The Deville You Know Ch23
"You're late, he left ages ago." Mandy hissed as she all but jumped into Sonya's car the moment it stopped.
"Geez Mand, next time I'll just cruise past with the window open." Sonya mocked, but her humour wasn't appreciated.
"Really, now you're going to be funny? Hurry up, we need to get to this cafe."
"Uh what cafe, there must be hundreds. I might need better directions." Sonya continued trying to be light hearted while she drove.
"It's called Mila's. It's got a patio and a huge parking lot, so we should be able to find a spot where we can see them, but they can't see us."
"How do you know they'll be there?"
"He left his email open, he suggested the place to her. It's a little way from here, so he figured he'd be safe from me. Well I'm going to get proof, I'm going to shove it in his face, down his throat, and then give him a sharp kick in the balls before I walk out on him for good."
"Come on Mandy, you don't know that he's cheating on you with this girl. I admit it doesn't look all that good, he's clearly been sneaking around from what you've been telling me, but it might be nothing. She might be a friend."
"A friend? If she was a friend, why has he been so secretive and not told me about her. Huh? Why?" Mandy was getting more and more worked up and Sonya decided to shut up, while at the same time planning in her head ways to make sure that Mandy didn't end up on TMZ by the end of the day. She was going to be there for her friend in any way that she had to be, but there was nothing that was going to ruin her good mood. "And why the hell are you grinning? You think I'm crazy don't you?"
Sonya laughed. "No Mand, you aren't crazy. Crazy would be denying there was an problem and not dealing with it. That's when your friend locks you in a room till it's fixed."
Mandy got the joke. "It worked didn't it? Better than I thought it would based on what you told me and, oh my god, that's why you're grinning."
"I don't know what you are talking about." Sonya knew she didn't sound believable, and she was completely right, not helped by the fact her smile was bigger than ever.
"Like hell you don't. That's why you were late too wasn't it?" Mandy asked, but not needing an answer. You look me in the eye and tell me it wasn't because you got morning sex, I dare you."
"Look, don't be mad, I know I was late, but we've made good time, we are nearly there, unless they both drank coffee so fast they scalded their insides, we will be fine."
"I want to be mad, honestly I am mad, but not at you. This whole thing shouldn't be needed. I want all the gossip, all the details. Actually, maybe not all of them." Mandy said, smiling for the first time that day, but the smile quickly disappeared as they turned into the parking lot for the block where the coffee shop was. They parked up at the far end, but still close enough to see what Mandy was looking for, as luck was on her side.
"There they are, right outside by the door." Mandy said, unable to stop staring. Sonya looked and Finn was indeed there, sat with a dark blonde haired woman. From what she could see, they had something on the table, but they certainly seemed to be enjoying each other's company.
"Look at them, flaunting it in public, making me look a fool." Mandy fumed. "If he kisses her, I'm going over there."
"Calm down, in fact that's a good point, the fans know you and he are a thing, if he's cheating, why wouldn't they have a table in the back corner, or get the coffee to go?" Sonya asked, thinking she was making a good point.
"Because he doesn't care about me. I wonder if he ever did. Maybe it was all just sex to him, and now I'm getting thrown away like an old Kleenex. I don't know. Asshole." Mandy clearly believed what she was saying, and Sonya had no idea how to get her to relax a little. She just kept watching both them and her, continuing to be ready to stop her friend creating a scene.
"But if he doesn't care about getting caught with her, why not just come clean?" Sonya was genuinely trying to help, but even she knew this question was a bad idea as soon as she asked.
"Because he doesn't care how this affects me. I'm the one who gets cast aside and looks like a loser while he gets applauded like a hero for nailing that Latin hussy."
"Mand, it won't go that way. You have your fans too, and they won't be thrilled to see you messed about, if that's even what he's doing."
"You doubt it? Just look at them?!" Mandy was losing it at this point.
