The Deville You Know Ch21

When they got back to the hotel room, Paige called her mother and they had a very long talk that was still going into the early hours. Sonya sat on the bed and fought off her tiredness, wanting to be there for Paige at all times during the call. She was concerned, despite the show of support that took place at the arena earlier that night. Sonya recognised some of the wording from their argument, but it was far calmer and rational. Sonya tried not to eavesdrop on all of the side of the conversation she could here, but it wasn't a big room. But when she heard one thing, she woke up instantly.

"You want to talk to her? Mum, it's late, I'm not sure…..ok, let me ask." Paige held the phone away and spoke quietly. "Babe, my mum wants to talk to you, is that ok?"

"Do you want me to?" Sonya asked, to a nod of agreement. "Ok then." She said, taking the phone. "Hello Julia."

"Sonya. I wish there was a way I could do Sunday over again. I freaked out, I was a complete bitch and I ignored my daughters feelings out of fear. Then I treated you like you didn't matter to her. For that I am sorry, and I hope you will forgive me."

"Julia, I'm going to be blunt. You were really out of line, but I tried to make sure that Paige knew you still loved her and that what you said came from a good place. I'm glad to be right, but next time, I won't even try to do that. You had your one. But saying that, I'm really happy to hear you say what you just said, your apology is accepted and I really would like nothing more than to forget it ever happened."

"Me too, thank you. And of course, you are welcome here anytime. I'm hoping you will be able to visit again next time you're on tour here?"

Sonya walked into the bathroom with the phone, to her girlfriends annoyance. "If the schedule lets us, of course we will. But why wait till November, why don't you come out in the summer, maybe for Paige's birthday? I'll fly you both out and you could surprise her?"

"I love that idea, but it would be just me, Rick doesn't do flying anymore, although I can't ask you to pay for it." Julia said, humbled by the offer.

"You aren't asking, I offered, and it'll be worth it so see how happy she'll be to see you. Then you can spend a few days with us, and you'll see how happy we are together."

"Sonya, I didn't mean what I said about you two. It was a horrible case of denial on my part, and the surprise was too much for me to cope with at the time." Julia sounded genuine, yet hurt that this subject came up again, even indirectly.

"I'm sorry, I didn't mean to dig." Sonya was quick to apologise, not wanting to rock the boat. "It wasn't my place to tell you. And Paige wasn't ready, or so I thought at the time." This comment got a laugh from the other side, relaxing them both.

"She told us you were friends. But she certainly looked happy to have a new friend. She needed that, you know?"

Sonya got the hint that was being dropped. "Yeah, I know."

"Good. I don't care what gender you are, I need you to take care of my Princess. Don't you ever hurt her."

"Julia, on my life, I will never do that. I can't. She's very special to me, and she always will be."

"That's what I needed to hear. She's tough, but not as tough as she thinks."

"I know. Like I told you, I've been happy to take things as slow as she needs. No pressure. I just need to know she cares for me, and I've not doubted it since the day she told me had feelings for me."

Thanks Sonya. Look I better go, but I hope we talk soon." They ended the call and Sonya instantly opened the bathroom door to find Paige standing right there.

"Uhhh." Was all Paige could say.

"Busted. Listening in were we?"

"Uhhhhhhh, no? I couldn't hear anyway."

"Honey, relax, it was fine. We are all good."

"Really? That's so great." Paige really did look, and feel, like a huge weight just came off her shoulders. She hugged Sonya, and held on tighter than ever.

"It's ok Paige. It's ok." Sonya reassured her girlfriend.

"I know." Paige said as she finally let go. "It's just been a really emotional tour. Far more than I expected, because of my big mouth." She smiled as she said it.

"Why did you tell her? I thought that was never on the cards?" Sonya asked.

"Because they clearly loved you. They saw everything I wanted them to see about you. They accepted you, and I thought they were going to be happy for us. If I'd known it was going to go down like that, I'd never have done it."

