The brisk air was like a smack in Visenya's face as she began to pilot Sunspear to survey the area. Aegon and Aegonar were following her looking to see what she would do. Noticing how the Army of the Dead were attacking the Northerners along with the Unsullied, Visenya looked over to Aegon, before giving him a small nod. Aegon immediately nodded back, both separating away from each other, each taking a portion of the field.
Just as Visenya opened her mouth to say the magic words...Daenerys beat her to it.
A few feet away, she saw her sister, riding Drogon burning the dead below them. However, what surprised her more was not her sister and Drogon.
But more so Jon and Rhaegal...also burning the dead.
Visenya shook her head in disbelief at the sight, and quickly glanced over to Aegon who was now burning a section of the battlefield rather quickly, due to how fast Aegonar truly was. Dragon fire erupted from all four dragons all over the battlefield, and the heat was so great that each of the four riders felt it from how high above the battle they were.
After Visenya told Sunspear to erupt a spew of dragon fire on the battle below, what caught her eyes was the incoming Wights and White Walkers on the hill up ahead. Visenya glanced over to Aegon who immediately nodded, and the two of them urged their dragons to fly over the forrest, and towards the meeting point where the rest of the Army of the Dead was converging.
As the two of them flew over the woods, Visenya, hearing another dragon roar behind her turned her head around, to see her sister and Jon following them. While everything was going smoothly, and while they had all hoped they had gone unnoticed by the mounted White Walkers on the hill.
That unfortunately wasn't the case.
No sooner they saw the four dragons heading their way, they immediately released a ferocious gale of blowing snow, towards the four dragons. Aegonar, being the fast dragon he was, was able to easily fly through it, as he was use to flying in horrible conditions.
Sunspear however wasn't.
She hated flying in storms.
She hated flying in bad weather.
Visenya's grip tightened as she tried to naviage The Gold Queen through the storm, and while Sunspear was roaring in agony on flying through harsh conditions, Visenya tried her best to calm her loyal companion.
"Gīda Sunspear, ao issi sȳz. (Easy Sunspear, you are alright)." Visenya began trying to try and calm her dragon as they flew through the icy conditions.
Out of the corner of her eyes, Visenya saw Jon and Rhaegal struggling to get through the icy conditions, seeing as how they were flying dangerously low towards the trees. Visenya's eyes widened in horror. In the back of her mind, she was confused as to why Daenerys would allow for him to ride Rhaegal, as he knew little to no Valyrian.
But then again, a couple hours prior, she prevented Aegon from riding Aegonar...and now he was riding Aegonar.
Once Visenya was through the storm, she glanced back behind her, realizing that both Rhaegal and Drogon almost crashed into one another, but thankfully they didn't. That's when Visenya was able to look down at the battle going on down below. No matter how much dragon fire they used, the Army of the Dead was still going on strong with an inhumane amount of stamina.
All of a sudden, Visenya noticed a bright glow from down below on the ground. Her eyes widened upon seeing how bright it was.
They had lighted the trenches.
It was bad.
Really bad.
From beyond the trenches, Visenya saw a swarm of White Walkers and Wights coming towards Winterfell, so she aimed Sunspear lower.
"Dracarys." She commanded, and within a matter of seconds, Sunspear's dragon fire erupted onto the undead soldiers, incinerating them instantly.
Seeing how they became incinerated, Visenya leaned back with a huff, but in a matter of moments, all of that changed. From where she could see, she saw the corpses from The Army of the Dead, immediately come right back to life, and begin to climb over the corpses that perished within the trenches.
They were loosing.
Bad.
Her eyes widened as she glanced up, hearing flapping coming from above her, and within a matter of seconds, she saw The Night King, riding Viserion, who was reborn as an Ice Dragon. With her eyes wide with horror, she piloted Sunspear, to not be within the line of fire of the Night King.
The last thing she wanted was for the dragon to perish.
No sooner she moved out of the dragon's way, she immediately followed The Night King and Viserion in a fast pursuit, ready to take him and the dragon down. The brisk air and snow hit her face once again making her turn her head slightly, and out of the corner of her eye, she was able to see Aegonar, Drogon, and Rhaegal following her, eager to intercept their opponents.
Visenya immediately urged for Sunspear to climb higher, and once they broke through the clouds, witnessing the light of the Moon behind them, she witnessed Viserion's blue fire erupt from his mouth. She closed her eyes and took a deep breath realizing what needed to occur to stop the dragon.
She needed to attack them.
Head on.
She opened her eyes, and a look of anger came onto her face.
"Angōs, Sunspear.(Attack, Sunspear)." She calmly commanded and recognizing her intentions, Sunspear let out a loud roar, and dove back through the clouds, flying faster than she ever had gone before.
While Drogon, Rhaegal, and Aegonar, laid dragon fire into the various undead soldiers, Visenya's only goal was to destroy The Night King and Viserion. Just as The Night King looked back and admired the damage he commanded Viserion to do to one of Winterfell's turrets, Sunspear was able to intercept The Night King, using her claws to scratch and grab onto Viserion as the two dragons began to engage into a fight.