"I am looking. I see two people, having a conversation, drinking coffee, getting up, walking this way, quick, hide!" Sonya and Mandy both quickly dropped down in their seats as Finn and his unidentified companion got into a car just four spots down from them and drove away, luckily not passing them as they left the lot. Sonya started her car and pulled out slowly, making sure that they stayed at a safe distance to not get seen.
"That was a bit close." Sonya remarked.
"What do you want from me, I don't know what type of car man-stealing whores drive. Just keep following them." Mandy pouted.
"I am, but you need to chill, you need to focus on something else for a minute, something good."
"Fine, you wasn't to distract me, tell me about this morning."
"What?" Sonya nearly swerved the car at the request.
"Well it made you late, so it must have been good, and you wanted to focus on something good." Sonya noticed the smirk on her friends face.
"Fine." She rolled her eyes. "But you always said you didn't want to know. When my alarm went off, I tried to get up, but she threw an arm over me and held me down, then pulled me into her. I broke her grip but she kept pulling me back into bed. When I actually got up, she surprised me and threw me back, ended up straddling me. Gave me the choice that I stayed or she would make me stay. She was playing obviously, so I dared her to make me stay. That's when she started sucking on my…..".
"Ok, stop!" Mandy shrieked, interrupting before Sonya could say another word.
"My neck, Mandy, my neck." Sonya quickly finished her sentence. "It's a weak spot, and she knows it. From there one thing lead to another."
"Yeah, you are right, I still don't want to know the details of you two's sex life." Mandy conceded.
"Told you." Sonya was now the one smirking.
"But seriously, even though I'm not exactly thrilled with my own love life right now, I'm still genuinely happy for the pair of you. You have seemed like a different person these last couple of months, and there is no doubt in my mind she is why. Sure I've seen less of you, but just from talking to you at work and on the phone its been really great to see you happy, so i don't mind."
"Aw, thanks. I mean, it is great. She's, well she's special. It's been a much bigger upheaval for her and she takes time to make sure that I'm looked after as much as I look after her. She hasn't let all the crap she went through stop her being affectionate, yeah we only just started sleeping together, but she was always caring. I can't think what more I could want."
Oh my god, do you hear yourself?" Mandy asked, but with the right intention. "You're completely gone, you're in love with her."
Sonya nodded. "I am. I even told her once, but she was asleep, thank goodness."
"Thank goodness?" Mandy was confused at this.
"Yeah, when we are together, she comes across like this is a normal relationship, but that's for my benefit. She had to go through a lot to decide this was what she wanted, and still has a lot to deal with. Right now if I add to her insecurities, put her in another difficult position by telling her I love her then that could be a bridge too far. This has only happened because I've put no pressure on her, and she's done it all at her pace, which is what she wanted. Like you said, it's going so great, and I don't want to even think about risking losing her."
"I get that, but does she know you have these fears?" Mandy asked to a head shake. "Then either tell her how you feel, or share your concerns. I think you'd be surprised."
"Surprised?"
"Yeah, remember I saw her feelings for you before you did. I'm not saying there aren't obstacles for her, and the two of you ahead, but I don't think the way she feels about you is one of them. She's not going anywhere."
"You think?" Sonya asked, looking for validation.
"Trust me." Mandy said with warmth which melted away almost immediately after. "They're pulling over, stop here."
They stopped about ten car lengths behind Finn and his mystery woman, parking up. This quickly became an issue when they started walking back towards them.
"Oh crap, hide!" Mandy whispered and the two ducked down. It was unnecessary as the two who were being spied on crossed the road and went into a house.
"I can see them in there. I swear if they go upstairs I'm breaking the door down."
"Sure that will go down well. Mandy, if he's cheating, why not just kick him to the curb. Why all this?"
"Because I don't want to end it. I love him. You know how that feels. I am not losing him to some bitch who has to pursue other peoples men. Wonder why she can't find one of her own." Mandy wasn't really asking the question, just trying to put this woman down as much as she could as she didn't take her eyes off of the house. Sonya looked too and saw the two sat at a table towards the back of the room. They seemed to be looking through paperwork in a folder, sat very close together while they did so.
