Flash and Felicia found Eddie Brock at Our Lady of Saint Church.
"Never really pegged as Eddie Brock as the religious type," said Felicia.
"He appears to have quite the following," Flash noted as they saw a number of people making their way into the church.
"In fairness to them, I don't think they want to turn into giant mutated spiders," Felicia pointed out. "Though I do admit this has the makings of a religious cult."
"I can easily move mingle in with the rest of the Congress," said Flash.
Felicia then grabbed his shoulder. "The general said that Ghost Spider is on her way, and she has far more experience with Eddie Brock. Maybe we should wait for her?"
"We can't waste any more time; you've seen the chaos out there."
"I'm a little more concerned with the chaos in the church if you go in guns a blazing. Besides, he may be more than willing to help us."
"Are you figure that?"
"By all intents and purposes, you want to cure everyone of the spider disease, and you're allowing him to cure the entire city," Felicia pointed out.
"I don't know, babe; I still don't think he'll listen to reason. Also, he might go after Ghost Spider when she gets here. Didn't he already attack Spider-Man once in trying to cure him?"
Felicia bit her lip. "Okay, but promise that you'll at least talk to him before attacking him."
"I'll try, but if they resist, I have no other choice," Flash warned.
Flash jumped into the street and moulded the symbiont to blend in with the crowd. He made his way inside and could already see Anti-Venom at work.
"Heal through forgiveness, my friends," he said rather dramatically. "I can heal the venom you've been infected by. But heal altogether you must forgive the weakness of others, love your fellow man." He successfully cured the man he was working on but suddenly became rather weak. "I sacrificed my body to you. Through this, I, too, heal. I am the hand of God."
The scientists gave Flash some sedatives to keep his symbiont under control, but he remembered his promise to Felicia. Unfortunately, Eddie immediately lashed out and grabbed him before he had a chance to say anything.
"You dare come here?!" he roared as Flash's symbiont began to cover him. I will be pulled back down! I am reborn in the light!"
Flash used all his strength to push Eddie off him and sent him flying through the stained-glass window. He then quickly rushed outside just as Eddie began to pick himself up.
"Do you know what that thing's doing to you?" Eddie asked. "Of course, if you did, it would never have bonded to you. It chose you. It will drink your soul, leaving behind only cancerous excrement. It's not a black monster from space. It's a demon sent from hell."
Eddie began dealing Flash a few blows as he spoke, but then Felicia jumped in and kicked him back.
"I thought you promised you would talk to him," she said.
"He attacked me before I got a word in edgewise," Flash protested.
Eddie began to pick himself up and looked surprised to see Felicia. "So you have an associate, tell me, does she walk down the same dark path as you?"
Felicia blinked. "He's really taking this religious thing to a whole new level."
"You didn't hear his sermon earlier," said Flash.
Even though it was now two-on-one, they still had problems apprehending Eddie. Felicia tried several times to convince Eddie they were on the same side, but he kept preaching. It also didn't help that Flash contradicted that he went on the offensive. Felicia was starting to wonder if Eddie had the right idea about the symbiont.
"Who is it that you're trying to fight?" Eddie asked.
"You, Brock," said Flash, who sounded as if he was starting to lose his temper.
"Poor misguided lamb," said Eddie as he lunged at Flash with his claws, "I know the pain you suffer. You think you're making the choice of free will, but you're not."
"Will you shut up!" Flash yelled, punching him across the face.
"Calm down, Babe," said Felicia. "Remember, we need him alive."
"You try telling him that!" he snapped.
"I've been trying to explain, but every time I try, you hit him."
"Because he's tried to hit me!"
"Geez, get a room, you two," said a voice.
They looked up and saw that Gwen was landing on a lamppost.
"Honestly, you two sound like an old married couple," she said.
Flash was glad the symbiont was covering his face because he had a strong feeling that he was blushing a bright pink.
"So, yet another lost soul wishing to seek a cure," said Eddie.
"Okay," said Gwen slowly. "What's the whole preaching thing about?"
"No clue," said Felicia.
Gwen then jumped off the lamppost. "How will you let me do the talking? Both me and Eddie have history."
"If I history, you mean he's been trying to tear you to pieces," said Flash.
