Costume Making Part 2

"How would you like it if I made fun of you when you try on your Wizard of Oz costume for tomorrow night?" Tommy asked Dil.

"Not funny, T," Dil said. "not funny in the least."

Dil then cleared off to go downstairs.

Next door at the Deville residence, Lil was in the bedroom she shared with Phil trying on her Glinda wig, shoes, wand, and crown while Howard was busy making the rest of her costume.

Betty had finished Phil's costume, the tin man costume that Phil was to wear trick-or-treating the next evening.

Betty had to weld a tin suit, mask, and shoes for Phil.

For Phil, trying his costume on was like trying on a suit of armor.

Phil clanked into Lil's doorway, "What do you think?" he asked.

"You look like the genuine tin man from the movie!" Lil exclaimed.

"You don't look like Glinda yet, Lillian," Phil said. "you don't have..."

"I know, Phillip," Lil said. "I don't have my gown yet."

Phil clanked down the stairs, hoping their mother could help him out of his costume so he could put some regular clothes on.

Lil put her wand, wig, shoes, and crown away.

Then, she went down to the kitchen to get a snack of carrot and celery sticks with blue cheese dressing.

"Lil, your Glinda gown is ready for tomorrow night." Howard said

"Awesome, Dad," Lil said. "thanks."

"You're welcome." Howard said.

After having her snack, Lil went back to her bedroom to try her full Glinda costume on.

Lil came back downstairs in her full Glinda costume.

"What do you think?" Lil asked her mom and dad.

"You look like an angel." Betty said to Lil.

"I'm supposed to be a witch, Mom." Lil reminded Betty.

"I know that," Betty said. "Kira told me that she had a difficult time finding ruby slippers for Kimi's Dorothy costume, so she found a pair of sparkly silver ones instead."

"That's perfect! Because in the Oz books we're reading in preschool," Lil said to Betty. "the slippers are in fact silver, not ruby red in color!"

"Oh, I didn't know that," Betty said to Lil. "I guess you really do learn something new every day."

"I suppose you're right." Lil said.

Betty checked her wristwatch, "Jeez, look at the time, it's time for bed! You and Philly have school in the morning!"

"Right away, Mom." Lil said.

Lil went upstairs to the bathroom to first take a bath as the first step for bedtime preparation.

Over at the Finster residence, Chuckie and Kimi came into the living room from their bedrooms from trying on their Halloween costumes.

The brown braided wig Kimi wore was slipping from her head.