"Is she holding his hand?" Mandy asked, clearly wanting to get angry.
"I can't tell and neither can you, calm down before you do something stupid." Sonya responded firmly.
The conversation inside seemed to continue for a little while longer. But then they both stood up, and embraced each other. Sonya hung her head, knowing what was going to happen.
"What the hell?"
"Mandy, it might be nothing."
"What the hell!"
"Dont do…."
"That bitch!" Mandy was out of the car and at the door in a heartbeat, banging on it loudly.
"…Something stupid." Sonya went after her friend but the door was opened by Finn before she got there.
"Mandy? What…what are you doing here?" The perfectly normal question was met by a hard slap across the face that staggered even the in ring experienced Balor.
"Whats going on? Who are you and what are you doing here?" The Hispanic lady stood up and demanded.
"I'm his girlfriend. Does that word even mean anything to you, you tramp? I should end you right now!" Mandy went for her rival, but found herself held back. Finn had recovered quickly and had her lifted off the ground keeping her help tight while she flailed around trying to get free and her hands on the woman who she continued to stare at. "Let me go Finn, see if you still want her after I claw her damned eyes out!"
"Mandy please, you have this wrong. Listen to me."
"I don't want to hear your lies. You asshole! You cheating asshole."
"Listen to me, I'm not cheating. Vela is my realtor." Finn sounded genuine and Mandy stopped fighting, so Finn let her go.
"Your realtor?"
"Yes, didn't you see the sign outside, her face is on it." While Mandy couldn't find the words to respond, Sonya, who had stayed back while this all went on, went back to the doorway and saw that there was indeed a sign. She silently indicated to Mandy that this was indeed true.
"So you aren't sleeping with her?" Mandy asked.
"No, of course not. One, I'm not that sort of person, and two, when I've got you, in what universe would I ever want to cheat?"
"And three, for what it's worth, I'm married." Vela, the realtor added, holding her left hand up to show her wedding ring. "And I'm not a cheat either. This is business."
"Yeah, I just bought this house." Finn revealed.
"But why? I mean it's beautiful, but I loved your old apartment." Mandy found she had a question for everything.
"Well I'm on much better money, that was only ever meant to be a starter place while I was on NXT. And now, I thought I needed something bigger, as I was hoping that I might not be living alone for much longer."
"Not living alone? Why not, who have you got moving in?" Mandy was completely oblivious to what was being hinted at.
"Oh my god." Sonya whispered to herself, embarrassed for her friend at this moment.
"Well, you." Finn said.
"Me?" Mandy still didn't get it.
"Yeah, I've had my eye on this area for a long time, and now a place finally came up for sale, I moved as quick as I could. Now I've got it, and the added bonus that I know you like it, I'm hoping you might want to move in here too?" Finn tried the direct approach.
"You, you want me to move in with you?"
"Thank goodness." Sonya thought to herself, relieved Mandy got there.
"Yes. I love you. I know we haven't been together even a year yet, but this seemed to be a sign. Why I wanted to make sure it happened. So, will you?" Finn asked.
"All the calls, the texts, the secrecy, was just because you wanted me to live with you?" Mandy was still asking questions, to the bewilderment of the others.
"Yes, but if you don't answer me soon, I might have to reconsider the fact I just signed the contracts." Finn said, clearly joking.
"No, don't, I'd love to live here, I'd love to live with you." Mandy felt both overjoyed and embarrassed beyond belief. She jumped into Finn's arms and they began kissing deeply.
"Uhhhh. You guys ok if I take off?" Sonya said.
"I think I should take my leave as well. Mr Balor, I'll be in touch."
"Yes, thank you so much Vela, I'm sorry about this." Finn answered his realtor.
"I'm so sorry too. I'm such an idiot." Mandy said, climbing off Finn.
"It's ok. If my husband cheated, I'd be the same or worse." The two ladies shook hands and Vela left.
