Senator Bail Organa's Apartment

Coruscant

Two days later

"Luke?" Leia asked, striding into Bail Organa's bedroom.

"Yes?" her twin responded, using the Force to lift a small Twi'lek toddler who had opened the drawers in the senator's dresser, climbed them, perched herself on the top of the dresser, and was now reaching for the chandelier.

"Master Yoda and Kenobi are at our parents' place now. Bail and I have been asked to observe, and I wondered if you and Mara are Ok with watching the kids, with Master Shylo's assistance of course.

Luke glanced around thoughtfully as he sent a few Force tendrils questing through the apartment.

"Yes, we are good," he told his sister as he dropped the wiggling child onto the senator's bed, causing the little one to giggle madly.

"I can stay behind to assist if necessary," Bail Organa said from the doorway. "I think it is vital that … erm…Jedi Leia is part of the discussion."

"Nonsense," Luke said with a wave of his prosthetic hand. "The babies are settling down right now, and the toddlers will start napping soon. We'll be fine."

Organa could not repress a sigh of relief and promptly made his way toward the main door of the apartment, his gaze fixed rigidly ahead of him so that he did not have to see the hurricane of destruction which had turned his apartment from a calm abode into a horrifying mess.

Leia winked at her brother and hurried after her Alter Father, who was hurrying toward the staircase which would lead two floors down to Padme (and Anakin's) apartment.

"Cleaning and maintenance droids will fix up your place in a day," she said to Bail, who turned an apologetic eye on her.

"I know the Jedi can sense feelings," he said, "and I assure you I don't mind, in the least, giving up my apartment so the children are safe here. But the mess is…is…"

"Indescribable?" Leia asked, leaping down a full flight of stairs using the Force and then turning to grin up at Bail. "Yes, but that's just because your place isn't kid proofed at all. If you ever have children, and I hope you will, the key is to make safe rooms where the children can't get into stuff you really like."

Bail sighed and said, "I know that it is far better that Anakin and Padme raise their children, but I would have loved raising little Leia very much."

Leia nodded sympathetically and said, "Can I suggest Winter Retrac? She is a wonderful person!"

Fifteen minutes later

Mara Jade Skywalker wandered out of Bail's (former) office with her favorite infant in her arms and collapsed dramatically on the couch in front of the holoscreen, which was currently surrounded by small children rabidly watching 'My Little Loth-cat".

"Everything good?" Luke asked, taking a seat next to his wife and pressing a kiss on her auburn hair.

"Yes, the babies are asleep, finally. I should have put down little Viola here, but she is just so cute, and I know we'll be leaving soon.

"She is awfully cute," Luke agreed, casting an uneasy look at the sleeping infant in his wife's arms. He liked babies, a lot, but if Mara got pregnant again, it might be twins, and he sometimes thought he was too old for that kind of insanity even though he was only in his 30's.

"How are the toddlers doing?" he asked in a valiant attempt to pull his thoughts away from months of interrupted nights.

"Most of them are asleep as well," Mara said, "and Master Shylo is lying down with a couple of little ones who are close to napping."

She blew out a breath and continued, "I'm tired. Riding herd over a horde of Force Sensitive babies and toddlers is not easy. They are crazy cute, of course, but exhausting."

"Luke, Mara?" Leia's voice sounded in their head.

"Yes?" they responded simultaneously.

"Luke, can you spare a few minutes to come down to the parental units' apartment? Things are a little crazy here – not physically violent, but people are…stressed out. Mother is trying to keep our Father from being imprisoned and executed, and while it is going pretty well, I think it would help if you were here. But Mara, if that is too much…"

"No, I'll be fine," Mara said quickly.

"Good. Luke, bring Wookiee cookies please! I am hungry."

Padme (and Anakin's) Apartment

Luke stepped into the apartment and cast a quick, curious glance around. Padme and Anakin were seated side by side on a couch; the man's long arm was wrapped around the shoulders of his pregnant wife, and Padme was leaning forward, her eyes blazing. Behind her, standing rigidly at attention, was Bail Organa of Alderaan.

Master Yoda had taken his place seated on top of a glass table in the middle of the floor, with Kenobi standing behind him with one hand placed on his lightsaber.

Leia was curled up on a settee to one side, and Luke took his place next to her and handed over the Wookiee cookies.

"Attacked Master Windu Jedi Skywalker did!" Master Yoda declared, ignoring Luke's entrance.

"Yes, he did," Padme said angrily. "Master Windu was attempting to assassinate a duly elected chancellor of the Republic, without authorization and…"

"Palpatine had been revealed as a Sith Lord!" Kenobi interrupted in outrage, "and Anakin knew that the man was behind the entire war!"

