Ginny described herself as a 'normal girl', thank you very much. Her family may have some financial problems, and she may need to buy second-hand clothes. She may also have spent more time around her brothers, and her interactions with other girls her age it's almost none. Except maybe her neighbour, the Lovegood girl, but she had hardly seen her. Neither her cousin could be counted, she doesn't get along with her, so Ginny pretends she doesn't exist. Still, Ginny described herself as normal.

And as a normal girl of 11 years old, she has a crush. Harry Potter, the enigmatic Boy-Who-live. She grew up knowing his tragic story. She has dreamed that he may have grown up as a caring and brave boy, searching to become the hero he was destined to be. A great surprise happened when she got a picture in the Daily Prophet of the boy, now named Harry Suzuki.

Her mind and heart were conflicted. He was handsome, with a beautiful smile, and with those emerald eyes that made her melt. But, he decided to use a last name that was not Potter. She thought he would use the last name out of respect for his late parents. Still, she could also think that, for the same reason, he decided to use the last name of his new parents.

Speaking of his parents, they were also in the same picture, and she thought that Harry's mother may be an angel, that was only missing her wings. She remembered their encounter in the train station. Even there she looked astonishing. The only thing she could not understand was how that beautiful woman ended up marrying a man so… normal. The man did not look bad, but neither was handsome. It was, maybe, his personality.

When her brothers came back from school, she was even more confused about the Boy-Who-Live. Ron is the brother to whom, for a long shot, she feels more connected. There is only one year of difference between them, and he has become more of a friend than a brother. And at his arrival, Ron told her that Harry was a no-good. A Slytherin, a pure-blood supremacist, and a potential dark wizard, like any other Slytherin.

She felt that the image of Harry was destroyed, but then George and Fred told her that he was a wicked kid. Intelligent and a Prankster at the hearth, and overall, a good rival. They have spent almost all the summer thinking about pranks to compete with him.

Then her older brother, Percy, confuses her. He told her that Harry was intelligent, a kid who follows orders, and a future prefect. He complements Harry for helping him maintain order between the Gryffindors and the Slytherins. He admired him for having a friendship with kids from different houses early on.

Ginny now doesn't know what to think. Ron's opinion is important to her, as he is the one that is in his own year but is still Ron, so he may be jealous. The twins said that he is good, but then again, they are pranksters, and their definition of 'good' may not be the best. Then is Percy. Normally if Percy compliments someone, means that Ginny will not be close to that person. Still, it doesn't make sense that Percy and the twins think good things for the same person.

The young Weasley girl gave up and decided that she will make her own judgement when the time comes. Still, she will keep the pictures of Harry. Just in case.

Behind her bed, there is a small box she used to store some things she felt that is precious to her. A snitch that her brother Charlie gave to her, A part of a parchment signed by 'The weird sisters', and now Harry's picture. After she stored the picture, she went down to have breakfast.

The whole Weasley family is having breakfast. It is a normal occurrence in summer. Arthur Weasley, the father of the family, has worked extra time but he always tries to have time for his family, especially in summer.

In the middle of breakfast Errol, the family's owl arrived with the letters from Hogwarts. Giving them the list of books, they need to buy. Ginny was happy and worried. She was expecting this day when she will go to Diagon Alley to buy her books, Her first step as a Hogwarts student, but she knows about the tight budget she will need to work on. The worst is that some books are expensive.

"Mom, we can try the new library. I have a ticket for a 'student discount'", Percy quickly said when he saw his mother's eyes full of worry. "I have also one for you, Ginny", Percy now stretched his hand to give her the ticket. A purple ticket with a golden emblem, and behind it there was a small circle that changed colours with the light.

Molly Weasley smiled at his son, "but what about your brothers?" The twins raised their free hands at the same time to show a similar ticket.

"What? I am the only one without one?" asked Ron. "From where did you get those?"

The twins looked at each other, and started to talk to themselves aloud, "Should we tell him?", "I don't know, but I want to", "see his reaction?", "see his misfortune", "you think his hair will turn green?", "he can become a Slytherin then".

"Tell me already", screamed Ron.

"It was the son", "of the owner", "of the library". The twins finally answer him.

"Blimey! Do you know him? Is he a student at Hogwarts?"

"You surely haven't read the Daily Prophet, right?" said Percy with a deadpan expression. Suddenly Ginny remembered the article from which she took the photo she stored away. Suddenly she did not want to use the ticket. It's the first present Harry gave to her, indirectly maybe, but still, the first present.