Gwen looked at him. "Last time I checked, you're the one wearing the symbiont that was trying to tear me to pieces, Flash."
Flash's eyes widened. "How do you know it was me?"
"Apart from the fact that you just told me," she said.
Flash groaned. "How does Spider-Man handle the whole secret identity thing?"
Gwen then turned her attention to Eddie. "Eddie, none of us really want to fight you; we want your help."
"So you mean that you do wish to be cured," said Eddie.
"In a sense," said Gwen. "You made me the key to cure the entire city of this spider disease. If you come to Horizon Labs with me, we might be able to spread your gift throughout the city."
"I will be able to spread my message and cure all those who have been afflicted?" Eddie asked.
"That is our hope," said Gwen.
"Then I shall come with and purge the city of the disease that infects it," said Eddie.
Flash just stared at Gwen dumbfounded. "How did she manage to do that?"
"I believe it's called talking," said Felicia, folding her arms.
"Not this again," Flash moaned.
"Now, maybe we should use this opportunity to visit your dying father," Felicia suggested. "Trust me, you don't say goodbye to your father, and you'll regret it for the rest of your life."
Flash looked at her and reluctantly nodded.
Gwen, meanwhile, escorted Eddie all the way to Horizon Lab, where Reed met them.
"Ghost Spider, I see you successfully persuaded Mr Brock to assist us," said Reed.
"All old Venom needed to say was that you needed help, and I would assist," said Eddie.
Gwen looked at Reed. "It's a long story, but Eddie has agreed to help us."
"That's good because we certainly do need the help," said Reed.
"Lead the way I will make any sacrifice to cure this sickness," said Eddie.
"That's good because we're going to need every single antibody you have," said Reed. "Which means after this, you will no longer be Anti-Vemon."
"What?" Eddie stared.
"On the plus side, you'll be able to have a perfectly normal life after it, and everyone will see you as a hero," said Gwen.
Eddie looked at Reed. "Lead the way."
Harry then approached Gwen. "Have you heard anything from Peter or Ben?"
"Not a word," said Gwen, concerned. "I'm confident the two are helping in their own way. Has MJ arrived with the girls?"
Harry shook his head. "No, they haven't arrived, and they should've got here a while ago."
"They possibly delayed, considering the entire city is now swarmed with spiders," said Gwen.
"Maybe you should go look for them?" Harry suggested.
"I would love to, but it would be like trying to find a needle in a haystack," said Gwen regretfully. "I'm sure MJ is fine. She's got the girls with her, and those two toddlers can pack a punch."
Harry nodded. "That's true enough, but I'm still worried."
MJ was swinging through the city of Manhattan, dodging the mutated spiders while carrying her girls.
"You know, I'm starting to see why your father enjoys this so much," said MJ.
"I wish we had our own web shooters," said May.
"Yeah, then we could swing across the city whenever we like," said April.
"Which is exactly what your father doesn't want to give your web shooters into your much older," said MJ strictly.
Both girls moaned.
"Help! Somebody! Please!" a voice cried out.
MJ looked at the girls. "You to hold on two Mommy tightly."
She then immediately swung towards Our Lady of Saint Church, which was completely filled with cured people who were now being attacked by a whole mess of spider people.
Under normal circumstances, someone would criticise MJ for bringing her girls into a potentially dangerous situation. Fortunately, these were not normal circumstances, and the girls had superpowers.
They jumped through the shattered stained-glass window and landed inside the church, where the spider people were advancing towards the ordinary people. MJ immediately jumped into action, taking down several of them, and the girls beat back a few of them themselves.
"Don't worry, ladies and gentlemen. The Parkers are here to save the day," said MJ as she wept at one of the spiders with her organic web shooters. "Girls, I want you to help evacuate the people here."
"Can't we fight with you?" April asked.
"I'm still your mother, and I don't want to see the two of you hurt," said MJ strictly. "Besides, these people are going to need you to protect them; it's a very important job."
"Okay, Mommy." May nodded and turned to the stunned crowd. "Everyone this way!"
"Just follow us," said April.