Padme lurched to her feet with difficulty and pointed one slender finger at her husband's former master. "That does not matter! The Jedi cannot unilaterally sweep aside an elected chancellor without at least consulting upper level members of the Senate…"

"Jedi business it was!" Yoda screeched.

"Padme," Anakin said, his face downcast, "Master Yoda has every reason to be upset with me."

"He does not," his wife insisted, her lips set in a grim line. "As the senator from Naboo, I am horrified at the sheer audacity of the Jedi Order in attacking Palpatine without reasonable cause. Indeed, I intend to call for hearings to discuss this matter. The Jedi are the guardians of peace for the Republic, or are intended to be. That does not mean that you can decide, without consulting anyone other than other Jedi, to assassinate a high ranking Republic official!"

"Should we say something?" Luke asked his sister telepathically.

"I think Mother has the situation in hand," Leia returned cheerfully. "Of course we know that Anakin was headed toward becoming a tyrant, but I think he'll be fine with her at his side, and our little alters will want a father. Isn't she amazing?"

"She is," Luke agreed. It was odd and beautiful seeing their mother defending Anakin in such a way.

"I agree," Bail said from his position behind the married Skywalkers. "Master Yoda, we are, of course, most grateful for the assistance of the Jedi, but you cannot simply attempt to kill the highest ranking individual in the government without any discussion with the Senate…"

"No time there was! Great danger Palpatine was!" Yoda snapped, looking as if he would have pulled out his hair if he had any.

"Anakin had no right to interfere either," Obi-Wan said gravely, staring down at his former apprentice. "He broke so many of the Order's rules that he can hardly be called a Jedi. Marriage is forbidden, as you well know, Senator Amidala."

"Yes, and that is a stupid rule," Luke said, deciding it was time to intervene. "My sister and I are both married and have kids, and I assure you that our relationships, our attachment, help us to stay on track as Jedi. Anakin was worried about Padme's health and he even came to you about his fears, Master Yoda, and you just told him stupid stuff about how he should rejoice in the death of those he loves."

"How do you know that?" Anakin demanded, his blue eyes now round with wonder.

"Eh, different timeline," Luke said. "Listen, I don't know how much time we have here so let me just cut straight to the point. Master Yoda, Obi-Wan, you need to get all those clones unchipped ASAP or you are going to run out of fish for them to eat. Also, you need to deal with the Separatist leaders, who are probably hanging around on Mustafar. Anakin, you need to leave the Jedi Order. Yoda…"

"Leave the Order?" his Alter father squeaked in distress. "I can't…I can't do that! The galaxy is in turmoil and my job is to bring peace…"

"You also need counseling, and plushies," Luke continued remorselessly. "You are an emotional mess. Padme, make sure he has plushies."

Padme eyed him in wonder. "Ok?"

"My recommendation would be for you to resign as Senator, Padme," Leia said, also standing up. "You and Anakin should go home to Varykino and have your babies, and take at least a year off to heal from everything that happened."

"Believe me, you will have enough to do sorting out your weird mental status while also caring for newborn twins," Luke said with a dramatic groan.

"Turned to the Dark Side Skywalker did! Once a Jedi falls, consumes him it does!" Yoda snapped.

Leia leaped forward, picked up Yoda, spun him around, considerably to the old gnome's astonishment, and then put him down gently. "I know you think that," she said affectionately, "but it isn't true. Our own father spent 20 + years roiling around in the depths of the Dark Side and then turned back to save Luke from Palpatine. This was just a little blip in Anakin's life, and I am certain that as long as you don't idiotically send him off into the front lines again, and he works on his mental and emotional state, he'll be fine!"

"Toes tingling!" Luke said.

"Yep, bye everyone!" Leia exclaimed. "Padme, shaak plushies are particularly cute."

The time traveling twins vanished.

/

"Master Shylo!" Mara said urgently.

The Jedi opened her eyes and sat up instantly, though her eyes were red with exhaustion. "What is wrong? Are we under attack?"

"No, but my toes are tingling, which means that I am about to head back to my own time. Better take this little girl so she doesn't fall when I vanish, though I hate to do it. What a little darling! Good-bye Viola! Take care of her, Master!"

Shylo quickly took the infant female human and watched in astonishment as Mara disappeared.

A moment later, she looked down in more astonishment. Viola had disappeared as well.

Back in the normal timeline

Luke had been climbing the stairs to his apartment when he had been yanked to another timeline. He finished the climb and rushed into the apartment, just as Mara emerged with stars in her eyes and a bemused expression on her face.

"Look, Luke! Viola came back with us!" she exclaimed, gazing down adoringly at the baby in her arms.

Luke Skywalker stared at the baby, then at his wife, then at the baby. "You have got to be kidding me!"

"Told you I wanted another baby," Mara said gleefully. "The Force obviously agreed!"