Sonya was going red. Hearing all these compliments from Paige was almost too much. "Stop, you're embarrassing me. But I'm glad you did. You handled it better than I could have asked for, and you really stood up for us. If you keep that mindset, then you will be able to deal with anyone's negative response, if they even have them."

"I hope so. Its a while before we see my parents again, but I won't accept any more of what happened before from them."

Sonya grabbed Paige's arms, stopping her overstated gesturing. "You won't. Not based on the conversation tonight. It's all over and done with. They know, and they are ok. Now calm down, and come here." Sonya forced Paige into her and held her tightly, enjoying the closeness and especially the calming effect it had on her girlfriend. She felt Paige move her hands around to her head, pulling them into a kiss, while at the same time moving them towards the bed. Before there was any time to stop it, Sonya fell backwards onto the mattress, with Paige falling on top. Sonya was shocked by the passion of her girlfriend as she put a lot more into her kissing, as well her actions than she ever had in the past. It would have been turning her on, in fact it was turning her on, but she knew she had to watch herself. She made sure that she only kept her hands on Paige's back as they kissed deeply and extensively. She could hear tiny little moans coming from above her that only added to her enjoyment and her frustration, as she cursed the fact they'd agreed to wait till they returned home. She began to feel like she couldn't fight it anymore, and slowly moved her hands down, grabbing her girls rear end tightly, and getting a little shriek as Paige broke the kiss.

"Honey! Damn, that was amazing, you never did that before."

"I know, I couldn't help myself. Was it ok?" Sonya had lost a little confidence.

"It was fine. I want you to do that if you want to. I certainly liked it. It reminds me that I feel ready to take the, you know, 'next step' with you."

"I'm so happy to hear that, but not tonight, right?" Sonya wondered if there was a chance her wait was over.

"No. When we get back to yours. Somewhere more comfortable, and personal than a random hotel room. I want it to be a night we remember and for the right reasons. Where there's less pressure."

Only now did Sonya realise that Paige was still masking her feelings about them sleeping together. Not about her desire, but about another issue.

"Pressure? Honey, do you feel like I've put pressure on you? I'm so sorry if you have."

Paige quickly cut Sonya off with a kiss. "Of course not. Don't ever say that. We've been together for a little over a month, we go on dates, share hotel rooms, and we share a bed more nights than we don't. And yet you have never pressured me for sex. Not once. I have told you how I needed that, or we might have not made it. Now I feel like I want to be with you that way, and like we could make it."

"What do you mean, make it?"

"Like I see this going somewhere. Long term. That's what I really want. You once said that you just wanted a girlfriend. Well, you've got one for as long as you want it."

Sonya wiped a tear away before Paige saw it. She kissed her delicately on the cheek as she rolled her over so Paige was laying against her. Sonya holding her tight.

"Oh honey, that's really sweet. I feel the same way, but I don't want to talk about being 75 and retired somewhere. I want to talk about the now. How we feel now. I don't want you to think I'm saying this because of what might happen next weekend when we get back, and I don't even know if it's a good idea to say it at all so soon, but I need to tell you. Paige, I think I might be falling in love with you. No wait, that's not what I meant. I don't think I am, I just am. I'm falling in love with you. Actually, I'm not falling, more fallen. I have fallen in love with you. I guess what I should've just said is that, I love you Paige." Sonya wanted to crawl into a hole in the ground. She was angry at herself for blowing the moment, but she was also aware there had been no response from Paige. Not even any movement. Sonya was worried she had frozen, no idea how to respond, but then she heard something that made it all feel better. Paige made a small snort. She was asleep.

Sonya was always happy to have her girl fall asleep in her arms, but this time that was magnified many times and had an added sense of relief. "Oh thank god, when I tell you next time, I'll do it better. Sleep tight." She whispered before drifting off herself.

A.N.: Thanks for reading.

Sonya really blew her declaration of love, but luckily will get another shot sometime.

Next time, they are back in the US, and are on a promise. Do you think it will happen, or will one or the other put the brakes on the whole thing? Let me know what you think.
