Chapter 49
Jane opened her eyes. Her ears were still buzzing, blood pounding in her temple, and she felt her limbs were mushy, her muscles still trembling in the aftermath of the impossible pleasure she had just experienced through Maura. Only then Jane realized she was wrapped in Maura's limbs.
Maura had sneaked up by Jane's side in bed when Jane's body had gone limp after her earth-shattering orgasm, and wrapped Jane with her arms and with her legs, trying to ground Jane from her high, Maura's head resting on top of Jane's left breast, lulled by the wild heartbeat of the haven haired beauty that was her girlfriend.
It took a while for Jane to regain enough control of her limbs to move an arm and bring her hand to rest on top of Maura's arm draped across Jane's torso.
Jane kissed the top of Maura's head, the only part of Maura at her immediate reach, given Jane's complete state of discoordination, and Jane sighed satisfied, still trying to catch her breath.
"Are you okay?" Maura asked, squeezing Jane's body tightly against hers.
"Better…" Jane had to clear her throat before she could speak. "Better than okay." She husked, her voice croaked after her recent screaming in pleasure.
Maura waited until Jane's heartbeat under her ear came back to normal, and until she could feel Jane's breathing back to a somewhat more regular pattern.
"You are too quiet…" Maura mused, concerned, raising herself on an elbow to look directly into Jane's eyes. "Are you sure you are okay?"
Jane was looking at her in complete awe.
"I am just… speechless. My brain is still trying to catch up with my mouth to form words."
"That bad?"
"That good, you mean? I never had it this good, Maura… This was… mind blowing… I… Hmmmm… You know… Nobody ever… hmmm… went down…"
"Oh, Jane, I am sorry, I didn't know… I should have asked…"
"Shhhh…" Jane interrupted her, shaking her head no. "It felt… incredible… You are incredible… And I love you very, very much…"
Maura squeezed Jane tightly.
"Is it normal my limbs feel like mush?"
Maura chuckled.
"It is…"
Jane turned and moved until she had Maura's naked body in her arms. When Maura rested her head on the crook of Jane's neck, Jane knew she had found paradise. She closed her eyes and let the aftermath of great sex pull her down, and she dozed.
She blinked her eyes again, not sure if what had elapsed were a few minutes or a couple of hours, but at least she felt she had control over her limbs again. She could feel Maura's compassed breathing all along her skin – on her neck where Maura's nose was buried, and on her body, as Maura's naked chest rose and fell against hers.
And Jane felt as if the entire world had rearranged itself in a new pattern, one that made sense, and everything fit in their places, and she and Maura fit together, Jane's sharp edges perfectly matching Maura's soft curves. This was how everything was meant to be.
The "I don't want to miss a thing" song by Aerosmisth came to Jane's mind. She now understood perfectly what it was about.
I could stay awake just to hear you breathing
Watch you smile while you are sleeping
While you're far away and dreaming
I could spend my life in this sweet surrender
I could stay lost in this moment forever
Where a moment spent with you is a moment I treasure
Don't wanna close my eyes
I don't wanna to fall asleep
'Cause I'd miss you baby
And I don't wanna miss a thing
'Cause even when I dream of you
The sweetest dream would never do
I'd still miss you baby
And I don't wanna miss a thing
Lying close to you, feeling your heart beating
And I'm wondering what you're dreaming
Wondering if it's me you're seeing
Then I kiss your eyes
And thank God we're together
And I just wanna stay with you in this moment forever
Forever and ever
I don't wanna close my eyes
I don't wanna to fall asleep
'Cause I'd miss you baby
And I don't wanna miss a thing
'Cause even when I dream of you
The sweetest dream will never do
I'd still miss you baby
And I don't wanna miss a thing
I don't wanna miss one smile
And I don't wanna miss one kiss
And I just wanna be with you
Right here with you, just like this
And I just wanna hold you close
I feel your heart so close to mine
And just stay here in this moment
For all the rest of time
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
Without noticing, Jane had begun humming the song softly to herself. She didn't want to fall asleep. She could stay forever like this, feeling Maura's compassed breathing into her skin. Holding Maura close, Maura's heartbeat close to hers. Jane didn't want to miss a thing, anything, with Maura.
Maura stirred in Jane's arms.
"What are you singing?" Maura asked in a whisper, amused.
Jane smiled, picked up her phone from the bedstand, searched for the song, and put it on play on a very low volume, close to Maura's ear.
"Watching you asleep made me feel exactly like this song described…" Jane admitted on her husky voice, tightening her hold on Maura's body against hers.
Maura's breathing hitched, and she asked Jane quietly: "Play it on repeat?"
Jane did as Maura asked, and craned her neck down to kiss Maura passionately as the song played softly in the background.
Little did she know they would be hearing that song on repeat for hours, their bodies behaving on their own volition, in a slow exploration of every inch, hands learning the geography of each other curves, kisses memorizing the texture and taste of every one of their surfaces, learning what pleased the other most and best, and bringing each other to climax again, and again, and again, on repeat like the song, until they fell asleep exhausted and sated in each other's arms. Neither of them wanted to miss a thing.