Visenya held onto Sunspear for dear life, as Viserion dug his claws into Sunspear and vice-versa. Sunspear however, wouldn't let down, and attempted to bite down onto Viserion's neck, but Viserion was faster, as he bit down onto Sunspear's neck, sinking his teeth in.
In that moment Visenya thought of two options.
The first option was to let Sunspear die and fall to her death.
That option would not go rather well, with anyone.
The second option was to kill Viserion.
She couldn't do the second option with Sunspear, based upon the current state of how everything was going...but there was another way.
And it could go either really well or really really bad in a matter of moments.
And based upon how the battle was going...the odds were not in her favor.
But she knew what she needed to do.
It was the only way.
She needed to kill Viserion...by herself.
Unsheathing Dark Sister, Visenya carefully climbed forward a little so that she was resting on Sunspear's neck, and knowing in the back of her mind that Sunspear was unhappy...Visenya knew it was for the best. With the most amount of force that she had, she threw Dark Sister towards Viserion's eye, and within a matter of seconds, the sword embedded itself within the dragon's eye, causing it to let out a roar in pain.
In the process, Visenya lost her grip, and Sunspear, due to exhaustion, and due to how Viserion was attached to her, started to fall to the ground. Visenya held on as tightly as she could, knowing that Sunspear could be dead, and Visenya herself could die within a matter of seconds once she impacted against the ground.
With incredible speed, Sunspear hit the ground with incredible speed and force, to try and transition from flying to running, but was too late because the force was too great of an impact, and she ended up sliding on the ground, and ending up unconscious, along with knocking Visenya to the ground. Visenya looked a couple feet a head of her, seeing that Viserion was now dead...but The Night King, completely unphased by Sunspear had somehow survived the fall.
That's when she also noticed that Jon had landed Rhaegal and began to try and combat The Night King using Long Claw, but it was no use. Not only was he immune to dragon fire, but was difficult to defeat in combat, as he continued to cut down the various Wights that were coming back to life.
Visenya, quickly seeing the sight occur before her, got up off the ground, just as Jon turned around to look her in the eyes.
"Bran!" He called to her.
She immediately nodded and started sprinting towards the Godswood, knowing deep down in her mind that that's who The Night King wanted to take out. As she sprinted towards the Godswood, she saw Daenerys and Aegon, both still mounted on their dragons, working together to burn some of the returned Wights. She had a small smile come onto her face, seeing the sight.
They were working together.
Eventually, she somehow made it into the Courtyard unharmed and unnoticed, and ventured through various corridors with Dawn unsheathed, in case she encountered anyone or anything in her path. The only thing on her mind at this moment in time was Bran.
She had prayed to every God that he was still alright.
She had hoped the boy was still alive and Theon was protecting him.
She had hoped they both were alright.
She ran quickly into the Godswood and that's when her worse fears were made a reality.
The Night King was there.
Standing a few feet away from Bran...both looking at each other expectantly.
That's when she noticed the familiar body lying on the ground.
Theon was dead.
No sooner she stepped into the wavelength of the moonlight, The Night King laid his eyes on her, squinting at her presence. That's when she not only locked eyes with his lifeless blue ones, but when she saw the ice sword in his hands.
She knew what Jon had told her.
Only Valyrian steel was able to destroy them.
Dark Sister was still embedded in Viserion.
Dawn was not made of Valyrian steel.
She would die for Bran in a heartbeat.
And she was prepared to die.
Both of them ran towards each other, and clashed their swords against one another.
That's when something unexpected happened.
Dawn didn't shatter.
The Night King's ice sword immediately shattered once the two swords clashed together.
Visenya's eyes widened in shock, as she knew only Valyrian steel swords could withold to such a force. Seeing the sword shatter, and Dawn still intact surprised her to no end. It was an unthinkable feat...and deep in her mind, it should've been the other way around. The Night King himself was shocked by what had occurred as well, seeing his sword shatter within his hands. He was shellshocked at what had occured, but that small moment of vulnerability was all it took for it to occur.
Seeing how he allowed himself to fall into shock, allowing for him to fall defenseless, allowed for Visenya to counterattack, and deliver a final blow, straight into The Night King's abdomen...shattering him into a thousand tiny ice shards before her eyes. Visenya let out a huff of shock, as she felt herself hyperventilate falling to her knees in exhaustion and disbelief.
The Night King was dead.
She killed him.
They'd won.
One by one, the various bodies of the Wights present in the Godswood began to shatter before Visenya and Bran's very eyes, seeing as how their leader was dead. Visenya let out a sigh as she looked up from the ground seeing as how a gentle snow began to fall onto the ground. That's when she looked up to see Bran. He had the smallest smile on his face.
He was pleased that his visions came true.
Visenya immediately leaned back into the snow, allowing for herself to fully lay down in the snow, like she use to do when she was a child. She started to laugh, then cry, then smile in disbelief, still having difficulty what had occurred.
She won the Battle for Winterfell.
But not only that...but she also allowed for Aegon the Conqueror's prophecy to come true.
The Song of Ice and Fire.
And she finally realized that this unbelievable act, had made her what her ancestor believed and saw.
That she wasThe Prince That Was Promised.
