A Different Change

Saturday, October 26, 1985

Marty McFly and his girlfriend Jennifer Parker were about to enter the former's Toyota when they were interrupted by a strange sound and an approaching DeLorean. A DeLorean Marty quickly recognized as the car Doctor Emmett Brown turned into a time machine so he wasn't surprised when Doc Brown came out of it. When Marty took a look at Doc's clothes, however, things were different. 'Is that what people will be wearing in 2015?' He thought in confusion, remembering Doc said he'd visit that year.

"Marty, I'm glad I found you on time!" Doc commented with urgency in his voice. "Jennifer, would you excuse us for a while?"

After Jennifer nodded, Doc took Marty inside the DeLorean. "What happened, Doc?" Marty asked.

"It's not about something that happened, Marty, but something that will happen." Doc answered.

"What?" Marty was shocked. "Did I become an asshole in the future or something like that?"

"Tomorrow, Douglas Needles will challenge you to a car race." Doc warned Marty. "No matter what he says, refuse."

"Why wouldn't I?" Marty asked, unable to see himself taking such a stupid risk.

"Because he'll call you a chicken." Doc answered, making Marty frown.

"Nobody. Calls. Me. Chicken!" Marty stated.

"That's the kind of attitude that'll lead you to a bad future, Marty." Doc said. "As a result of the race, you will crash into a Rolls-Royce Silver Cloud I, be sued, and break a hand, forcing you to give up your music career."

"That's heavy, Doc." Marty commented.

"And it gets heavier." Doc replied. "The incident won't be enough to make you grow out of that mentality and, in October 21, 2015, it'll lead you into doing an illegal transaction that your supervisor will terminate your future employment for."

"Thank you, Doc." Marty uneasily replied.

"No, Needles." Marty replied to Needles' challenge.

"What's wrong, McFly?" Needles asked with a smirk. "Are you a chicken?"

"There are worse things to be, Needles." Marty calmly replied and left.

Upset, Needles drove away and almost hit the car Doc warned Marty about. Feeling relieved that Marty heeded his advice, Doc Brown decided to return to 2015 to see how it changed things. "I'm glad I didn't go with my original plan to have him impersonate Marty Jr. Knowing about any of his children would be too much." Doc Brown told himself.

Doc Brown went to Café 80's to check how the events of that day were altered by his changes to future's past. As he expected from previous visits, he was approached by a screen he was supposed to place his order to. He ordered a slice of Barbara's Bush Pie and a Pepsi Perfect.

While he waited for Marty Jr. and/or Griff to show up, two kids fixed an old arcade game called "Wild Gunman". After they tried (and failed) to figure out how the game worked, one of the boys decided to approach Doc. "Excuse me, Sir. How does this game work?"

"Like every game from the 80's, this one requests the players to use their hands." Doc explained, making the boys dismiss Wild Gunman as a baby's toy.

After the kids left, Marty Jr. entered and ordered a Pepsi Perfect. Doc couldn't help but notice that the boy sounded more confident than before he changed Marty Sr.'s past.

An old man then stood up. "Hey, McFly. I've seen you before. You're Marty McFly's son, right?" The old man asked.

"And you're Old Man Biff, right?" Marty Jr. asked. "My Dad said you knew my grandparents back when the three of you went to school."

"I'm Biff Tannen Sr. and yes, I used to go to school with George and Lorraine." Biff acknowledged. "It must be hard having big shoes to fill like George's or Marty Sr.'s."

"Not at all, Mr. Tannen." Marty Jr. replied. "The real issues are your grandson and his gang."

"Stand up to them like your grandfather eventually did with the bullies from our time." Biff ordered.

"They outnumber me." Marty Jr. argued.

"Have you already called them out for that?" Biff asked.

At that moment, Griff showed up and demanded Biff to do the second coating at his car. "McFly, don't go anywhere." Griff ordered Marty Jr.

"You're not the boss of me, Griff." Marty Jr. replied, showing Doc Brown that he's definitely not the same boy from the other future Doc visited.

"What did you say, McFly?" Griff asked with a frown that gave Doc another reason to believe the original plan of having Marty Sr. from 1985 impersonate Marty Jr. and tell Griff "no" wouldn't work.

"I said you're not the boss of me, Griff." Marty Jr. answered.

"Wow, I guess McFly does have escrote." Leslie "Spike" O'Malley, the only female in Griff's gang commented.

"We'll see that after I get Gramps to do his job." Griff said as he and his gang dragged Biff outside the café. Shrugging, Marty Jr. resumed drinking his Pepsi.

By the time Griff's gang returned, Marty Jr. had already finished. "So, McFly, have you thought about my business proposal?" Griff asked.

"Yes, Griff, and I'm not interested." Marty Jr. replied.

"Wrong answer, McFly." Griff said. "I guess Spike was wrong about you having escrote."

"I'm not the one hiding behind numbers, Griff." Marty Jr. replied, earning the approval of everyone not in Griff's gang.

Angered by Marty Jr.'s defiance, Griff brandished a baseball bat. "You asked for it, McFly!" He said and chased after his target.

Scared, Marty Jr. ran outside Café 80's, hopped into his hoverboard and fled. Griff's gang chased him on their own hoverboards. As they approached the lake in front of Courthouse Mall, Marty Jr. made a choice. "I'd rather pay the fine than face them." He decided and hoverboarded his way over the lake. Unfortunately, his hoverboard stopped moving as he was about to reach the other side of the lake. "Out of all the times I could forget to recharge the power." He moaned.

Griff Tannen then presented his own hoverboard, which had power, and told his gang to hook up. 'I can't believe he's that stupid.' Marty Jr. thought. 'His bionic implants must've done more harm to his brain than I thought.'

As Griff's gang was about to reach him, Marty Jr. jumped into the lake and the villains crashed into Courthouse Mall. As Doc Brown witnessed the gang being arrested, he picked up his U.S.A. Today paper and noticed that the blank space originally used to report Marty Jr.'s arrest was now filled with news of the gang's arrest. He also noticed the part about Queen Diana being replaced with one about 3D billboards but he paid no mind to that. Satisfied with the outcome, Doc entered his DeLorean and flew away.

"A flying DeLorean?" Biff asked in surprise. "It's the first time I see a DeLorean ever since flying cars became a reality."

Meanwhile, Terry approached Marty Jr. to ask for a donation to save the clock tower. Marty Jr. gave 200 dollars.
