What if the one to respond to Hakuno's determination wasn't Nero, Tamamo or Nameless - but instead Salter?
After playing CCC, my love for Extra from years ago was reawakened, and I wanted to put my own spin on it. Also CCC and the subsequent replay of Extra really made me get really into Hakuno x Rin, so that's what this is.
This story won't be just a retelling of Extra but with Salter; I'm essentially taking what Extra is and does and adjust it to tell the story I want to explore. Thus, the differences to canon range between minor and major here and there. I don't think you need a fresh memory of Extra (or have played it at all) to enjoy the story, but it might help.
Anyway, I hope reading this story will bridge the waiting time for Fate/Extra Record as nicely as writing it does for me!
(Let's see what's first, Record releasing or me wrapping up this story. I like races I'm very much bound to lose.)

One day just like the one before.
And just like the one after.
Each and every day anew.
Day after day, week after week.
The only change, a neglectable one at that, are the numbers assigned to the day on a calendar.
Arbitrarily assigned, no meaning whatsoever.
Repetition is comfort.
Repetition is mechanical.
Unwelcome surprises cannot come from unchanging circumstances.
Neither can miracles.
A stagnated world cannot fall to ruin.
Neither can it prosper.
As to a coin, there are two sides to each ideal.
Like Light and Darkness, Love and Hate.
One's dream is another's nightmare by nature.
Plunge the world into dusk, just to enjoy the sunset.
Who decides which fantasy is to come to be realized?
Who indeed.