Unbeknownst to the children of the Weasley family, nor to Arthur himself, the matriarch was somehow happy that Ron didn't get one. She still has an excuse to go to 'Flourish and Blotts' and see Gilderoy Lockhart.

After breakfast, the whole family used the Floo to go to the Diagon Alley. Their first visit was for Ron's books.

'Flourish and Blotts' was full due to the signing that was going to do Lockhart. But outside the line for his autograph, the place was almost empty. No one was searching for books. Molly looked for the books and made a mental note of the prices of the books she will buy for her other kids. She wanted to check if the discount they promised was a real deal. She did it fast, as her priority right now was to be in the line to can get the new book of Lockhart.

While the mother was standing in the line Ginny wonder a little. She decided that maybe she could buy a small book: 'Young wizards and their accomplishes'. A small book where surely Harry Potter should be. It was not that expensive, so she could afford it with her own money.

Suddenly, in front of her, a blonde kid entered the bookstore. He was walking alongside a bushy-haired girl. "Honestly! I am telling you that we should go to his house for his birthday", said the girl to the blonde kid. "I'll try to go, but I can't promise anything", said the blonde kid.

"And don't try to put the 'good friend' charade, Granger. You are taking me here, his competition", said the blonde. "I wanted to come here because Lockhart will be here, and nothing else", said the bushy girl. The blonde one shook his head and then he looked at Ginny and Ron.

"Just great! See? You take me here, and the first thing you will see is this", said the blonde pointing at Ron with his head. Hermione only shook her head while sighing.

A man appeared behind the blond kid. He had long hair and was dressed in black robes; he stood his hand on the blonde's shoulder. At the same time, Arthur Weasley arrived and stood close to his kids.

"Well, well, well. Arthur Weasley," said the man that moved Draco away. His mannerism expressed superiority.

"Lucius Malfoy," said Mr Weasley, nodding coldly.

"Busy time at the Ministry, I hear," said Mr Malfoy. "All those raids... I hope they're paying you overtime?" said the blonde man. He reached into Ginny's cauldron and extracted the second-hand book Ginny wanted to buy, 'Young wizards and their achievements'.

"Obviously not," Mr Malfoy said. "What's the point of being a disgrace to the name of wizard if they don't even pay you well for it?" Mr Weasley flushed darker. He controlled himself before answering, "We have a very different idea of what disgraces the name of wizard, Malfoy," he said.

"Clearly," said Mr Malfoy.

The tension was way too strong, and Hermione got close to Lucious. "Mr Malfoy, maybe it's best if we go to 'Emerald Scroll'". Mr Malfoy looked at the bushy girl and nodded at her. "You are right. This place is not at our standards". Mr Malfoy then returned the book to Ginny's cauldron "Here, girl... take your book. It's the best your father can give you..." After that, they left the bookstore.

Ginny was furious at the moment, then Ron spoke to her, "those two are your boyfriend's best friends. Draco Malfoy and Harry's girlfriend, the muggle-born who wanna be a half-blood". Ginny frowned but was Arthur the one who asked his son for more details.

"That girl is Hermione Granger, a Muggle-born. But she suddenly started to say that she was a half-blood. She also made up a story that she was Potter's betrothed. She is mental, I tell you".

Arthur only shook his head at the information.

The Weasley family stayed until Molly could get the new book of Lockhart signed, and obviously, the books of Ron, who were again, second hand. It had passed about 30 minutes to complete the whole task in 'Flourish and Blots'.

After that, they walked in the direction of the new bookstore, hoping that they had spent enough for Malfoy to not be there anymore. Arthur suggested going another day, but Ginny was too eager to finally have her books. A little 'please' of the younger Weasley made him change his mind.

The new bookstore was big, as it took two old stores out. One was a candies store, and another was a small tea shop. It was sad for Molly and Arthur, as that tea shop was once a spot for their dates, back when they were younger.

The bookstore stock out in the street, the only building that looked new. Made of bricks, unlike the other stores made out of wood. Big windows displayed the books, and on one side was a 'door' of crystal, but without a handle. It was an odd view.

The store also accomplished one thing, make everyone outside look poor, old and dusty. At the top of the store, you could see that some people were at tables drinking tea. It made them look like those people were important, looking at the passers-by as if they were inferior.

Not knowing what they should do, as the window at the side, which looked like a door, did not have a handle, the family stood there. Fred and George were the first to walk to the crystal 'door', and while standing close to the 'door', it moved to the side by itself, letting them enter. The whole family follow behind.