None of the people argued about taking orders from a couple of toddlers and immediately followed them outside. This left MJ to deal with the spider people, and she slowly started to understand why her husband took his responsibilities as a hero seriously. If he didn't, someone could easily die.
"Where are we supposed to go?"
"The entire city was swarming with spiders!"
"Where are the heroes?"
"Everyone make your way to Horizon Labs; it's the safest place in the city right now," said MJ.
"This would never have happened if that Vemon creature hadn't taken away our saviour."
MJ had no idea what they were discussing, but that didn't matter. What mattered right now was getting all these people to safety.
At Horizon's Labs, Reed had finally created a cure for the virus; all he needed to do was test it. Fortunately, he had his first test subject, a young woman named Jaffrey, who Gwen understood was very antagonistic towards Peter.
"This is very brave of you, Ms Jaffrey, volunteering to be our first test subject," said Reed. "My calculations are correct, but you'll be completely cured of the Spider-Island virus. Ready?"
"No," she said.
Then, suddenly and abruptly, she suddenly transformed into a human spider. Both Gwen and Jess had to hold her down so that Reed could inject her with the cure.
"How'd she turned so quickly?" Gwen asked.
"I don't know; she wasn't due to transform for another few hours," said Reed as he injected the cure into her.
"Tell her that," said Jess. "Looks like we're about to see how fantastic you are!"
She struggled even after being administered the cure, but then she started to slow down as she began to transform back to normal.
"So, is it a coincidence that she transformed into a spider moments before you're about to cure her?" Gwen asked.
"No, there is definitely in intelligence at work," said Reed.
"I can no longer feel her," said Spider-Queen. "Her link to the Great Web has been severed! I sent Spider-King to eliminate—I can't send him either. Everything is unravelling! We must do something!"
"Already ahead of you, ma'am," said Jackal, smiling broadly. "They are located in Horizon Labs, and as fortune would have it, we have an inside man as my pet Tarantula here knows how Parker thinks. Don't you, boy?"
Tarantula bow. "Yes."
At Horizon Labs, Gwen had her hands full trying to secure the place of the spider, and people began swarming the place.
"I think it's safe to say they know we have the cure now," said Gwen.
"Indeed," Reed agreed. "According to our friends in the force, Spider-King turned out to be Steve Rogers, who they've been able to cure."
"The day gets stranger and stranger would seem," said Gwen.
"We're working as fast as we can to get the cure out, but that is going to take some time," said Harry.
Then, suddenly, a burst of flames shot out of the table. Gwen initially thought that it was Mephisto but saw that it was, in fact, Madame Web.
"Fool!" she yelled.
"Security! We have a breach!" Max yelled.
"Stand down," said Gwen. "She's not an enemy. Her name is Julia Carpenter, also known as Madam Web."
"I am a psychic," she said rather dramatically. "Able to see every possible future along the Great Web of Life…"
"The what of whatit?" Ben Grimm frowned.
"That is until you geniuses put up those psychic jamming towers!" she said, frowning a small. "The same technology that ruined Spider-Man's spider-sense. And now you're playing havoc with my visions. You are preventing me from finding true victory. Fix it! Now!"
The flames then disappeared, as did Madam Web.
"I'll say this: the lady knows how to make an exit," said Ben Grimm.
"Cassandra always had a flair for the dramatic; I guess Julie inherited more than her powers," said Gwen.
"That was more than a little disturbing," said Max. "Both Peter and I built the prototype. We knew that it would disrupt Spider-Man's spider-sense."
"And it did," said Gwen. "During his fight with Scorpion, Spider-Man's remote was destroyed, forcing him to activate manually so he was caught in the radius of the shockwave."
"I have been trying to find a cure for him, but recent developments have kept me busy," Reed admitted.
"Maybe we can use the ring to our advantage," said Max. "Spider-Man must still be in the city and rebroadcast the correct frequency. We may be able to give him back his spider-sense."
"It's worth a try," said Gwen.
Peter and Ben, meanwhile, managed to make their way back to Horizon Labs.
Are you sure you'll be able to come up with something? Ben asked.
"I had all my equipment moved here," said Peter as they made their way to the hatch. "Harry also made sure that all of my spider equipment was moved into a disused lab. I'm sure between the two of us will be able to cobble something together."
