Ever tried talking to a brick wall? No, of course not. You're someone who isn't scrambled. Why would anyone spend any amount of time conversing with something inanimate?
Well, Jinzuren and Busho had to. Lady Boros had only been gone for a few minutes. During that time, the duo attempted to offer suggestions to Geryuganshoop. All of their proposals revolved around meetings between their superiors and Lady Boros, establishing a means of communication, etc.
However, with every single one, Geryuganshoop responded the same way: "I'll need to converse with my mistress." So, although the men were speaking to an alien octopus, it was identical to talking to a brick wall.
"..." The men stared at Geryuganshoop, each trying to think of something they could ask that would result in a different answer. "...What...will happen if Lady Boros doesn't get to fight our strongest hero?" Busho inquired.
"Not possible." Geryuganshoop began. FINALLY. SOME PROGRESS. "The entire purpose of this journey was for our mistress to fight your champion. We won't be leaving your planet until this happens." He stated.
"But we're not sure that Blast, the man you're talking about, will even agree to this!" Busho exclaimed.
"Then, we'll wait until he does," Geryuganshoop said. "However, should your champion keep our Lady waiting, it might not turn out well. Although our mistress hasn't felt emotion in quite some time, I'm certain this would ignite a passionate rage within her." He told them.
Oh, now THAT was wonderful. Busho and Jinzuren's minds raced with the possibilities that statement entailed. Would Lady Boros destroy cities? Conquer the Earth? Start killing innocent civilians until Blast met her demands?
Luckily, the duo wouldn't need to dwell on this. The subject of the conversation and their thoughts had just returned.
"Ah, m'lady!" Geryuganshoop called while looking at the sky. When he did this, Busho and Jinzuren also looked upward. "Did it go well? Did you see the champion?" He asked.
"Indeed. As I suspected, he arrived to deal with that so-called monster." Lady Boros answered as she slowly descended. "Miraculously, he defeated the creature in one blow. The seer's vision was as accurate as we had hoped. This man's more than capable of holding himself against me." She said.
"That's wonderful news!" Geryuganshoop exclaimed with a smile. "Shall I inform Melzargard and Groribas? They'll want to join the conversation." He inquired.
"Please do." Lady Boros requested right when her feet touched the ground. "We'll likely need to talk with these Earthlings regarding the specifics. An arena. A suitable time for the fight. So on, so forth." She reasoned.
Nodding to show he understood, Geryuganshoop fell silent and still. Jinzuren and Busho would've found this strange, except when they heard Lady Boros's words, they were shocked. Their wide-eyed gazes fixated on her rather than the octopus.
"May I help you?" Lady Boros inquired while turning to face them. She could feel their unblinking stares aimed at her backside.
"Lady Boros...could you...describe the hero you saw?"..." Busho requested.
"Are you not familiar with the visage of your champion?" Lady Boros questioned, finding that quite strange.
"...It's...been a bit since we've seen him. He's been busy with important matters." Busho lied.
"Hm, very well." Lady Boros said before proceeding. "The man I saw defeat the monster wore a yellow body suit with a white cape and two sets of red accessories: boots and gloves. Finer details, such as his facial features, are hard to describe. His face was impressively simple. However, I feel this is due to a state of overwhelming boredom. That might sound ridiculous, but I have suffered the same affliction for centuries. I know what it's like. So, try not to say something insulting. The last thing I can think of is that he lacked any hair. His head was smooth and shined when the sunlight hit it at the right angle." She told them.
Looking at the men, Lady Boros noticed that their shock was replaced with confusion.
"Is something wrong?" Lady Boros asked.
"...Lady Boros...I...don't know how to say this..." Jinzuren began, his mind trying to make sense of the situation. "That man you described...he isn't the strongest hero in the world...additionally...we've never heard of such a person...who you saw was a stranger..." He revealed.
"Do you DARE insinuate that she is lying?!" Geryuganshoop questioned, having "returned" to the conversation.
"N-No! Of course, not!" Busho quickly denied that accusation. "It's just; we're being sincere when we say that isn't Blast." He clarified.
"Well, I don't know what to tell you." Lady Boros started while crossing her arms. "We came here on the word and vision of an ancient seer. The person who appeared in said vision was the man I saw. If I hadn't witnessed his display of power, I'd be more willing to believe that the seer had made a mistake. However, I watched when this man struck down your Dragon-class monster. He leaped from the Earth and delivered a single punch to its face, instantly killing the behemoth as its neck violently snapped, and the skull was shattered. So, from how it seems, you and your people are mistaken about who the strongest truly is. I'd advise investigating this with due haste." She said.