"Yeah, I'm off too. Do you have a ride?" Sonya asked.
"We'll get an Uber or something later. I want my Finn to show me our new house first, I want to break it in." Even though there was no furniture in the house, Sonya got the hint, although she then wondered how she missed that fact too.
"I'll call you ok, but not till tomorrow. I promise." Sonya headed back to her car, she was relieved that her friend wasn't getting messed around, but seeing them happy together had her heart full, so there was only one place she wanted to go.
It took a little over an hour for Sonya to reach Paige's house, driving through a typical Florida downpour. She arrived safely and rang the doorbell. What opened the door wasn't exactly the beauty she had in her head.
"Hey Sonya, what are you doing…Achoo!" Paige tried to get out but she was clearly unwell, sneezing three times.
"Oh my god, honey, what happened? You were fine this morning." Sonya said as she went to hug her girlfriend, only to get blocked.
"You better not. I felt awful this afternoon, but better after a nap. I'm ok now, but I don't want you catch it." Paige, who wasn't exactly believable to begin with, was barely able to have her words understood. She then sneezed twice more, then blowing her nose with a Kleenex from her pocket.
"Ok, you're many things, but you aren't ok. We need to get you back inside, like right now." Sonya forced her way in, putting her arm around Paige to direct her. She led her to the sofa and laid her down.
"Right, don't you move, I'm getting blankets and hot drinks." She instructed, going to the closet and finding the blanket and a pillow. She brought them back and laid them over Paige who didn't have the strength to stop her. Sonya then went to the kitchen and, unable to find any cold remedy, made a mug of hot tea for each of them. She added milk to each and brought them in. "Here, drink this, then I'll go out and find a late night drugstore, or Walmart, get you some meds." Sonya said as she passes over one mug.
"I'm fine." Was the least convincing protest Sonya ever heard.
"No, you aren't, you need fluids, so drink up." She pulled Paige's feet onto the couch so she was laid down, and moved to the other end, since it was quite a long piece of furniture. Paige finally took some of her tea, but moved herself up so she could lay her head on Sonya's lap.
"I am, let me show you." Paige mumbled as she used all her energy to move up so her head now was on her girlfriends shoulder, while trying to subtly slide her hand inside Sonya's shirt. In her fevered state, this was as subtle, and seductive, as a punch in the face, and Sonya both stifled a laugh, and cursed internally that she still found herself aroused. She snapped out of it quickly though.
"Honey, it's rare I'll ever turn this down, but you need to rest. Drink up and just watch some tv with me." She said, looking for a movie that they had seen before so it didn't take a lot of focus. She found one and shifted her body fully onto the sofa, cuddling her girl so help her rest.
"Mmm. Don't go." Paige just about got out audibly.
"Don't go? Why would I go?" Sonya asked.
"Get meds tomorrow. Stay here now." This was easier to understand for the most part, and Sonya could have kicked herself that she didn't get it the first time.
"Ok honey." Sonya didn't want to fight. "But if you get worse i won't have a choice." There was no argument to this, as Paige pulled the blanket up over them both. As she watched the movie, she soon realised that Paige's breathing has gotten far less laboured, and knew that she had fallen asleep on her. She wasn't in the least bit upset by this, and she wrapped her tighter. Taking care of her girl wasn't a chore, it wasn't a task. When she saw she was needed she jumped straight into it, because she simply wanted to make her feel better. And now, as she held her tightly in her near unwakeable sleep, she never felt closer to her. Yeah, she wasn't going to have the opportunity to tell her how she was feeling tonight, but she was even less afraid now, it was just about making sure that she did it in the right way.
A.N.: Thanks for reading.
Good to see Finn hasn't completely lost his mind lol.
Mandy moving in with her love had Sonya making decisions that were thwarted when Paige was in no state to do anything. I had a cold last week that came on strong in about two hours so took that for this.
Sonya still wants to tell Paige she loves her, again, but properly this time. Will she find the right way to do it, and what reaction do you think she will get?