Peter then placed his hand against the DNA scanner, and it opened, although he noticed something odd.
"That's strange," he said as they entered the building. "It already said that I was logged in, but I don't see how. The system only recognises DNA so—"
"Get back!" Ben yelled and quickly pulled him back.
Seconds later, shooting out of the darkness with Tarantula.
"Good think one of us still has their spider-sense," said Peter.
"Well, well," said a familiar voice. They looked up and saw a monitor attached to Tarantula's body, with the Jackal looking directly at them. "Parker and my failed reject altogether."
"Jacka?!" Peter stared. "How did you get in here?"
"Allow me to introduce to you Tarantula, but I'm sure the two of you will know him better as your messed up brother Kaine," Jackal sneered.
"What?!" they yelled, quickly dodging Tarantula swiping at them.
They continued to fight against Tarantula or, as they now knew him, Kaine, but he knew their moves in and out. To make matters worse, since he had Peter's DNA, he had access to the entire building, which allowed him to enter the section where Eddie was stored.
Jackal had provided him with some concoction that would no doubt disrupt the cure, but thankfully, Peter was able to snag it from him before he could throw it. Ben then jumped him, but he was sent flying across the room. He grabbed Peter, placing him directly above the tank containing the antibodies, which would also cure him of his powers.
"Class is dismissed, Mr Parker," Jackal laughed. "You lose."
However, at the same time, Reed, Max, and every scientist in Horizon Labs found the correct frequency. The moment they sent the frequency across the entire city, Peter felt his spider-sense returning, but it was now stronger than ever.
Even blind due to the webbing in his eyes, he was able to see Tarantula's attacks coming. His kung fu, which he had learned, had amplified his ability, and now he was overpowering Tarantula. With one good blow, he was able to send him into the tank of antibodies, and they cured Kaine completely.
"A little help over here?" Kaine groaned as he pulled himself out.
Peter and Ben quickly helped him out.
Ben then helped him to his feet. "Kaine, are you—"
"Less spidey?" he said as he looked up. "Yeah."
His appearance quite took aback both Peter and Ben because he looked far younger than the last time they had seen him, and he looked exactly like Peter.
"Kaine, you look like me with long hair," Peter blinked.
"Guess your transformation into a spider cured you of your deterioration," said Ben.
"There's always a silver lining," said Kaine. "And you guys should know who is really behind everything. Miles Warren is only a tool; the real mastermind behind all of this is the Queen."
Peter's eyes widened. "The Queen is back?"
"Is there anyone who has been brought back from the dead?" Ben sighed.
"I think right now we've got another problem," said Peter.
Sure enough, the commotion they made in the lab had sounded the proximity alarms at any moment now; Max and everyone else were going to swarm into it. Usually, there would be a problem, except there was no way to explain Kaine, considering his hair was longer than Peter's.
"Any suggestions?" Ben asked.
"Kaine, switch outfits with me," said Peter as he desperately removed his costume. "And dump your uniform into the tank."
"What about Brock?" Kaine asked as he did what he was told.
"He's out of it," said Ben.
As luck would have it, just as they were about to investigate the lab, the proximity alarms sounded outside, forcing everyone to investigate that instead.
"Now, of all times, we get a breach?" said Hobie.
"Why not seems the night before it," said Harry.
They quickly rushed to the entrance, but no one was prepared for what happened next. Swinging into the lab was MJ, with a large group of cured people behind her, along with her girls.
"Mrs Parker?" Hobie stared.
"And still on stage II, no less?" said Reed. "I didn't know there were any in stage II left."
"Yowza!" Ben Grimm blinked as she landed right in front of them. "That's what I call a Spider-Woman."
"Standing right here," said Jess.
"And I'm something of a spider woman myself," Gwen added.
"Oops," said Ben.
"Sorry for bursting in unannounced Mr Richards," MJ apologised. "But I have to get these people that Anti-Vemon cured through 20 blocks of man man-eating spiders before I got the case of the eight-legged fuzzies. I don't suppose there's anything you can do?"
"Personally, I think you look good, Red," said Ben.
"Ben's right," said Reed. "You should have reached Stage II hours ago and should have already entered Stage III. At this low rate of progression, you will be days away from transforming."