Before either man could say something, Groribas and Melzargard emerged from the ship.
"Ah, good. There you are." Lady Boros greeted, turning around so they could speak face-to-face. "Melzargard, I need you to seek out a specific lifeform. The man we came to see. I didn't follow him since I wanted you to be updated. His attire, a yellow jumpsuit with a long white cape, should make him easy to find. He's also wearing red gloves with matching boots. As for his physical appearance, he looked fairly average in terms of size and mass. Apart from his clothes, the most distinctive feature you'll notice is a shiny bald head." She informed him.
"Understood, m'lady." "We'll depart immediately." Two of Melzargard's heads replied.
Following that, something astounding happened. Well, it was for Busho and Jinzuren. The creature known as Melzargard split into five entities. Yet, this wouldn't be the most surprising part.
Almost instantly, the five Melzargards altered themselves. Two became flying creatures that resembled bats. Two turned into land beasts similar to canines. The last transformed into an animal that, while not looking like a known species, did have attributes that eluded to a subterranean purpose.
Afterward, all five Melzargards left just as they said they would. The ones with wings took to the skies, those on land ran, and the fifth burrowed into the ground. They each headed in the direction their lady had gone when she departed.
"Lady Boros, was that wise?" Jinzuren asked. "What if this man notices your subordinate?" He added.
"Worry not. Melzargard wouldn't engage with anything combatively unless I gave the order. Furthermore, his skill in matters of espionage and target acquisition is unmatched. Should this man realize he's being followed, Melzargard will attempt to communicate with him and explain everything. Yet, regardless of the outcome, he'll return to me all the same. I only did this because you are unaware of the man's existence. As such, you'd be useless to me in locating him." Lady Boros answered.
Although that last bit stung, neither Busho nor Jinzuren could dispute it. Who was this mysterious man? If he could defeat a Dragon-class threat, how in the WORLD did the Association not know about his existence?! When they returned to HQ, the pair would look into this IMMEDIATELY.
"Is there anything else you need?" Lady Boros inquired, jarring them from their thoughts. "My elites and I must focus on your champion and our eventual fight. So, it will be some time before we can speak again. It'd be best to voice your wants and concerns now." She suggested.
"Uh...we'll need to get back to you on that. What you've shared about this unknown person is alarming. As such, we must launch an investigation. However, if there's one thing I could request, it'd be that you and your crew don't interact with anyone. We're the ONLY peop;e who know you exist. If word spread that alien life had arrived on Earth, there'd be mass hysteria." Busho responded.
"Of course. We're not looking to inconvenience you." Lady Boros agreed. "Besides, our ship has an immaculate stealth system. None of your devices nor persons will be able to detect us. You have my word." She added.
"Thank you," Busho said. "We promise we won't take long before contacting you. A day at most." He vowed as he and Jinzuren returned to their vehicle.
"Until then, Earthlings." Lady Boros bid farewell before heading back inside her ship alongside her elites.
Some Time Later, In A Seemingly Abandoned City...
A gentle wind blew through vacant city streets. Warm light from roadside lamps filled the blackened pathways. Amidst the sprawling shadows that poured from every direction, a pair of ghosts traversed the alleyways. Their feet moved with grace and silence, like that of a floating specter.
They had tracked a scent from a different city. Above the pair of stalkers, two sets of wings glided through the air. A tunneler in the Earth below easily carved through the dirt and stone. This hunting party had located their target. All that mattered now was to find it.
Slowly but surely, the scent grew fresher. Alley after alley, street after street, their target was closer. Soon, the trail was at its end. What awaited the hunting party was a sight most peculiar.
From the safety of shadows, they observed two figures. One was the target they sought; a bald man wearing unusual attire. The second was a humanoid creature adorned in mechanical parts. Was it a cyborg, perhaps?
The latter seemed to be taunting, maybe even threatening, the bald man. It was getting in his face and pointing a finger at his scalp. Its eyes shined with light, casting yellow beams onto his face. The hunting party wondered what would-
BAM
Within an instant, the man struck the odd creature. When he did, it exploded. Viscera and parts scattered in every direction. Many draped over telephone lines, signs, and lampposts.
As for the man, he moved his attention to the plastic bag he carried. He muttered something, but the hunting party couldn't hear it from this distance. Afterward, the man proceeded on his way. The hunting party followed. They'd report to their mistress once they knew where he lived.
