Shikamaru's POV (First Person)

It's been three months since I was raised to the rank of Noble Consort, five months since I first became part of Naruto's Harem. The day the decree was issued, gifts flowed in as if overnight I became a person of greater significance. Jade rings and a pendant arrived from Naruto to match the jade bracelets he'd gifted me before. Each piece glimmered with a quiet significance—he chose them, he sent them.

The Empress Dowager, Minato, was not far behind, sending a set of elaborate headpieces reserved for the highest formal events. As I inspected the finely crafted adornments, I realized the truth: my status had shifted. I was no longer just Shikamaru Nara. I was now someone the whole palace would whisper about.

Ino and Choji, my closest confidants in the Harem, were quick to visit me that very day. "Everyone knows now," Ino said, her voice brimming with curiosity, "Word's gone around—Naruto took you to his bed." She grinned mischievously, her blue eyes sparkling.

I sighed, reclining back onto a cushion. "I figured that would happen."

Choji chuckled. "Sasuke and Sakura weren't exactly pleased. Word is they threw quite the fit when they found out you'd been promoted."

I could only smirk. It wasn't surprising. Sasuke and Sakura's ambitions for the title of Empress were well-known, though Sasuke's outbursts were always quieter, simmering beneath his icy demeanor. Sakura, however, wore her ambition openly, unafraid of voicing her intentions.

Days passed, and Shino came to visit me, somewhat out of character for the quiet Aburame. He stood awkwardly by the shoji door before finally approaching. "I need advice," he said, his voice soft, barely louder than the hum of the wind outside. "How did you manage to get Naruto to… take you to his bed?"

I regarded him for a moment, eyebrow raised. "Is that what you really want, Shino? To climb higher in rank?"

Shino shook his head. "Not exactly. My family… they don't care about politics or titles. I was the first Aburame ever chosen for the Harem, and part of me feels like I should try. But I'm not after the title of Empress."

I gave him a thoughtful nod, knowing all too well the pressures of family expectation. "Then tell Naruto the truth. Be straightforward, like I was. I told him I wasn't seeking the Empress title, just that I wanted children. If that's what you want, tell him."

Shino thanked me and took his leave, but his visit made me reflect on how these relationships weren't as simple as they seemed. I had managed to carve out some level of intimacy with Naruto, not through manipulation but by simply being myself. Honesty, it seemed, had been enough.

Naruto continued visiting all the members of his Harem, just as expected. He visited me four more times over the last three months, each time taking me to his bed. The whispered rumors grew louder, and with every visit, I felt the weight of my position pressing down harder. During his other visits, Naruto also took others to bed: Ino, Choji, Shino, Tenten… The list grew, and each of us knew it was inevitable. Still, I noticed that my bond with Naruto was different, and I wasn't sure if that was for better or worse.

Today, I found myself once again in the small garden-like area that Naruto had arranged within my palace. It was my favorite part of this new life, a slice of peace amidst the chaos of court life. The garden was a small courtyard filled with potted flowers, game boards for shoji and go, and a wide space perfect for cloud-watching. The mats laid across the grass were as familiar to me as the clouds I loved to study. I often found myself tending to the flowers with my servants, trying to relax as my mind raced through countless thoughts.

Recently, though, I'd felt a change. My body had grown heavier, more sluggish. I found myself more tired than usual, and I couldn't seem to shake off the bouts of nausea that came after breakfast. My personal servants had noticed too, their worried glances lingering longer than usual. Despite it all, I pushed on, wanting to enjoy my time in the garden.

But today, as I stood among the potted plants, my vision swam, and darkness enveloped me.

When I came to, I was lying in my bed. The familiar scent of medicinal herbs filled the air, and I blinked, trying to focus on the figure looming above me. Tsunade.

"Good, you're awake," Tsunade said, her voice steady. Her hands were cool against my skin as she checked my pulse, though her expression remained unreadable.

I could hear Naruto's voice, muffled from another room, sharp with anger. "How could you let this happen? If anything is wrong with Shikamaru, I'll hold you all responsible."

My two personal servants stood off to the side, their heads lowered in submission. I managed to catch their attention and asked, my voice weak, "What happened?"

One of them spoke softly. "You fainted, Noble Consort. We brought you here and sent for the imperial medic. The Emperor arrived soon after, and…"

"He's furious," the other finished.

Before I could ask more questions, Tsunade gestured for one of the nearby servants to summon Naruto. As they left the room, Tsunade gently covered my arm, her eyes flickering with something unreadable.

Naruto entered swiftly, his expression shifting from worry to relief the moment he saw me awake. "How are you feeling?" he asked, sitting by my side, his voice softer than it had been when he addressed the others.

Before I could answer, Tsunade cleared her throat. "Your Majesty," she began, lowering herself into a respectful kneel. "Congratulations. Your Noble Consort is pregnant."

The room seemed to still for a moment. My servants immediately knelt, their voices filled with reverence as they echoed Tsunade's congratulations.

Naruto's face lit up with pure joy, a rare sight in the weight of his responsibilities. "Shikamaru," he said, his voice brimming with pride, "You'll be the first to give me a child." He reached for my hand, his fingers warm against mine. "You'll be well taken care of. I'll make sure of it."

He wasted no time in summoning his servants, issuing a decree raising me to the rank of Imperial Noble Consort. The title rang in my ears as his servants offered their congratulations and left to carry out his orders.

"Tsunade," Naruto said, turning to her with the same authority, "You will oversee Shikamaru's pregnancy. I want both him and the child to be in perfect health."

Tsunade bowed her head, already accepting the task.

Naruto's attention then shifted to my servants, his expression hardening. "You need to care for Shikamaru better. His comfort during this pregnancy is your top priority."

I looked at Naruto, offering him a small smile. "Thank you, but you mustn't forget the rest of your Harem," I told him, my voice gentle. "Now that I'm with child, you'll need more heirs. The public will expect it, Naruto. They accepted your youth and inexperience when you didn't have a Harem, but now that you do, they'll want to see you strengthen your line."

Naruto's lips curled into a fond smile as he leaned closer. "I know, Shikamaru. But I'll still visit you often. That's a promise."

"I'll hold you to that," I replied, half-joking but fully serious. "And after our child is born, and I've recovered, I'll be happy to return to your bed. But for now, you must look after the others."

He nodded, standing up to leave. "I'll send more gifts soon. Rest, Shikamaru. You're more precious now than ever."

Later that day, news of Naruto's decree spread through the Forbidden City. Alongside my promotion, it was declared that the Nara Clan would now hold the prestigious title of the Emperor's Main Strategists.

I couldn't help but feel the weight of it all. In a matter of months, my life had shifted from one of quiet simplicity to being the Emperor's first Consort to bear his child. I was bound to the Forbidden City forever, but in return, I would have a family of my own—something to love, something that would love me back.

Maybe that would be enough.