"Great, but why does it seem like I'm a late bloomer?" MJ asked.
"To put it delicately, Mrs Parker," said Reed, shifting rather uncomfortably. "I think you have developed an immunity from all the times you've been... close with your husband."
Ben snorted.
"Grow up, Ben?" said Jess.
MJ blushed. "T-That's great. Speaking of where's my husband?"
"That is a very good question," said Gwen.
They soon went to investigate the source of the break-in in the lab. There, they found Spider-Man and Scarlet Spider standing next to Peter, who was currently covered in a lab coat.
"That answers that question," said Ben.
"And raises a few more," said Jess.
MJ covered May and April's eyes. "Peter, what are you doing?"
"It's complicated," said Peter. "Well, long story short, I got turned into a giant spider and was forced to break into Horizon Labs to eliminate Brock. It would have been successful if Spider-Man and Scarlet Spider had stopped me and pushed me into the tank."
"Which is then cured you," said Max.
Reed then stretched his lead out towards them. "Peter, is really going on here?"
"The Jackal brought back Kaine somehow," Peter whispered.
"It's where there's three of us now," said Ben.
"Additionally, my old enemy, the Queen, is the mastermind behind all this," said Kaine.
"That certainly explains a lot," said Reed.
"Daddy!" May cried.
"Pappa!" April yelled.
The two girls rushed over to Peter and hugged him.
"Oh, and glad that both you and your mother got here safely," Peter smiled at them.
"Daddy, guess what! Mommy has superpowers now!" May cried excitedly.
"S-She has?" Peter blinked.
"That's right, Tiger," MJ smiled. "But you don't don't have to worry about me going eight heavy late any time soon. Apparently, I've got a bit of immunity to the virus from all my close encounters with you."
"Oh, that's great," Peter blushed.
"I take it that Max successfully brought back your spider-sense?" Gwen assumed, approaching them.
Peter nodded. "And it couldn't have happened at a more crucial time."
"I put all your gear in one of the empty labs," said Harry. "Along with a change of clothing."
"Thanks," said Peter. He then looked at MJ. "I have to get back out there, but I want you and the girls to remain here."
"Go get them, Tiger," MJ smiled.
Peter, Ben and Kaine then went to the lab where Harry had put Peter's stuff.
"I got a new suit ready for dealing with the Queen," said Peter, then looked at Kaine. "She's still got that sonic scream."
"Oh, yes," Kaine nodded.
"My stuff suit has three settings," said Peter as he introduced the suit. Green bends light and sound. Red provides sonic shielding. White is off mode."
"Looks good," said Kaine as he removed his mask. "I'll take it."
"You can't just call dibs," Peter argued.
"Why not?" Kaine asked. "Why should you always get the best of everything?"
"I agree," said Ben.
"I'm not going to argue," Peter sighed. "Let's get suited up again and finally put an end to this nightmare."
"Let's just hope we're not too late," said Ben.
Madam Web was having a massive migraine; ever since they had created that spider field around the city, she had been unable to make head, head or toe regarding the Web of Life. However, something had recently changed, and the future was becoming more clear.
"What have they done?" she said. "My connection to the Web of Life has been amplified! It's now out of control! I can see the future so clearly now…" Her eyes widened in horror. "Oh no! The Queen! She—she has—"
Spider-Queen had just lost her connection to Tarantula.
"I don't know what happened, but I lost connection to Tarantula," said Jackal.
"As have I," she said furiously and turned on him. "You have filled me again, Professor! Well, no more. Do you hear me?! No more!"
"Your Majesty, wait! I can—"
Spiderr-Queen was not interested in his pleas and immediately unleashed an earsplitting scream. However, to her surprise, when it struck the Jackal, he instantly burst into flames and died instantly.
"Our scream, it flayed the meat from his bones," she said, stunned as she looked at his remains. "It has never been that strong before." A small smile then creaked upon her face. "It would seem as if we've gained more power. Our connection to the web has grown even stronger. Power is just flowing into us from all our subjects! More power than we have ever known before!"
"She has the power of God," said Madam Web horrified. "I did this. The one time I blindly interfered, and now I have doomed us all."
