I was the most depressed I had ever been during my whole life and I left I was never going to be happy ever again, but, since Roxanne came back into my life after she was forced to move away from Spoonerville during the Eleventh Grade, she proved me wrong and she helped me be the happiest I had ever been in my whole life and live life to the fullest again.
"So, to Roxanne, for all her incredible achievements at college and improving my life and other lives and all the good she's done."
"Roxanne!" everyone said.
We all raised our drinks and gave her a toast.
Then it was Roxanne's turn to make a speech.
"Hi, everyone. First of all, like Max said, thank you all so much for coming here today and making today as special as it could be. I have so much to be grateful to you all for everything, but there's one person I must thank especially and that's Max. Never mind going to college and helping me get through it by motivating me to go through the challenges at college and through life, I wouldn't even still be alive if he didn't come and rescue me from that sinking mud in Mouston Forest. My life has improved so much since he came back into my life and I'm always the happiest when I'm with him."
Then she raised her glass. "To Max, for all the good he's done for everyone, especially for me."
"Max!" everyone said.
Roxanne's speech really touched me.
Then we all continued to party.
It was late at night when my family and our friends started to go back to their homes, so we thanked them once again for coming to Spoonerville, we waved them off as they drove away and then we went to bed. And we continued to celebrate this amazing day by getting naked and having sex with each other in bed.
"Think of this as an extra graduation present," I said to Roxanne. "And a well-earned one."
"Oh, I do," she said. "And, Max, once again, thank you for everything today. Coming to my graduation, throwing me an amazing party and now for the incredible sex."
"You're more than welcome, Roxanne."
Then we continued to have our special fun until we all fell asleep.