When Ginny entered the place, she felt like she entered another world. The weather was different inside. "A charm to make the place have a cool feeling, probably", said Molly. Ginny nodded and thought that all the stores should have a similar charm.

The younger of the Weasleys looked around. Bookshelves on the walls, isles of books with a sign on the top saying about the category, which she thanked as none of the other bookstores have it, and it was a headache to try to search for all the books. There were some banners in green with a golden symbol graved in the centre. The floor was white and so pure that you could almost see your reflection.

At the entrance of the bookstore there was a woman with a black cape, and in the centre of the cape, over her chest, was a green stone, and in her neck a white scarf. Under the cape, she was wearing a very formal robe. "Welcome to Emerald Scroll", said the woman. That woman was not the only one dressed like that, as other women and men were standing in similar clothes. Some of them have scarves in different colours.

Suddenly Ginny felt bad about herself. How beautiful the place looked, how good the people working here looked, and there she was, wearing a second-hand robe, and with dust all over her due to the Floo network. But that she did not break her courage, so she stood up firm and walked inside the store.

She looked around, saying that she was looking for her books, but in reality, she just wanted to look around. Then she realized something. The stairs' steps for the second floor were moving. It was only the steps moving. One of the stairs has its steps going up, and the other down. She was told by her parents and her brothers that the steps in Hogwarts moved, and if they move like those, she would be too happy.

Without noticing, Ginny has been staring at the stairs until Percy arrived and woke her from her imagination. "Did you find all your books?" asked her older brother, and she only shook her head. A woman with a red scarf got closer to them and asked them, "Are there any books that you are searching for?"

"Excellent! I am looking for the books for Hogwarts' sixth year. And my sister here needs the books for the first year. I have the list here", said Percy while checking his pockets. Before he could find the list, the woman said, "of course. There is no need for the list, we already have the package for each year. Do you happen to have our voucher?"

"Of course, here it is", said Percy while taking the ticket from his pocket. Ginny was holding her ticket inside her pocket until Percy elbowed her. She gave the woman her ticket and she nodded, "please follow me".

The woman takes them close to the payment area. On her way, they saw their father, who was looking at some books himself. Ginny went to her father so he could pay for the books.

When they arrived, they saw that she sat in her chair behind a desk. She took two black parchments and put one ticket in each one. Suddenly on the parchment green letters started to fall like rain in the paper, some of them stayed static with a brighter green, and then the rain of letters stopped. On one parchment, under the ticket appeared the number 1, and the other showed the number two. The parchment with number one showed Percy's full name, Percy Ignatius Weasley, and the legend 'Prefect'. Under Percy's name was the list of books.

"Oh, I see that you are a prefect. Congratulations. To the prefects we are giving not only the discount of the 25% but also a set of parchments and quills", said the woman with a smile. This seemed to make Percy proud, and his father smiled and put his hand on his shoulder.

The second parchment appeared again with the information about Percy, but instead of the book list showed, 'Prefect family discount 15%'.

"Have you decided already on your elective classes?" asked the woman to Percy, and he told her the three subjects he had chosen. The woman then stood up and went for the books, and after a short while she came back with two green bags floating behind her.

She sat again and write something on the black parchment and on another normal parchment. Suddenly the two tickets burned themselves. "It's going to be 28 galleons for the sixth year, and for the first year it will be 31 galleons and 4 sickles", said the woman. A smile on Arthur was shown, 'the cost for the two of them was as similar as the price for Ron's books, and the best is that these books are new', though the Weasley's father.

With the spare money, Percy bought a book called, 'A study of Hogwarts prefects and their later careers'.

Ginny wondered a little bit more in the bookstore. She did not want to go out yet from it. The cool sensation, the clean and pristine place, she may want another colour apart from the small touches of green here and there, but she didn't care. Suddenly from the stairs that moved down, she saw him. Harry Potter.

He was wearing formal muggle clothes under deep purple robes, which had some gold on the end of the sleeves. He looked so untouchable like he was descending from the skies. Ginny was frozen for a bit when she saw him. Besides Harry was the same girl that was with Malfoy.

"Surely, there was a mistake. The books of Gilderoy Lockhart could not be categorized as 'fantasy'", said Hermione to Harry.

"Sorry, but there is a lot of discussion regarding the veracity of the claims of the author. Still, the books are selling good, so, to not lie to our customers we decided to categorise his books as fantasy", said Harry. Then Harry saw the young Weasley girl and smiled at her with a nod. Harry was trying to be polite as the two of them crossed looks. To Ginny, that acknowledgement meant her 11-year-old world.
